Time traveling to the past to see a lover

Greetings, everyone! I am thrilled to be back with another K-drama study. In my previous review, I shared my thoughts on the second season of The Uncanny Counter, which I found to be an enjoyable watch. Today, I am excited to share my review of A Time Called You, a recently released Netflix drama I binge-watched in just two days. It's been a while since a show captured my attention to the point where I contemplate it even while working. Thus, I'm eager to dive into the drama and explore my thoughts in greater detail.

Disclaimer: There may be spoilers, so read at your own will

Story:
A Time Called You has an enjoyable story that kept me wanting to see more of it. I loved how the case tape would take Han Jun Hee back to 1998. Ahn Hyo Seop from Business Proposal starred in the show, and I loved his acting as he fits well with the whole story. I did like the mystery aspect that the show throws at us occasionally. It was nice to see them portray two characters in the show as the male lead, and the female lead did an excellent job with those two. The time-traveling stuff was executed perfectly, making me wonder what would happen next. At some moments, the story was hard to understand.
One scene I like is when Min Ju and Nam Si Heon lie together under the tree. It looks so cute. I have never seen the original version, but this remake was all right. I've seen a couple of time travel shows before, but this might be the best I've seen. The show's final scene made me tear up a little as the two main characters meet each other.

OSTs:
I loved all the OSTs that this show delivered. The piano-driven song from Kim Min Seok, who provided killer vocals that kept me coming back for more. Lim Kim had an acoustic ost one that was another one I kept listening to on repeat. Kei has to be my favorite artist who released a song for this show, as you can feel the emotion from the singer's performance. The only OST I wasn't crazy about was Newjeans, as it felt lifeless to me, but I still returned to it a few times. I have still been having these Osts on repeat since they were released.

Overall, A Time Called You is getting a B from me for being a great show, but not one that thoroughly blew me away. The Acting and music fit well with the overall vibe of the show. I was excited about this show, and it was worth the wait. I'm excited to see what the next drama will be bringing to the table for me. I hope you all have a great day or night wherever you are.

Rather soft love story with a lot of twists and turns!

I have seen 3 episodes of the similar series Someday or Oneday few months back. Always love time travelling movie and dramas. Blue Birthday is my most favourite♥️

Recently through Ost got to know about this series A time called you. First thing which clicked my mind was the music… OST was so lit that I had to made my mind for watching this series. Actors were goodlooking so I was hooked.

Ahn Hyo-seop was outstanding, when he acts you really get into the character. The actress and other ML did a good performance too. The confusing part came where Nam Se Heon goes in the future in Yeon Jun’s body. I guess most of viewers will find it difficult to know what happened to Yeon Jun then. So let me make it clear for them that it is a lovestory between 1998(Nam Se Heon) and 2023(Han Jun Hee).

She travels back into the past for him and he travels into the future for her. Hope you understand now❤️ And yes MINJU’s character freaks me out… when it turns into negative I was swearing her whole time🤣 was so angry at her!!

Can’t tell which version is more perfect because I have not yet completed the Taiwanese version! Would only say that you should watch this one if you like the cast, slow romance, suspense and time travelling dramas!!

Would rate the series 8/10 for me! Ideal for binge-watching!!

What a Mess!

I've learned to suspend reality when watching certain Kdramas and so I just went with most of the super-confusing timeline crossovers and issues. Yeah, so what if it didn't make a whole lot of sense until the end. I didn't know it was a remake until I got here to write a review and found out from other reviewers. I somewhat regret slogging through this series so I'm certainly not going to watch the original. And the main reason I'm bothering to make this comment is that I'm wondering what happened on the bus at the very end of episode 12. We hear the magical music and and ML asks FL if she is Min-ju and based on the subtitles and her reaction she seems to acknowledge as much. If I got that right--and I went back to watch it a 2nd time--then why didn't she recognize the ML as her former classmate and friend? They were on the same timeline and he remembered enough to ask her name. Why didn't they say like "Hey, haven't seen you in years! How are you?" or whatever folks in South Korea say when they bump into a former friend? It would have made a lot more sense if he had suddenly remembered and asked if she was Jun-Hee. Then she could say "Yes" and he'd have a reason to follow up to figure out how he remembered her. After all, it was to Jun-Hee that he promised he would find her one day. Also, and while it made for good optics to have all of Jun-Hee's and Yeon-Jun's stuff disappear before her eyes--since that timeline wouldn't have occurred--it didn't make sense to me to have her disappear too, unless Jun-Hee was never real to begin with. Which would mean there wasn't a promise to meet again, no great last scene--unless the last scene is just a meeting of two former acquaintances with no other meaning.

I dont care what anyone says i loved this kdrama so much ❤️ i love the twists and turns and i loved the characters. It was a bit confusing at first but thats what hooks you because you need to find out whats going on so you keep pressing next episode all night hahaha i like my kdramas to have some action and twists as well as romance so this one really had me hooked i like how its switched between present day and past. So cool and unique! The male main character was so cute and i also loved his best friend he was so sweet in his own way. If you liked crash landing on you then you will probably like this one too!

I liked this a lot (I have not watched the original one)

People who have watched the original one before the remake are hating this remake a lot. I know original is original but it does not mean this Korean remake is bad.

The reason people hate remake who have watched the original one is because they are already attached to the original film/series. And when they watch the remake they just cannot get used to the new cast and new angles of the film/series. They just cannot imagine the same story and character with different actor than the ones in the original film/series.

it's like if you watch a remake of Iron Man with different actor after watching the original one which has Robert Downey Jr in it, you will definitely dislike it. But if you happened to have never watched the original Iron Man movie then you might like the remake one.

Now if I watch the original drama, I will definitely like the remake version more than the original one, because I watched the remake one first.

What I am trying to say is, both the original and the remake are very good. Because it's the same drama with different languages and actors.

JUST AMAZING.

I haven't watched the original so, don't come at me for it. I loved every single episode. it was so good planned that sometimes I was more invested on the murder case, or thinking how will they explain the "time travel" and how they'll fix it that I had no time to get bored.
the romance was just good, subtle but also strong. it didn't need many kiss scenes, or touching scenes for you to understand that the love was there, you could just feel it in the way the stared at each other and that's on the great cast. I loved the acting and also the ost I LOVED EVERYTHING it's just sooooo good. wish I could turn back time and watch it again for the first time. <3

I have not watched the original

but I do want to now that I've seen this one! Ive seen people saying that the original was even more emotional and better in general, but I've gotta say this one IS GOOD! I personally loved it and am glad I took a chance on it. it's also joined a (now 3 member) club of shows that kept me up at night, this one being a first in that it wasn't the final episode that threw me out of my mind, and the second Korean drama on the list. I also appreciated how everything in the show grew on me as it went on. even if I already cared about a character, each episode made me care more (in-gyu especially 😭) and the songs too! I wasn't a huge fan of them at first, I never disliked them but just eh whatever but each time they played them, instead of getting sick of hearing it, I was grinning ear to ear eager to hear it again! the only thing I wish, was for this to have been weekly updates, cause I like the anticipation of waiting for a new episode but that's okay 🤗

The Complexity Makes it Nice

A few people that watched the show stated that the show is difficult to follow due to the crossing between timelines, however I believe it is not difficult to follow at all.

The back and forth jump between years, if followed thoroughly, adds to the story massively and it is what made the drama so nice.

Overall, the acting is amazing, allowing the watcher to be completely immersed in the story from start to finish. It is the type of drama that you would want to binge-watch without getting bored.

I did not like the plot because it kind of depressing, but the acting was exceptional.

A Time Called You - a Kdrama recommended by a friend, and I fell asleep watching it. So far, I have not enjoyed this drama. It is too slow, and the flow of the story is not engaging me.

The Synopsis: Han Jun Hee's boyfriend, Koo Yeon Jun, died one year ago. She still hasn't gotten over his death and misses him a lot. One day, she time-travels back to 1998 and finds herself as a high school student, Kwon Min Joo. There, she meets high school student Nam Si Heon. She is surprised to see how much Nam Si Heon resembles her late boyfriend, Koo Yeon Jun. Nam Si Heon is outgoing and attractive; girls adore him. His best friend, Jung In Kyu, develops a crush on Kwon Min Joo.

I went back and watched it again, and I didn't like the story that much because it dealt with dark issues with mental health and suicide. The acting was exceptional, especially the actress Jeon Yeo Been, who played both Han Jun Hee & Kwon Min Ju characters.

Overall, I enjoyed the acting of this drama, but not particularly the plot. I give it an 8.0 anyway because the acting was so good.

Good watch

I binged it in a day . my thoughts on this kdrama is that you have to watch it all the way to the end for it to make sense , half of time in the show I was confused but when you finish the show it makes sense . This is a good show to watch if you are looking to just binge something or to kill time . This does have a happy open ending . I would recommend this to a person who isn’t looking for something serious also this show does mention sucide . it is a solid seven and a half out of 10 for me the chemistry was really good but other than that I don’t know.
