A wonderful remake of one of my favorite dramas of all time
I’m not gonna sit here and pretend that I don’t prefer the Taiwanese version still. I have no clue how much of it is the fact that I watched it first vs some subtle difference in storytelling that just makes me bawl like a baby and get a headache every time I watch the old version… Nevertheless, A Time Called You is an incredibly strong remake with a wonderful cast. I was most of all pleasantly surprised at Jeon Yeo Been’s acting skills because of how many different emotions and characters she had to portray (a schoolgirl who is deeply depressed pretending to be the 36 year old version of her who took over her body and yet she is a terrible actress so her own personality slips through no matter how hard she tries - yeesh! That’s not easy). Something about this drama is still nagging at me and I do not think I will truly find out until I rewatch the original version, but for now I’m going to leave it by saying the following: The korean remake is incredibly faithful to the original drama. Superb cinematography and cast, wonderful music selection. Worth a watch, especially if you weren’t ruined by the original! I truly think this drama has the potential to be preferred by someone over the original, that person is just not me.Was this review helpful to you?

Beautifully portrayed.
teared up at the end, i love how beautiful the aesthetic was, the 90's vines were truly IN IT. i love how Ingyu, Junhee and Siheons friendship was portrayed. how every character had a story to tell and everyone had their flaws.its just something that need your full attention in order to understand the events taking place. the time lapse only gets confusing if you dont pay attention that well. another thing i loved was hoe every character got its happy ending. but the ending was really rushed :/

Felt a little bit story not complete and rushed
The ending should have extended a bit more and there is a loop hole in this because min ju won't have gotten into accident because she will be saved by chang nevertheless of past changed or not and she won't be in hospital that's a loop hole I don't know if anyone else noticed it I felt a little bad with that and the ending should have been a little more even if it was bad it felt they ended it but rushed somewhat like that.

No words are enough to describe this - from a person who didn't know this was a remake
Firstly, if you're looking for a review without any comparisons because, just like me, you found this drama by itself, be my guest. As a person who did not watch the original, I really wish we could just appreciate this on its own, instead of pointing out every single thing that tells both dramas apart – even if they are good or bad.
I started watching this, not even knowing it was a remake, and found it astonishing. The whole plot really gives you some food for thought, it's truly a well-told story. It checks every box in what I personally find in a good drama: romance, thriller and mental health issues (yes). The ending is just perfect in my eyes, makes the entire show worth it.
For the OST, the songs were charming and, unlike many people I have seen here, the main song perfectly fitted the emotion that this drama was supposed to give – a certain nostalgia and desperation.
Another thing I would like to talk about is how much Jeon Yeobeen shined as Kwon Minju, I was in complete awe all the time. However, I must complain, there is a lack of women in this story, which makes her the only remarkable female in the entire show.
This show really left a strong impression on me, so I think I will keep on thinking about it for a few days and remember it for a long time. It's simply that beautiful and intriguing, it truly touched my heart.
PS: this is my first review + english is not my first language so I gave my best

A convoluted drama that fails to establish itself
It is honestly quite a shame, I had high hopes for this drama from both the trailers and some of the casting. But did it disappoint so much early on that it made me drop the drama completely. Normally I would hold on for hope that it would get better but the drama failed to even give the slightest bit of hope. The concept itself is very convoluted and disorients quickly, having had the entire show spoiled on the decision to drop it all but confirmed my decision to drop the drama. The lackadaisical and nonsensical concept which could work if it was outlined better. The only saving grace with the casting was Jeon Yeo-been, her ability to play both roles of Jun Hee and Min Ju with both of their different personality types was fantastic. But it's a shame the world built around them and the story they are in completely is the opposite. Ahn Hyo-seop unfortunately bores me as a main male lead, his presentation of both roles of Yeon Jun and Si Heon are completely unremarkable and stale. The drama itself doesn't even bother to build up initially the emotional attachment to Yeon Jun, only living small flashbacks here and there which are only a minute or two long.
The only thing truly outstanding about the drama was the production quality, the cinematography and the accompanying music was great. I wished this drama did a better job in drawing the viewer in within the first few episodes and had a better flushed out timeline and concept. Will I return to it? Probably not especially knowing the entire story already from reading the entire story.

Wow, this drama was crazy, it's been a while since I was so excited and created so many theories, you know? It was an unimaginable surprise.I screamed, freaked out, jumped when my theory was right, it was a success!
I really liked the development of the story, it was very good, the words of affirmation that Jun hee said to make Min Ju feel better made me happy, she can have her chance and live now and live well, you know? But I confess that episode 11 dragged on for me because I just wanted everything to be resolved quickly, I'm not going to lie that I wanted more of them at the end, but did we get our dose of them as a couple throughout the drama? The chemistry between these two was incredible, the performance was impeccable, I need to praise Yeo Been, I have loved acting for a long time and the differences between Jun Hee and Min Ju were very noticeable, even the way they spoke changed a lot for me, the intonation he knows? It was incredible, I loved it! And hyo seop isn't even mentioned, he's a great actor too, they worked very well together, I really loved in Gyu and I really hope he's happy, he deserves it so much??
The drama was great, the time travel and everything really inspired me, it just needed a little bit to win my heart even more, but I really liked it!
And did time take care of bringing him back to her?

Possibly my top drama watched this year?
I absolutely love Time Travel stories, they more often than not get some aspect of the time travel cause and effect loop wrong, or don't fully respect it and use it only when it benefits them, but when a Time Travel drama gets it right it scores a platinum - and this one such drama.Based on a Taiwanese drama (Some day or One day) which i have not watched (nor was aware of) this is the Korean retelling of that story. I can't judge it for how similar or different it is, so I won't, i'm just looking at this from a "I watched this, this is what I think" perspective.
The writing on this is absolutely some of the best i've seen. At 12 episodes, it is allowed to keep a good pace throughout without ever feeling drawn out. It twists and turns, but it all makes sense and you'll find every episode opening your eyes and making you click "next episode" just that little bit faster. The back and forth on this one, the way that time travel is knitted throughout the story is just beautiful in execution.
The romance is fantastic too and the two leads are great - but specifically I want to call out the female lead, Jeon Yeo Been, who so beautifully portrays two different characters - the outgoing Jun Hee from 2023, and the shy quiet Min Ju from 1998, you can easily tell them apart even from the way that they walk.
I will say, if you're someone who needs to understand the "how" of something like this, you're going to find this a 1/10 drama, because really - there is no explanation for something that can't be understood at this point in time by us such as Time Travel, so I kinda appreciate it when writers don't try to dazzle us with science or fantasy and just ask us to "sit down, relax, and enjoy the story". Many of the best sci-fi elements tweak something and explore the outcome of it without needing to explain how that tweak was possible. Remember, Magic is Science that you don't yet understand, just enjoy the magic.
I related a lot to the portrayal of the loneliness of Min Ju as well, simply not understanding how to integrate with everyone else, being the outcast and loner, I relate to that far more than I even realised and particularly in the closing episodes it home really hard. and it helped me understand her character and motivations even more.
There aren't many dramas that have had this much of an effect on me emotionally to be honest, the last time I can think of a drama having me a-buzz like this was "The Light in Your Eyes" (2019) with Han Ji Min which was also alluding to be a Time Travel theme as well.
Music is good, lots of time spent in 1998 so some nice old scenes and music to listen to.
I won't go into any more detail, you just need to go on this journey for yourself and enjoy it.
As to the ending - in my opinion, it's perfect. Just exactly what's needed and not a drop more, and i'll leave it there :)

Hey K-drama lovers, This drama confused me a lot more initially. The story went on here and there like that, and I was literally planning to stop watching it. However, the spark hit me with a beautiful twist and turn in the incidents that happened. I started to understand the story in the 6th episode, and I know that's bad. But still, what should we do? After that, the story is like, Awww... I don't know how the author got all this imagination to write the story. Should appreciate him. The protagonists and the uncle's character were all good. I would recommend this to everyone who loves to watch sci-fi-type drama. Was this review helpful to you?
