I'm So Disappointed

While I'm not familiar with the lead actress, I'm a big fan of Dylan. So, I was very confused at his stiff and dry acting in this drama. I kept hoping for something to get better but everything was frustrating me. The dialogue was just dragging so much and often times just didn't make sense in relation to what I was thinking was the plot. But then there's that -- I really didn't understand the plot.

The business part was absolutely nonsensical. It's obvious that not only were the actors very much not familar with the topics, but also whoever wrote the script. The acquisition vs investment bit was just comedy. That's not how any of this works. Same with the part about trying to get a talented highly sought-after person to work at a startup that's in dire needs of funds with a timid CEO-founder leading. They were just spouting off a bunch of vague jibber-jabber. Much like kids would do when playing pretend.

Once I realized I was paying more attention to my phone, as well as skipping past painful scenes of pointless staring and the FL talking out loud to herself, I decided to drop.

I could ignore the goofy business stuff if there at least was a cute romance dynamic happening, but even that was nonsensical. Just not a show for me. Out of all of Dylan's dramas I've watched, I've only not liked "Miss the Dragon". So this thesecond one to make the dislike list. I guess I really can't expect to like every show he does.

Another bad RomCom with bad acting, don't waste your time.

Only for Love is a rom-com about a cold CEO and a financial reporter.

I watched about 8 episodes of "Only for Love"; don't waste your time. Here are the reasons why I am dropping it:
- Only For Love: The plot is boring, and the character Bai Lu playing is weak and a waste of her talents.
- Dylan Wang is not convincing as a cold CEO. There is no on-screen chemistry between the lead actors.
- For Dylan Wang's fan, I am sorry, but to me, he is a one-dimension actor who can't act.

I have wasted almost 8 hours with something so boring and unreal. Just because Dylan Wang is popular in LBFD doesn't mean that he should be teamed up with everyone, even the good actress.

I heard he will team up with my favorite actress, Zhao Lusi. I hope it will not disappoint me. I am dropping this drama because the plot is stupid, and the ML does not do justice to team up with Bai Lu (one of my favorite actresses.)

I give it a 5.0 rating because of the bad plot, acting, and production quality.

Good actors, awful script

Surely the most boring, unoriginal script with the most dysfunctional lead characters ever. The director also did a terrible job. There are so many terrific actors in this drama—I feel sorry for them.

Could have been better

This drama had a depthless plot which spent more time on the business writing than on the romance. I feel like the supporting cast could have been given more to work with so that their relationships didn't seem so much like superficial filler. As much as I had a hard time believing in the implausible pairing of the younger ingenue with the older supporting lead, I did root for them but felt their journey could have been handled better, Instead we get a girl chasing a guy who keeps running away, until he gives up and decides to just be with her. No build up. It's exhausting and silly to watch them.

The next supporting couple made no sense at all. We have two people who are crazy in love with each other, but are too scared to be honest with each other about their feelings. They love playing games with each other which is a waste of time. Nothing much was happening but when they finally do decide to give their romance a chance, they almost disappear.

The main leads/couple were the most perplexing. I was intrigued by their relationship, the build up took a good long, time and when they got together, it was great---except when she started acting like a bumbling idiot whenever he was around. I guess that was supposed to be her playful side, but it seemed completely at odds with her personality. The misunderstandings broke your heart, so seeing them get to a better place later on was a relief. I found the excessive time passage towards the end unnecessary and unfair to the storyline and only furthered my frustration with the writers.

Dylan Wang gets better with every passing drama. He is growing as an actor and I hope he continues to take more meaningful roles. The best show to date has been Fairy Loves Devil. He needs to hold out for better parts because they are out there. Bai Lu was amazing in Till the End of the Moon, I find her an intelligent actress, so I find her hard to watch when she has to play silly ingenues. There are younger actresses out there who can do that. I think she is beyond that now and should strive for roles with more depth.

In general, this should have been left to more creative writers. The entire plot was superficial and boring and I felt the actors were cheated out of something better.

Too cringe.

I liked it at first but there are too many cringey lines and scenes that I find so ew. It didn’t give what it was supposed to give (???) Shu Yi is a capable and smart woman but she’s too cringey sometimes and act out of character. They told us that Shi Yan didn’t inherit his dad’s company because he had a different mind but all I see is him being pushed around by his dad’s friends like it doesn’t make sense to me. Towards the end, I wasn’t focusing on watching it. It really is not worth it.

Don't waste your time with this...

Seriously, this story with all it's used cliches might have been great to watch in 2000 but in 2023... Uff...
I do like some fuffy and easy going drama from time to time but this was... uff... Everything could have been handled within 3-4 episodes if they only talked with each others.

A best FM-Fried who has NO fuc***** idea on how to build up a relation ship is giving advises and the FL is using these advises...
34 out of 36 episodes are full of misunderstandings, misunderstandings & (you might have guessed) misunderstandings.
The ML is kind of the worst actor in such dramas I've seen for a long time and I can hardly find any real chemistrie between those two Main Leads...
Not to start of that annoying mother of FL - "Hey, go have a Blind date with someone. If you don't like him, just tell me, i won't force you..." - "Ye mum, i don't like him" - "ok, but go on a date... ".
You could probably name any cliche you've seen in such dramas and this will most likely used it aswell...

There are only a few Reasons you might wanna watch this
- Supporting Family of the "richer" part (Kinda rarely)
- FL is just gorgeous, problably 1/10 most beautiful acress in asia region
- the little niece is creating some funny moments with her misunderstandings

Bad acting

First of all, this is more about CHINA actors/ actresses portrayal of their roles that are often lacking but yet they gotten it just for the sake of being in the " series" or for the sake of how " popular" they are as a " traffic stars"...so much different than those actresses/actors in Hollywood, Korean, etc that gotten popular because they are really good. Here once they gotten POPULAR just from one drama then they will get number of offers regardless of whether they are really good or suitable for the roles. The company will then heavily promoted them ( $$$$) but are they really deserving it?? I witnessed many actors/actresses that are not that good, but being made to look " good" by all those positive comments ( paid) all over the social medias to boost their popularity.
As for the case here, Dylan acting is actually not great, his voice is lacking the punch and he relied more on " dubbing" on his previous dramas so in this one with his own voice it shows more of his shortcoming, that put his potrayal of this role not up to standard and his facial expression often is too stiff or overall done. So, I cant get immerse into the story because the is no chemistry between the leads and for me, I put more emphasize on the acting than visuals. Of course I understand the fans want to say good things to protect the idols but honestly, acting and good storyline is what get an audience want to watch the dramas, although fans will watch it for the visuals mostly or just to support their idols.

Beautiful , fast paced

I liked the story and the chemical between the characters. It is romantic and has many kissing scenes. I like that the girl is also independent and successful by herself. Also the 2 secondary couples are cute. Women are independent and at the same time they can show love. The same for the male lead and the secondary male actors. I would recommend this drama for those who like fast paced and romantic dramas. I enjoyed watching this couple becoming entangled in the beginning and then suffered when they separareted for a while...

Amazing story

I really love this story. I also recommended this story to my best friend. I really enjoyed reading your insights and the way you presented your ideas was clear and engaging. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and perspective with us.
In my opinion this story for new generation.
Usually I never comment on any drama but this is so convincing that I never stop myself to say something about it. You’re doing a great job. Keep it up. This is really amazing. In the enchanting world crafted by the author, "Whispers of Eternity" unfolds as a mesmerizing tapestry of emotions and vivid imagery. The characters breathe life into the narrative, their complexities skillfully explored. The prose is a symphony of eloquence, seamlessly blending poignancy and wit. The pacing, a delicate dance, keeps readers eagerly turning pages. Themes of love, loss, and resilience are interwoven with a touch of magic, adding a mystical allure. While the climax is both heart-wrenching and triumphant, the denouement lingers, leaving a bittersweet aftertaste. "Whispers of Eternity" is a literary gem, a testament to the author's mastery in storytelling. Each page is a brushstroke, painting a canvas of emotions that resonate long after the final chapter.

"A Heartfelt Romance Where Ambition Meets Love in the Modern World."

Only for Love is a refreshing blend of romance, career ambition, and emotional depth, making it a must-watch for fans of modern Chinese dramas. With compelling performances from Bai Lu and Dylan Wang, this drama beautifully balances love and personal growth.

Story & Pacing

The drama follows Zheng Shu Yi (Bai Lu), an ambitious financial reporter determined to make a name for herself. She sets her sights on an exclusive interview with Shi Yan (Dylan Wang), a successful yet reserved CEO. What starts as a professional pursuit soon develops into a heartfelt romance filled with chemistry, challenges, and mutual growth.

The pacing is steady, mixing workplace drama, romance, and emotional moments without feeling rushed. While some tropes like the cold CEO and determined female lead are familiar, the execution feels fresh and engaging.

Characters & Acting

Bai Lu shines as Zheng Shu Yi, portraying her as confident, intelligent, and emotionally layered. Dylan Wang’s portrayal of Shi Yan is equally strong, bringing depth to a seemingly aloof character as he slowly opens up to love. Their on-screen chemistry is undeniable, making every interaction feel natural and heartfelt. The supporting cast also adds charm and humor, enriching the story.

Visuals & Production

The drama boasts modern, sleek cinematography with stunning cityscapes and stylish office settings. The wardrobe choices reflect the characters' personalities, enhancing their appeal.

Music & OST

The soundtrack is soothing and romantic, complementing the drama’s tone. The emotional scenes are heightened by the music, making key moments even more impactful.

Final Thoughts

Only for Love is a heartwarming and mature romance drama that stands out with its strong leads, engaging story, and realistic relationship dynamics. It’s a perfect watch for those who enjoy modern romance with a balance of career and love.

perfect

I think after watching so many k-dramas, c-dramas, I feel this was pretty good one for 2023, as I think the story line is as simple as our life, we general humans make mistakes and regret. According to me not all people are able to express themselves clearly this is the same case as FL. I loved the quality, ups and down and flow of characters. In real life a company owner never marries an average girl or a rich working women never marries a simple boy. this is just our imagination, lets enjoy it.
