Compelling and brutal
Went in with zero expectations only to finish it with a few tears down my face and to think this could be happening in real life. I hope there's a season 2.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXCCCCCCCCCCCCÇCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCcccccCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Never seen something like this.
I don't generally watch this kind of drama as the common topic is always bullying. But this drama... Man this was on another level. This was so good and thank god i wasn't exoposed to the spoilers. If you know whats going to happen in the end then you better don't watch it cause you won't be able to appreciate it. The acting was top notch. Literlly no one can beat jihoon for his acting in this drama. Also i rarely cry watching dramas and this drama made me cry.I actually don't know how to discribe this drama, would just say this was amazing. Just go for it.

All of this to fizz-out at the end
I loved this Drama... until the last episode. What a let down.. seriously.... I went in expecting a "Killer Girl K" vibe but in the end it did not deliver.
If not for the stellar cast, I may have dropped it. Not violent enough for my taste and definitely no payout at the end. You are yearning for Beom Seok to get what's coming to him for being a gradeA dirtbag, but no... he just gets to walk away unscathed....
They don't even give you the satisfaction of the last beatdown in the new school. This alone left a real sour taste in my mouth.
I heard there's a new season in the works... meh... is it even worth bothering?

Overhyped
I did try to understand what's behind the hype, but.... there's nothing (but fight maybe?...)I feel like i lost so much time for something very bland.
There's plenty of good drama on the bully subject, this one is really not bad but not good either, it's useless..
When people is talking about this drama, it feel like the best thing ever, but nothing great happened.. I am suprised actually !
Definitly not for me

Weak hero class 1
Well I know this is one of the most hyped drama (I will not say overhyped since it is really well played and at the time I do not think there was any other as liked "revenge" type of drama) and I probably did not watch this at the right cause it is after Friendly rivarly and meantime Buried hearts (so there is already revenge) and after Newtopia (so violence also was tthere) - I just should have watched something lighter waiting for The divorce insurance - but moving on, still not bad rating, simply not for my The best of 2022's list.Okay moving on to characters (I will write actors' names but I am writing about characters):
Park Ji Hoon - he is amazing actor, his role is totally different from At distance spring is green (Love him there) or Love revolution , his character at the beginning made me think that he would work great in The uncanny counter (maybe someday if we will get season 3 - also now I want him, Cho Byeong Gyu, Kim Sejeong and maybe Roh Jeong Eui in one drama) - in my opinion he for the first time had real friends, so he became really close to them. Also I think he felt guilty, that it was his fault that CHW was taking revenge and that is why everything bad happened (although great bromance - I really see only frienship between him and the rest of guys), in the end he needs to heal after all this trauma (it is clear that it is there) - also he was not weak, since episode one he knew how to fight and knew how to protect himself, the weakest in this was HK.
Choi Hyun Wook - he did not deserved what happened to him, but he isn't a saint (none of the main 3 is to be honest - violence is not the only solution), he was super friendly and maybe it is the reason why some people got wrong idea (guy number 3) or maybe he is bi if we really looking into boy/boy love. Spoiler - it was said that he will not wake up - so I guess his injuries was so bad that he is in pernament coma, probably brain dead.
Hong Kyung - guy number 3, well his father is sh*t, so in this terms there is a lot of reasons to feel bad for him, also I do believe that he fell in love with CHW (maybe his sexuality was a reason for bullying in his former school), if all of his actions as some people are saying was because of instagram then it is literally the most stupid reason, it was simply jealousy......but still his actions was wrong, nothing justify this, he went too far and he is not a victim (at least he felt a little guilty and cared that CHW was in bad condiction, still he is a villain in this story).
Lee Yeon - she did nothing wrong!!! it was not her fault at all, she was more like a sister to CHW, he took care of her so it is only natural that she wanted to be close to him and it is clear that she was more into PJH (and I would like them together), she also did not really wanted to exlude HK, it was also new to her, keep in mind that she also did not have normal life.
Also nice to see some actors I knew from other dramas: Shin Seung Ho, Cha Woo Min, Yoon Jung Hoon, Kim Su Gyeom and Jo Han Chul (totally different father from Love next door). Worth mentioning: Na Chul (RIP).
I think that there were a little too much violence and too little their friendship/bond, they keep telling about killing - so none of them was saint neither right in theirs behaviors - you cannot beat violence with violence - but it is this type of drama and it is about bullying (extreme level). Ending make it clear for me that no matter where you go the same problems, violence and bullies will be there.
I do not see a reason for season 2 to be honest, but if it will be released I will be watching. I understand why people love it, it reminded me of Dokgo rewind, acting is perfect, episodes are short but there is actually a lot happening, so to sum up yeah it is worth watching.

except for soo ho who's in coma and beomseok betrayal, the whole story is different from the webtoon
the only thing lacking abt the drama compared to the webtoon is how the relationship between si eun and soo ho started. I don't think it make sense that si eun just come at soo ho's table out of nowhere and asking to have a luch tgt, he's not even type of person who's gonna have a conversation with anyone in class?for reference, in the webtoon it's soo ho who's come to si eun first bcs he was curious how is this kid still can concentrate and always studying even in the very uncondusive class
if you wanna know only this drama's story on webtoon, you don't have to read the whole webtoon, you can just read it on ahn soo ho chapter

My Thoughts
I finally got around to watching Weak Hero Class 1, and wow—this drama hit different. It’s not your typical high school drama; it’s raw, intense, and honestly, a little hard to watch at times because of how real it feels. The story follows Yeon Si-eun (played by Park Ji-hoon), a quiet but insanely smart student who becomes the target of bullies. But instead of backing down, he fights back in a way that’s calculated, strategic, and honestly terrifying at times. What I loved most about this drama was how it portrayed violence—not in a glorified, action-packed way, but in a realistic, gut-wrenching way that makes you feel every hit. The bullying scenes were hard to watch, but they were necessary to show how brutal and unforgiving the world can be when you're perceived as weak. Si-eun isn’t your typical “hero.” He’s cold, distant, and methodical, which makes him such an interesting character. Park Ji-hoon’s performance? Absolutely insane. I knew him from his idol days, but this role proved he’s got serious acting chops.
The friendships in this drama are another highlight. The bond between Si-eun, Ahn Su-ho (Choi Hyun-wook), and Oh Beom-seok (Hong Kyung) felt so real, which made everything that happened later even more painful. Without spoiling too much, let’s just say—this is NOT a feel-good drama. It’s heartbreaking, frustrating, and at times, infuriating.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say the pacing was a little slow in some parts, but honestly, that’s a minor issue. The cinematography, the fight choreography, and the acting more than make up for it.
Would I recommend it? 100% YES, but only if you’re ready for something heavy. This isn’t just a drama about school violence—it’s about survival, trauma, and the consequences of being pushed to the edge. And with Weak Hero Class 2 confirmed, I’m both excited and scared to see where the story goes next.

Was this review helpful to you?

Deserves much more appreciation!
Completed WeakHeroClass1 and uffff I am so so so impressed with the whole cast especially Park Jihoon. The plot was so intense, always kept me at my toes. The amount of emotions I felt especially the fear, agitation and sadness. Weak Hero Class 1 deserves all the appreciation! The theme of the story is definitely about students who struggle through bullying in their school (which is a huge problem in Korea) and it's not first time it is done. But ! once you watch Weak Hero Class 1 you will understand how it's different. The character of Park Jihoon and how he faces everything head on despite of being a struggling weak Kid, is what makes it different. Was this review helpful to you?
