Typical M&B romance
!! Beware !! Please leave your logic out the window when you decide to continue watching this, coz I'm telling you, there will be a lot of ridiculous, inconsistent and illogical scenes in the story that will make you fume and drop this 😂Luckily for me, I did just that and I get to enjoy and finish until the last episode.
The only redeeming quality here, imho, was the nifty acting skill of Fan Zhi Xin... It was truly impressive and did justice to his character, the first time I have realized he has real potential.
Watch this purely for romance (if you have time and patience) and just go with the flow. 😉

Strong Relationship
I really do like their relationship. I feel like even their breakups made sense to the story and weren't just to creat angst cause the writers didn't know what to do next. I love how she always chases him, not because she lacks dignity but because she genuinely loves him and has faith he cares for her too. And people say she cares more and puts more effort, that's only outside appearances. I think it makes sense for his character that he takes so long to say I love you. If you watch him every time she tells him she loves him he looks kind of amazed and scared. He says he never thought he would find love, but he found her and she becomes his whole world. I love how his walls seem to fall down with her. And I love how insistent she is with him. She's not just a simpering ninny who let's things steal her love and life and hope. But she fought for it and supported him no matter what. I love the part when she interups his engagement ceremony. It was so refreshing that he ran after her right away. I also love when he tells Tang Lin that "There's always someone in this world who is more important than your life." After being hospitalized from having a panic attack because he forced himself into the ocean to save Manning.I did think her best friend was very obnoxious and can't understand why the MLS 2 friends fell for her, I couldn't stand the chick. And Tang Lin sure had some guile and delusional tendencies (narcissistic). The part when she's crying after he leaves their engagement ceremony? To answer her question. No liking someone isn't wrong. But ruining an obvious devoted relationship because you think you have the right to a taken man is wrong. I wanted to slap her and tell her to get over herself. Like seriously, you can obviously tell how much he and Manning love each other but she clearly is too much of a selfish twit to care more about someone else than herself or to feel any indignant dignity of being unwanted. She's the real one with no dignity. And I guess she does redeem herself in the long run but jeez she was annoying. I couldn't even bring myself to feel bad she was embarrassed the way she was when he left. Serves her right.
A few things I didn't like was how the plot got a little slow and, how the lighting was set every time there was a damn kiss. Jeez, you could hardly see them because you were being blinded by a random strobe. And it made it unnecessaryily cheesy. I wish I could tip the directors that NO ONE LIKES IT when they do this and they need to stop doing it.
If I was rating the main romance aspect of the story it would be a 9.5-10. But because the story got a bit slow I took my overall rating down to a 9.

Melodrama: Watch at your own risk
Used to be: 6.5Now is: 5
Pros:
-chemistry (10/10)
-ost is very very good (10/10)
Cons:
-they have a long break up period (broke my heart and they didn't even try fixing it fast enough)
-plot holes within plot holes (I know this is drama land, but like, this drama took it way too far)
-unrealistic actions (way too many)
-after watching this much, whenever I see the ml's face (the actor's face) when looking for dramas, my brain goes "nope" and turns to the opposite direction. Like dude actually scares me. The actor himself is probably a decent dude, but this drama has scarred me.
I had to stop because of the break up period. I did some research, and it says they won't get back together for a while. :( I would call this a melodrama, which I do not like.
So, like I said, watch at your own risk.

As soapy as they come
Summary (VERY dramatic): While there were some interesting elements of mystery, action, and tear-jerkers, the first half of the show reeked of American soap opera, in which the main characters were getting targeted every few seconds by an overwhelming number of villains and circumstances felt intense all the time. The scenes were just missing the dissonant organ music. Lol. I do appreciate the overarching theme of water (and how it tied into the plot), the short episode length, the redemption of certain villains, and the subtle address of Asian oppression by umm certain other races. The story also keeps the audience guessing who the real culprit is.The first few and last few episodes had lots of interesting story and character development. However, the nonsense in between could have been removed. There were too many contradictory elements thrown together. Many scenes were overly dramatic in the beginning with multiple slow motion replays, which took away from the story. The plot twists felt unbelievable to me, crossing professional and personal lines in all sorts of ways, and possibly entertaining inbred(?) romance. Not sure how the guy got over the fact that she had nearly the exact same face as his sister.
The female lead was portrayed as timid, needy, and naive; whereas, the male lead seemed so put together, always coming to the rescue. Also, some of the supporting characters were a bit annoying. I got sick of the juvenile dialogue and immature character behavior by Episode 9 and nearly dropped the show by Episode 16 when some weird scenarios were introduced.
I ended up pushing past Episode 16 to finish the show but feel the episode count could have been condensed to 3/4 the amount. I personally wouldn’t re-watch this show.
Details: The international espionage scenario in the beginning got my attention but unrealistic scenarios made me want to stop watching. It was strange that everyone, including the competitor company, was watching Shen Man Ning like a hawk because they already believed she was a fake? Also, HOW MANY TIMES does Yan Xing Cheng have to rescue/pick up Shen Man Ning and carry her??? I was starting to feel bad for the guy. Lol.
The main characters were really smart in some ways and really stupid in other ways. Considering that Yan Xing Cheng had several years to perfect his revenge, he somehow missed a lot of details in preparing the unfortunate Shen Man Ning for her new identity, which often led to their peril. I wonder what would have been Yan Xing Cheng’s original plan with his blood sister for getting back into the Zhuang family. Still pretend they were engaged?
One contradictory and disturbing scenario was how they tried to play it off as romantic that a woman was getting choked by a guy who looked like he was about to kiss her as well. If he was a true gentleman, he wouldn’t have laid hands on her no matter how much he hated her.
It felt unfair that Shen Man Ning was portrayed as timid and naive, about to fall apart at any moment, while everyone else around her (including her own family) seemed so strong and domineering. On top of that, she was also getting threatened by Yan Xing Cheng when she wasn’t getting bullied by her new frenemies. It’s also strange that all she could think about was her romance after getting kidnapped three times and not to bǎohù zìjǐ (like when they were looking for the brooch). They did a lot of staring and hugging and kissing in time sensitive situations, which could have been spent figuring out the truth.
As far as the supporting characters, I could barely stand the selfish, immature, and idiotic bff Rao Mei Na whose rude and loud behavior seemed out of sync with the movie. Why would you NOT be concerned that your childhood friend hasn’t gotten back to you in such a long period of time? Most sensible people would check with others on the missing person’s whereabouts, then report it to the police if they couldn’t find them. When she does finally see her friend, she totally loses all her manners and ignores professional etiquette in front of everyone. She was also super mean to her friend, seeking apology, instead of finding out what exactly happened to her, how she went missing.
Zhuang Jia Kai and Tang Lin were also annoying to watch (although Tang Lin was better towards the end). Also, why did the female supporting characters keep harassing and throwing themselves at men they barely know, who also thwarted their advances? Reeks of raging teenage hormone type stuff.
Towards the end, the story finally started to get interesting and make sense in relation to their past. However, they threw in some last minute plot twists and left little room for Yan Xing Cheng to have a meaningful conversation with his beloved relative as well as provide more backstory. And since Shen Man Ning kept talking about being together forever, they could have thrown in a wedding scene at the end rather than fill up the time with more staring and cuddling.
Side Notes:
- What’s with all the candles in a lot of the scenes? In the company office, in the garden, etc.
- The constant hair changes of the male lead (professional vs. casual) is so much like K-drama; one of my pet peeves. Lol.
- Why did Shen Man Ning bite Yan Xing Cheng’s hand? That part makes absolutely no sense and adds nothing to the story.
- How it took 10 years (or was it 17 years?) for EVERYONE to seek/find Zhuang Xin Yan; considering their access to technology and an abundance of henchmen, it seems it should have taken much less time than that
- How the female lead’s best friend Rao Mei Na got a job at the same jewelry designer even though she majored in animation(???); one would think that they’d be more qualified to work at a gaming company rather than a high-end jeweler
- Liu Group having power to barge in LH Star’s office, set up meetings with any employee, and force a collaboration contract; how were they able to get past the security gates in the lobby in the first place??
- I realize there’s only three of them but it seems like Yan Xing Cheng’s henchmen were a bit clueless when it came to convert operations (like getting bitten by a dog, or getting spotted easily in front of a restaurant or inside a parking garage); they often seemed unprepared…

Something new and fresh
I liked the FL in A camellia Romance cos she is pretty cute and acts well. And I am liking her in this show as well thought it’s a bit slow but that is because is more matured than normal cdrama. I like the twists and turns in the drama and the fact that their next move is always unpredictable. I think I would have to rewatch it though to fully understand the show but so far so good 😊. And also I noticed they do not repeat outfits constantly. Another thing I can wait for the FL to fully embody the character she is portraying Xinyan and Xinyan was shown to bold, brave and calculative. I can’t wait for her to stop being a scaredy pants. Was this review helpful to you?

Opinons
Story: Oh, I could dive deep in the story. It was amazing! Twists, turns, Plot twists, etc. The story in a quick summary, *Yan Xicheng (Yan Yi) Had been seeking revenge on those who killed his parents and tried to kill him 17 years ago. Shen Manning, Had been a substitute as his wife to get more information on them.*
Just the story alone could have been a whole book.
Cast: I loved the Cast, Though Fan Zhixin carried most of it. I wouldn't say FL was bad. Confidence was a bit more prominent in Fan Zhixin, not as much to FL. But the cast was amazing. Now, the Second Leads Were so Funny! Fang Xiang, and Meimei. Such a funny duo, I had previously seen them in Time to fall in love as AnAn, And Situ. They act great together, a cute couple and have sibling energy that I'm here for.
Music: I didn't pay too much attention to it, But the Main Theme and the little moments with no talking and just music were cute. Having the romantic music behind them, intimate moments. Also the intense moments, Scary. It added a lot to the whole 'Lethal' mood. Though the Main theme was my favourite.
Rewatch Worthy: Definitely, I rewatched it a lot! It was such a good show to rewatch, even though I knew what happened I still liked seeing the moments I didn't remember. Most importantly, Just assessing the things I missed. There was a whole ton I could've missed that I can catch and Laugh at. The whole show is amazing to rewatch. Definitely Worthy of it to.
Overall: Just a whole survey over it, It's in my head a ten. I found this to be my favourite drama and it still is to this day. When I first watched it from the first few minutes I was captivated by it. I definitely recommend it!

This one's doe Yan xingcheng
Only thing I wanna say is the actors did a great job... Especially the male lead... I mean he has such an incredible talent for acting and he's just 24...lol I'm 22 and jobless....Let's appreciate his effort.
Loopholes and flaws in the story are not his problem, it's for the writer to think about.
Female lead was kinda on and off but she did perform well.
Other supporting roles did a great job too.
P. S : They should've reduced kiss scenes, I mean romance doesn't mean kiss though!!
If you r wondering, yes this review is biased!
But thanks for your time though.
If you liked the male lead you'll agree with me.
Have a great day!

Once You Star To watch It You Won't Stop.
A complete different story that I have not seen before. I became obsess with this story. The leads have such great chemistry and sincerity for the story. The twist and turns leave you scare and worry. The characters that come in and out of the story gives you a hate and love relation with does characters. Is it a mystery or just suspense. It is both and with a romance in between. Who to trust, are they family or enemy. All the questions you will ask as each episode goes on. All the actors performance is great. Once you start to watch it you wont want to stop. Was this review helpful to you?

Live action version of old Harlequin novel
I like reading Harlequin novels once in a while and modern releases are quite refreshing & enjoyable. My Lethal Man is like an adaptation of old Harlequin novels. Full of clichés!Pros:
1. Pacing - It was good. Despite the clichés, I managed to finish this series within 2 working days.
2. Fan Zhi Xin - Handsome. Gosh his jawline & cheekbones. His acting was ok. He seemed to have fun in behind the scenes.
3. Romance - Plenty make out scenes 😝
4. Supporting male leads - I like them both!
Cons:
1. Male lead characterisation - Domineering, sullen boss type.
2. Female lead characterisation - Damsel in distress type. Needs saving all the time except when hero was recovering from mental breakdown and when she came with plan for necklace. I think those were only times she took charge.
3. Mystery - quite predictable.
4. Li Mo Zhi - She's older than Fan Zhi Xin and it shouldn't matter but for this drama, I think Li Mo Zhi could have soften her facial expressions so conflicts can be expressed better.
Favourite scene
When they made out at the bridge. I like when male lead hugs female lead from behind.

ML was the MVP!!
ML literally carried the whole show on his shoulder from start to end for me, just loved his character a lot,...The story is filled with plot holes and gets awaked by the similar face of the FL and ML's sister thing, even though they were not related but still, it was difficult to ignore the fact that ML was madly in love with someone who looked exactly like his sisterbut the romantic scenes are directed quite well....there are quite rare shows with such good kissing & intimate scenes
BUT What the Hell was that asthmatic breathing of FL?? It was kind of embarrassing and annoying to watch her act like that, personally, I didn't like the acting of FL much...was only able to complete this solely because of the ML, I hope he gets better projects
