Good acting carries a seen before story.
You have probably seen this story before: young love torn apart by adults who disapprove of the relationship, leaving two people forever changed and pinning for each other for years. Until they are reunited and now they must decided if fight for their love and move on.Story-wise, the script brings nothing new to the genre. There's the angst and pinning, unreasonable and manipulative parents, the flashbacks to happier days, the depressing present life of two adults who can't move from that time in their lives. Almost every decision made it's based on that brief time in when they were happy.
The first half of the drama we must meet the characters to understand their motivations and why they must heal first before contemplating whatever or not they want to be together. It's very frustrating. Particularly because of how manipulative leading lady's mother is. She has no absolutely no redeeming qualities and it's been a while since I wanted to strangled a fictional character so much.
The second part of the drama is less frustrating. Characters start to snap out of it and becoming far more proactive into trying to build the life they want for themselves, with the support of friends and peers.
Yang Yang and Wang Churan carry this drama with their performances. Their chemistry is off charts and they deliver a strong melodrama full of action, angst, personal trauma and romance, heightened by the life or death situations the leads find themselves in because of their field of work.
Overall, a solid story.

40 episodes are…
exhausting. the need to watch 40 episodes for a drama is tiring… sorry.The reason why i watch this is because of Yang Yang. And i’m happy to say that he is quite good in FoMH. But i’m sorry i need to say that why the heck is the stylist gave the ML the worst outfit??? Song Yan without his uniform is a mess, i can not 😭😭😭 Saw him with a mismatch outfit giving me this depressed feeling…
The FL is pretty and she has a melodic voice (?). despite all of her scandals, i must agree that she is quite pretty but need to level up her acting skill.

Definitely not a re-watch drama
I liked the gradual build up in the initial episodes but as their story further unfolds, you will find that there was nothing really to tell about. It was highly unrealistic, female protagonist was consistently shown in a bad character, if you want me to hate her so bad why not make her a villain. Her behaviour could even be justified but you got to make room for audience to do it, instead every other character in the drama is shaming her for it.The chemistry between them is also weak, at some point you wouldn't even want them to be together because it seems to look like a toxic relationship, which includes yang yang patronising her most of the time.

BROMANCE
If you love medical dramas with a sprinkle of romance, this drama is for YOU! The two leads met ten years ago, and due to family issues, they were forced to part ways. Years later, they encounter each other. Will they reconcile their love and fight the forces around them, or will they give up? Well, outside of the romance with the female lead.Bromance: His relationship with the firefighters gives me joy to watch. The team's trust, dedication, and commitment to each other were worth watching at some point; even if it were firefighter drama, I'd watch their relations.

Slow burn but too slow that I had to skip episodes
I am pretty much new into C drama as compared to k drama. I haven't watched any work the Leads before so I am not biased anyway.The story is good, could have been better!!
Song Yan (ml) and Xu Qin (fl) were a couple and loved each other like crazy but fl's mom is a snob and tore them apart. After years they met and the story starts...
The good parts -
Omg the rescue scenes, these are really worth watching the show. So realistic and well executed screenplay.
The emergency ward is also pretty good and also worth watching.
The charecter development of the FL is good thing to watch, she eventually moved on from her toxic family and realised that the toxicity of her mom is something she must deal with in order to keep her own peace.
The loyalty of the ML is just unrealistic yet it's something a girl can cherish for. His charecter development is also good.
The tension between the two is something to be enjoyed in this show. Whenever they are facing each other the emotions just come out and quite visible from their expressions yet they try to hide and it's really add perks in their chemistry.
However the parts I really didn't like-
Many episodes feel like repeating the previous one. I mean it was predictable that in next episode there will be a rescue scene and Qin will approach Song Yan when she is absolutely clueless what to do if Song Yan comes back, because she has no guts to leave her toxic family.. later on she matured and moved on but that could have been done without repeating episodes.
It's a good watch, I enjoyed a lot and I would say it's a must watch for once!
But ngl I won't rewatch it as it's too slow.
P. S - Yang Yang is too hot to handle ;-)

Excellent Drama .......... Highly Recommended
OMG.. have you ever watched a bit of a drama .. then dropped it because it just wasn't making you fixated enough on it???What a big mistake I made when I first tried to watch this once it released.
The drama has the intensity of life that tends to be overlooked by so many. It's a kind of drama that will hit you right where it counts.
To see, how certain occupations and the heartbreaking tragedies hits not just families, but the comrades they fight next to.. especially when you see them doing it for the lives of many.
Even during Mother Nature's wrath .. is a time when the citizens not only make sure their family is protected but use their cell phones to protect those who are still facing the wrath of Mother Nature with no protection. Guiding those of dangers in certain places that they should avoid.
I am so glad that I decided to watch this drama again. It taught me that .. if you can't be out there helping others ... there are other ways that will allow you to reach out to those who don't have the protection & safety of being inside their home or safely inside.
It's not just a community... but a country who cares, fights, protects & respects their own.

FL acting is bad
I watch this drama because of Yang Yang. WCR ( although is the rumor gf) don't suits this character.but... when WCR acted in Have a Crush on You (2023) is absolutely better and nice. just that i dont understand why this drama her acting is really really bad.
No doubt that Yang Yang acting is still that standard. just that FL really bring it down.
Even alot people say YCY have bad acting, but i think she do it fine. and she have been improving.
Both couple chemistry is not enough for me to continue to watch.
Sorry Yang Yang, i have to drop this.

Most improved + most worsened character = Mediocre
I started this because the trailer looked somewhat interesting. While the series is reasonably watchable, it is overall let down by poor story writing and character development.Unlike other reviewers, I don't find the FL to be that bad. Yes she starts off as being a bit selfish and indecisive. When she was in her teens, that is totally excusable. Once she started making demands on the ML to get back together, these flaws become less acceptable. However, FL also demonstrates the most improvement in character across the series. By the end, she begins to understand the meaning of sacrifice and begins to stand up for her career and relationship goals. The mother is overbearing but that is by design obviously. Wang Churan is also especially good in the role. Her acting is very good for a relative newcomer. Coupled with her undeniable beauty and charisma, you can forigve her in the initial episodes until she becomes the one you want to root for. She also has more emotional material to work with - anger, disappointment, sadness, determination, etc.
In contrast, the ML went in the opposite direction. He starts out as the most sympathetic character - prosecuted by the FL's mother, heroic, self-sacrificing. But towards the end, his character showed near zero development and becomes especially annoying. This is of course a problem with the script writers. I intensely dislike poorly-motivated plot drama. Drama is of course good and necessary, but it has to be the result of understandable, realistic motivations. In the latter episodes, the drama is in the form of ML refusing to communicate with the FL on the crap that her mother put him through. All in the name of "not making the FL sad". This is complete BS. I know of no one who would refuse to share with their other half a simple account such as "your mother destroyed my career". Perhaps this is the typical stupid "strong silent toxic male" that perhaps the scriptwriters think is sexy. Yang Yang is of course the pretty veteran of Chinese TV. But his performances are always the same and his acting has seen marginal improvement since his early days. His roles always call for being the perfect stone-faced male (also the case in this show), because maybe that's about all he can emote. His fans can continue to swoon but it is boring.
In the end, the most interesting plot points are left to the side characters. The fireman who had the relationship with an older doctor but died for example. Overall, a mediocre show.

Not for me...
This is only my second cdrama. After Hidden Love, I was excited to try other cdramas. The fact that both leads were good looking and the story sounded interesting, made me try this one.Alas, this isn't for me. Many people loved it but I found it a bit dragging. I felt that it didn't need that many episodes at all.
Except for Yang Yang, who was very easy on the eyes, and the guy playing Jiang Yu, no other characters were that notable for me.
The FL's character was very flawed. And while this was probably the writer's intention, she came out as a beauty with no brains woman for me. She would probably do well as other characters but as a doctor, she failed to make it believable for me.
After half the series, I finally stopped.

good firefighting scenes, anything else is meh
i watched this after A Date With the Future which was also another firefighting show as both are aired around the same period. i must say I have really high hopes for this as compared to the latter because of Yang Yang. but after watching this, it's really hard not to say that even the cast cant carry a bad plot/ character.right from the start, i didn't liked song yan. his character was not likeable not even in his own team. the only thing that made him better was his bromance with suo jun (my fav character played by zhang bin bin but too bad he was just a small role - his story was very much more interesting than ML). although there are a few questionable scenes that made me doubt song yan as a best friend. for more than half the show, i barely seen song yan express any form of emotions, it is as though he is at the top of the world. him as a firefighter leader, hmmm very strict with the people, there's always scenes of him doing some stunts to which everyone else cannot do btr. him as a lover? almost bland. female lead was fiercely chasing male lead and confessing her love but doesnt really apologise & explain for what her/her family have done? i dont really feel any sadness/pity between their love story. ML was showing her a black face half the time/ if not rude and i lost track of when he started to realise he still likes FL(?). wang chu ran is ok as an actress but doesn't really bring out her role as a doctor. hardly any chemistry as pace of the show is quite strange.
plus point for this show would be the firefighting scenes are quite well done.. i would skip the romance. nothing too in depth on song yan's character development with other people too. it's a barely pass show for me.

you are my hero wannabe
tried watching this bc i love you are my hero and a date with the future. in short, i love police, firefighters, and doctors trope but FOMH lack originality and its not realistic. the fl just as the chinese claims is a lovesick and not strong fl. the ml is a A-list actor but the acting was average. its true that hes handsome and we cant dont anything if the outcome of expression looks the same but heck Xiao zhan is considered the most handsome actor in china and yet managed to deliver a different expression n good acting. the only good thing about this drama is their chemistry and their visual 🙃Was this review helpful to you?
