Not bad but Not Good.

I don't want to say my brutally honest review cause I'm scared of those crazy fans making us feel bad for criticizing this series.
Y'all have to understand that criticizing, hating and opinions are three different word with three different meanings.

The show would be great if the producers made more effort into it.

The story line was okay HOWEVER the execution and acting?! A big no, specially for the main characters. (Some of the support actor are okay and even better than the main one's)

I don't know if the director is okay with this series but I'm not.

I cringed at most parts (try watching the action scenes with the main actors)

honestly some of the casts needs more workshop not just the main actor.

I'm a bit concerned about the actor cause maybe there's a reason he wasn't at his best on this series.
I hope he's okay and wish for his happiness 😊
I noticed that on his eyes and expressions by the way he executes his Acting. (I've watched between us and he's way better back then ).

Watch at your own risk, if your a fan maybe you'll like it cause of the actors but overall it's not good.

This was so confusing…

I have to say, I was so excited to watch this, and was let down in SO many ways. I had to force myself to finish all 10 episodes, hoping that it would get better along the way, just to be let down.

I’ll start with casting. I LOVE BounPrem and they were the main reason I was so excited for this series, but there was just something so off about their acting? Where was the passion? The supposed “love” the characters had for each other that was so strong? Both characters just felt so flat and borderline emotionless sometimes.

The storyline all together was a LOT. So many things happened within 10 episodes and it felt like none of it ever reached a true conclusion. I was left with more questions than I was answers. The whole concept of going into Punn’s memories really made no sense to me, and I can’t figure out if I’m just too dense to understand it or if it really made no sense. How was Punn seeing things before Ramil ever entered his memories to alter them? And if Ramil put his half brother into eternal sleep, how’d he wake up and somehow magically possess Jett? Also, why was Ramil SO chill with the fact that Punn killed his entire bloodline??? Punn was like, “I’m sorry I killed your family and kept all their necklaces as trophies” and Ramil was just like “yeah sure, no problem!” like….And time just stopping when they go into the painting apparently? If that were the case, when they came back out after Ramil was healed, then wouldn’t there have still been a fight going on between the vampires and hunters? Why did Pokpong faint from getting bit on the arm??? There were just SO many plot holes and confusing things happening throughout this series.

Overall, the cute and funny moments were nice, but I would’ve liked to have seen the more serious and dark side of the plot explored more. How do vampires become vampires? How do they survive without a blood source? Ramil said he was born a vampire, but the hows of the other brothers becoming vampires was never really explained or explored. If there is going to be a second season, I’ll be hoping for something much better than this.

Utter Disappointment

It's disheartening to see the stark contrast in quality and care between GMMTV's hetero shows and their BL offerings. The hetero series consistently receive the benefit of strong writing, skilled acting, competent directors, generous budgets, and thoughtful cinematography, they are given every resource to succeed. Meanwhile, BL shows are consistently treated as an afterthought, leading to a cycle where the company prioritizes quantity over quality.

My frustration has hit a new peak after watching "Revamp." It is the perfect example of everything wrong with this system: a show with a terrible story and downright mediocre acting, where the production was clearly okay with delivering a subpar product. They gave us a fundamentally broken show and hoped the BounPrem ship alone would make us accept it, relying entirely on their fanbase to consume this rubbish.

This is why I am so tired of fans providing inflated ratings based solely on their favorite ships, rather than a show's actual merit. We must collectively raise our standards. If we don't demand better, we will never get it. To quote Tyra Banks, some of these shows are so bad you "wanna give you a 0 but that's not possible so I give you a 1."

While we have been gifted a few exceptional BLs, they are rare exceptions. Why can't studios take a creative risk on BL narratives? We should be sold a compelling story first and foremost, not just a marketable pairing. I don't care about a ship if the actors cannot deliver a believable performance, that is the simple truth.

All I want is for BL stories to be treated with the same respect and given the same production love as any other genre. I am tired of the constant letdown. Many fans accept mediocrity because BL is still considered a niche market, but being niche is no excuse for inferior quality. This genre and its audience deserve the same level of excellence, and it's time we stopped settling for less.

This story rewards patience and attention

This series is for viewers who are willing to slow down, pay attention, and actually think. It doesn’t spoon-feed its story, and that’s exactly why it works for me.

The comedic elements are very intentional. They’re not there just because Ramil is a “goofy vampire,” and Punn’s seemingly unbothered attitude isn’t indifference, it has purpose. In fact, Punn is a character you’re not meant to fully understand at the beginning. The confusion is part of the experience.

What may initially feel like plot holes gradually make sense as the story progresses. If you stay with the series, you’ll realize that many details are carefully planted, and the twists and turns are genuinely rewarding. This is a story that reveals itself in layers.

The relationship at the center of the series is complex and deeply intertwined. Their connection feels like going in circles, almost fated, and it becomes clearer over time how each choice, memory, and moment matters. The story wouldn’t be what it is without that journey.

To be fair, my main issue with the series lies in the editing. Some action scenes, especially knowing how much effort the actors put into them, didn’t translate as well onscreen as they could have. A few editing choices weakened moments that otherwise had strong potential.

Is this series perfect? Of course not. I’ve never watched a perfectly flawless series. But this one resonated with me deeply. Its themes, characters, and narrative ambition made it something special. And perfect for me.

I never knew I needed a pookie vampire in my list of faves.

By no means was this a perfect production – but I wasn’t looking for perfection when I hit play. I just knew BounPrem would deliver a great watching experience and they did that in spades!
The vampire lore plot actually had a lot of legs, and it was one of those times I wished a show had a few more episodes so they could delve deeper into the story. But what we got was really well done.
I particularly enjoyed when Ramil walked through Punn’s memories, and how all those earlier episode threads were neatly addressed. So well done!

I loved the vampire brothers and their differing personalities. They could absolutely give each one their own show, and with that puzzling end scene with Methas shaking hands with guest star Junior Panachaileads made me believe that could happen? Fingers crossed, anyway!

The only question I was left with was, why they went into the painting so soon? If it was to stop Punn aging, surely they could have waited a few years, spent it with Pokpong until little bro was grown.

Worth the watch to see Boun’s yearning eyes – so dreamy.

I had higher expectations

While I love Boun and Prem, I had higher expectations for this series. Watching the first trailer (with Santa and Boss) may have shaped what I wanted from it, but honestly, I expected more.

Boun and Prem have great chemistry, or at least I thought they did. Yet in this series, it felt like they were awkward with each other at times. There were moments when I genuinely sensed that they didn’t want to be near one another, and that had nothing to do with the vampire vs. human aspect of the plot.

Speaking of the plot, where was it heading? It felt like it lost its initial direction halfway through. I was also slightly disappointed that the series turned into a romantic comedy instead of sticking to the darker tone presented in the trailer. The script made characters like Ramil, Punn, and Methas appear silly in scenes where they were supposed to be tough fighters.

We did have some fun cameos (IYKYK), which I appreciated, but it wasn’t enough to redeem the plot for me. Additionally, the suggestion of a possible pairing between Aun and Pokpong was disappointing. I was truly invested! They had such great chemistry, and I felt let down that their storyline went nowhere.

Nonetheless, because I adore these actors and the story is not unbearable, I’m giving this drama 7 stars. I can’t rate it any higher because I was genuinely disappointed by the time I finished watching it.

When are vampires going to act like vampires again?

I was seriously disappointed in this show to be honest. I was really excited for it because I love the actors and love vampires, but this was really bad. The story was really interesting in the beginning and at the end, but the middle needed so much work. The middle was quite boring to be honest. I know they left the ending the way they did for a season 2 but I hope they just end it there. Nothing against the actors because they all did well.

Revamp the Lacklustre Story

I was so invested in this. I actually was. The first 4 to 5 episodes had me interested. And this was a surprise since I don't really fuck with vampire shows. I only watch them to get a good laugh cuz I find them cringe. But the first episode of this had me hooked and I was so intrigued to see where the rest of the story would go. It was dark, the set up was solid, and visuals looked amazing as well. I thought we would be getting a past-lives kinds situation and I was so excited. Then the whole "mysterious hunter" plot twist was happening and I was getting more excited because now we have "star crossed lovers" kinds situation, and then... nothing. For a vampire show, something I don't usually like, they had everything for an amazing series, but the delivery was highly lacking.

Plot:

The plot of the show was solid. We had the curse, the vampires, and the hunters. We understood why the hunters were hunting the vampires, and why the vampires were being hunted since their leader was basically stuck in a painting. I liked this. Love it in fact. Nothing is more exciting than the classic hunter-hunted dynamic. Now, where the plot lost me was with the main leads. I'm sorry, but why were Methus, Mhekin and Ciar the ones moving this plot forward and not Punn and Ramil? Like I would get one of the servants. But ALL of them?? You have to be shitting me. I get it, this a romance as well, but Punn and Ramil fell in love so quickly that it makes no sense as to why they wouldn’t be moving the plot forward instead of getting dragged by it. Like bro, Methus and Ciar are the only reason why any of these motherfuckers are even alive. They be doing all the heavy lifting and finding all the essential details of this war and how to stop it.

Now, speaking of characters...

PUNN:

At first, I was debating whether I vibe with him or not. I greatly appreciated the conflict he was having with his brother, and I really excited to explore that and find out why he didn't to live with him. But then when he broke Ramil's curse, I was like eh...? Cuz brother had the most lacklustre responses to everything, and I was starting to think it was an acting thing. Which would be impossible because Prem is an amazing actor. But I kept trying to reason with myself because maybe that's just how he is. But no, his actions made no sense to me either, like: not freaking out when Ramil was in front of him instead of the picture. Casually bringing him to his house. Not putting up a fighting when they asked for his blood. Staying with a bunch of vampires. Helping Ramil find his servants. None of these actions made any sense, and it confused me, because was this how the character was written? Because if so, then I'm very confused on the writer’s part. I don't like unreasonable characters, but Punn was too reasonable and that made no sense either.

AND THEN, as I was having this two hour long internal conflict about his character, I clocked something. He was the mystery hunter. And while I was proud of myself for figuring that out before the reveal, I more so had a "oh" moment. Because suddenly all his actions and lack of surprise just made so much sense to him. And they even hinted it in the first ep, but it was so subtle that no one would have caught its double meaning and I loved that. But then... that was it. We had the reveal and... yeah, that's it. There was absolutely no tension because they still loved each other. Which is great an all, but Ramil just found out that the love of his life is his enemy and we're doing this emotional chasing arc (which wasn't even needed in the first place) without even trying to fight it. And Punn didn't even fight his attraction that much to begin with either to be fair. And let's not even get onto the fact that boy legit forgot about his brother who had been so integral to him and the whole reason this started until he goes missing. Idk, this whole character was genuinely so interesting only for it to fall so flat.

RAMIL:

*Sighs* I love him. I genuinely do. And part of it most likely has to do with Boun playing him and I love Boun. Ramil really made me laugh in the first few episodes. I'm a sucker for the trope of non-human begins figuring out how humans and technology works. And it was nice to see how soft-hearted and cute he was for a vampire. But that was all his character was. A puppy. He was meant to be this great Vampire that ruled over all the Vampires and was the scariest vampire to ever vampire and yet... he wasn't? For a while, that would have been fine, but what bothered me was how he still refused to fight humans even though THEY were killing HIS people. Like?!? I'm literally on Ciar's side through this whole show cuz while this boy might have been childish and bratty, he was the only one making any sense half the time??? Ramil is supposed to protect the vampires, and yet, he didn't even want to fight against them?? Like come on.

And this whole love-sick devoted boyfriend thing got annoying so quick. Because that was all he was. The was genuinely no development for him beyond the fact that he loved Punn and that was it. Man was angry but folded in two second cuz of a kiss. I just got tired of his character cuz all he did was act cute and innocent and that's all fine and dandy if it were a normal series with humans, but he's a vampire for fucks sake. The only part where he was seriously intimidating was during that first ep where he nearly strangled Punn.

Other stuff:

Honestly, if it wasn't for the side characters, I probably would have skipped this show as a whole. Methus, Mhekin and Ciar were carrying this show on their fucking backs. They were whole reason we even had a show to begin with because our main leads were so fucking clueless about everything until Methus, Mhekin or Ciar told them everything. And their interactions were the best part of the show and I wanted more of them on my screen. Methus being the only one that can control Ciar?? I know that's right. Methus deserved to rule the vampires and I'm so glad that he got to. Boy deserved it after taking care of everything cuz Ramil was fucking useless!!!

And the relationship between Mhekin and Pokpong was so wholesome. I don't even care if they like each other not (though, I do ship it lowkey), I needed more of their interactions. They were a breath of fresh air from all melo-drama was that RamilPunn.

As for the hunters... eh, I guess I can give them my flowers. Did I like the emotional manipulation and gaslighting that went on between Elise and Punn? Absolutely fucking not. I was screaming at my screen cuz bitch what the fuck? But they were consistent, had motives, and got shit done. Even if I did not vibe with the "redemption arc" they were put through. But whatever. I guess we can't have villains when we have a big bad at the end that was the true villain.

Honestly, final thoughts, Methus, Mhekin and Ciar are my babies. I love them. Give me ten more eps of them in a slice of life and I'll be happy for the rest of my life. And more of AJ and JJ together in one show. I need these twins on my screen together more. One is hilarious enough as it is, but two is whole comedy show even while they’re talking about how kill vampires and shit.

When a good concept does not survive implementation

Revamp the Undead Story is a story about Punn (Prem Warut), owner of an antique shop, who frees Ramil (Boun Noppanut), a powerful thousand-year-old vampire, from an ancient painting. Punn finds himself in a complicated situation when he starts helping Ramil regain his powers while being part of a team of vampire hunters.

Honestly, it's a good premise, the idea behind the story is great...
But damn it, what New did here makes no sense at all. Like all of director New Siwaj's series, it starts off well, it starts off interesting and captivating. But from the middle to the end, it seems like everyone gets lost, and you kind of just finish it because “Oh, I'm already here.”
The choreography is well rehearsed (despite the slightly weak special effects), but it lacks camera work to make it more realistic, and the use of different sound effects—it's not possible for every punch to have the same sound. The dynamics of the vampires are very interesting. Methas (Mark Jiruntanin), Ciar (Barcode Tinnasit), and Mekhin (Aun Napat) have very good interactions. The way they all met and actually respect Ramil is a cool thing to see. The sets and costumes are also good choices.
So you ask me, but what's the problem?
The main couple's dynamics are sabotaged.
It's no secret that Siwaj doesn't know how to direct couples to the point where they look GOOD together, which makes me very sad, particularly because he used to be very good at it. This isn't the first time New has worked with BounPrem; he already directed Between Us, so what has been lost since then?
The interactions are superficial, the main couple seems to have a friends with benefits relationship, and the situations to deepen the dynamics between the two are... forced, so to speak.
But then we come to another point: the writers.
The choice to have Ice Chalermpong and Seh Thanaporn write a script together. He did series like Never Let Me Go and she did The Trainee. Without getting into the topic of these scripts individually, but both do series with different styles, he uses drama as an outlet and she uses comedy. And they didn't find a middle ground.
So the dramatic scenes are crude and the comedy scenes are heavy, and the whole series is stuck in this rut.

Revamp had interesting potential, I expected something better after Golden Blood, but it seems we haven't gotten very far. The series could have been the best in the supernatural genre, but the potential was wasted and the obligation to deliver quickly overshadowed the act.

This wasn't good I fear

I went into this with decently high hopes. The first couple of episodes were great, in my opinion. The character establishment was fun. But I do think their first mistake was making a direct reference to MGB - which was a much better vampire drama.

This was my first BounPrem fronted show and I didn't walk away with glowing reviews for them. I didn't feel like I had any reason to be all that invested in Ramil and Punn's romance and the love scenes were entirely lacking spark.

The storyline literally went nowhere. There was all this buildup to discovering Feratu and then all it took was one swift stab and we're done? We also see no real discussions after between the Hunters and Ramil's family unpacking all that spilled blood and trauma. Jett literally doesn't even get to bring up being possessed, he's just like ✨️la la la gonna work at the orphanage✨️.

I kept watching it hoping it would go somewhere interesting and it just didn't

Absolutely loved it!

I finished the show today and went to check it out here. Rating of 7.3?? Did we watch the same show? I was sat and entertained from start to finish!
Did it have plot holes? Yes. Did I care? Nope. It was obviously made with love for all the characters. Episode 6 lives rent free in my head, I watched it twice.
Will put it on my "watch again" list :)
