Typical Japanese Rom-Com with a BL Twist!!
Mr Unlucky Can Only Kiss is one of the many recent BL dramas that Japan has been making. In the past, Japan was known for low-budget and B-list BL films, but lately Japan really has been stepping their BL game up by making dramas. While Japan is still lacking in making dramatic and memorable BLs like the Thais and Koreans, Japan is starting to make BLs like their usual rom-com style of mangas to dramas. Mr Unlucky is a very typical Japanese rom-com, but with a BL twist!~~ STORY ~~
Mr Unlucky is based on a BL manga, so I recommend reading it before watching, or reading it after. I remember reading the manga a few months ago, before the series was announced. I remember going, "Oh yeah! I read this before." but I actually don't remember much of the story. The manga was your typical BL manga. It's a fun read, but nothing special that makes it memorable. The drama is the same. It's your usual Japanese style rom-com following the "Hatsu Koi/First Love" aspect that Japan loves so much.
Mr Unlucky follows the story of Shinomiya and Fukuhara. Shinomiya is very lucky, but Fukuhara is very unlucky. At first, Fukuhara uses Shionomiya for his luck, but eventually falls in love. It's a very typical rom-com trope that has been used thousands of times. Mr Unlucky doesn't really do anything to make their story memorable, so it follows all of the normal tropes. The only thing that makes Mr Unlucky memorable is the fact that the guys are hot, and it from Japan, who is finally starting to make big-budget BL films. Other than that there is nothing really memorable about it. Honestly, as someone living in Japan, Mr Unlucky isn't really all the hyped up here. Cherry Maho, Kieta Hatsukoi, and Zettai BL in Naru definitely got more public spotlight than this series.
~~ OVERALL ~~
Mr Unluck is a cute rom-com, but it's nothing special.
It's a great one time watch, but it's not something that I'll be watchin again any time soon.

Sweet but hilarious
This drama won a special place in my heart!I wasn’t particular into BL and/or Jdramas, but this drama?
"Mr. Unlucky" is uber extra, yet so relatable - one has no chance but to like him!
Both leads are to fall in love with. The story makes sense and gets told in a way, which is well paced. Some surprises and different POVs as added toppings.
It is a highly entertaining mix of hilarious with underlying depth.
Totally worth to be checked out!

JUST ANOTHER JAPANESE BL THAT WE WILL SURE WATCH MANY TIMES
Japanese BL has always had this kind of feels in me whenever I watch some, They have a different attack on making a school romance that makes us watch not only once. This drama is just so pure, we can even recommend it to the youths, there is no stress, the story is easy to understand, it opens everyones eyes also that being a teenager is more that just what other people thinks it is, even teens and youths is just going to school, talk to friends do school project, they face emotional and psychological stress most of the time and this is what tha character Koto is implying, like he is too youth to realize that he has that bad luck and to be an outcast which is depressin and I think that finding love is one thing that can at least ease those stresses as what the story implies
I loved seeing new faces in BL world like this two, they are both have that beautiful eyes.
Their acting is just like in the Anime, like their facial expressions, their interactions, and the way they talk to themselves and being stumbled because of some realizations.
Im definitely watch this again, its kind a too soon to end for such a love story they have.
Definitely a good recommendation for everyone, very light very pure very easy to love

This was a really cute drama, so sweet and funny. My favorite character wasn't Fukuhara Kota, Mr. Unlucky himself, though, but his love interest, Shinomiya Naoya, Mr. Lucky and goodness personified. And, boy, was he good! Good and simply kind. Just because he could. And my favorite moment in the whole drama was when Kota realized that he was no better than those using Naoya, mooching off his good luck. When he defended Naoya against the bullies - only to realize that he himself was no better. That realization and Kota's admission - and the fact that Naoya didn't get angry, he just didn't want to lose Kota...
Kota's progress throughout the series was so interesting and good and Naoya was his kind rock throughout his whole self-discovery process. Funniest were then the moments when everything kept going wrong for him, that was hilarious!
Overall a short and sweet story that allowed me to discover Sato Yusuke who played Naoya. Loved him here!

This was adapted from a shounen BL manga, that I think had 8 chapters
This was adapted from a shounen BL manga, which I think had 8 chapters. I'll include a link to the manga, remember everyone this is a shounen BL drama, so not Yaoi. When it comes to Japanese Shounen BL, (Not Yaoi) there are not really a lot of kiss scenes, that happen in the mangas too. Sometimes it has to do with the actors not feeling comfortable with the scenes (whether you guys know it or not, there is quite a bit of actor who has performed in BL shows, who find themselves uncomfortable doing kiss scenes with other males, even though they're in a BL show. This has happened in many BL dramas from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, etc-) or the company that the actor is a part of has set limitations as they don't want the actor's fame to make a "turning point" whatever that means. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys why these things happen in case you come across a BL like that.Overall I really like the show, as I was excited to see it as a drama as I have read the manga a long time ago, there are more mangas that are becoming BL drama. Like old-fashioned cupcake and some other mangas I read.
I would definitely watch this again, and read the manga. It's not meant to be confused with a Yaoi BL, so I reminded myself that throughout the series.
I think everyone should give it a chance, I wanted more for the ending but it is what it is.
Here is a link to the manga: https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/fukou_kun_wa_kiss_suru_shika_nai/
Another show that's been adapted from a manga is Senpai, Danjite Koidewa!/ Senpai, this can't be Love! and it's on Viki :)

It was fun to watch and enjoyable
They were so cute and funny together. I loved them even though it felt like they were friends because they didn't kiss much, but I respect how Naoya didn't kiss Kota unless it was under his consent. I really enjoyed watching this maybe 7 times already. I just love their cuteness and how funny they were. Especially how innocent Kota seemed, it was so good with Naoya's vibe. I loved this couple so much and I recommend watching this. I don't know what was missing beside them not kissing much but it was something there that made me love it, but not as much as I should've. I wish there was more to it, but I don't blame Kota for being the way he was. Also I love how Naoya made Kota feel loved instead of feeling the way he did about himself before. Naoya made Kota feel safe with him and it was so cute. I also love how he mad hi feel like he didn't have to act with him.Was this review helpful to you?
With the mental readiness to watch this series one by one every episode, I almost completely fell in love with this series. No doubt this series has a vibe that reminds me of My Love Mixed up, which is fun-hilarious-funny and (of course) silly.
Japanese series always make me smile every time I watch them, this one is deserves more stars actually 🥺
In Indonesian:
Tak ayal series ini vibenya mengingatkanku sama My Love Mixed up, yakni fun-hilarious-funny and (of course) silly.
Japanese series selalu buat saya sumringah setiap habis menontonnya!

Fofo!

Looking forward for the remaining episodes and exciting scenes.
Indeed, Japanese BL never fail to disappoint me :)

Cute....
I'm only reviewing this after only 1 episode and not having read the manga but I kinda love it. Japanese humour I just adore, it's that over the top craziness that I personally connect with. Very pretty main leads, interesting array of side characters. The premise of this reminds me of Kieta-Hatsukoi with the popular lead thinking the more chaotic lead has fallen for him, so bumbling guy pretends and then actually does fall for the guy. Hopefully that makes sense. I'm imagining it will be light, sweet and best of all lacking in too much drama. Sometimes you just need fun fluff and this looks like this will be right up my alley. Was this review helpful to you?

Gostei bastante do casal.
Porque a gente fica esperando… esperando… e nada. Unlucky Has No Choice But to KISS".
Gostei
