Holy shitttt

So much fun!! Absolutely terrifying but also very cute! Fantastic twists, foreshadowed perfectly to the point where you can figure out that something is wrong but not quite what. My only issue is the way that certain plots were resolved felt rushed and unrealistic. Gagged and gooped. Tw abuse, self harm

SECRET RELATIONSHIPS - REVIEW

Story: Secret Relationships is one of those dramas that constantly keeps you second-guessing everything you think you know. Every episode reveals another layer of the characters, making it almost impossible to view them the same way from beginning to end. What I loved most is how the series isn't afraid to explore darker, more uncomfortable themes. Every relationship is messy, intertwined, and deeply toxic in its own way, yet the writing makes you understand why the characters make the choices they do. No one feels completely innocent or entirely evil, and that's what makes the story so compelling.

The flashbacks are also one of the drama's biggest strengths. They aren't just there for exposition—they gradually provide the missing pieces, showing how these relationships were built, how they flourished, and ultimately how they fell apart. Every revelation adds new context and completely changes your perspective. While it's not a light or easy watch, it's an emotionally gripping drama that rewards your patience with excellent storytelling and complex character development. If you enjoy psychological relationship dramas where every character has depth and hidden motives, this is definitely worth watching. Overall a captivating and well-written drama that proves not every relationship is meant to be healthy, but every story deserves to be understood.

Acting/Cast: The cast delivered strong performances across the board, making every episode engaging and emotionally intense. Each actor brought depth to their character, allowing the tension, manipulation, and emotional conflicts to feel believable and keeping me invested from start to finish. The standout for me was Kim Ho Young. His performance was captivating, especially as his character gradually unmasked his true identity. Every revelation was executed with precision, making him the driving force behind many of the series' most memorable moments.

My only criticism is that the romantic aspect felt underdeveloped. While the psychological drama and character dynamics were excellent, the romance lacked the same emotional weight and chemistry, making it less impactful than the rest of the story. Overall, the outstanding performances easily outweigh this minor flaw, making the acting one of the drama's strongest assets.

Music: The soundtrack did its job in supporting the mood and emotional tone of the series, but it never stood out as a defining element. None of the tracks were particularly memorable or left a lasting impression after I finished watching. While the music fit the scenes well and never felt out of place, it was more of a background complement than something that elevated the overall experience. Good enough for the story, but ultimately not a standout aspect of the drama.

Rewatch Value: Despite already knowing the outcome, Secret Relationships has a high rewatch value because of how cleverly the story is structured. The flashbacks at the end of each episode become even more rewarding on a second watch, as they provide the missing context, reveal the characters' backstories, and explain why each of them has such a powerful emotional hold on Jung Da On.

What initially feels confusing or ambiguous gradually makes perfect sense once all the pieces come together. The final episode, in particular, delivers a memorable twist that completely recontextualizes the story and leaves a lasting impression. It's the kind of series that's worth revisiting—not just to relive the suspense, but to catch the subtle details and foreshadowing you likely missed the first time.

More in the future please!

📍Characters:

Daon is a character you get to know very little about.
Sungyeon is a cute lead, but he's too perfect to feel real, which takes away from his impact.
Jaemin was an okay villain, but again, you don't get to know much about him. He felt too one-dimensional.
Soo Hyun was the most interesting character out of all of them and had the best entrance, in my opinion. The actor really stood out.
The chemistry between Soo Hyun and Daon was stronger, but I still loved that the main leads ended up becoming a healthy couple.

📍Story:

There was no real character development for the lead characters, and their one-dimensional approach made it hard to care about them. Only Soo Hyun seemed to go through some change, I think.
I really liked the pacing of this drama and how they revealed new information at the end of each episode, it made it fun to watch.
The script and dialogue were simple but effective. They did the best with the limited time they had, though it definitely could have been better.

The ending was sweet, but I cringed so hard when they revealed that the leads had known each other since they were teenagers. I absolutely hate that trope and think it should never be used again!

📍Production:

There were no memorable OSTs or BGMs.
The cinematography was good.
The casting was okay overall. Especially Kim Jun Seo, who played Daon, did not deliver a strong performance in my opinion. Cha Jung Woo, who played Soo Hyun, was definitely the highlight.

✨️Final thoughts:

I loved to see a BL Kdrama with more than one lead. I hope we will get more in the future ❤️

Terrible show

I do not understand the hype at all. This migh t have been the worst thing i have ever watc hed. The characters make no sense and are o ne dimensional. The mc is really spineless an d soo annoying. They dragged it so much and made sure to hut every cliché they could pos sibly think of, which is irritating. The guy that he ends up with has no boundaries and cant t ake no for an answer. I get that hes supposed to contrast the two toxic ones but hes just too nice, always coming back after being yelled at, rejected and just disrespected. Nothing made sense. Just awful

Secret Relationships — A Mystery You'll Never Experience the Same Way Twice

Some dramas are built to be rewatched because you notice new details every time. Secret Relationships isn't one of them. This is what I call a "one-shot drama." The first watch is absolutely addictive because you're constantly trying to understand everyone's motives, guessing who is telling the truth, who is manipulating whom, and who genuinely deserves Da-on's trust. Once you know the ending, however, a large part of that suspense disappears. The story is still excellent, but the emotional roller coaster can never hit quite the same way again.

Adapted from McQueen Studio's popular Kakao webtoon, the series keeps what made the original so compelling: it isn't really a love triangle—or even a love square—but a psychological drama disguised as a BL. Every man surrounding Da-on represents a different form of love. One is possessive, one is manipulative, one is selfless, and one forces him to question what he truly wants. Rather than asking "Who will he choose?", the drama asks a far more interesting question: "What kind of love actually allows someone to heal?" That is where the series shines, and director Yang Kyung-hee wisely leans into the psychological tension instead of turning the story into a conventional romance.

The acting is what elevates the entire production. Kim Jun Seo carries an emotionally demanding role with surprising confidence, especially considering this is his first leading acting role after his idol career. Da-on never feels like a passive victim. Instead, you can see years of trauma shaping every decision he makes, even when those decisions frustrate you. Cha Sun Hyung, Kim Ho Young and Cha Jung Woo are equally convincing because none of them play simple heroes or villains. Every character believes he loves Da-on, but each expresses that love in a completely different—and sometimes deeply unhealthy—way. That ambiguity is what kept me invested until the very end.

What impressed me most is that the series refuses to romanticize toxic behaviour. It certainly portrays obsession, emotional manipulation and dependency, but it never pretends those things are healthy expressions of love. As the mystery unfolds, you slowly realize that the safest relationship isn't necessarily the most passionate one. The final choice feels earned because the story carefully dismantles the illusion that intense love automatically means genuine love. That's a much more mature message than many BLs attempt to deliver.

My only real criticism has nothing to do with the drama itself but with a broader trend in the Korean BL industry. Korea continues to produce excellent BLs, yet they often feel like launching pads for promising young actors before agencies move them into mainstream television. Once an actor gains recognition, returning to BL still seems to be the exception rather than the norm. Compared to Thailand or Taiwan, where many performers continue building long-term careers within the genre, Korea often treats BL as a stepping stone instead of a legitimate destination. It's frustrating because productions like Secret Relationships prove that Korean creators are perfectly capable of delivering sophisticated queer stories. What the industry still lacks is long-term commitment to the genre and the actors who help build it.

The production quality is also worth mentioning. The office setting gives the story a welcome sense of maturity, while the cinematography frequently uses tight framing and muted colours to reinforce Da-on's emotional isolation. The series rarely wastes time with unnecessary subplots, making every episode feel purposeful. If anything, I actually wished it had been longer. With only eight episodes, some emotional transitions happen faster than they probably should, and a few supporting relationships could have benefited from more development. Even so, the pacing never loses sight of the central mystery, which is what keeps the series so engaging.

Final Thought

Secret Relationships is one of the strongest Korean BLs of 2025 because it understands that romance alone isn't enough. It builds suspense, explores trauma, and forces its characters to confront unhealthy forms of love before they can recognise a healthy one. It's not the kind of drama I'll revisit often because so much of its brilliance depends on discovering the truth alongside the characters. But for that first watch, it's almost impossible to stop pressing "Next Episode"—and sometimes, that's exactly what great storytelling is supposed to do.

An emotional ride

This series is a true emotional rollercoaster — intense, addictive, and brilliantly acted.
The toxic relationships and twisted dynamics kept me hooked from the very first episode to the last.
Each scene is charged with tension, showing how fragile and dangerous human connections can become.
The actors deliver powerful, authentic performances that make even the most uncomfortable moments fascinating to watch.
Most of the time I was left speechless in the best way.
A bold, gritty, and unforgettable experience that lingers long after the final episode.
Make sure to watch this masterpiece.
You won't regret it.

Trust No One In his BL Drama

There are so many plot twists with characters changing from bad to good & back again, you just need to watch it completely out before you know who you're rooting for in this excellent BL Drama.
Jun Seo is amazing in his role, along side of Sun Hyung. Both are a great fix together.
All the actors in this are great throughout.
I found that once I started watching it, it was really difficult not to binge episode after episode. Each one ended, where you just wanted more. Your heart aches Jung Da On with so much torment in his life. This is really way beyond a normal BL series, but rather a mix of a strong drama along with a few thriller moments as well.
Very enjoyable with lots of excitement.

The Stars Have Spoken, Falling All Around Us

This drama was such a rush!! And so brilliant! The actors really made this a work of art! There’s your average run-of-the-mill dramas, then there’s THIS, and I was not disappointed! This drama had cohesion and consistency in this well-composed story of love, betrayal, and manipulation.

This drama focuses on Da-On, who works for the Strategy Dept of a large company in Korea. For the past 11 years, he’s held long-time romantic feelings for Jaemin, who’s been his friend and colleague since their days in University. He’s made multiple attempts to profess his feelings to Jaemin, much to no avail for the fear of rejection outweighs the urge to come clean with his desire to be with him.

Seong Hyeon is a new colleague that just joined Da On’s dept. Hyeon has just arrived the scene, and he is already very curious about who Da On really is. Even though he’s in the dark at the start, he starts developing a special interest in Da On, wondering what makes him tick, and doing his own homework on his new favorite subject…

Su Hyeon has known Da On for 7 years, and has been weaving himself in and out of Da On’s life over the years with his volatile and demanding attitude. But behind all that anger, he’s been hiding a secret that no one else knows about…

Throughout the series, it tells a vivid narrative of how the most unsuspecting individuals have the most to hide, and how easy one can be moved like a pawn with just the right twisted strategies. Friends are not always who they pretend to be, but you’re in so deep with them already, they’re like a snake ready to devour you.🐍

This drama was so immersive in the way these characters interact and flow with each other. The chemistry amongst these characters is so palpable its static that’s felt though the screen. The acting was so strong, it was inspiring and made this series that much more elevated. Also, i love the music in this series, greatly contributed to the drama.🎵

This would be the 2nd time I’ve watched a drama and it felt like an exclusive event that only a select few get to experience(the first time was Tempted). Watching characters be possessive with each other has never been so enticing nor as delicious as this…💜

A quote from the series:-
Love isn’t about levels, it’s about heart. As long as we have unwavering trust, and offering sincerity to each other, that’s all that matters for love.

P.S. the ending reminds me of the premise for the manga Boys Abyss iykyk🥲

Finally a breather after a haul of mediocre KBL in 2024

I thought KBL already loose the grip of the genre long ago but fortunately, they got back up. Secret Relationships might not be your best choice for KBL but a decent runner-up on the higher tier. Solid acting, diverse character and not your typical romantic genre. Lead actors got me hooked & hopeful since the start.

This drama is amazing

The drama is so worth watching!! I was going into this kinda skeptical because majority of Korean BL lack a good story and don’t really have convincing acting. So this truly surprised me. No cringe plots or stiff acting. No useless scenes and straight to the point, i never got bored. The actors are amazing and execute their roles perfectly. The only thing is that i wish it would’ve been longer or we had more scenes of their college days. Other than that this drama is top tier. I can’t stop rewatching it!!

Extremely toxic, but so good!

Wow this was one of the most toxic bl drama's i have seen, but it was so good! The story was great, complicated and with several plot twists. And oh my, the actors who played those two psycho's did such an amazing job.
The visuals were amazing and the music very good!

The acting was top notch and the chemistry between the mains was great, so were the kisses.

This is a must watch! I will definatly watch this many more times in the future.
