Judging behind a screen is cowardice.
So, first off Esther yu . I did not like her for her acting, or so I thought. BUT I cannot form judgmental and petty critics just because she’s filthy rich and cute.
So, that was cowardice led by a tricky sense of superiority as a viewer. She has proved more then enough she deserve a compliment for gaining expertise and improving considerably her talent.
Watching this drama is like getting a hiccup during some episodes and being literally pulled in by other with unexpected twist. All cast was really good together, excellent job at casting, directing, and a special shut out to the gem that is Jolin jin. Uau, she’s magnificent. Honestly, the really insufferable thing of asian dramas lately is this trend of starving the actress and actor to a point that you concentrate more on the protruding bones of their bodies instead of the acting, which leaves such a sad , sad aftertaste. If you don’t have an eating disorder, just by watching them you might developed one. Back to the drama: there are spot not explained well, and the ending it’s caotici at best, even though very well performed. So, my final word: let these people eat so that we can enjoy the drama without getting anxious that one of them drop dead due to starvation.
Good job with the martial art parts, but a bit commercial.

I Watched My Journey to You for Zhang Linghe, But Stayed for Cheng Lei
I just finished watching My Journey to You in 2025, and honestly, I started this drama mainly because of Zhang Linghe. Before watching, I did a little research about the story and the ending, and I saw a lot of people complaining about the open ending and how Zhang Linghe’s character was pretty annoying compared to the second lead. But the visuals looked so aesthetic that I decided to give it a try anyway.It took me six months to finish this drama because it’s really slow-paced with lots of dialogue. In the beginning, I often watched it in fast-forward or while multitasking because, to be honest, it made me sleepy.
Everything changed around episode 18. There’s this scene where Gong Sangjue, played by Cheng Lei, is looking for Yuanzhi, who’s being hidden in a cabinet. Yuanzhi was paralyzed for a moment, so he bit his tongue to make himself bleed because Sangjue can smell blood. When Sangjue realized the smell wow, that scene was just so intense and cool.
That moment completely hooked me. I actually restarted the drama, but this time I focused only on Sangjue’s story and skipped everything else.
The drama itself is beautifully shot, full of poetic dialogue, and the story is actually good. But the pacing is slow and the heavy conversations can be a bit tiring. The main character, Ziyu, wasn’t really my favorite—he was way too obsessed with Yun Weishan and didn’t seem to care about his family at all. Meanwhile, Sangjue? He was amazing. Logical, mature, strict yet caring, and deeply protective of his younger brother. He follows the rules but knows when to fight for what’s right. And the way he was with Shangguan Qian? Total tsundere vibes, and I loved their chemistry even though I knew their story wouldn’t end happily.
By the end, the plot twists really showed how great this drama is, and honestly, it made me want to watch more of Cheng Lei’s works.
Overall, My Journey to You is worth watching if you appreciate aesthetics, complex dialogue, and layered characters. Just be ready for a slow burn. If I ever rewatch, it’ll be for Sangjue and Yuanzhi’s scenes only.

Gong Shangjue is the real ML
Very biased review coming - nothing much about the drama, just me gushing over Cheng Lei!I really love Zhang Linghe but Ryan Cheng overshadows him by miles in this one.. His ruthless 'villain' character was so multifaceted and believable - unlike most wooden unfeeling similar characters. I also get why MLs are usually the mean/mysterious ones.
I always find it weird like why would these mean/unfeeling people be the main characters and the nice and truly good people always end up being the 2ML. In real life, no one wants to fall in love with those kind of people. Seeing the swap in this drama made me realise that obviously not in real life but if in a drama, I guess I too prefer the mysterious handsome man~~
That being said, I don't think he's better looking than ZLH but man, his acting in here is just too good to overlook and it makes him soo attractive! And his character is not like the usual ruthless characters where they don't smile at all, look constipated and wooden all the time. I just couldn't help falling in love with Gong Shangjue <3
To be honest, the whole cast really did a very good job.. Don't know why I waited this long to watch this! (I know why - I had A LOT of reservations about Esther Yu - cannot deal with her usual baby voice, but everyone was right, she's really good in this). I would say I really watched the whole thing because of the cast and the camerawork - every episode is so beautiful, if they made it less black I'd probably be happier. The story itself is not without flaws, the flow of the story and the role of the spies could be made better so I'd only give a 7/10 for the story. The drama was saved by the beautiful cast and their acting skills.
Also going to pretend the last 5 minutes didn't happen.. What's with cdramas and their endings these days

Great Potential but Sorry.
This drama had all the makings of a stellar drama. Good actors, great production, and a great idea for a drama. Sadly, the 2nd male lead overtook the male lead and he could give you such a nasty look, that it would stop you dead in your tracks. Normally, I love both actors but if you’re going to be a male lead then you should be written as one. I felt the FL wasn’t one. She got thrown to the curb while all the men in the family dealt with their own issues with each other.Loved the sister. She added a bit of comic relief. Poor Jin Fan. But you love who you love. He had no choice from the start.
Did not appreciate the ending at all. If a person invests so much time in a drama trying to read fast subtitles and having to rewind them just to really read each word, it should be better than this.
Would not watch again. once was enough.

Dark, Addictive and a Seriously GOATED Cast
My Journey to You was such an addictive watch. First of all, the cast was absolutely GOATED. Yu Shuxin, Zhang Linghe, Cheng Lei and Lu Yuxiao were incredible. All four brought something completely different to the drama, and I honestly became invested in every one of their characters.The plot was SO good. The mystery, secrets, betrayals and constant feeling that you couldn’t completely trust anyone kept me hooked. I genuinely couldn’t stop watching because almost every episode made me want to know what would happen next.
I especially loved the darker atmosphere of this drama. The scenery, costumes, lighting and cinematography gave it this mysterious, almost haunting feeling that was so different from the usual bright historical C-drama aesthetic. It was absolutely beautiful.
And the chemistry!! Both couples had such different dynamics, but both worked incredibly well. The tension between the characters made even the quieter scenes interesting.
This is also one of those dramas where the supporting characters actually matter. Everyone felt like they had a purpose, and the cast as a whole was ridiculously strong.
My Journey to You had mystery, romance, action, beautiful cinematography and characters I genuinely cared about. Definitely one of the most memorable C-dramas I’ve watched.

Amazing drama
I would have rated it 10/10 it is wasn't because of that ending. I was like where's episode 25? I mean, all of episode 24 was indication of finale, every story closing, but that ending...WTF!!this is the first drama where every single episode really delivered something great. Only at the end I forwarded some bit where they reminisce the past. Every single character was well delivered by all actors. the only one I hated was the weapons making sister, she was super annoying - I fast forwarded all her scenes.

A top tier mystery, martial arts, historical drama that will hold you in tight from start to finish.
I really enjoyed this drama! The dark tension, the suspense, the careful unfolding of the story lines and the development of some very complex characters all held my attention from start to finish and it definitely impressed me with it's top tier level of quality! The writing (plot, characters, setting, dialogue ... ), the performances, the OST and the cinematography were most often exquisite and there were many moments where a character's loyalty and love for another ... genuinely moved me. I hope that there will be a follow up series but, even if there isn't, this was time well spent. My feelings for each of the characters kept shifting and, for me that made this drama quite captivating. It was a memorable story with provocative leads and intricate relationships. And, I have to say, I'm actually quite sorry that I finished it and it was over so quickly. I wish I'd savoured it a little bit more. So I'll easily rate it at 9.0 to 9.5. I'll be re-watching it in the near future. And I will totally recommend it to you, if you're looking for a high quality, martial arts, historical drama. Yu Shuxin is the main female lead in My Journey To You that played the character role of Yun Weishan, the secret spy that will enter the Gong's residence. She proved to everyone that she's a very versatile Chinese drama actress and singer that can accept challenging and not her usual roles just like in Love Between Fairy and Devil and A Romance of the Little Forest and Sword and Fairy 6. She even lost some weights to be able to satisfy her role as a spy and requirements of the director. All the casts are very promising and the story is well written that the viewers will be captivated to watch until the end and having a 24 episodes is a bit short. Cheering for Season 2
I'm really into this kind of drama, and here's what I love about it: The cinematography is stunning, the dialogue is captivating, those slow-motion fight scenes are just perfect, and the mystery keeps me hooked.But there's one little thing that bugs me about this drama – the lip color they put on the male leads. It's not a big deal, but it stands out to me.
I get that not everyone might share my passion for this genre, but I'm a big fan, just like I am of "Sword Snow Stride." I'm really hoping for a second season for both of these shows, and I'm definitely cheering for it!

I AM SO PISSED RN!!! I just finished watching My Journey to You. I died at that ending. I wanted to unalive myself. WTF WAS THAT OPEN AHH ENDING?? I HATE OPEN CLIFFHANGER ENDINGS WITH NO SEASON 2 IN SIGHT. WHAT THE HAIL. WHO WAS THAT FREAKY MASKED PERSON AND THE DUDE IN HER TWINS HOUSE?? AND WHY DID THEY NOT GET THEIR HAPPY ENDING??? Gong Ziyu (Zhang Linghe) was miserable in the end. TF??? This drama. Is. A. Menace. I am so mad. WHAT IN THE BLEEP WAS THAT ENDING?!?!?!? Ok calming myself down. Let's put the ending aside. The story was top notch. The details in the plot, the humungous plot twists, the detailed ahh plans, everything was performed in a way that actually made logical sense which I love. The story was amazing. The main couple of Ziyu and Yun Weishan (Yu Shuxin/Esther) was amazing. All the other couples were amazing. Just wanna highlight Gong Shangjue (Cheng Lei/Ryan) and Shangguan Qian (Lu Yuxiao)'s relationship. It was honestly so toxic and full of red flags, but somehow lowkey I ship bro. Idk what she said about the pregnancy was real, but they ended up separated when they really actually did like each other. I was disappointed with their ending though but I can accept that. THE ONLY BAD THING THAT LOWERED THIS SCORE FROM A 9.5 TO A 9 WAS THAT MANKY AHH ENDING LIKE IDK IF IT BOTHERS YOU AND YOU MIGHT BE OK W IT BUT I AM NOT OKAY AT ALL. Absolutely devastating in every way...
This drama was honestly so good! The story was so interesting and while the romance was more of a subplot in this drama, I think that it was still there, although subtle. I remember seeing somewhere that ZLH got hate for Gong Ziyu, and I honestly don't really understand why? I mean, sure, his character isn't as "interesting" as, say, Cheng Lei's character, Gong Shangjue, but I still absolutely adored his role here.Gong Ziyu is someone who is described to "soft-hearted," and while that is true, he is also someone that is extremely intelligent, more so than he lets on. Overall, though, he is extremely loyal and also willing to bear the consequences of falling for Esther Yu's character, Yun Weishan. He is someone who is perfectly imperfect, but also loves Weishan despite the fact that she was sent there to assassinate him. Despite finding out that she is an enemy spy, he still continues to spare her life, even refusing to turn her in when she begs him to. He refuses to give up on her, despite the circumstances. He is fiercely protective of her, and his love for those he cares about, such as his sister, Gong Zi Shang. (one of my favorite characters in this drama, btw, she's absolutely hilarious!) He loves Weishan despite the fact that she's supposed to be his enemy, and that her people were responsible for the tragedies that befell the Gong residence years and years ago.
Esther Yu's acting definitely surprised me here. I am used to her playing naive or "cutesy" characters, and her role of Yun Weishan was the complete opposite of her other roles. She should honestly get more roles like these in the future, for I think it shows that she's way more than the cutesy roles that she is known for. I thought that this role allowed her to show her versatility as an actress, as well as showcase a completely different side of herself. I honestly was so impressed by her acting in this drama, as her character is supposed to be this cold, "unfeeling" assassin that should take lives without question. Despite, that, though, her vulnerability and softer side still shine through, especially when it comes to the death of her younger sister, Yun Que.
The acting of Cheng Lei and Lu Yuxiao was so impressive!! Their characters are both equally cunning and intelligent, and I can see why many wanted them to end up together, despite the fact that their dynamic was a little "toxic." I will say, though, that Lu Yuxiao should definitely play these kinds of roles more. I think they really suit her. Cheng Lei's acting was also equally as impressive! His acting is honestly so underrated, and it was such a contrast to his character in How Dare You, who is a bit goofier, in a sense. He's honestly such a versatile actor.
I will say, the only gripe that I had with this drama was the ending. It honestly haunts me and left me with so many questions. Like what happened to Weishan??? And what happened to Shangguan Qian (Lu Yuxiao's character???) after she left? Overall, the drama was genuinely so good, but I just wish we got a much better ending than the one we got.

One of the BEST Dramas
Story, cast, OST, and visuals were all 10000000/100. But that ending? Such a huge letdown at the very last moment.... Why? 🥹 Even after rewatching it twice, I still can't get it out of my head. Please give us a Season 2!!!! 🤍 My favorite couple, Gong Zi Shang (Jolin Jin) & Jin Fan (Sun Chen Jun)❤️ They absolutely stole every scene they were in😂...
