A mafia rom-com where the only thing dangerous is how fast the plot loses its edge. somehow good
"My Sweet Mobster : 7/10 – A Sugary Gangster Rom-Com That Forgets the 'Gangster' Part"🍬 THE SWEET:
Unexpectedly wholesome – More "reformed softboy ex-thug" than actual menace. Think Ted Lasso with tattoos.
Lead chemistry – When they flirt, it’s adorkable (if you ignore the glaring logic gaps).
PPL King – Product placements so smooth, you’ll crave subway sandwiches and soju mid-episode.
🔪 THE NOT-SO-SWEET:
False advertising – Promised dark mafia vibes, delivered fluffball redemption arc.
Villains? More like temper tantrum toddlers with trust funds.
Pacing whiplash – Switches between rom-com and half-baked crime drama like a drunk DJ.
💥 THE "WAIT, WHAT?" MOMENT:
That backstory reveal so rushed, it felt like the writers Googled "how to make trauma compelling" last-minute.
🎯 VERDICT:
"A cotton candy version of Peaky Blinders—fun while it lasts, but dissolves under scrutiny." Watch if: You want low-stakes chaos and a himbo lead. Skip if: You expected actual stakes or competent criminals.

God bless the person that casted UHM TAE GOO ??
MSM is unarguably going to be my best series for 2024….wow! I loved every bit of it, please don’t let the lame reviews deceive you, this series is amazing.I must commend the cast for their acting skills, everyone delivered their roles perfectly, I’m in love with the DEER MEN 😄💕 they have my heart… ML and FL had this amazing chemistry, like they were both perfect for the job, I love the fact that FL was so vocal in expressing her love for ML, very cute.
Second ML and FL too we’re amazing, awwww,,, first time watching a kdrama series and they did the deed so early 😄😄

Don't judge this kdrama
Almost all the episodes either got me lmfao or got me to cray like maybe 1-2 times which isn't so bad. This was actually one of the cuties and sweatiest dramas I have watched in such a long time. I like all the characters in this drama there wasn't a dry moment and it especially like the side characters too. I hate nothing about this drama I also don't mind the interrupting of the scenes between the ML and FL I actually like it a lot. Alright let's get started with the side character Go Yang Hui [Meow group boss] (Im Chul Soo) I know he's supposed to be the bad guy but he was so adorable that I couldn't even hate the character Go Yang Hui with all honestly this character had me cracking up from 1st ep when he and ML were about to fight buy ML just hold out his hand and he couldn't even hit ML it was hilarious also they way he dresses i can't take him serious. Don't even get me started with ML groups of guys they were the sweetest characters. Let's start with my favorites Gwak Jae Su (Yang Hyun Min) and Jung Man Ho(Lee Yoo Joon) these two duo were like a married couple and i like how Yang Hyun Min character has a short fuse and sometimes forgets stuff as for Jung Man Ho he has a slip of tong which make this drama more hilarious and they are both sometimes clueless that i can't help but lmfao. I swear anytime i see either Gwak Jae Su (Yang Hyun Min) and Jung Man Ho(Lee Yoo Joon) characters on screen i definitely know i will be cracking up. You the ML voice is off the charts for me like omfg his voice is seriously so goodWas this review helpful to you?

Mr. Penguin and his cute and friendly wife!
I really enjoyed watching this drama. You can see how every character develops on it's own. The thing i liked the most about development is when they finally confessed their feelings he started wearing more light colored costumes. He resembled how she made his world a little more colorful. This drama became one of my favorites mostly because of one thing...... Ji-hwan's friends/subordinates. They made me laugh to the point my stomach hurt. Not only them but everyone was shining with their own thing and everyone knew their place beside two characters but that didn't ruin the whole experience for me. I loved loved and loved it. Will rewatch it for sure.
I hope whoever is reading this to enjoy it too. Have a good time. ByeBye

AWESOME and DAEBAK!
At the beginning, I’m looking for a light k-drama, not stressful, full of laugh and sweet. Then I found this drama and I cannot stop laughing. At first I fell in love with the second male lead, but then suddenly the heart change! I got a crush with this Uhm Tae Goo. Aigoo! What to do??All the actors are good. The director really good in picking actor for the role. All actor know well their job. I still cannot move on. Thank you for making my life happy. Still i’m hoping to see in the future that these Uhm Tae Goo and Kwon Yul to be the leading man in romantic drama. Anyway please enjoy watching!

This might’ve legitimately been for kids
This drama had every trope that I hated and only one thing that carried it: the silliness and awkwardness of the MLBut even that grew old quick because sir…you are 36
Horrible and controlling SML who treats the FL like a child without autonomy? ✅
Nosy SML who keeps butting his head into everyone’s business and acting like he’s owed access into their personal lives, thoughts etc?✅
Self righteous SML who thinks he knows everything✅
Clingy SML who believes that having a crush on a virtual stranger means owning them✅
ML who repeatedly pushes the FL away every time things go bad like she’s not a full person in their relationship but a pet he can choose to care for or discard on a whim ✅
Everybody acting like the FL is a newborn baby in need of protection (even from her own emotions) and not a 30 yr old goddamn woman✅
A 30 yr old woman and a 36 yr old man freaking out every time they so much as touch (the first few times is tolerable but yall are dating?? What did you think happens in relationships?)✅
Slapstick “comedy”✅
Saint FL who’s more like an idea of “perfection” than a person(I don’t feel like explaining this one rn but iykyk)✅
THAT trope (you know the one)✅
I was done with the story by ep.11ish but I didn’t hate it. It was very stupid most times and a lot of the jokes just weren’t funny and seemed like they were written for 12 yr olds but it was ok.
From ep.2-11ish, things were fun and flowed quickly (minus the sml) so it didn’t feel dragging or exhausting but after that, I kept fighting the urge to turn the tv off.
I liked the pairing. I liked that she stood up for herself every time he pulled that savior crap on her and it’s no surprise that I loved how obsessed he was with her.
The side characters were surprisingly not the worst. I usually hate this kind of setup cause I find it obnoxious and pandering but I didn’t mind them too much. They were over the top at times but I understood their place in the story and ji hwan’s life as well as his place in theirs. For them, he’s their savior. For him, they’re his lifeline-they give him purpose.
It was a fun and silly drama and if they would’ve kept that vibe and shortened the story a bit, it might’ve actually been perfect.
If you’re gonna have a story where everyone acts like Disney channel rejects, why do you think Tony Soprano would fit in?
Believe it or not, at one point (when the highs were really high), I contemplated giving this a 9 or 8.5.
But the lows were in hell so it’s a 7.5/10

A pearl I wasn't expecting to find!
I was interested in the synopsis of this drama and decided to give it a chance. I'm so happy I went for it! It quickly became a favorite for how well everything was handled - the plot, the main characters, the support roles, the villains, the themes explored in the story, all of it.The story isn't anything overly original in its setup, but I absolutely love how the writers didn't try to add too much to it and sticked with building on the main elements they started with. There was a lot to work with from the beginning and the production team was able to see it and work with it! Nothing got lost along the way, nothing was left in the air for me to wonder about. Something else that I really care about in dramas and tv series is the pacing, which was perfect here. Nothing felt too rushed, nothing felt like it was dragging for too long. The events and the characters had the exact time they needed.
The characters were all lovely. The performance of the MLs was great and their chemistry was impeccable, but I especially loved their dynamics with the secondary characters and the support roles, companions and villains both. They all felt like true and complete people by the end, even the characters that felt the most caricature-like in the beginning.
I truly appreciated how the theme of reformed criminals was handled in the story. No character is entirely black or white, noone's crime is simply swept under the rug because "they're part of our family", no villain is just depicted as pure evil just because "they're part of that group". There is a lot of nuance and care and I loved to see it.
I watched this with my mother, who is much more well-versed in K-dramas than me (she watched SO MANY, seriously), and she absolutely loved it. I believe this already makes it worth recommend it to anyone who is looking for a touching rom-com.

I want more
I hardly ever say this about dramas but I need more time with this one.More moments between each of the couples, more shenanigans in the family, more moments of Ji-Hwan being an absolute loser(affectionate).
Overall didn't care for the mafia stuff, it wasn't bad, just that everything else was so good in and of itself that I didn't find it necessary.
Ji-Hwan has become an absolute favorite of mine, both the character and the actor. (his voice too 🫡)
Love this drama very very much, the vibes are immaculate and this will be rewatched sooner rather than later.

Male lead shines in this modern Snow White/Maid Marion mash up of a plot
I took off points from a perfect score because of 3 things:1) Prosecutor's obsession with female lead felt creepy.
2) Female lead promises multiple times to stay safe by staying put & she doesn't, which puts her in danger (this trope MUST die!)
3) Female Lead's best friend's storyline was jarring, 1 dimensional & detracted from main story. What she has with her guy is not a relationship & not romantic !
Now for the positive:
All those car accident, kidnapping & torture tropes; where the music sets you up to be scared? Well here you get the scary music, but those tropes don't happen. No One dies & relationships that matter are mended by the end, (AND you get your warm fuzzies!). Issues are resolved quickly, (though I am getting sick of the clueless male & female serenely navigating the world with a superior air trope). At least it wasn't heavy handed here. Leads are great in this. I wasn't really sold on thier chemistry, but the male lead sells it, so I let it slide. A very enjoyable Rom Com. The female lead was a kind of Snow White/maid Marion mash up living with her menagerie of merry men dwarves , but also get's her "prince"/hero!

A simple fun loving drama
This drama is a feel good loving drama. The most unique thing which I liked about it is that ML is a former gangster and now CEO, so he is not shown stupid or doing crazy things. He is shown very sensible and responsible at all times. Because of this ML actually seems to be a genuinely sweet person as per the title of the show. His decisions at many times will make complete sense as he is always burdened by his past. He is never shown exaggerating things or doing crazy stuff for the sake of comedy., this really spoils the drama as it makes it implausible. Also the concept of former gangsters now trying to be good is a feel good concept in itself..The only thing that I didn't like was the FL acting.. In starting I thought she is being simple and expressionless, as she is facing troubles in life, but this never changed till the end. She is always normal whatever happens.. even in the last episode when she gets proposed she is like OK, no happiness or excitement at all. But overall it was OKAY as the FL is not acting very good but at least she is not doing overacting at any point, she is like just a normal person.
The prosecutor's role is also very good. I thought he will at one point, like in other dramas, hide things or create unnecessary misunderstandings, but he is shown genuinely a good person as well. He is such a good second lead which is very sweet to watch.
Overall the drama is sweet and nice if you want to watch a simple romcom.

Interesting to watch the ex-gangster
The ML is an ex-convict and he and other convicts have a company and he is the bossHe is really sweet. His dress style is like Matrix.... and his voice is so... distinct... raspy... serious... profound things he says ... he is like a ... kung fu master parody...
FL is .. well.. over the top stupid rash female chicky chick, doing stupid things. I did not enjoy watching her EXCEPT for her skit on caterpillars. he acted a caterpillar. That was sooo cool!!!
