An Elite Rivals-to-Lovers Masterpiece with Electric Chemistry and Unmatched Devotion
The Story and the Dynamic PacingWe Best Love: No. 1 For You delivers a brilliant, fast-paced, and emotionally gripping take on the classic rivals-to-lovers trope. The plot centers around two college students who have been competing against each other in everything since childhood. When one of them deliberately orchestrates situations to stay by the other's side, a captivating game of pride and hidden feelings begins. The narrative is exceptionally well-written, smoothly transitioning from lighthearted campus rivalry to a deeply passionate, emotionally charged romance that keeps you hooked from the very first minute. The Characters and Their Intense ChemistryThe absolute soul of this franchise is the magnetic and fierce connection between the main leads. Gao Shi De perfectly embodies the quiet, protective, and deeply devoted "alpha male" archetype—a character whose love is borderline obsessive but rooted in a powerful desire to protect and cherish his partner. On the other hand, Zhou Shu Yi’s fiery, proud, and tsundere personality creates an electric contrast. Their on-screen chemistry is spectacular; the romantic tension between them is so thick and authentic that it entirely redefines the standards of the genre. The Second Season and Overall ImpactWhat makes this story truly legendary is how flawlessly it connects with its second season, Fighting Mr. 2nd. While the first part handles the beautiful angst of college realization, the sequel elevates the plot into a mature, angsty, and intense corporate melodrama. The growth of their bond—filled with deep pain, protective instincts, and unbreakable loyalty—proves that their connection can survive any storm. The visual aesthetics, the sharp direction, and the breathtaking soundtrack all work together to amplify the raw emotional weight of their journey.VerdictThis is a gold-standard BL drama that delivers a flawless execution of emotional depth, fierce possessiveness, and genuine affection. If you love stories with a strong, unwavering male lead who will do absolutely anything for the person he loves, this series and its sequel are an absolute must-watch. It is a timeless masterpiece that deserves a special, sentimental place on any watchlist. Was this review helpful to you?

Love comes when you least expect it.
You know, I think there are a lot more people that like the second season of this show more than this first one - which is understandable because the second season was intriguing and grappling. It definitely grabbed the viewers attention but nothing is without its first counterpart - alas, We Best Love: No.1 For You.Every once in a while, a really really good Taiwanese bl will come into your life and you will watch it and think about it for the REST of your life. For me, that bl has always been WBL. My favourite trope is academic rivals to lovers and this show does it the best I have ever seen it been done. I love unexpected love so much. I do not want to spoil anything for future watchers but watching this show makes me feel so giddy and I have seen it 3 times now. (ps. I RARELY rewatch shows).
It is the perfect pace - not too fast, not too slow. Declarations of love are so beautifully done (I'm talking about the confession scenes btw) and most importantly, the characters are so soft-spoken. Watching this show feels like a soft kiss on the cheek or like you're petting a soft purring cat. I love it. I may be biased but I just love it - it is peak comfort vibes.
I like the university setting and the fact that it starts off at the pool - I love swimming so I literally just feel like this show was made for me. I will admit that this is a very personal review and many others may not feel the same way about this show as I did but who knows? Maybe a future watcher like you, might read this review and decide to listen to this crazy lady's words and give this show a go.

Certified Comfort Show ALL CAPS
I’ve watched this so many times I’ve lost count. No seriously—this isn’t just a BL, it’s THE BL. My fave. My blueprint. I will make my future partner to watch it at least once because this is what love and romance should feel like. Period. The characters?? Top tier. Chemistry?? Through the roof. Acting?? Left. No. Crumbs. They devoured every scene. That play date episode? That whipped Gao Shi De energy? ICONIC.
The screenplay was elite, like you blink and you’re 5 episodes deep and emotionally attached. The rivals-to-lovers arc?? They didn’t just understand the assignment—they wrote the syllabus.
And Zhou Shu Yi?? Literal soft baby. His confession had me in a chokehold. I was crying, smiling, kicking my feet—all at once. Their love story is everything. Tender. Chaotic. Real. So emotional.
AND LISTEN—those kisses?? Sensual as hell. I’m talking soul-touching, cinematic, emotionally loaded. I need more of this series just for that. I said what I said. 😤🔥
Forever rewatch-worthy. Forever obsessed. 💘😭✨

excellent chemistry/tension
Overall: the leads really brought it in this university series. 6 episodes about 25 minutes each. Aired on WeTV https://wetv.vip/en/play/dy0tqsfvpl73f7f-No.1%20For%20You Also a special edition that has a few extra seconds for paid subscribers (did not see the difference in episode 1) https://wetv.vip/en/play/7isd6uuw6sdr6v0-No.1-For-You-Special-Edition/i0039ifao8c-EP1-No.1-For-You-Special-EditionContent Warnings: non con video recording, manipulation/blackmail, non con touching/kiss, homophobia
What I Liked
- sweet moments
- funny moments
- intimacy/chemistry
- that bridge scene was amazing
- supportive friends, the sassy cousin and the mom
- a non cliche female character
- attention to props (rainbow books in the library, the skeleton that changes positions)
- character styling
- music (the actor YU who played Zhou Shu Yi sang the OST "Blue Lover"; the bartender in episode 6 was Alex Chou who was a lead in My Tooth Your Love and also sang "Hard To Let Go" in We Best Love)
Room For Improvement
- stupid plan/approach
- tried to cram too many relationships/plot into a short runtime
- started with a voice over and flash forward
- nonsense cliche in the pool
- ep 4 manipulation and the non con
- gay for you trope
- lack of communication/happened to overhear something

Even if it's the usual school youth romance, the execution is good and it made the series relatable
This series definitely did not disappoint me.. After watching all of the History franchise, I'm glad that this series did not disappoint me. With its relatable characters, one can appreciate the blooming romance of Gao Shi De and Zhou Shu Yi.Apart from the relatable characters and good pacing of the story, the series also has a good production as well as soundtracks that have meaningful lyrics. We also have a solid cast - the main actors were able to portray the expressions of their characters well and their sweet moments in the series are also wholesome.
Furthermore, we get to see the progress and development of the relationship of the couple. It's not the typical fast paced in which they immediately fall in love at the 1st episode or scene which gives this series a plus point for me. While it only had a short running time per episode (20-30 mins at best), at least there were plot and character development. Kudos to the production team, actors as well as everyone who were involved into making this series.
In conclusion, this series definitely is a highly recommend watch for me and it deserves more recognition. With its relatable plot and characters, one can be entertained in watching this series. Eventhough, the series ends with a cliff hanger, there's a sequel for this and it's also complete so it will definitely not leave the viewer / audience hanging. Enjoy watching.. :)
P.S. My review for this first season is actually late lol... I've also already finished watching its sequel and I've posted my review for it...

This is the best drama i have ever watch... I can't even tell you how desperately i was waiting for season two... Damn the story.. The acting.. And the cuteness of the actors... I was literally so upset that it is about to end... Give it a shot... I am damn sure you will love it... And one more thing... For those people who are thinking its for LGBTQ members only you guys are wrong... I'm a straight person still i can say this is the best drama i have ever watch... If you can keep side your narrow mind and watch this drama its my surety that you'll love it...Was this review helpful to you?

How good should a series be? WBL: Yes.
I don't know why this series is sooo good. I love everything about it. The story is a typical enemies to lovers story but it was still goood. I loved how much Shuyi changed after knowing he is in love with Shide. I loved seeing both so in love. I was so sad that it has just a few episode but i enjoyed every episode, every minute, every second. It was short but i never had the feeling that they did everything fast. It was just so good. And can we talk about Yu? Like seriously i am so in love with him like byE. I love his personality so so so much and HIS VOICE!!
I absolutely LOVE SamYu's chemistry and i really really can't wait for season 3 and i hope they didn't forget it because i heard they still work on it. I hope it is gonna work i really wanna see moree.

WBL owns my a$$
listen!imma sue every single person who's gonna tell me that this is not one of the BEST bl drama that ever existed!
first of all - THE BOND between SamYU. oh. my. lord. their chemistry is insane, you just look at them and you're in love.
plot wasn't exactly 100% good, there were some cheesy, some rushed moments, but their love and connection was so wonderful, i kinda didn't care much about it.
i already rewatched it twice and im planning to watch it at least once in a month. this is how much i loved it.
but i have to say one thing tho, that i don't like and i'll never be okay with this. episodes are too damn short and seasons have just 6 episodes. yall expect me to be okay with this? NO.

Another great bl drama from Taiwan
Wow the cast is just amazing the chemistry and fun they had. Now. WOW what a unbelievable drama about finding true love and then it's gone over many misunderstanding then???? Starting at the age of 10 Gao shi de meets Zhao shy yi while he was crying on the steps over his dad abandoned when a boy gives him a tissue and tells him it will be alright he has his mom when someone calls him he runs yelling his name. They meet again and shy yi doesn't remember him so he works hard to be #1 and shy yi always in. 2nd place. So now attending college shy yi figures he won't see Gao shi de and be 1st again. Until the day shi de makes shy yi his page boy(thru a video blackmail) and does everything to make him forgot his angry and become shi de friend, but shi de limes him and whispered in his ear thinking he was asleep. After that shi de started to hide from shy yi due to his heart is in alot of pain, but shy yi is mad since he can't find him over a week until he finally finds him.. these 6 episode tells the story of how commitment and persistent can payoff in the name of love.Ep6. 5.gave some background info leading up to the 5 year misunderstanding.
