A Mature Defense of a Realistic Heroine
To everyone labeling the female lead as "toxic," I have to ask: are we watching the same show? After seeing numerous comments warning me about her character, I’ve found that with each passing episode, the reality is far more nuanced. Her trauma has hardened her, yes, but she is consistently doing her best to trust again and give people a chance. Despite going through trials most of us can't relate to, she still manages to smile. She is growing and learning at her own pace—which is exactly what real healing looks like.Who Should Watch This?
If you are looking for a mature, three-dimensional love story, this is a beautiful and thoughtful journey. However, it requires a certain perspective to appreciate:
Avoid if: You have a strictly black-and-white view of the world or believe that love should only be "fluffy" and positive. If you aren't ready for a realistic interpretation of how real people handle real baggage, there are plenty of standard office comedies that might be more your style.
Watch if: You see the world in all its colors—both the ugly and the beautiful. If you prefer flawed, human characters over two-dimensional tropes, you will find this story deeply rewarding.
This is a story for the mature viewer who understands that love isn't always "pink"—sometimes it’s grey, complicated, and all the more beautiful for it.

The Things We Keep Living With
Some dramas entertain. Others quietly settle somewhere deeper, lingering long after they finish not because they shouted loudly enough to be remembered, but because they recognized something quietly human. Will Love in Spring belongs firmly to the second category. At its core, this is a realistic romance between two adults who have learned, in very different ways, that life rarely unfolds according to the version we imagine for ourselves. Chen Maidong, a funeral makeup artist whose profession keeps him unusually close to mortality, and Zhuang Jie, a medical saleswoman living with a disability and carrying both visible and invisible scars, reconnect in a story far less interested in romantic fantasy than in the quieter realities of companionship, loneliness, grief, family expectations, and the exhausting process of learning how to continue after disappointment. Although marketed as romance, the drama often feels equally concerned with loss itself — not simply death, but the many quieter losses life accumulates along the way: abandoned versions of ourselves, unrealized expectations, strained relationships, and the difficult acceptance that healing never arrives cleanly or completely.
Perhaps what impressed me most was the drama’s restraint. It rarely turns difficult subjects into spectacle or emotional manipulation. Instead, disability, grief, caregiving, mortality, and emotional isolation are approached with unusual patience and emotional maturity. Chen Maidong’s profession especially gives the story a reflective texture, repeatedly reminding the viewer of mortality without forcing sentimentality upon them. The drama seems deeply aware of something uncomfortable but profoundly true: pain does not always disappear; often, people simply learn how to carry it differently.
Perhaps timing played a role, but having recently experienced loss in my own life, I suspect certain scenes landed with an emotional sharpness they may not have otherwise. Not because the drama attempts to overwhelm emotionally — if anything, it does the opposite — but because some moments recognized grief in a way that felt quietly familiar. The scenes that moved me most were often not the loudest, but the smallest: hesitation, silence, ordinary conversations carrying emotions too heavy to say directly.
That said, the drama was not without frustrations. Zhuang Jie occasionally tested my patience, and there were moments where her emotional contradictions and push-and-pull dynamic felt difficult to fully embrace. Yet, strangely enough, I think part of that frustration also made her feel more human. She is not endlessly patient, endlessly likable, or emotionally tidy. Instead, she feels like someone shaped by disappointment, pride, vulnerability, and unresolved hurt; sometimes admirable, sometimes frustrating, but recognizably real.
The chemistry between the leads also benefits from a maturity that feels increasingly rare. Rather than relying on dramatic soulmate declarations or heightened romantic fantasy, the relationship unfolds through awkwardness, emotional hesitation, care, misunderstandings, and the quiet recognition of two people slowly learning that vulnerability may not always lead to loss.
Like spring itself, this drama does not arrive loudly. It arrives gradually. Quietly. And before you fully notice, something about it lingers.
I would especially recommend this to viewers who appreciate quieter, character-driven stories; romances built less on dramatic spectacle and more on emotional nuance, warmth, healing, and the complicated ways people learn to live beside loss. Those expecting fast pacing or heightened melodrama may occasionally find its restraint frustrating, but for viewers willing to sit with silence, vulnerability, and emotional imperfection, there is something quietly rewarding here. I say this as someone who rarely gravitates toward modern slice-of-life dramas: there was something quietly persuasive about the emotional sincerity of this one.
8.5/10. Flawd in places, emotionally sincere in others, and unexpectedly moving in the quiet way stories about grief and learning to continue sometimes are.

Enjoyed it overall!
The casting was perfect! Li Xian is so handsome and Zhou Yu Tong is charming. The music was also good and I liked the plot. I liked the way it talked about death, as that is one inevitability of life. It had a good combination of emotional scenes with romance and comedy. The leads had such good chemistry that during their intimate and vulnerable moments, I would forget that it was a fictional story. I was swooning a long with them.
The issue is with the character of Zhuang Jie, her insecurities really made it hard for me to fully root for her. I especially disliked when she left for Shanghai without telling Chen Maidong until the last minute and after essentially trapping him into an engagement so he wouldn't easily leave her. I just felt that was glossed over a bit, but the ending made it worth it. So, overall, I enjoyed this drama. Would rewatch it too.

Almost there, but not quite Meet Yourself
I had such high hopes. This show started off and continued in such a beautiful classy mature way. I celebrated. Finally he was bringing us another Meet Yourself… however, that was not to be the case.
Don’t get me wrong. There is so much beauty in this script. Both his profession and her physical situation are unique. Both new to any drama I’ve seen before. The music, stunning.
The cast is stellar. The chemistry is perfect.
The script however- was churning along nicely, with the tensions, the slow burn development. It is heavy at times. Emotional. Tears will be shed. The relationship progresses despite the issues both of the leads are dealing with. The barriers start to break down. We see growth, and so you hope that we will continue to see them figure out communication skills, honesty and maturity.
Instead the writers take a massive leap backwards and drug this show into such a stupid place.
For a show like this that is not your a-typical cdrama romance of cold CEO, poor childish FL with every trope under the sun… you’d “hope” they could have modeled REAL relationship skills. Show the audience what dealing with complexities that affect your future actually looks like. Instead the FL just appears like she has had zero growth ARC the previous 75% of the show. The selfishness and inabilty to make ML a real part of the decision making progress is unbelievable and quite frankly, if we hadn’t been so close to the end, I think I may have quit, it is that bad.
I was so disappointed. Please don’t do this. There would have been a climax to the beauty of the show we have been captivated with thus far. We could have said “yes girl, thats how you do it!”. Instead I was ready to throw my shoes at the TV.
It ends ok.
It has a Marvel ending. Stay for the end of the credits. 😉

Great Drama!
Love everything about this Drama, the Actors were made for their part and there is nothing I would think of changing. 🥰I’ve watched this drama repeatedly and I’m still going to do so at a later date. I’m also happy it ends there because it means that it’s settled.
A rather realistic Drama and everyone can resonate.
I’m not gonna use any spoilers here, because I want those who haven’t experienced this drama to get the feel for it. it’s a must watch and then your able to have your own pov.

A poetry in motion.........
I haven't read the book, yet this drama clearly indicates that if you pick a good book and follow it to it's minute details, you end up with a classic drama. As compared to the screenplays that are hashing out clichéd crap just to meet deadlines and make a quick buck,This drama takes the c industry to the next level. It's absolute poetry, smooth, delicate, yet hard core feminist.
Sometimes feminist dramas trample on males, but here it is a sheer sense of admiration and respect for the ML.
And add to that the sizzling chemistry, heart fluttering relationship, beautiful landscapes, wonderful supporting cast.......
This drama is a gem.......
I had stopped watching c dramas because it was embarrassing to watch female leads speak like a baby, act like a teenager and wear crotch revealing outfits.
But wow.....the last 4-5 c dramas have beaten the so-called popular k dramas of 2023-24.
Way to go.......congratulations to the full team!!

Realistic and charming, challenging stigmas
What sets this apart from a lot of other Cdramas for me:- That it challenges what I assume are stigmas towards some groups (certain careers and disabilities) in a very natural way (not overly "preachy" or "propaganda-ist").
- The locations: I love that the majority of the story is unfolding in their hometown, not in Shanghai. It is charming and creates a very natural atmosphere. At the same time, the Shanghai-scenes are important parts of the story.
- The character gallery, their individual progressions and developments.
In addition, I think they nailed the casting, and pretty much all of the actors delivered strong performances.
All in all, this is a series I would recommend, and one I can see myself watch again some time.

Tear-jerker
I've watched Zhou Yu Tong in Nothing But You and didn't realize that it's also her in this drama until I Googled her name. She looks so much prettier with long hair and she portrayed Zhuang Jie so well. Her acting was so natural. Li Xian also did really well. Their chemistry is 10/10!Lots of lessons about love, life and death in this drama. There's not a single annoying character or negative vibes. But because it touches on death and some characters ended up dying, you'll need a box of tissues for this one.

To watch and fall for it!
Have you ever watched something for the first time and fallen in love with it? That's what I felt watching "Will Love in Spring." There were only three episodes available on YouTube, but I fell for it, and then I watched it on another site because I still wanted to continue and know what would happen next. I didn't expect that I would love the main lead couple over and over again. I've already watched their other dramas, and I really love them. I really like how the female lead acts - she's so cute and adorable, especially when she's teasing the guy. This show features a series with extrovert and introvert main leads. The male lead is introverted, while the female lead is extroverted, but when I saw her eyes, she just expressed a sense of safety and peace towards herself. The way she showed her smile made me realize that deep inside, she's hiding something.
"If we chase love, are we chasing our death? No, we chase love because we've found a way to live, and we pour our hearts into it until our last breath. We don't have to waste our time being with someone who doesn't become our home. (Peace and safety)" That's my interpretation of this story.
I don't want to write much because I'm already attached and will definitely miss this series. You should watch this series - I know we have different perspectives, but it will definitely make you fall for them. So, I'm giving it a 10/10 🥺

I can't get over this drama!!!
This drama is a different kind of mature romance that I haven't experienced and seen before. I love how they handle misunderstanding between them. I love how she calls his name(Chen Maidong). I love the kisses and all, it's sooooo good 😊Granny Chen carries the show as she continues to matchmake her grandson and Fl nonstop 🤣
The Fl mom's nags non stop 😭
This drama is an eye opener, it teaches me that THERE'S ABILITY IN DISABILITY, DISABILITY IS NOT A DISEASE!!
I love how the FL carries herself even though she's disabled. I would recommend this drama to mature and realistic minds 💓

Slice of life, death , the complexity of relationships, with a happy ending
If you are looking for a drama that deals with heavy themes, is realistic, has independent, mature, tortured, yet beautiful characters going through life and comforting -growing with each other, this is the drama for you. A central theme of this drama is both death and renewal. How death is part of life and love/family, regardless how complex is is the real treasure. Several characters go through grief in their own way, and it does a wonderful way of showing how every generation, every person, has their own way of dealing with grief. There is romance, several lovely if complex family's, friends and a wonderful town filled with all kinds of characters. This is a very well named drama, as Spring always reminds me that even in the harshness of winter,....life always begins anew. 100% recommended
