A heavy masterpiece

If you're reading the reviews, wondering if you should watch it or not, I'll help you make that decision.
Will Love in Spring is a masterpiece in characters writing, plot, chemistry and cinematography. If you want deep, realistic, independant and tortured characters going through life and comforting each other, this is definitely the best drama out there for you. But beware : it deals with heavy themes and doesn't undermine traumas.
Traumas are so vile, sometimes you think you're healed, when you're not. Sometimes you sabotage yourself, knowing what you're doing is wrong, but unable to do better. Healing is not linear. In this sense, this drama won't always be satisfying. You might think the characters are healed and will do better from now on, only for them to repeat their mistakes. This can get frustrating, so I understand some bad reviews. We sometimes need shows to escape from reality, but you won't find that in this show.
Also, I found the main theme of the drama to be death. How to deal with death, how to accept it. Several characters go through grief in their own way, and it does a wonderful way of showing how every generation, every person, has their own way of dealing with grief. I loved it, but I know it might be annoying for people who watch this drama thinking it's going to be a sweet romance.
To be fair, I think Will Love in Spring should be tagged as a melodrama. So, if you dislike those, I don't think you'll enjoy it. But if you're not afraid of a slow-paced realistic romance, then this is going to be the drama of your life.
The first time I watched it, I only came because I heard they had the best chemistry of all time. I was curious and craving for fluff, and I dropped it after a few episodes, because while I could definitely see the potential and the chemistry, I just wasn't in the mood for something so slow and heavy. But it stayed in my mind for months (literally), and someday when I was in a dump, I thought : let's give it another try. The rest is history. I binged it in a few days and became literally obsessed with everything about it. Spent weeks afterwards thinking about them. Rewatched it only 2 weeks later. It's been six months and I still think of this drama every single day. I've watched hundred of dramas in my life and this has never happened to me.
I think what works so well in this drama is how natural the interactions are between the leads. Their dialogues, their glances, the FLIRT, the fluff. It feels like watching a true couple. There is no awkwardness, no unnecessary "mistakes", because they're both 30. Their fights, their reconciliations, their kisses, their touches, everything is just natural.
Then you have the cinematography. One of the best I have ever seen. Beautiful plans, wonderful colors. I saw a lot of people comparing it with Wong Kar-Wai movies and yes : if you like Wong Kar-Wai movies, you will like it.
Third, the OST. The music in this drama just matches the vibes so, so well. Sad and comforting at the same time, with also a dramatic rock songs that fits their passion perfectly. Because, yes, while this is a heavy drama, their love for each other is very passionate - this is another reason why I like it so much. It's the kind of bond you just can't forget about. They are not just lovers, they're soulmates : whatever happens to them, and despite all the trauma that works against them, they will always find a way to each other. They don't need to communicate, they understand each other so deeply.
And, finally, the feminism. This show is so inherently feminist. The female characters are independant, ambitious, they have their own dreams. The FMC might be broken, but she does not need help. Some might describe her as "selfish", but the show very much addresses how women have no other choice but to be selfish if they want to succeed. It also talks about women's pleasure, and there are a lot of clashes between the new generation and the old one, that's obsessed with this idea of "women's reputation" and women "being taken advantage of". The show is not afraid to openly say that women are capable of chosing who they want to have sex with, they are not victims that needs to be protected until marriage. They can be flirty, and make the first moves.
To end this review, I think I will never find another show that deals so well with death, grief, trauma, while also giving one of the best acting and chemistry ever, with the most natural flirt and fluff I've seen in a drama (imo, only one drama has a chemistry as good as this one and it's Lighter & Princess). If that's also what you're searching for : give it a try. You won't regret it.

It's like an emo teenage kid writing poems about life and death

This was a promising drama but I dropped it for four reasons:
(1) Love ZYT but the FL is too frivolous for my taste. Her flirting makes me cringe. Girl, get some self-respect and boundaries.
(2) The ML is like every other ML in every other drama. Stoic, expressionless, unkind towards FL. Why FL likes ML is a wonder at all - and don't get me started on the childhood sweethearts thing; dramaland has lost all originality.
(2) Unnecessary, completely gratuitous face slapping, when words and actual acting would more than suffice. What a weak storytelling device.
(3) Preachiness. Too much preachiness. About death. About life. About everything. So dramatic. All makjang.

It's giving "Look at me, I'm so deep, writing poems about life and death" vibe. I'm over it. Can't keep watching.

Enjoyable couple + show with fatal flaws.

Pros
-Good casting and chemistry.
-FL and ML was a good match.
-Good story and funny at times.
-Had good start and potential.

Cons
-Rushed ending
-ML was way too quick to forgive.
-Too much unnecessary dialogue dumps on philosophy and ideals.
-Needed more episodes to smoothen things out.
-More time with sidecharcters.

FL did ML way too dirty to many times.

Good but Lacking

The drama is overall good, the acting of cast was also very nice.
The only thing I felt a little annoyed about was the FLs character, if it was once or twice it would have been bareable but why does she always do things and then expect the ML to just forgive her..
He also just keeps forgiving.. i mean man how many times for u want to get hurt.

Other than this the drama is really good especially the direction and the cinematography was peak.. the way they captured all those emotions and vibes in each frames.

Good storyline

Will Love in Spring is a beautifully crafted C-drama that left a lasting impression on me. The storytelling is heartfelt, blending romance, growth, and emotional healing in a way that feels genuine and touching. The leads make the journey feel real and deeply moving. The cinematography is elegant, with soft tones and a poetic atmosphere that enhance the mood of the story. I especially appreciated the character development—watching the protagonists evolve individually and together was rewarding. This drama isn’t just about love; it’s about timing and fate. Truly a tender, thoughtful experience worth watching. My taste is always a good storyline plus comedy sense. So I like this drama.

"Let's not live by days, but by seconds."

Will Love in Spring is more of a story of life rather than a simple romance. It's a journey that includes the different people you meet in life and how everyone has value. It's a story of flawed and lovely individuals, different forms of relationships, and how our experiences shape us no matter our age; we're people that consistently change. The characters in this feel like real people, they are some of the most well written three dimensional characters I've seen. They have trauma that follows them the whole story rather than it being used as a plot device.; they have unresolved complexes and flaws that only make them feel more real. They have personalities shaped by their trauma, they have intellect, wisdom, and faults. It's about loss and grief and how that changes how we value life and the people that are a part of it. It changes how scared and how bold we may be to chase after happiness. It's about how love and loss affects grandparents, mothers, fathers, spouses, siblings, and children. Will Love in Spring is a lovely and unique story of life, romance, friendship, family, and the affect that loss has on ourselves.

One of my favorite quotes is between two of the grandmas in the story.
"We started with holding each other's tiny hands, now we're holding each other's wrinkled hands."

Not what i thought it would become

From the title and the synopsis, i thought this would be a wholesome relationship that support eachother from their own shortcoming, but damn i was wrong.

The first half it did a decent, intro of both character and their surrounding, and what goin on, and little playin with both of their feelin.

But another half is not enjoyable, it circling aroung the exact plot over and over again it gets annoying i had to fast forward it everynow and then, an awakward kissing scene from the fl that i almost feel bad for the ml, the arrival of each other ex but they did nothing with each of it, like it could make a great fukin plot for god sake. A lot of plot hole that its confusing till the end.

Well its just me ranting about how i feels abut it, if you like it, you do you, for me its not my cup of tea.

But beside that overall is decent and watchable, but not gonna rewatch it

rewatch review

i actually only decided to write this because before the rewatch i saw a comment saying these were two mature adults... but they are definitely not mature in their romantic relationship with each other HAHA. While they're successful and respected adults professionally and both maintain filial piety, they both clearly like each other and know where their boundary is (not interested in a long term relationship) and start blaming each other as things don't work out. I think a mature romantic relationship would be a) no relationship no blame b) short term consensual relationship c) long term with compromise d) some variant where they transition between the three options with full transparency and strong emotions but little blame and less repetition in cycles.

It's kind of a guilt watch for me. Such emotionally erratic courtsmanship is less attractive in my older years. Watching them in their growth individually is still wonderful though.

story of improvement!

I really wanted to see this cdrama because of the different reviews I had read!
I'll be honest, it's not just a romantic story, it focuses more on personal improvement and appreciating family.
Although I love stories like these, I felt that sometimes the script deviated a little, the leading couple was a 10/10 💞 in terms of chemistry but a 7/10 in development above all in the last two chapters adding those twists that left me ????
but in general a passable story with an ost full of very beautiful songs and beautiful settings ✨

Principalmente a Prota!

Contudo, é bem humano, pois a vida é assim. 😄

Its best point was about death and how they approached it.

If I were to give the story's approach to death a score I'd give it a 10. As someone that has gone through a difficult loss a year ago, this drama was very comforting and touching.
The romance part was quite good until the last 3 episodes were it went a bit downhill and dragged in a weird way as if the sceenwriter didnt know how to conclude some parts of the story.

The acting was great, the music could've been better.

In general, I liked how flawed most of the main characters were. To me that's realistic. Bc most people have a lot of disappointing traits that come from our own traumatic life-experiences. So not all dramas need to have the overly cliche toxic characters or the overly cliche "doing everything correctly" protagonists.

However it did feel like the characters weren't developed as deeply as they deserved considering they were people with extremely traumatic pasts and the material for a deeper dive into why they were that way was right THERE. |

Anyway, I did like the drama even with its last episodes messy approach, especially the first half of it.

Emotional drama on healing and love

i really enjoyed the show despite the heavy topics it discussed. both male and female leads portrayed the characters well and there was so much chemistry between them.

the show discussed many emotional topics such as death, family ties, guilt, friendship and more. many plots were tear jerking especially when death is involved.

grandma brought a touch of humour to the show, i liked the way she looked after female lead, forming sisterly bond at the end of the show. step sister he niao niao was a joy to watch.

OST was appropriate with slow ballads...
