An Unexpected Gem ✨... I Wasn’t Ready for This ?
Wow… what a ride. I honestly didn’t expect to love this drama this much. The story, cast, characters, acting, CGI, OSTs! Everything just felt perfect.I’m still pretty new to the BL world. I originally started this while waiting for new episodes of Duang With You, just looking for something to pass the time… but I didn’t expect to discover such a gem.
I actually knew about this drama last year when it was still airing because it was quite popular, but I hesitated to watch it. I was skeptical since I’m usually more into pure romance and not really into horror. I didn’t think horror and romance could blend this well! but this drama completely proved me wrong.
There wasn’t a single boring episode. The plot kept me hooked the whole time, and I loved how the romance was portrayed . . . soft, emotional, and meaningful without feeling forced or overly explicit. It fit so naturally into the story, which made it even more impactful.
And KengNamping… I completely fell for them. Their chemistry is chef’s kiss. I seriously need more of them.

The show that rekindled my love for thai bls
I can't describe how big of an impact this show has left on me. Coming from a space of having no expectations of this project, I am left amazed by the story, the performace, the production and everything else that made this series what it is now. For me, this show has made every week worth waiting for and I'm sure that it will continue to have this effect on many more people to come.Khemjira must survive.

I loved it so much!
It has the best story, the best slow burn, the best acting and romance, and oh lord the best ending.I don't know about others but this show gave particularly more than the web novel (i mean it literally, there are extra scenes you'll love).
It is one of the top thai bl series for me, hands down.
It deserves all the hype it has got and more.
I think i will now watch more of these actors' works because they act so well and it doesn't feel awkward in between scenes and even in their intimate chemistry, they are so good.

Ghost Story Turned Heartfelt Love
Khemjira was my introduction to Thai BL. I had been watching korean and chinese BLs for quite some time until I seen a few posts about Khemjira that convinced me to try it.I’m a huge horror buff, grew up watching anything from spooky to psychological. This series set a beautiful tone for not only fighting for those you love but also not leaving their side. You and me until the end kind of story.
While yes, the series is slow burn, the romance naturally occurs and progresses from episode to episode, encompassing the storyline like a flower blooming start to finish. Not only is the romance beautiful, the background in Thai culture didn’t feel foreign to witness as an interfan, it felt very much ingrained into the story’s essence.
By the end, I felt myself tearing up and welcoming their story to my shelf. I chose not to read the novel because kengnamping’s impression of the characters is not something i want to compare to the novel characters, I truly enjoyed their take that much.

By far the best bl drama yet!
I've watched countless bl dramas, be it thai, korean, Taiwanese, chinese and Japanese. However, Khemjira has amazed me with its plot, cast, the ost's are being played on repeat and I'm definitely going to rewatch this series. For anyone reading who's unsure whether to watch Khemjira or not, you absolutely should. It is quite literally a masterpiece. Even the visuals were breathtaking throughout each episode and the thrilling experience kept me hooked every week. I don't usually watch horror but honesly this wasn't really horror, there were only approximately three scenes that I recall being a little scary. Khemjira should be nominated as best thai drama of the year. Absolutely loved everything about it especially the main leads and second leads. I understand that Keng and Namping are both working together in the industry for the first time and are also introverts which might explain the slightly shaky acting/emotions here and there. However I believe that with more time and experience both actors will learn to work together to improve their chemistry and emotions on screen. Can't wait to see them in their next drama "Magic Lover" hopefully next year.Was this review helpful to you?
The Best Series of 2025: A Masterpiece of Emotion and Craft
Without a doubt, the best series I've ever seen in 2025! You can clearly see the care that has gone into the series, from the staff to the actors, in every detail.A story of love, curses, loss and the struggle to keep on living without ever giving up and keeping a smile on your face, but it also has some perfect moments for laughter.
Well done, everyone!
In addition, I would like to mention the impeccably chosen soundtracks, but above all, the OSTs are wonderful! I can't stop listening to Mantra by Keng, Never Apart by Keng and Namping, and โฮมขวัญ Ost.เขมจิราต้องรอด.

LOVED IT
The perfect mix of humor, horror, brotherhood, kinship, and last but not least, romance. I went into this thinking it would be yet another normal series, with a pretentious storyline to just tell a romantic story, but there was a really good balance. The characters are self-aware, dignified and realistic; the stories made me swoon as much as it made me cry sometimes. Of course, till the end I was unable to get the answer to the question of how the Master was finally able to break the promise he made to his Grandfather, and points were docked for that, but otherwise... outstandingly done! The love between different lives trope was not overwhelming, and the characters' internal conflicts as to how they feel in their current lives were so refreshing, compared to other dramas with this trope. A fun watch— probably the best offering from DMD yet!
Khemjira was pretty great. The intro music was iconic, the story was well written and for once, the characters were rich and well developed. I do have a small complaint, that Peem falls in love with Khem a bit out of the blue. Like we see he saves him when they were kids and then suddenly it feels like a switch is turned on for him around ep 4 where he loves Khem all of a sudden. But Keng is mega attractive to look at and very believable as a stoic shaman. However, he was so reserved and one-note in this role (which suited the character), I would be interested to see if he is actually a good actor or if the stiffness worked well just for this one character.I loved the writing and ending they gave Ramphueng. You feel so sorry for her, its hard to villanize her despite all she does. She faces such a tragic death in her lifetime that its easy to see why she is after Khem's life. I am glad they redeem her in the end instead of making her an out and out villain.

Easily the best BL of 2025!!!
If there's one thing you take away from this review, let it be that this series is 100% worth the hype it got (and hopefully continues to get)!!!I was so surprised by domundi producing a masterpiece like this, i genuinely still cannot believe it! Tbh I really do not enjoy their shows, most I dropped halfway due to awful storyline or bad acting, others that i completed I didn't enjoy lol. This one definitely broke the streak!!
I love the mix of horror, mystery, thai mythology and romance, it's literally PERFECTION!! the storyline is never compromised for the romance amd vice versa which you really cannot say for many bls atm. The CGI wasn't making me cringe, the ghost makeup was done beautifully too!
The actors, though most of them are new, did exceptional!! I'd seen keng in paradise of thorns (he's such a beautiful man my gosh, i can't fangirl enough!!!) and had no doubts we'd do wonderful but namping portrayed the innocence and kindness of khem so so well, even though he's not the 'strongest' character, he's never overshadowed by others. Tle and firstone were also so damn good, I loved charn and his gentleness, his nerdyness and maturity and jet's protectiveness over those he loves but also his silly sides, it was wonderful! Also ofc namphueng, Icannot compliment her enough! That backstory gave me chills, she really had me in my feels everytime we saw her past.
The story is just so beautifully interwoven connecting the past and present, nothing is ever filler, everything and everyone is omehow connected! Also, I've watched like 100+ bls atp and they still managed to shock me with every damn plot twist!! The cinematography was so stunning, I was literally pulled into their world.
This was the first bl of it's kind and ofc they'd be more such masterpieces to come but this shall remain the blueprint!
I've rewatched the show multiple times already, only gave it a 9 cuz this shit is long af damn (worth every second)

This deserves to be called a MASTERPIECE. Truly.
I don't normally make reviews like this but here I am, making one!This series is a mix of everything, as well as emphasizing spirituality and the northern culture of Thailand and shamanism (that's why others may find the series a bit confusing and they tend to question some scenes that heavily involves or depicts the cultural aspect). Additionally, it genuinely revolves around friendship, love, revenge, forgiveness, and so on and so forth. All in all, this is a WHOLE ROLLER COASTER RIDE.
One of the things I really love is the SLOW BURN ROMANCE between the main couple! Oh goodness, their chemistry is INSANE!
I've watched the series for the second time already and it never disappoints me. From the bottom of the chain to the top, all I can say is that it's truly amazing. I've watched the documentary too (YOU SHOULD WATCH IT TO BETTER APPRECIATE THE SERIES) and I seriously appreciate the hard work poured into it, from all the actors and specially the actor playing the role of Khemjira.
He was amazing and I couldn't understand why people say his acting lacks. They're trying to still faithful to the novel and the novel readers says the Khem in the novel was even worse but the production team and even the actor decided to at least tone it down and they did a good job to it. All his emotions were evident through his eyes, the subtleness of his feelings, I can even feel the weight of his burden just by looking at the way he walks and talks.
To better understand the character, you really need to pay attention, even to a very small detail. In the first episode, the character Khemjira said he was bracing himself and he's not really giving up, so it's clearly a fact that Khemjira already accepts that he's going to die. Jet, his friend, perhaps knows it deep inside so he is very protective of Khem. All his life, he was battling with the curse, seeing ghosts is a norm for him, though he gets terrified when they became malicious and flipped out. He didn't really do nothing because in the first few episodes, he literally asked help, especially to Master Paran. It's just that, their fates were actually intertwined and so therefore 'help' is hard to be given. Long story short, I would literally say "Go on, rely to the people around you, Khem! It's time for you to rest and accept all the help they WILLINGLY want to give to you!". Aside from that, the characters Jet and Charn seriously complements the whole narrative and the Master Paran was played AMAZINGLY! If only others truly immersed themselves in the story and take down notes to every detail, then you can appreciate and understand the story better.
Aside from that, it's deeply cultural and a lot of details in episode one even FORESHADOWS the episodes until the end. Wow! Seriously! Other characters were so good too, each one of them fits the roles so well that I couldn't even imagine other actors playing their roles.
This series is a masterpiece, I tell you. I'm planning to watch it again next month lol, perhaps I can rewatch this every now and then.

I went in expecting a simple romance and came out completely shaken. Khemjira has consolidated itself as one of the most unexpected and roundly brilliant triumphs of 2025, demonstrating how a production can defy genre labels by masterfully intertwining horror, drama, and romance under impeccable direction.What makes this series a subtly profound masterpiece is the respect, intentionality, and mystical precision with which it treats spirituality and Thai cultural elements. Every detail of the pacing, sound design, and visuals aligns in an astonishing way, turning it into a sensory and visually stunning experience, backed by exceptional visual effects.
At the heart of this story is the connection between Khem and Pharan (Peem), which unfolds with a surprisingly genuine tenderness. Watching the master finally yield to love, after so much resistance, is a deeply gratifying emotional journey. The intimate scenes between the two are filmed with an exquisite delicacy, overflowing with undeniable chemistry.
The casting is, quite simply, the perfect choice:
Keng dominates the screen as Pharan with a serene and magnetic strength.
Namping endows Khem with a beautiful blend of tenderness, bravery, and deep emotion. The most moving aspect of both is the raw sincerity with which they convey their vulnerability.
Tle and FirstOne (Charn and Jet) are not far behind; they form one of the best-constructed secondary couples I have seen in a long time, bringing a warmth and charm that balances the narrative to perfection.
A story about love, destiny, forgiveness, and the forces of the occult that grips you from the very first second. A flawless gem. An indisputable 10 out of 10.

Amazing story… that stumbled on the finish line
As I was watching this series, I was amazed at how compellingly naturalistic it was. The concept is of course fantastical, but the characters are very grounded, with pretty realistic reactions to situations. There is a looming threat, a ticking clock for Khem's life, but he's also trying to live normally as much as he can with the time he has. He's trying to stay alive, but also he can't live every moment in strict survival mode. This has been his entire existence. He still has friends, does school projects, travels, has a crush, etc. But as the deadline looms and things get more dangerous, this story follows the final desperate attempt to beat the curse. So there's this lovely balance of tension rising, danger lurking, trying to find answers, while also finding community in this town, with his friends, wanting to be with the boy he likes. It all felt very real in that way. Even with spirits, shamans, past lives, etc. because those things are natural to the people here. This is the accepted reality/religion/whatever you want to call it.And the characters were so compelling in how nuanced and naturalistic they were. Even the looming "bad guy" of the series, from the very beginning, there's a sense that there's more to her. That she's not just evil. There's a reason she is the way she is and why she's doing this. Eventually the story will give us those answers. And they are heartbreaking. I was really looking forward to seeing how they found a resolution. Especially after a certain death, things really seemed to be ramping up for a big emotional climax.
But then the show stumbled in the last 2 episodes. It didn't do anything stupid or really awful, but all of a sudden that masterful pacing was gone. After introducing new characters and elements at the last minute, there's suddenly a lot of jumping around in time and space. Things are revealed to the audience pretty out of order, leading scenes to lack proper impact. Characters suddenly do complete heel turns on decisions they were very clear on before for the sake of momentary drama. and worst of all, the big resolution to the problem is rushed, happening within a few minutes, and not tying in to our main characters' arcs at all. Again, the answer itself is not… BAD, but it wasn't properly integrated into the story. There were a lot of things in the last 2 episodes that felt like deus ex machina. For any other series it probably wouldn't be that noteworthy, but when this series was SO great at pacing and storytelling to this point, it was a definite let down.
I initially had this series as 9-9.5 stars. The ending isn't bad enough to ruin it, but enough to bring it down to just an 8 for me.
