Ep 8 review - I HAVE a lot to say ?️

I don’t usually write reviews, but I think I’ll start now- please be kind, it’s my first one. This episode left me absolutely speechless. First off, even with its nearly two-hour runtime, the pacing never dragged. The story flowed beautifully, and the way it was delivered kept me hooked the entire time.

- KengNamping NC Scene
This has officially become my favorite DMD nc scene ever (and perhaps even one of my all-time favorites). I felt every single emotion. Seeing P’Peem completely naked felt like the ultimate act of vulnerability: as though he were saying, “I am giving myself to you without any mask or veil, both physically and emotionally.” What we witnessed was a man who had been holding himself back for years finally allowing release (again: both literal and symbolic).
The acting was extraordinary. The performances were so convincing that I almost felt like an intruder, a third wheel in their intimacy, yet I couldn’t look away. The framing and composition of each shot mesmerized me; every detail carried weight, every angle intentional.
From Khemjira’s perspective, there was a palpable mix of excitement and apprehension, as this was his first real experience with physical intimacy. His character has longed to be “normal,” but has carried the weight of the curse his entire life, leaving little to no room for romance, even if he longed for it. What this scene captured was two people experiencing different kinds of “firsts,” both stripping themselves bare of everything that shielded them in their own ways.
And the sound design? Brilliant. I deeply appreciated that the sequence was underscored by a delicate, almost ethereal score that set the emotional, reflective tone. At selected moments, the faint, distant sounds of breath (mostly from Peem) were woven in just enough to remind us of the raw, human carnal passion beneath it all. Yet these physical expressions were deliberately subdued, reinforcing that the scene’s true core was emotional intimacy. It was the peak of closeness: two individuals merging into one presence, even without going all the way.

- Direction
I have to praise the director. Every detail, every frame, feels so intentional. The way the story is visually told with the gazes, the pauses, the framing, never fails to amaze me. Every little detail is thought before hand, everything has a reason to be somewhere specific.

- Storylines
I really appreciated finally getting some backstory on Rampueng’s vengeful feelings. I suspect she’s behind Yai Si’s illness, though I’m not entirely sure yet. I love how this central plot remains consistently present, while still balanced against the romantic arcs and nuanced character development.

- Charn and Jet
Their relationship unfolds in such a different way than Peem and Khem’s. They first surrender to passion, acknowledge their feelings but then take a step back, deciding to build something carefully, with all the uncertainty that entails. I love the contrast with PK's relationship building as it makes each story feel unique.

- Phor Kru / Peem’s Arc
I don’t think Peem’s confession and openness came too quickly at all. If anything, it felt like the natural breaking point after years of holding everything in. When he asks Khem to call him just P/Peem it’s clear he’s tired of the constant restraint that comes with being Phor Kru. He just wants to exist as himself for Khem, yes, but also for his own peace. That hit me hard, his yearning to shed the constant control demanded by his role. For once, he can exist freel, not as a 'spiritual-teacher' (wouldn't really know how else to describe it lol) bound by duty, but as himself. This moment of liberation felt essential both for his relationship and his own self-acceptance. (And side note: the haircut this episode? Perfection. I couldn't stop screaming everytime he was on screen- And major points to DMD for finally giving us realistic tattoos!)

- Acting
Namping absolutely floored me. The way he cries is just beautiful, it feels so genuine. And I especially admired how well he played a character who’s bad at lying. That’s harder than it looks, because you have to “act badly” on purpose, while still keeping it believable. He delivered it flawlessly.

Main takes from the first episode

I decided to watch today after seeing some people talking about it and here is my observation.
Keep in mind I love kdramas, cdramas and many american series, so I will have it in mind when commenting.

Story:
Nothing original honestly, I saw many similar plots being released in Thailand and even a GL version coming.
The only hype is because it's a popular novel for some years already, but other than that, I didn't get any wow factor to make it something different.
Thailand does tons of lakorns and movies with this kind of theme, jsut because it's a BL doesn't add anything much to me personally.
The first episode was the standard explanation of the story, nothing very exciting so far. The pace was dragging a bit in some moments and in others it was like throwing moments all at once.

Acting:
So far, I get that the MC is quite weak as a main actor here.
His facial expressions are quite bland and generic, I can't see a lot of emotion yet from him. Maybe he will get better but for now he is quite boring and a bit cringe with his reactions.
His best friend is okay, but very forced to be the kind of is preocupied and the comic relief apparently. Let's see how this one will go and if will be something more interesting.
The ML is the classic close faced character, nothing much so far about him. Let's see how the actor will do, I saw him with Jeff and he was decent. I wonder how well the MC and ML will go with the MC being the weak link here. Honestly, compared to jeff, it's very hard to imagine him doing much better to get the same chemistry.

Ghosts:
A mix of ghost and wanna be zombie, some of them have a poor make up that makes it with a 3rd rate quality customization.
Besides some classic jump scare in the beginning, I didn't see anything much scary during the whole episode.
As someone used to terror, horror and zombie movies and series, the quality is just your average. Since thailand does it a lot, it was a minimum expected but nothing note worthy.

Special Effects:
Some basic effects right now, many felt quite cheap honestly. Gave me a 2000's series vibe, which we should be above in terms of visual effects already.
The light effects specially were very bad, felt like whoever did it doesn't have much experience yet or the team decided to go to the cheap side. Let's see how the rest of the series go in this part, because I imagine that should be a key element.

Overall:
The hype appears to be manly from novel fans and pair fans. Plot wise, as well as acting and visual effects go, it's a pretty mainstream series with nothing different beyond being a BL version of something that is already done in thailand for years, and one that soon will get the GL version too.
MC is the weak link so far in terms of acting (face and emotions), ML I'm waiting to see if he will deliver close to what he did with the movie and I don't expect much from the main pair yet considering what I saw from the ML with Jeff.
I will wait the secondary characters to check more how well, or not, they will go too.

✨ Khemjira – Episode 1 Review ✨

Just finished watching Khemjira Episode 1 and… wow. If you’re a horror fan, this is a must-watch. From the very first scene, the series pulls you into an unsettling world where every shadow feels alive, every silence feels heavy, and every frame drips with tension.

The cinematography is hauntingly beautiful — dark tones, lingering shots, and eerie lighting that instantly set the mood. The sound design is equally spine-chilling, with subtle whispers and sudden sharp beats that make your heart race without relying on cheap jump scares.

Episode 1 doesn’t waste time spoon-feeding the story. Instead, it teases just enough of the mystery to keep you hooked while leaving you with dozens of questions. Who can be trusted? What’s real and what’s imagined? The line between reality and nightmare blurs in the most deliciously disturbing way.

The cast does a phenomenal job of drawing you in. The lead character’s fear and confusion feel raw and believable, making you experience the tension right alongside them. Secondary characters are intriguing, each hinting at hidden motives or dark pasts.

What impressed me most is how the horror here isn’t just about ghosts or monsters — it’s psychological. It digs into your mind and plants seeds of unease that stay with you long after the episode ends.

If Episode 1 is any indication of what’s to come, *Khemjira* is about to be a gripping ride of dread, mystery, and chills. Horror lovers, prepare yourself. You’ll want to watch this one with the lights off… if you dare.

Definitivamente uma das melhores do ano

Tá, vamos conversar sobre Khemjira, porque eu ainda tô digerindo o quanto essa série me deixou encantada e, ao mesmo tempo, revoltada com certas coisas. Antes de qualquer coisa: que produção linda. A fotografia é de cair o queixo, cada cena parece uma pintura. As locações são um absurdo de bonitas, e a trilha sonora… meu Deus, a trilha sonora. Ela entra no momento certo, envolve, arrepia, faz tudo parecer mais intenso do que já é. Khemjira é aquele tipo de série que te conquista primeiro pelos olhos e depois te prende com uma história bem contada.

Os atores, aliás, merecem todos os aplausos possíveis. Cada um deles conseguiu dar vida a personagens que, facilmente, podiam ter sido rasos e superficiais, mas não foram. O Khem, por exemplo. Na novel, ele é aquele tipo de protagonista que me irrita profundamente: passivo, dependente, cheio de “aiiin, como sou baixinhaaam”. Eu tenho alergia a isso. Mas o Namping fez mágica. Ele conseguiu dar um novo tom pro Khem, mantendo o “bom moço”, mas sem deixá-lo tão insuportável. Ficou cativante, humano, leve. É raro eu mudar de opinião sobre um personagem assim, e olha… Namping me ganhou.

Agora, o Pharan. Ai, o Pharan. Um homem delicioso, mas que também me tirou do sério. Eu sei, ele é um gostoso, tem aquele charme impossível de ignorar, mas vamos combinar que ele foi bem ridículo com o Khem em vários momentos. Tadinho do menino, eu só queria abraçar e colocar num potinho. Mesmo assim, não consigo julgar tanto quando ele se recusa a ajudar com a maldição, porque, sendo sincera, qualquer pessoa normal teria feito o mesmo. Ninguém em sã consciência se mete com uma maldição por alguém que acabou de conhecer. Mas poxa, não custava ser gentil um pouquinho, né?

E aí vem o Jet, meu amorzinho, meu tesouro, o verdadeiro raio de sol dessa história. Ele ganhou cada pedacinho do meu coração. Que personagem precioso, divertido, amoroso, aquele amigo que você agradece por existir. O Khem já teria ido de vala a muito tempo sem ele, disso eu tenho certeza. O Jet é o alívio cômico, mas também o alicerce emocional da série, e o First encaixou como uma luva nesse papel. Eu tô genuinamente encantada.

E falando em encanto: o Chan. Um neném que só quer ser notado pelo crush. As cenas dele com o Jet são uma fofura que me derrete inteira. Eles têm essa vibe de primeiro amor, de nervosismo bonitinho e olhares tímidos. É aquele tipo de casal que te faz sorrir sem perceber.

Agora, preciso falar de algo que me deixou bem irritada: os pais do Khem. Sério, que desastre de responsabilidade. O menino vive cercado por espíritos e maldições e ninguém achou uma boa ideia ensinar o garoto a se proteger? Nenhuma aula de defesa espiritual, nada de templo, nada de magia de proteção, nada! E ainda o pai some pra se ordenar monge depois da morte da mãe, deixando o filho completamente sozinho e desprotegido. Como é que isso faz sentido? Isso é negligência parental com todas as letras. Eu passei boa parte da série pensando: “como esse menino ainda tá vivo?”.

E por último, mas definitivamente não menos importante: Ramphueng. Que personagem fascinante. Ela começa como uma figura quase etérea e vai se tornando cada vez mais sombria, mais poderosa, mais intensa. A transformação dela é uma das coisas mais bem feitas da série. E a atriz… perfeita. Eu chorei com ela, senti raiva dela, e mesmo odiando, não consegui deixar de entender. Ramphueng é complexa, trágica e linda em sua própria destruição. Ela teve um final digno, porque apesar de todos os males que ela causou, ela ainda era só uma mãe destruída pela perda do filho. Depois do Jet, ela é facilmente meu personagem favorito.

No fim, Khemjira pode ser considerado uma das melhores do ano. É uma obra-prima, bonita, história redondinha e bem contada, emocionante e cheia de nuances. E se você ainda não viu… bom, prepare-se pra sofrer, rir, e se apaixonar um pouquinho por cada um deles. Eu já tô aqui, querendo rever só pra sentir tudo de novo.

Eu imaginei que seria bom, mas conseguiu superar todas as minhas expectativas

Meu Deus, que drama perfeito! Eu gostei que foi muito mais história e o romance em segundo plano. Eu enrolei para assistir porque odeio acompanhar semana após semana, então faltando apenas um episódio a ser lançado comecei a assistir e maratonei os episódios em um único dia de tão viciante que é!
A história é muito boa, as atuações de TODOS são perfeitas, eu dei muita risada e me arrepiava constantemente em cada revelação, acredito que foi por isso que Khemjira ultrapassou a bolha BL e se tornou um dos grandes sucessos.

Eu acho que foi a cena de uma primeira experiência sexual mais bonita que eu já vi, e acho que o áudio que o diretor divulgou no twitter teria sido perfeito em cena, já que a história sempre mostrou o Khem como uma pessoa extremamente ingênua e descobrindo todos os sentimentos. Então eu acho que a fala do Peem teria encaixado tudo perfeitamente, mas se não soubéssemos que essa fala existia, não nos deixaria com este pensamento porque foi muito bem representado tudo.
E meu Deus, o episódio 9 foi tipo o Casamento Sangrento de Game of Thrones né? Aconteceu tanta coisa, tantas perdas importantes mesclando com a história tão dolorosa da Ramphueng que eu só consegui ficar atônica no final do desenrolar. Mas não gostei da maneira que o Khem reagiu, apesar de entender, ele virou as costas para proteger o Peem quando ele ficou sem ninguém.
Infelizmente o episódio 11 foi repleto de clichês depois de um desenvolvimento tão bom. O afogamento do Charn e Jet seria completamente evitado se ao cair o Charn já subisse para a superfície. Já no templo, o confronto do Peem com a Ramphueng foi repleto de enrolação de ambas as partes, enquanto um aguardava dar meia-noite, a outra esperava seu “exército” chegar, mas o que mais me incomodou foram as reações do Khem, que em alguns momentos mais “marcantes” ele age desesperado como se não estivesse acostumado a conviver com fantasmas há 20 anos, ainda mais quando estão a distância. E a sacada da hora, do nascimento de fato dele, foi bem coerente, já que lá no primeiro episódio seria preciso o mestre saber todas as informações para fazer o mapa astral dele. Foi uma falha tremenda do Xamã nesse aspecto. O que virou um grande trunfo para ela, ficou me parecendo bem amador quando se trata ao Xamã kkkkkk Mas confesso que adorei, pelo um teve senso kkkkk
Já o episódio 12 a resolução de toda a maldição foi resolvida muito rapidamente e quando eu percebi que ainda teria 1h09 minutos de série eu só conseguia torcer para que não estragassem tudo. Apesar de achar que o desenvolvimento dos dois últimos episódios foram um pouco mais arrastado e abaixo do esperado depois de 10 episódios perfeitos, eu fico muito feliz em ver um drama tão bom. Acho que foi um dos BLs tailandeses que eu mais me envolvi justamente porque a produção focou na história, OST maravilhosa e não apenas no romance ou em cenas hot.
Achei que a primeira noite do Peem e Khem foi boa, apesar de não achar que a música combinou muito, mas as cenas de merchan pareceram um tanto quanto desconexas neste episódio, mas entendo que é preciso mostrar também os patrocinadores, então relevei. Pareceu que a última cena do Peem, em família, quando ele ficou sozinho na mesa, ele estava tendo sentimentos mistos e que falaria algo, talvez pela postura que o ator estava quando a cena foi finalizada.
Mas vale todo o tempo investido assistindo, e a emoção dos atores na festa de encerramento e de terem se provado um casal que não se arrependeu em momento nenhum de ter se escolhido foi muito forte, porque hoje, juntos, foram reconhecidos.
PS: A minha única decepção foi: na cena extra os filhos falando papai e papai, eu fiquei feliz pra kct em pensar que seria um dos poucos BLs que não colocaria um parceiro como esposa, para depois o Peem dizer: "minha esposa", ai a decepção veio kkkk Odeio quando colocam sempre um como feminino. Gostaria que isso mudasse.

É O BL DO ANO SIM

Dizer que Khemjira é o BL do ano não é suficiente. Demorei um pouco pra começar porque eu simplesmente não sei acompanhar nada, fico ansiosa demais. Porém, a cada episódio novo eu via spoilers e só ficava mais e mais instigada.

Li a novel achando que isso me ajudaria a segurar a ansiedade e esperar mais episódios serem lançados (planejei assistir só quando o penúltimo saísse), mas isso só me deixou com mais vontade de ver logo. E, meu Deus, não me arrependo! Acho que esse é um dos melhores, se não o melhor elenco que já vi. E não falo só dos quatro principais personagens, os papéis de apoio também foram incríveis!

E o que dizer das atrizes que interpretaram Khem, Charn e Jet na vida passada?? ✨ABSOLUTAMENTE CINEMA✨. A cinematografia é impecável, cada cena parece pensada com tanto cuidado… sinceramente, não tenho do que reclamar.

Outro ponto que amei foi o desenvolvimento que deram pro casal secundário, meus CharnJet! Não sei de quem foi a ideia, mas eu sempre serei grata. Também não sei quem ficou responsável pela escalação dos atores Tle e FirstOne, mas deixo aqui meu eterno agradecimento. Vocês me deram o meu shipp favorito kkkk Eu tô obcecada por eles e confesso que foram o grande motivo pra começar Khemjira antes do planejado.

Enfim, Khemjira é definitivamente uma obra-prima. Com certeza irei reassistir em algum momento.

Tout est une question de karma ?

Entre surnaturel et croyances, Khemjira est un drama intrigant avec un soin tout particulier dans sa photographie, malgré une histoire trop étirée et une révélation (et résolution) finale trop facile.

Khem (Nampin) est maudit. Il accepte son sort, mais ne désespère pas qu'un miracle puisse lui éviter une mort certaine avant d'atteindre ses vingt-et-un ans. C'est un jeune homme gentil et amical, mais tellement mou. Son personnage avait peu de nuance. Namping a été le plus faible en termes de jeu. Il manquait cruellement d'expressions faciales. L'excitation ? L'inquiétude ? La peur ? L'amour ? Il n'y avait rien de tout ça. Il n'a jamais montré un esprit combatif, déchiré ou amoureux. Au cours des 12 épisodes, Namping n'a eu que deux expressions : un sourire faiblard et une petite larme.

Peem Pharan (Keng Harit Buayoi) m'a fasciné avec son style, son allure et son regard profond. Chamane apprécié et respecté, il ne touche pas à la magie et possède une foi particulièrement forte et pure. Keng Harit Buayoi était beau (je n'abuse même pas). Pour moi, il captait et volait toute l'attention lors d'une scène grâce à ses yeux (dans lesquels j'ai adoré me fondre), à la profondeur de ses émotions et à la dévotion envers ses croyances. Keng Harit Buayoi a trouvé le bon équilibre pour donner le sentiment de se soucier de Khem, mais tout en donnant l'impression d'en être détaché. Ce n'est ni trop ni pas assez, un bon juste-milieu.

En revanche, c'est un couple effacé. Leur relation est lente, douce, agréable aussi, mais elle me donne l'impression d'être fugace, presque absente. Si les longs regards et les moments suspendus dans le temps tentent de prouver le contraire, leur arc romantique manque de force. C'est comme s'ils étaient contraints d'être ensemble, car liés par leur ancienne vie. Avec une telle thématique, je m'attendais à un amour qui dépasserait toutes croyances et toutes frontières. À mes yeux, l'unique raison de leur sentiment est leur vie passée. Il n'y a pas de sentiments actuels qui aient vraiment un poids sur le présent (à moins que je ne les aie pas remarqués).

À contrario, la romance entre Chan (Tle Matimun Sreeboonrueang) et Jet (First Wannakorn) est plus éclatante et soignée, malgré un arc réduit. Leur romance ne s'est pas seulement reposée sur leur ancienne vie. Elle devient presque un simple détail pour les personnages. Ce couple était amusant et adorable. Le côté espiègle de Jet s'est parfaitement associé à celui plus mesuré et maladroit de Chan.

Ramphueng (Green Ausadaporn Siriwattanakul) est une formidable antagoniste avec des motivations cohérentes et bien développées. Cela donne du corps à la malédiction (et donc l'intrigue), mais aussi au personnage. Néanmoins, c'est davantage la performance de Green Ausadaporn Siriwattanakuln que je retiens, au détriment du reste. Elle n'est pas un mauvais personnage, ni un mauvais élément de l'intrigue. En revanche, je ne m'attendais pas à deviner les choses si tôt la concernant. Même la révélation finale n'a pas été une surprise pour moi, car devinée dans les épisodes précédents.

Pour être honnête, Khemjira me laisse sur une note mitigée. J'étais au rendez-vous tous les samedis soirs, mais dans les derniers épisodes, une longueur s'est installée. L'intrigue autour de Khem s'est trouvée inutilement étirée. J'attendais aussi une ambiance plus intense, plus haletante et plus menaçante et horrifique. C'est mon erreur d'avoir cru plonger dans un drame de ce genre, bien que cela n'enlève en rien la qualité de production qui est d'un niveau supérieur que les BLs habituels. Visuellement, le drame est une pure réussite avec une photographie magnifique, une palette de couleurs soignée et des décors ravissants.

En bref, Khemjira est une histoire imparfaite, mais intrigante sur fond chamanique dans un cadre ravissant avec une photographie exceptionnelle.

História, elenco, fotografia TUDO perfeito. Conseguiram melhorar a novel.
O final? PERFEITO! A coisa mais fofa a cena pós creditos do último episódio.
Gente, só assistam super recomendo, foi um prazer acompanhar esse bl desde o primeiro episódio.

My loves, what a BL masterpiece.
The story, the cast, the cinematography EVERYTHING was perfect. They actually managed to improve on the original novel.
The ending? PERFECT! The post-credits scene in the final episode was the cutest thing ever.
Guys, just watch it I highly recommend it. It’s been a pleasure following this BL since the very first episode.
