Good Enough
Korean Drama '' Family Matters '' is a sci fi mystery drama with a complex plot with many layers. The drama is indeed complex, with many sides to the story, many interesting characters, and enough twists to keep things fresh. It also had many action scenes that were well done. However, there should have been more information on the characters' background and, especially, on that mysterious organization that trained them.
Nevertheless, the humour was enjoyable, the family was sweet and offered a lot of entertainment, and there is room for another season.
In addition, the performances were all great by everyone in the cast, who handled their characters splendidly.
So, overall, eight out of ten.

I LOVEEEEE THIS SHOW!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Do not miss this show, it's sooooo good!!!I love the dark humor and the story is just really refreshing.
The whole casts acting is amazing and each character is written beautifully. To be honest, I have never come across such a unique cast of characters in 1 show before in a kdrama. The way each character reacts catches me offguard. That's the best part.
I think what I found really refreshing is the dynamic of the twins.
The boy looks soft but is a complete psycho genius. Like Lomon really nailed the psycho pookie look. His smile when he enjoys watching torture is really cute. 🤣❤️
The girl looks rough but is a big softie inside. The thing is, she's actually the most normal one in the family and it is the scariest part. I love her!!!
Honestly, I did not expect it but the girl twin played by Lee Su Hyun... I think I have the biggest crush on her. She is so so cool and absolutely GORGEOUS.
I wish we can have Lee Su Hyun as a female lead in more dramas. Her features are so distinct and refreshing. I actually started watching this drama because of her reels on IG. Her visuals just got me very curious.
The parents and grandfather also are so crazy and loveable. I love this family dynamic.
This drama is one where I just feel like I NEED MOREEEE, the episodes are long and because the drama is so interesting, I feel just goes by fast. I am looking forward to future episodes and hopefully season 2. This is the BEST dark kdrama drama in 2024.

I get the concept but the execution is boringThe backstory has been done so many times it’s annoying
either it's a child abusing army camp or it's a cult church, and add bullying but then connect all 3 and it's so eyeroll worthy how everything goes wrong for them
the gore and torture was also skip able and overall everything was so flat

If you are in doubt to give this drama a chance DONTT!!! You will love it
mahn the series has all my attention...If you liked drams like Atypical family, moving etc you will like this one gor sure. The gifted people storyline is not new but the execution is definitely interesting the way they do not give us any idea of the gifts of the characters is new, usually kdramas introduce the gifts of characters early on in every shows. This drama is definitely underrated I don't get why it is not getting the attention it truly deserves.Do give it a chance you will not regret it:):)

Addams Family meets The Witch: Subversion
If you're in the mood for a dark, quirky, gory, unconventional family dramedy, check out this binge worthy kdrama. It's action packed with superpowers and superb acting from the cast.LIKES:
1) Bae Doona - she is phenomenal as the deadpan awkward mother figure who is trying to look out for her family the best way she knows how. Her character reminds me of Wednesday from the Addams Family and the FL in The Witch Subversion. A bit emotionally dead, but caring at the same time but also violent.
2) Lee Su Hyun - this newcomer rocked her role. Supposedly it's her debut, but you can't tell at all. She acted well, stood out, and made herself memorable which is not easy to do. I have to say the women really shined in this drama
3) The message - Despite all the gore and violence, at the heart of it, it's a family drama with an endearing message.
4) The humor - the director/editor/writer did a good job with balancing the dark & violent with bouts of humor
5) The action/gore - The action scenes were fun and the gore made me scrunch up in disgust....soooo basically effective lol
6) The acting - the entire cast from the family to the villains all were believable
DISLIKES:
1) The ending - the last episode felt a little corny imo. Not horrible, but a little anti-climatic
2) A bit forgettable - I had binged watch 5 episodes and then watched ep 6 much later and to be honest, I had pretty much forgotten what had happened in the entire drama. All I remembered was Doona & Su Hyun's characters.
Overall, an easy binge watch that felt fresh, but familiar at the same time. I would absolutely watch season 2 and would recommend this to those of you who like shows like Wednesday, Moving, The Witch: subversion, or A shop for Killers.

Fast Paced
This drama is amazing, but it has some problems. One is that it is too short. They tried to fit a big story into a short drama, and there were many scenes where they could have added more content. The acting was great, but the music wasn't there. It wasn't bad or good; it was just average.
And it was unnecessary to add nudity to the show.

Leaves you wanting more
Overall, I enjoyed this miniseries. Really loved the black comedy vibes. That being said, a lot of background and foundational info was missing from the story that I would have liked and that ending sent me! Rarely do I say a show needs more episodes but this is the 2nd one I've watched this year that maybe needed 10 eps. Hopefully, there is a 2nd season.
I thought it was an interesting take on the child solider being trained assassins trope. And I understood Yeong Su's motivations and how she wanted a "normal family". It's a terrible thing to grow up they way they did. Then we find that out at the end and I was like OMFG!!! WHAT!! She did that to Cheol Hui....GOODNESS!! I liked the twins as well and that Ji Woo developed as a character. She understood why they had to sacrifice so much.
The best thing though, for me, was that all those horrible people got some of the best punishments being doled out in a series that I have ever seen.
I have never see Bae Doo Na in anything else but she was so good in this that I will seek her other work out.

Satisfying
The satisfaction I received everytime. If you don't like looking at blo*d then don't watch it, i could literally heard blo*d burst from their body. Kind off scary and disgusting. But it was really satisfying to watch. As i watch the drama, I suddenly remembered the movie Witch since they're kind off similar. Its also similar to Uncanny Counter but remove the horror. Idk if you also felt similar to that.
If you're a closed minded person and don't like nud*ty and excessive blo*od, then don't watch it. But if you like it then watch it.
(if there's s2, please please, explain their powers, its so annoying to watch not knowing their powers)

Some dogs were harmed!
I would like to start this review by saying I'm probably not the targeted demographic for this show. i'm not very big on violence and Family Matters has a lot of it. After watching just the first episode I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the whole thing but seeing it was only 6 episodes long I decided to buckle up and take it like a champ, and I'm honestly glad I did it.Family Matters might not be SK's new masterpiece but it is a fun watch with a somewhat new concept. Not all characters are likeable at first but their character arcs worked in their favour (at least for me, feel free to disagree).
I would also like to applaud the lack of gore simply for shock value, although I'm not a fan of violence (as stated previously) and this show has it's fair share of it, none of the harm seemed to be done just for the sake of doing it: it all served a purpose to the story.
P.S.: I'm still pissed about Simbok, had to take some points just for him.

NOT ENOUGH
Have you ever eaten something so delicious that when you crave more, you realize it’s all gone? That’s exactly how I felt after finishing this drama. The drama Family Matters has only six episodes, and I believe it would have been better if it had 12 episodes. Six episodes might not be enough to leave a lasting impression on some viewers.
My Rating: 8.0
