It's the best series I have watched so far

It's the best series I have watched so far. The story touches my heart in many way. The way the actors delivered the emotion, the narrative and how the story was put togther make it even more enjoyable. It was simple yet very special how two broken people find comfort in each other. Each of their story itself reflects so much on how most of us are--neglecting our emotion, bear things alone, selfless,....--which made me think a lot about life. And I think that what makes this type of series special--it shows and teaches you sth.

Some people might find it hard to get into this type of production style but I highly recommend this series. Worth every bit of it (except!! there are many scenes where actors smoke-- ig, they were trying to portray how fraustreted or hard it is for the characters, but I think they are unessary). Still, glad I spent my valentine's day binge watching this haha.

"Love, Loss, and the Unfinished Stories of a Melo"

After a long time, I finally watched a drama that made me cry my heart out. Everything this drama portrayed felt so real—the way life can be unfair until the very end for some, how some people can't let go no matter what, how love can turn into hate, and how some hide their struggles behind a bubbly nature and a faint smile. For some, life is simply unfortunate.

But no matter what, everyone has at least one person who makes them want to live, smile, protect, love, share, hang out, and just be there.

This series made me truly see and feel the characters. The main thing that left me wanting to write this review is how deeply it captured the emotions of those left behind after someone dies. The grief, the emptiness—it’s heartbreaking. You miss them but can’t see them, you want to touch them but can’t. And those who bottle up these emotions, pretending to be okay when they’re not, need someone who will simply stay by their side, letting them mourn in peace.

Because grief isn’t something you can force. It’s okay to take time, to accept things slowly. At the end of the day, life is long—it’s not a movie, but reality. We don’t need to fit everything into those two hours because, in reality, a day is 24 hours long, and we have many more days ahead.

And maybe that’s the beauty of life—it doesn’t wrap up neatly like a drama. It’s messy, unpredictable, and sometimes unbearably painful. But as long as we have that one person who makes us want to keep going, even through the darkest times, we’ll find our way.

From Loss and Heartbreak to healing.

First I would definitely say that this is drama is not everyone's cup of tea, if you are looking for a cute fluffy romance you won't find it here, the plot might misled you at first thinking it's a fluff but don't be fooled this drama is a heavy plot and loads of feelings but in a shiny way, the story hits at certain points and you suddenly you will find yourself tearing or crying. for me this drama delt like a slow sad melody.
In my humble opinion if you are older or if you experienced the loss of loved one you will relate to the drama in a different way, somehow it feels like a slice of life with a sprinkle of comedy.
The greatest thing about the drama is the cast, you just want more of their acting, they just never miss on the feelings and I would like to watch them more.
Some episodes were slow somehow but definitely not boring.
It's not the greatest drama ever or anything like this it's just a drama with a touch of humanly feelings that leaves you row after watching it.

Unique youth yet mature vibes - DEEP

As a devoted fan of Choi Woo Sik, particularly from Our Beloved Summer, I initially had concerns that Melo Movie would feel too similar, especially since both dramas share the same screenwriter. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Melo Movie stands apart with its own unique charm and storytelling approach.

From the very first episode, the series establishes itself as refreshingly direct, fast-paced, and engaging. Unlike many K-dramas that rely heavily on coincidences and an overuse of flashbacks to connect the dots, Melo Movie takes a more linear, day-to-day storytelling approach. The first episode efficiently lays the groundwork for the narrative, while the remaining nine episodes unfold naturally, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the characters’ lives without excessive backtracking.

What truly sets this drama apart is its masterful handling of emotions. There are moments of silence so profound that they create a sense of unease, making you anticipate something dramatic, only for the scene to shift unexpectedly into a moment of quiet comfort. This delicate balance keeps the audience emotionally engaged throughout. The story revolves around young adults navigating uncertainty, searching for direction in life, yet it delves much deeper, delivering raw, heartfelt emotions that resonate long after the screen fades to black.

Melo Movie is not just another romantic drama; it is an introspective and beautifully crafted piece that captures the struggles and vulnerabilities of youth in an authentic, touching way. Whether you're a fan of Choi Woo Sik or simply appreciate well-executed storytelling, this series is definitely worth watching.

This would have worked as a movie!

Dropped around ep 5. i cant watch any longer. It feels like a chore I'm forced to do when I'm all snuggled up in my bed, like your relatives drop by to hang out and you are required to join the crowd. Such an inconvenient and lengthy situational instance.

Visually beautiful and really good setting and backdrops though. In terms of characters and plot, pacing all exhausting. I think they should have focused more on carving characters out, we did get their through process which feels like they were reading a script technically right! Like surfacing their struggles or way of living rather than showing how each personality contrasted from one another or their choices. I'm mainly talking about the first couple cause my beef is with them with the story mostly covering their side.

Their banter so dull and often times feels repetative. The few scenes are not long enough to connect with someone, I'm not them so I can't decide that yup! As for the chemistry its non-existent. I know this is a "melo" but, for a build up of the turmoil of emotions, bitter conflicts in their relationship there is a need for a concrete romantic story that makes you want to consider that they deserve to have a second chance in love come on even the first time they briefly got together feels abrupt and forced too. The time skip was too big and the characters are now assigned job titles and are well....settled a bit i guess, again just cutting down on a lot of process that could have given us an outlook on how they got to where they are now.

Everything feels redundant and contrived, nothing natural nor is the pain or the trauma, the ups and downs of people in 30s trying to reach their dreams and manage relationships with a vision of melo-romance(?) Idk the description was kinda like that. Anyways it fails majorly, this is a wasted potential with a sloppy direction, characters that lacked depth and no emotional connection and plot is just a plain dried bread sitting on counter for too long.

Osts and the cinematography is good, the casting stellar in terms of visuals too but its all nah-nah-uh for me with how bad it's going. I do like Kim jae-wook and love him here with the mullet and playing a considerate, consumed in guilt/helplessly dependent yet is a good companion, optimistic and a reliable bro to gyeom role. Also the director was an interesting chummy character.

5/10 or maybe 6/10.

Loved it! A slow unfolding of life that I would rather not fast-forward.

I started it for the main leads + the premise seemed fun (timepass) enough. I kept watching for the beautiful representation of life between the highlighted moments, movie & life mirroring each other, the parallels between the reel & real life so poignantly depicted.
It's an art to make slow dramas that capture the audience without frustrating them. I enjoyed the ride. I'll definitely watch it again.
Kudos as always to Park Bo Young, I'd happily watch anything with her in it - she's a lovely actress with such a range of depicting emotions.

it was like reading a book for me

most kdramas are just kdramas for me, its a story its a series and i enjoy watching them. however, something about this drama made me feel like i was reading a book about how life is. maybe it was the filmography maybe it was the lines but something about this drama was on a different level of profound and beautiful to me.

before watching, i had no knowledge of what this would be about except on the great casting. hell, i thought this was actually a movie and not a series. while watching, it felt like a little bit of everything: romance, angst, slice of life, and grief. which is what i liked the most about it. it was perfectly a balance of everything we experience. this kdrama was the epitome of what life is and that's what i loved about it. it felt so Real that watching it was just a nice refreshing feeling for me. nothing was exaggerated and you know, how the characters approached everything in this story felt so again, real. it was human.

honestly, nothing particularly stands out in this kdrama. nothing is unique and nothing is special but i feel like that's whats makes it so beautiful for me. nothing is grand yet in small pieces i find something beautiful.

again, it felt like reading a book. like how books would allow me to reflect on things, this drama made me reflect too. it made me gain perspective on life and idk... it just feels nice to watch these type of kdramas that remind us that reality is reality and while there is pain, there is also happiness and beauty in it.

my favorite lines from this were
"life seems to have a fixed amount of happiness. in other words, there is also set amount of misfortune"
"so now i'm going to live every moment to the fullest. because life isn't a movie but a reality"
"life is a beautiful, magnificent thing, even to a jellyfish"

overall, i loved this kdrama a lot and it will forever hold a place in my heart. as i said the story isnt even grand yet when i look at this kdrama as a whole, it was a perfect and beautiful kdrama for me.

would love to commend choi wooshik especially for perfectly representing gyeom who allowed me to see that life has indeed a fixed amount of happiness but nothing is bad about it because it is again, just life.

I Love Choi Woo Shik OMG

This should be my comfort drama in 2025, The character development is very smooth All the cast were great and the cemisty was beyond words, I mean they very good together Choi woo shik and park bo young nailed it with Naturalistic story telling.

And also the second couple lee jun young and sonee even they didn't have their happy ending. However maturity is realizing that two of them must be off their way, the music also has great match with the camera shoot, kind of warm and gentle combination, I find my self cries every episodes because of their love bound.

Melo

The story wasn't about the main leads, their story was just a simple romance. What made this serie Intresting was the support actors, their story made the serie complete. I loved the second leads acting and there love struggle, the washed up director, the childhood friend.... Hell I wanted to know what the story behind the female singer..the brother 💔. Yes they made the serie a succes. The acting of the leads gave me "our beloved summer" flashbacks, and the character that Woo sik played was a copy of the male lead of that serie.

waste of time... I was expecting much more

I am really disappointed. I was so looking forward to this drama as Woo Shik is one of my favorite actors. It's so boring. I forced myself to finish it as I had no other option because I watched it on the flight.

Also, the story is very realistic, but it seems absurd that he did not even text her about what was happening, and the lack of communication is frustrating. I hoped it would get better after a few more episodes, but no. Ten episodes never felt so long.
The brothers' story was very sad to watch, but that is it. I did not care about the main couple, and the chemistry was missing. To be honest, it was a wasted 10 hours.

feels like one long movie

you know the feeling movies give you? like there is this special feeling that it's gonna end soon and it actually does but here we have the feeling but not the ending fast part. I really loved it and it was really nice the storyline was really good but it sometimes got me boring but overall it's really nice I really loved his relationship with his brother I think that was my fav part and how there is actually some meanings behind it and depth I found it really really nice and it made me cry I always thought his brother is boring or weird for not having any interests or his own personality but finding out that he decided to make his brother his only goal made me cry and it was so emotional for me. my second fav thing was the main couple I loved them and I love how they were different but still went so good tgt they were so cute. my third fav things would be her relationship with her parents I was really annoyed about the father dayghter relationship I thought It was all so much and she was overreacting I mean I completely understand how she was feeling after all she was still a kid but I felt like the dad could've done better and wasn't absent sm and she could've understood him better and I loved how at the last episode she just realised that she has a mother and started acknowkging her and her love for her. now the second lead couple were my least favourite thing they actually annoyed me SO MUCH everytime they were on screen I was like UGH I love both actors so much but they were so incompatible she's such a baddie and he's lowkey a loser who is so insecure and his ego is big like how can u love ur self and hate ur self so much at the same time IM SO GLADDDD they didn't end up together OK thanks guys BTW THE MUSIV WAS SO GOOD THE OST ATEEE

Very Heart Warming drama

Finally I find my kind of drama in 2025, very gentle, warm yet deep story. The storyline takes a part in relationships and uses the full spectrum new love, after love, familial love, grief and heartbreak. This show will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. For viewers who like cheerful, dynamic vibes, heart fluttering humor and romance, Melomovie is not your cup of tea, I think you will be really bored at the start. However for me this show got 10/10 cause the Naturalistic story telling and relatable romance
