Amazingly Simple and Perfectly Made

When I started this drama, I knew right away this is a simple drama which didn't need over analyzing of the plot. But as more episodes came out, I realized how perfectly made the plot is, containing bits of details that surely enhance the progressing storyline of this drama.

What I love about this drama is that on its simple surface that is already interesting, there is also realizations that are somehow realistic. Not a lot of people can see it because as I saw some of the comments, they are more of an idealistic type of viewer. But this drama isn't flowers and butterflies. This drama isn't overly reliant on intricate matters that are usually seen on this type of genre, eg. politics, harem, manipulation, etc.

It makes you feel relaxed and entertained seeing our lovely couples but at the same time it's giving you things that you suddenly relate to or understand. One good example is while we are watching our couples, it gives you an idea about the different kind of love and that people can be together in different ways:

SH DYX - marriage first before love
FH FLH - love at first sight (the guy is more reliant to wife)
KN CA - both prideful, bickering type but humbled in love
HD SHZ - love at first sight (wife is the active one during the pursuing)
LS YX - enemies to lover

Also if it's gonna be true that QN & KN's twin brother (if alive) end up together in the remaining episodes then it is a love tested through time & loyalty.

These couples if you all observe are actually and are indeed perfectly matched in their personality, behavior, wits and intelligence. Also, another user pointed their observations as well of how the writer actually made a reverse hierarchy between the leads. As the sisters are rank based on their ages, their husbands are in a reverse hierarchy based on their financial standing in the society.

I really like this drama because it is simple but then it is not. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. Also, one thing to point out as well since the main leads for this drama are woman, for me, maybe not to others ok but for me, it also felt like the writer is telling the viewers that a woman can love, can be dependent and trust their partner and at the same time, a woman can also be strong and independent to carry on with herself. Mama Li, even though she is hot headed, has greatly raised her daughters to be people with dignity and stand on their beliefs. Now, onto the topic regarding their husbands "green flag" or "red flag" that should have been long not to be expected in this drama. The male leads are not green flags but they are also not red flags. They are just people wanting to better their relationship and protect their loved ones. We will not meet a lot of green flags in life and that is true. Everyone has a flaw, but in love you accept those right (just not a very red flag please lol). People are just striving to be better versions of themselves. They can make bad decisions out of care and love. It might hurt the people around them even if their purposes are meant for the better. This is the thing that most viewers of this drama missed. In our today's society where equality among genders have been fairly progressing, the setting of this drama is still in an era where patriarchy is huge. But the writer is trying to create a story that is within the boundaries of before and the mirror of today. Hence, the need for marriage and also trying to portray that both man and woman can be partners and woman does not need to fully submit to man. And in the process of them trying to be together, they make decisions that are not "green flags" per se.

This drama is also closely portaying small things that can happen in real life like the recent trope of family leechers which I do understand that and a lot of us here knows that as well. There is also the topic about the importance among parents and nosy neighbors.

This is the first time I'm making a proper review. I have always been commenting around on dramas that I watch no matter if I just like them or love them a lot but I think this drama is easily misunderstood so I'm making a review that might serve helpful to those thinking twice on watching this drama because of what they've read from others.

Note (very important): This drama houses 5 main leads/couples. The flow of the story is that they focus on a main couple while the others become side leads. When one couple has been "perfectly matched" then another couple's story will begin. Personally, I love the elder sister's couple (SH and DYX) hahaha but the recent couple while I write this is the 4th sister's (HD and SHZ) and it is so interesting!!!

Overall, a worthy watch! 🩵

Keep watching and you'll love it very much! 5 dramas in one!

Perfect Match is like a rollercoaster ride where it starts off slow then it goes FAST but in this case, it gets good!
The drama does not focus on one main couple but on several different couples of the Li Family daughters. It's safe to say this is more so of a family drama with multiple genres.

Personally I started watching this drama for Lu Yu Xiao and Liu Xie Ning because I really enjoyed both of their past acting dramas. Unfortunately, this drama does not give them any justice in terms of acting showcase.

There are five daughters of the Li family, their mother is a widow because their father passed from an illness.
Each and every daughter have different personalities of their own and it comes out the most when they're with their partners or fighting with their partners to be exact. lol

The eldest daughter, Shouhua (Liu Xie Ning) is the most matured, and responsible one. She is very well educated, practically a prodigy by Kangning's (Lu yu Xiao) standards. She is very soft spoken so it's rare to see her raise her voice, in a way she's like a second mother to her siblings. Her background story was very sorrowful in a sense because she was married off at a young age to help the Li Family after the death of their father. Ever since her first marriage, she had rumors going around her and always thought she would stay at home for the rest of her life until she met her husband, Du Yang Xi. Her husband is technically a very childish, irresponsible man initially. However, he's also quite protective in fact all the husbands are protective! He wanted to protect Shouhua and Li Family by making the worse decision in his life, and luckily he was eventually forgiven. Their story was more mellodramatic, and angst with a teeny, tiny bit of romance. I wasn't too into their story tbh.

The second daughter Fu Hui (Wu Xuan Yi ) was already married when you first begin watching this drama. Her husband is Fan Liang Han (Huang Sheng Chi.) LIang Han was quite incessantly annoying imo, he was also a coward initially with Fu Hui. Eventually, he learned how much she cared about him and I suppose he man'd up. LOL Personally, I was not too fond of this couple because their story wasn't interesting for me either. I would say their relationship is more comedic, strong female lead vibes.

The third daughter, Kangning, played by LYX is the eloquent, quick thinker of the siblings. She married Wang Xing Yue's character, Chai An. Their relationship was giving love at first sight, but with angst and enemies to lovers trope, youth romance. Kanging also had a twin brother that was engaged to Qiong Nu but that's a story for you guys to watch.

Now onto the fun, and my favorite arc of Perfect Match! The fourth daughter, Hao De (Ke Ying), is the black horse of this drama! Her relationship arc was AMAZING TO WATCH! Hence, do NOT give up on this drama. LOL Hao De was more tamed in the begining of the drama, despite getting dragged into trouble with her fifth sister. During her marriage, we finally see what she was capable of! She's a strong headed woman, able to hold her own. Although, I didn't enjoy the crying scenes whenever she didn't get her way. Alas, she was still technically a teen(? ancient Chinese women got married young so I'm not surprised.) I digress, she is quite smart in her own right. Her husband, Shen Hui Zhao (Liang Yong Qi) was older than her and seemed more strict in a sense. He did not, will not marry Hao De nor anyone for that matter, and was adament on that decision! Something happened, and Haode fought back and showed him that he will miss her if he tells her to go back home. Their relationship arc was giving angst, drama, thriller, detective work, strong female lead, humor, and romance! Basically a drama of its own! I loved it a lot! Liang Yong Qi redeemed himself in this drama as a really good husband!

Finally the fifth daughter, aka the trouble maker of the family, Le Shan (Huangyang Tian Tian) is a very outspoken, and vioelent, strong independet woman! From the beginning of the drama to the end, Le Shan's personally was already out in the open. She's ready to fight anyone who is against the Li Family. In her marriage arc, she was beating people up to her heart's content, to her mother's dismay, and it was really funny to watch. LOL She is very smart, and will always outsmart her enemies just like her sisters. Her husband is Yang Xian (Win Win) is actually well paired as he is just as loud, and obnoxious as her - except with more arrogance. When he first appeared in the drama, he left a bad taste in my and probably everyone's mouth. But eventually you will grow to like him because at the end of the day, he just needed warmth and love. I read a comment comparing him to Dao Ming Si of Meteor Garden aka Boys Over Flower and I have to agree. Yang Xian is very much a parallel to Dao Ming Si in a way that he loves his violent wife, because the way he always smiles at her beating up people(and him) was quite endearing to watch. He also has a very caring sister who wishes him well and hope that he can be tamed by Le Shan. He hangs out with his boys, he's rich, she's from a merchant family, etc. Ya know just very parallel with F4, etc. This couple was giving love/hate relationship, comedy, arrogant male lead, strong headed female lead vibes.

Eveyone acted quite well, and I barely saw any black holes. Albeit, the mother seems like a comedy relief in this drama - every time she faints it was just HILARIOUS! It's not like a your typical gradual eye rolling then fall kind of faint - it waws literally close your eyes and fall. LMAO

Would I recommend this? Sure! It's an interesting way to watch a family drama - focusing on separate couples instead of one. If you don't like the slow start, then maybe skip around and see which couple you'd prefer. Enjoy!

potential wasted, but not entirely(?)

perfect match had the potential to be an incredible drama with its premise, but what was going through the writer’s mind 🤨— i found myself frowning more often than smiling and simply enjoying it.

first, let’s talk about the li family, outside of their relationships and conflicts with their partners. for this part, i’d give a solid 9/10. i love how they always come together to share their joys and struggles. smart and pretty girls sitting side by side—who wouldn’t love that?

the bro-in-law alliance, on the other hand, was just pure comedy. not much to say on its strengths or flaws, but every time they gathered, they looked like dumb and dumber, which was entertaining enough.

each couple had its own unique charm, so you could just pick which one suited your taste. but every time i was getting into a couple’s story and their conflict, the execution failed to deliver. the resolutions were consistently anticlimactic, messy, or outright nonsensical. if it weren’t for si niang and san ge's arc, there’s no way i’d give this drama an 8.5. the fourth couple carried with their 10/10 storyline— individual growth, romance line, and even the case they worked on together were all executed well, with a steady and satisfying pace.

i don’t have much to say about the music and cinematography—they were beautiful and fitting for the drama’s theme.

for all the love and frustration this drama gave me, i’m still rating the rewatch value high because episodes 20-28 were everything for me 🫶🏼 aka i’ll definitely be revisiting haode and huizhao’s story again and again 💘😍

Madam Li's Little Women

Madam Li, a widow, and her five single daughters move from their hometown to Bianjing looking for the one married sister to help them and find she might be in more help than them due to her unfavourable situation over at her husband's mansion. And that's really the heart of this drama: women helping women.

In the process of making a life for her family in the city, Madam Li starts a tea house that quickly makes a profit thanks to the family’s hard work.

As the story progress, we learn of these women's past struggles, present worries and hopes. The world they live in is harsh for women, it's even worse for a family full of unmarried daughters. With no man in the family, they have no-one to stand up for them, so they learnt the hard way to stand up for themselves. Because of this, the Li family has made themselves a reputation of being "difficult". So, when Madam Li starts looking to marry her daughters, she knows she must find them their perfect match. Men with money, titles and good reputations are worthless if they are not decent people who will treat her children with the respect they deserve.

Perfect Match was a really fun watch. It has a strong start introducing the dynamics within the family and each sister's personality and traits. There's also a lot of impeccable Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott vibes when the women interact with each other.

The leading men in this story are all good and imperfect people that sometimes make questionable choices. Some need to grow up, others to be humble and one get past trauma. If I am being honest, the Li women might have marry to the rich, prestigious and nobility, but it's the men whom marry up. And they know it, which it's delightful to watch.

The secondary men are trash and not worth being mentioned but I do think I should warn you because they put our ladies through some difficult moments, thankfully our protagonists always rise against all odds thanks to their smarts and the support of their men.

The drama it's a really well made. Each arc has its own sets, costume design, make up and rhythm matching the personality of the couple we are following. It reminded me a lot of romance books series, where each story follows a particular character, and when it's over the rest of the characters (who were the main in the past arc) show up to help out. This also means you can have a favourite arc within the drama and other that you don't like at all. For example, I had a hard time connecting with the second couple, even when the characters were really interesting, but absolutely adored the third one (Haode and Lord Shen forever!).

I had my issues with the writing in some moments, but it didn't outweigh all the goodness from Perfect Match. It helps the actors were perfectly casted for each role and their chemistry is outstanding. Not only the main couples but the relationship between the sisters it's really fun and the "Brothers in Law Alliance" it gets more and more hilarious as it grows.

Perfect Match it's a really heartwarming drama that brought me a lot of good times. I recommend it.

Overall a lovely show

Lovely show and while I hadn't much expectations in the beginning, I found myself waiting for the episode to drop every day. The characters were very attaching, the story was engaging even if I have my grips.
Li Mama is the MVP of the show, I loved her so much.

REVIEW OF THE STORYLINES WITH SPOILERS !!!

- Shouhua & Du Yangxi : Well they started not bad, I had not many prejudices against Yangxi because I kinda understand why he was behaving like this. BUT at some point I got annoyed by him because I didn't like how he pushed her and made her suffer even if it was to protect her (I just hate this excuse).
I think their storyline could've been much more enjoyable if they could've been less dramatic, 10ep was maybe too much for their plot. But when the story wasn't focused on them I found them cute.

- Fuhui & Fan Lianghan : They didn't have a real storyline, they were much more like secondary characters than main lead and it's shame because I liked her personality. Honestly their couple was the least enjoyable and interesting out of all of the couples. I just couldn't get past the fact that he was cheating on her and they had the audacity to make her the crazy one.

- Kangning & Chai An : 2nd favourite couple, my darlings ♥️.
I loved them, loved their storyline even if they got me annoyed at some point. I also loved she broke up with him and defended her family, it was kinda beautiful to see her stand with her family instead of compromising and bending the knees to her in-laws. After the storyline ended, they kept making cute appearances, just regret that we didn't get to see their twins.

- Haode & Shen Huizhao : My fav couple, fav plot they are my EVERYTHING. They are the reason why the show went to mid to a good show.
The amnesia plot was done nicely, not too dragged and because of it their relationship made great progresses. Even after the amnesia faded, the investigations were still entertaining without taking too much place.
They even had a second (real) wedding ceremony. In short they were the BEST 🩷🩷🩷

- Leshan & Yang Xian : their plot was not well developed despite the potential.
I found Xian irredeemable at first because of all the bad things he did in the beginning even more when he kidnapped her to marry her. It was fun to see her beats some sense into him but I didn't see the romance, the love between them, because their plot was kinda rushed. Also I didn't like and understand how all the family ganged up against Xian to "make him a better person" when he had already changed at this point of the story

Anyway, I recommend this drama because it was really entertaining.

A Heartfelt Tapestry of Love and Family

This drama was an enchanting journey, breaking away from the usual formula that focuses solely on one couple. Instead, it presents a delightful mix of dynamics, including a fierce and loving wife keeping her husband on his toes, mischievous troublemakers, a melancholic couple, a righteous and idealistic duo, and an utterly chaotic pair that keeps things lively!

Themes and Inspirations
One of the first aspects that stood out was the undeniable *Pride and Prejudice* vibe. Since P&P is a timeless favourite, it immediately sparked my interest in how this story would unfold. While romance is a key element, the heart of this drama lies in its focus on family, making it a wholesome and heartwarming watch.

Plot and Setting
At its core, the drama follows a strong and loving single mother raising her five daughters in a time where even a whisper or a wrong glance could spell disaster for a young woman’s reputation—and by extension, her entire family’s future. Watching these daughters navigate challenges while their future husbands helplessly fall in love with them was truly endearing.

Of course, through a modern lens, this setting and the societal norms it portrays would spark a wide array of discussions and critiques. However, given that it takes place during the Song Dynasty, it’s clear that this is a romanticized and polished depiction of the realities young women endured in that period.

Story Structure
The drama is structured so that each daughter's story unfolds over approximately 8-10 episodes, ensuring a fast-paced and engaging plot. This approach keeps the narrative fresh while allowing each character’s journey to be explored in depth.

Character Dynamics and Family Bond
Each love story is charming in its own way, but what truly stood out was the unbreakable family bond. Unlike many dramas that thrive on sibling rivalry, scheming, and toxicity, this one emphasises love, support, and togetherness, making it a refreshing and uplifting experience.

Overall Impression
Of course, no drama is perfect. While there were some aspects I wasn’t particularly fond of, the charm, humor, and heartfelt moments far outweighed the drawbacks. This is a soulful and delightful story filled with laugh-out-loud moments, emotional highs and lows, and those little frustrating moments that make you realize just how invested you are. And isn’t that the magic of a great drama?

**Conclusion**
The mixed reviews and discussions surrounding this drama only reinforce how thought-provoking and captivating it truly is. As with any drama, the best way to enjoy it is with an open heart and mind, ready to embrace all the love and warmth it has to offer!

Multi-Leads role

First of all, I’ve been waiting for this drama for a long time, ever since they started filming, and it is indeed captivating.

The storyline is unique and interesting to me because it portrays how women in that dynasty lived without relying on men. The drama features different characters, each with their own distinct personalities, going through their own journeys. The character development is definitely the highlight of the show. The ending feels a bit rushed but still ends perfectly.

The acting is top-tier for me; seeing how they express their emotions brought tears to my eyes. The casting also matched their characters perfectly. The chemistry between the characters is overflowing. 💞

For this drama, I would definitely rewatch it! I’d give it a solid 10. If you love watching stories about family dynamics, strong female leads, and well-developed characters, then this drama is definitely for you!"

Low on expectations!

First i had to paused and then get back to finish this drama.

The multi-leads couple is something that can be tricky, but if well executed can be a frank success.
I stopped watching it the first time because i couldn't understand the 3rd sister and her love interest and till now i don't get how they resolved their conflicts. Like when they got married i was looking for a clear explanation of what happened but nada...
Then the 5th sister, jeez what a brat, didn't like her one bit. You know sometimes people grow up, peolple learn, yet she didn't and the drama make it seemed like it was normal. I really disliked her character.

The only love story here that i liked was the 4th 'sister , that was a beautiful one.

And yes too much fillers, like people were use for the purpose of making the couples come together. Like in 2025 are we still having this kind of script writers!?? come on! (exple 3 sister mother in law, after the wedding she dissapeared, would have interesting to see the interactions after the wedding with the daugther-in -law, but yes we are asking too much)

I manage to finish it, but i wouldn't recommend, 7/10 for me.

"Perfect Match" (2025) is a Chinese period romantic comedy drama historical series based on Madam Li's quest to find perfect husbands for her five daughters during the Northern Song Dynasty. The series is praised for its even balance of humor and tear-jerking moments, and it employs satire to make satirical comments regarding the norms and gender expectations of the period.

Each of the daughters' plots is carefully constructed, and they are built around different personalities and relationships. Le Shan, the youngest daughter, and Yang Xian, her match, have been at the center of attention with fans. Theirs is a particularly interesting dynamic, with Le Shan's firebrand personality pushing the traditional boundaries of her position, and Yang Xian's personality evolving due to their relationship.

Personally, I am disappointed with the series ending, it felt hurried and that a number of questions had not been answered. More specifically, I argued that Le Shan and Yang Xian's story arc conclusion was hurried and left them wanting more.

Since the big following and fanfare for Le Shan and Yang Xian's relationship, hopes for a special episode or something else to cap their story arc off in a better manner remain with fans. At the time of writing, no such episode has been officially announced.

In short, "Perfect Match" offers a lovely plunge into love, family, and societal norms, and each pair's story arc provides a fresh perspective. Although the series is good at storytelling and character development, the end may have viewers wanting fuller conclusions, particularly for Le Shan and Yang Xian's relationship.

2025 just started and we already have a winner!

I thought I couldn't get past Long Ballad, but this drama? This drama blew my mind! Just Wow! The title, the story, the plot, the characters were all excellent! Every match was indeed a perfect match! All six girls were the perfect match for all their husbands and their husbands' families. The families all got the daughter-in-law they deserved!😅. And their Mom? I know it's a movie but God bless that woman! Kudos to the makers of this movie for choosing the perfect match for each and every character in this movie!
This movie just reinforced the idea I've always had that as a woman I can do & be anything.
If you're still contemplating about this movie, I'm here to tell you you're wasting precious time! Go ahead and you'd never regret it😄

Definitely a satisfying ending! Some might say the ending is too good to be true but if I want a realistic story I'll just go to work and live my daily life.
The men are handsome and tsundere in their beginning and the women are beautiful and strong. My favourite is the youngest one who appears bratty and all brawn but turns out to be a good strategy master too when it's her story arch. Mother is awesome too.

Everyone grows to be mature including the youngest son in law. The sisterhood is sisterhooding. The sons-in-law are bonded, especially the first three; they go to each other when they want to cry 🤣. Too bad we don't get to see much interaction between the brother and the sons-in-law, that would be just too perfect.

Every sister’s story is worth the watch ❤️

I encourage you to watch Perfect Match. It deserves more hype!

My absolute favorite is Chai An and Kangning, the chemistry is overflowing that you can see it through their eyes..

Ofcourse, Scholar Du is a sore to the eyes because he is so dashing ughhhh 😭😭

Got super entertained with Li Leshan’s story, my favorite part is the lion dance.

Overall, every episode is worth it. I would personally like for Qiongnu to have more screen time with Mr. She cause she deserves it.

I enjoyed every single episode and I will definitely rewatch it! 👍🏼
