Marriage is a work in progress for both partners

A story of the Li family to find a husband for the five daughters, who have different and distinct characters.

This story shows that a marriage will not always be perfect. They must understand both their strengths and weaknesses to make it work. Each daughter got a set of stories, and little by little both the wife and husband, especially the husband, learned to adjust to their hard-to-crack wives.

I love the son-in-law alliance. Despite their constant betrayal, they manage to help each other make amends with their wives and lead peaceful lives.
The sisters were definitely sticking to each other through ups and downs. What a wonderful opportunity to see how the family united, especially in the hardest part of life.

A big applause to Madam Li. This story shows what a mother can sacrifice for her children. She is tough but very soft with her daughters. Such behavior shows that whatever happens, children will always count on their mother.

Definitely my favorite story was the fourth daughter, Haode, and Shen Hui Zao. Their story is refreshing, where both of them were honest and took a stand for their values.

Overall, this is wonderful to watch. What a wonderful set of stories in one drama.

If you enjoy heartfelt stories with family warmth and diverse romances, this is worth watching.

For me, this drama was entertaining and a nice one!. While the first few episodes didn’t immediately hook me, I became deeply invested as the story progressed. With 36 episodes, this drama managed to keep things fresh and engaging, almost like a collection of mini-dramas. One of the most compelling aspects of this drama was the different love stories centered around the five sisters. Each sister had a unique journey to finding their perfect match. Let's rank the couples ( obviously based on my thoughts!😁)

Fourth Sister’s Couple: The most compelling and emotionally rich romance. Their chemistry was natural, and their story had the perfect blend of drama and warmth. I loved how they managed to communicate with each other and solve probable misunderstandings.

First Sister’s Couple: A mature and well-developed relationship. Their journey felt realistic and touching, making them one of the strongest pairs. Though she had some unnecessary concerns, her partner did a good job here!

Fifth Sister’s Couple: Enjoyable with a charming dynamic, though their arc lacked the depth but still enjoyed..

Second Sister’s Couple: A minor subplot with little screen time. Not impactful.

Third Sister’s Couple: The first 6-7 episodes focused on them, and honestly, I didn’t enjoy their arc much. Their chemistry didn’t draw me in, making the beginning of the drama feel slow and slightly off-putting.

The mother was a standout—brave and unconditionally supportive. The strong sisterly bond added emotional depth beyond romance. Though slow at first, the drama became so engaging that I finished it in just three days! If you enjoy heartfelt stories with family warmth and diverse romances, this is worth watching.

The drama does a very good job with showing the different sister's love life and how they eventually get married. It focuses on every sister for about 6-7 episodes and it's pretty good. I'm more used to watching a whole drama solely based on two main leads and I kinda prefer it that way.

Personally the 3rd sister and the first sister's marriage was a little boring. My favorite was probably the 4th sister's. But the 5th sisters' marriage was probably the most entertaining to watch. The drama is naturally funny, and I loved the mom. She's super funny and it makes the show so halirious.

The only issue I had with watching this show, was some of the scenes were really boring and then you thought that one of the sister's story was over, but really it's not. So it felt like it took forever to watch the show even though it more of a "shorter" drama since it only have 36 episodes.

"Bridgerton" ala chinese

PLOT: Mother Li arrives in the capital with her 4 unmarried daughters (the eldest is a young widow), to join her 5th married daughter. They decide to start a business to make a living. The girls will find suitable husbands (different approaches and personalities) after overcoming all kinds of difficulties.

+++ “Bridgerton” in a Chinese style, with the successive romances of the 5 women of this family (entirely girls, this time :)
+++ A bunch of great actors (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)
+++ Good balance of emotions, mystery/investigation, humor, romance.
+++ Dynamic production, fairly coherent storyline.
+++ Excellent OST and sound animations.

### Some CLs are more endearing than others: The youngest girl's character is excessive, for example.
### The repetitive arcs create some lenghts ... And after a couple ties the knot/gets married, we no longer have any news about their married life. :(

=> Good romantic and family series
*******************************************************************************

+++ A bunch of great actors (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Good show! Just be aware it doesn't focus on just 1 main characters, it's the sister's that focuses on how they can overcome their challenges and dealing with bad in a laws or whatever. I'm not going to lie, it did took me awhile to get used to this, but overall it's good. I've cried on so many parts and felt their pain because I used to delt with this, but not anymore! Great actors! 👏

Romances of 5 daughters

==Breakdown==
Background plot - 30%
Romance - 40%
Misc comedy - 30%

Background plot - fine
Romantic chemistry - it varied from AMAZING to *meh*
Misc comedy - fine
Production value - fine

I dropped this one in the middle of the last daughter's story since I was no longer enjoying the show (and life is to short to be a completist).

Couples ranked in terms of chemistry and story:
Third daughter / 1st story: EXCELLENT story and chemistry-- these two characters and actors really sold their romance and chemistry.
Fourth daughter / 3rd story: Good story, great chemistry-- the chemistry between the actors saved the story.
First daughter / 2nd story: Okay story, good chemistry-- the female lead was much, much stronger than the male lead. She was awesome and he was mid. I definitely think he was miscast and the weakest of the leads.
Fifth daughter / last story: Redundant story, abysmal chemistry-- the actors were fine, but maybe the female lead was too young (IRL) to be playing this role. It's like she didn't know how to have romantic chemistry with anyone.

Overall story was fine. I won't re-watch, but I enjoyed watching it up to episode 29 or so.

Almost is just not enough.

I feel like because the casts were so grand, it pulled through but it definitely could have been more intense, interesting and deep. My main thoughts are:

It’s different from your standard Chinese dramas where you normally follow the story of a main couple that deepens as the plot develop. This drama is more like five short stories compressed into the limited episodes (which isn’t a bad idea). But for this particular work the stories didn’t connect smoothly for me. Each sub story could have been more intertwined and contribute to a bigger purpose than one big happy family.

While there are five sub stories, I felt like most of the stories focused on characters who didn’t agree to the marriage and then eventually work it out - a bit repetitive, different but same same you know. There could’ve been a couple that both agreed to the marriage out of genuine love, but they discover something that forces them apart, or if there was a bigger plot behind this, one of the sister’s could’ve got married for a strategic reason to investigate/avenge, only to actually fall in love with the guy.

Casting was almost, strong emphasis on the ‘ALMOST’, fantastic. The letdown was casting Zhao Qing as Chun Lai, she had main character vibes and did not suit the role of the maid at all. In the scenes she was in, I felt like she outshined some of the sisters. Tian Tian presented a great job as the youngest sister, but I felt like Zhao Qing was more suited for this role than the maid role.

Nevertheless, I am wishing for the each couple to have a happy and warm life.

A wholesome family historical drama that tests the strength of familial bonds

Story: I think what really made the story touching was the difficulties faced by Mother Li all contributed to her future success. She had been ridiculed and quite literally exiled from her own home and had to fend for her children and herself. The thing that really touched me was the way she looked so happy and content at the end of the drama when she realized she had accomplished her life goal of providing a good life for her children.

I’m going to split the drama up into 4 main parts: 3rd daughter, 1st daughter, 4th daughter, and 5th daughter’s story

3rd daughter’s story: I think this story was definitely the one I was most looking forward to. I was expecting Perfect Match to mainly talk about the 3rd daughter and her husband’s story, but I was sort of disappointed. They marketed the cdrama as Lu Yuxiao and Wang Xingyue being the male and female lead, but they only had 10 episodes of real solid screen time. Their story was so short compared to the others. It was honestly quite disappointing to not see enough of their collaboration as I was looking forward to it. They had so much chemistry, I just wanted more of it.

1st daughter’s story: This part of the cdrama was arguably my least favorite one. I think the eldest daughter did not deserve all that drama. She’s the most caring and smart sister in my opinion, yet she doesn’t speak out enough when it comes to her own marriage. I initially thought she and her husband were really not very fit for each other. He was so cold and rude to her and always expected her to fix his problems and apologize to him. He was sort of useless at the beginning, but it sort of got better. Also, when he called her “姐姐” (sister) to suck up to her, I was literally getting the ick. I know their story still ended up ok, but it was unnecessarily long and dragged out. Honestly the directors could have allocated more time to the 3rd sister’s story. Also, the backstory of Yuan Ming (1st daughter’s husband) was sort of forced and super random. I don’t think it contributed much to the plot.

4th daughter’s story: This was my favorite arc, surprisingly, after the disappointment of the short 3rd daughter story. I think their story was thought out and was really attractive. It was very easy for me to get hooked on their romance. No complaints.

5th daughter’s story: This part also wasn’t too bad. I think some parts of the Yang family’s issues were sort of messy, but it still managed to get the point across. I do agree that Yang Xian (5th daughter’s husband) didn’t really do enough to convey his absolute love and affection for the 5th daughter after he literally ditched her for 3 years. I mean I know it was for a good cause, but he could have begged more for forgiveness. Also, Yang Xian did not do enough for his wife to help her solve his family’s case. It literally pertained to him, but he just sat there with his broken leg. He could have at least sent some people out to help her.

Overall, the story wasn’t too bad. I was just so, so disappointed the male and female leads didn’t get enough screen time. I honestly don’t think you can say there was a female or male lead for this cdrama because the structure of it is different. They split the story up into different parts for each couple, so neither one got too much screen time. I do think the eldest daughter’s story was too long though.

cast/acting:

Lu Yuxiao: I’m really glad she’s getting more and more lead roles in cdramas, although you can’t really say she was the female lead in Perfect Match. I don’t think her acting was noticeably bad or noticeably good in Perfect Match because it is a light and wholesome cdrama. It didn’t really test her acting, but I’m excited for her future projects!

Wang Xingyue: Again, I was sad he and Lu Yuxiao weren’t the center of the story but oh well. I think Wang Xingyue needs to take on some more challenging acting jobs. I saw him in the Double, and I had such high expectations for him. I think he really has a lot of potential for good and challenging roles, so we’ll see.

Liang Yong Qi: I saw him act the bad ex-husband in the Double, so I was super surprised when I noticed he was also going to be in the Perfect Match with Wang Xingyue. Originally, I didn’t have high hopes for him because I kind of hated him from his previous role as a villain; however, I was pleasantly surprised by his adaptability to his role in Perfect Match. It was really cute to see him be such a kind and caring person when it came to the 4th daughter.

I did notice some interesting cameos such as Li Yunrui as the Li Father and Zeng Shunxi as the Emperor. Funny casting, but it worked out I guess.

Themes: there were a lot of really good themes in Perfect Match that really tugged at my heartstrings and made me feel happy inside.

Familial bonds: From the beginning of the story when the Li family was alone and hopeless to the end when every sister had found their “perfect match”, this cdrama is full of the power of family. Mother Li is really the backbone of the entire family, bringing them together and keeping them safe all the time. She deserved so much and her resilience helped her be blessed with 5 amazing son-in-laws. Also, I think the brotherhood in the son-in-law club is hilarious and touching. They’re always either reporting back to their wives or secretly aiding them in their efforts to solve problems.

Gender stereotypes: I think all 6 of Li family’s daughters all fought against the gender stereotypes at the time. Each daughter was brought up to be resilient and intelligent in the face of an opponent, and that really shined through. They all had their strong suits and worked together to solve problems, no matter how tough.

Overall: Although the story had some disappointments and slow areas, I think overall Perfect Match is a warm and wholesome cdrama you should definitely watch when you feel down. The progression of the Li family from having zero to everything is truly what makes Perfect Match perfect. I rate it a 9.5/10

Bingwatchable

I binge-watched a captivating series that follows the ups and downs of a mother navigating the challenges of raising five daughters, all while on a mission to find them suitable husbands. This show is an absolute gem, providing a perfect blend of humor, heartache, and heartfelt moments that make it thoroughly entertaining from start to finish.
With a total of 36 episodes, I can confidently say that not a single one was boring. Each episode dives deep into the individual stories of the daughters, showcasing their unique personalities and the rollercoaster of experiences they encounter in their quest for love. The narrative flows seamlessly, making it easy to get invested in each character's journey.
Visually, the series is stunning. The costumes are beautifully crafted, and the makeup, adorned with pearls, adds an elegant touch that complements the overall aesthetic. Every detail contributes to the charm of the show, immersing viewers in its delightful world.
What truly stands out are the characters themselves. Each main character is portrayed as wholesome and realistic, making it easy for viewers to relate to their struggles and triumphs. The acting is commendable, with each cast member delivering a performance that feels genuine and heartfelt.
The original soundtrack (OST) perfectly complements the storyline, enhancing emotional moments and uplifting scenes alike.
In short, this series is not just a one-time watch; it’s incredibly rewatchable! With its rich storytelling, relatable characters, and beautiful production, it has quickly become one of my favorites. Whether you’re in the mood for laughter or a good cry, this show delivers it all!

This deserves a higher rating

This series deserves a higher rating. I simply think an 8.4 does it no justice. I can confidently say it is one of my best cdramas since I started watching them and mind you they are a lot. I was bit skeptical at first because of the multiple leads and the storyline but it completely wowed me right from the first episode.
Madam Li has five daughters and a son and I liked that all five daughters has their own strength. They didnt allow themselves to be bullied by anyone. Madam Li was an action woman who would do anything to protect her daughters and wanted to see them wed safely.
My best was the third daughter's marraige which began the story. I liked that kangning was amart and knew how to fight for what she wanted. She was clever and witful and I loved the way Chai an and kangning schemed against each other until they fell in love.
For each otf the daughters, I could predict their lovers apart from the fifth daughter Le shan. I seriously wanna give her praise for her acting. She might be the youngest but she is the strongest. Cross her family and you wont leave unscathed.
The story was more interesting than I thought and I think giving it an 8.9 is a match. I seriously recommend this series, the comedy and romance, there was a good blend of everything. Kudos to the director...

The Harmoniously Chaotic Li Household | The Ultimate formula in producing a Family Drama.

This is how you make a family drama!

This is the story which directors and writers should start using as a reference guide in creating Family dramas. It was flawless from the very beginning until the end. No plot twist left untouched and no main and lead cast (out of 12 combined, mind you) left behind.

This drama surprised me for how magnificent they are in utilizing each and every scene and cuts to their full advantage. I was even worried that they may not be able to cater every Li daughters love story (and if ever they did, it might be half-assed) but god was I wrong. They just didn't simply executed it with perfection but even added extra stuff such as flashback, timeskips, cool-off period, brother-in-law and/or Li sisters alliance antics and more. Not to mention how they decided to suddenly pull off that Li Son (She Cong) coming back to the story as the final pairing for their adoptive sister (Qiong Nu) during the last 2 episodes of the drama—that part still give me the feels even just by thinking about it. I almost give up hope for Qiong Nu because of how little the remaining episodes are but they still managed to squeeze her story in, make full use of their childhood bethrothal plot and give the story one last dramatic scene before it finally concludes.

The people of this production are the masters of resourcefulness and meticulousness. I am honestly out of words for how amazing and dedicated the production team of this drama are. I feel like aside from the actors/actresses they are those people who should be receiving all the high praises and love calls for how splendid they carried out this drama with precision until the very end.

I also want to commend this story for keeping its values and morals straight no matter how tough life can get. This is in relation to the fact that although this story is focused on marrying off every daughter of the Li household to successful men, they (Li Matriarch and Li Daughters) also made sure to stand up and fight for women's rights, well-being and reputation whenever they needed to. I love that they never condone behaviours that could harm anyone of them and if they have to tolerate, they will ensure that it won't reach the point where it could harm them beyond salvation; and if ever they reached that point, they will always make sure to fightback and counter attack as a defense mechanism and payoff for the injustice they had to go through. I wish that every women on this world can be like them...women who knows their worth and will never settle for less and any kind of unfair treatments and injustices.

In addition to the above, I appreciate that this drama promoted and highlighted monogamy. I really admire them for making the one (1) wife policy as one of the main condition for them to get married. I know that it wasn't like that for all the Li daughters marriage at first but I am glad that it was an idea they have firm stand on, and that no one from the Husbands dared to actually take a concubine (Geez! 2nd brother-in-law) as I don't think I would appreciate the story this much if someone actually broke that rule.

"With or without dowries we willl find good matches."

This also made me recall of this line said by someone from the Li daughters—That they value righteous men and would even marry someone poor but upstanding and hardworking if they have to. The underlying painstaking of women back in the days are truly heartbreaking. I'm really glad it wasn't like that anymore in this era.

I honestly wanted to talk about each one of the couples but I am afraid it will take me lofty pharagraphs to make me feel satisfied so I will just make a short description of what I like and admire about each one of them. HIHI! I mean, they all deserved it!

1st Couple (Li Shou Hua & Du Yang Xi) - This is a couple I was most worried the most because this is Shou Hua's 2nd marriage and I don't know how it will be carried out so thank heavens that they chose someone who appreciates her and is willing to look past her previous marriage (mature and broad-minded). I was even more surprised that Shou Hua's the one who had hang-ups...Like, Girl!!! You got no time for that, no men will understand and tolerate anyone who keeps on dwelling in the past.

2nd Couple (Li Fu Hui & Fan Liang Han) - The couple who pioneered and introduced us to this story. Something I wanna say is that I am happy that we don't have to deal with any other stupid antics of Fan Liang Han. He was indeed cute but his ignorance and inabiility to discern and read the situation infuriates me. Hahaha! So TYSM for making them the 1st couple to be introduced to this story because what's left for us to see about them for the succeeding episodes are their funny and adorable moments. They even gave us the 1st grandchildren of the Li Family. <3.

3rd Couple (Li Kang Ning & Chai An) - Our main golden couple. We all know and do agree about this, right? The moment I saw Wang Xi Yue on the cast, I knew for sure he's the main lead. But more than that, what I really like about the story of this couple is that even when they have the most number of screen time for this drama, it still feels like it was equally distributed and was just right. Maybe because their story built the foundation of this drama so it all comes out naturally but I still feels like it's because their story wasn't dragged out just to keep them on screen. Instead they have them appear everytime they can and have a chance to do so.

4th Couple (Li Hao De & Shen Hui Zhao) - The couple I didn't feel right at first but gradually grew on me because of their progress as individuals. The biggest challenge for this couple is not just their age gap but also SHZs stubborness. Li Hao De was to young and I know for sure that it would be tough for her to deal with Shen Hui Zhao so giving them the amnesia trope actually allowed her to introduce herself to SHZ and make him get to know her as a person. This also enabled SHZ to loosen up a bit that made him see a much broader horizon as he was not bothered by his guilt and emotional baggages for quite some time. A peculiar pairing I never thought would work but worked out perfectly anyways.

5th Couple (Li Le Shan & Yang Xian) - The Tom & Jerry of this show and the pairing I am attached to the most. As a Winwin (Dong Si Cheng) Fan since his debut in korea I feel extremely proud, amazed and stunned on how good his performance is in this drama. My cute little chick in a blink of an eye has became such a great actor who was able to carry himself up to be on the same level as the actors/actresses he's working with. It feels like I am watching a different version of him—a more mature and suave one in comparison to the sweet, adorable and timid one I used to know. My baby surely has grown so much throughout the years and this is a testament of that. So glad that he was able to portray and execute this character flawlessly while having the right amount of chemisty and synergy with Huangyang Tian Tian.

Last but definitely NOT the least is the Brother's-in-Law alliance. Isn't this the cutest most adorable alliance ever made? I find it extra entertaining watching them expand each time someone marries a Li daughter and meet everytime they're having problem with their wives. It was such a bliss to watch them gain members from only having Fan Liang Han & Chai An then forcefully recruites the other Brother's-in-law—Du Yang Xi to Shen Hui Zhao and finally, Yang Xian. Hahaha! I find it cute and admirable to see these established and capable men bend and concede to their wives not because they're afraid of them but because they're afraid to lose them. It's also funny how each one of them got these underdog redemption phase they all go through after almost losing their wives; so it has become a thing for them to value and understand their spouses to the point where they've built this alliance to help one another.

Story - 10, This drama is exploding with positivity and togetherness that you can't help but love them as the story progresses. Great narrative overall and this should be the new blueprint of making good and entertaining family drama. Extremely entertaining to watch.

Acting/Cast - 10, They've seriously casted such amazing artists who fits their roles very well. I love each one of them and it's really nice to see them all act together. They must have had fun filming their scenes together as the synergy feels great and is overflowing with positivity and glee.

Music - 10, The songs used for this drama are all good. It feels nice to hear them accompany each scenes they're used to and most of them are slow ballads, so that's a plus point for me as well.

Rewatch Value - 10, A highly recommendable drama. I honestly could've finished it within 2½ days but I have a work to attend to reason why it took longer.

Overall - 10, Is this even a question at this point? This is my new #1 most favorite chinese family drama overtaking "New Life Begins". Everything about this drama is a perfection to me that I would not mind watching it again after finishing it. Hahaha!
