Perfect Match did a great job of showing the bonds between the Li family as well as throwing in comedic moments. I loved seeing how much they loved each other, if someone had a problem all the other sisters would meet up to try and help. The bonds between the sisters was the main reason I wanted to watch and why I continued to watch. Also loved how conflicts were quickly resolved it(In any other show all those relatives coming to steal the Li's assets would've dragged out for way too long.) helped me not feel as irritated with the villains and kept the show interesting. Kangning's arc started off interesting but I quickly got tired of the back and forth. I felt like Shuohua's arc had a lot of potential that was wasted. I wish they explored more of Shuohua's character in her ways of expressing love. What I mean is that she feels different from her sisters in her relationship because of how closed off she feels. She cares about Yangxi but there's also a wall whether it be her past marriage and how much she cared for him or being the eldest daughter and feeling a responsibility to her mothers and sisters after her father's death. Leshan's arc was fun (sometimes that annoying character just needs to be beaten up no need to spend 10 eps thinking of a way to get payback) but the scheming and annoying in laws got irritating fast. I thought the relationship between her and Yang Xian was cute, glad she found someone that loved her fighting spirit instead of being with someone that she had to bite her tongue around.
Haode's arc felt like it had a darker tone than the rest of the show but that's probably just the nature of having to constantly be around the justice system. The writing for the relationship between her and Huizhao was very sweet and felt a lot more balanced than the other relationships (Fuhui, Kangning, and Shouhua are all calling the shots in their marriages). I also liked how the arc utilized Leshan because before this both Haode and Leshan were kind of just in the background. There's feels like the three oldest sisters are closer to each other while the two youngest are closer to each other (probably because everyone wanted to shield them from the reality of their situation and allowed them to run around and play).
A weak part of Perfect Match was showing the passage of time. I knew time was going by but it was hard to know how much time was going by unless it was explicitly shown. All the characters looked the exact same throughout the show and the only change in style they had was when they got married. But overall the show was enjoyable. The bond between the sisters was my favorite.

Feisty females
June 2025Overall a decent watch and I liked the cast; Wang Xing Yue and Liang Yong Qi are actors I like.
The fact this centres around a widowed woman who has single-handedly, and pretty successfully, raised 5 daughters, is already a bit different.
On relocating home, due to adversities, they arrive in the town where one already married daughter lives. The in-laws look down on all of them.
Once settled, the mother's sole purpose is to make money, provide doweries for her girls, and get them married off to as wealthy/successful/up-and-coming men, as possible. This is basically the drama's plot, with all the adventures, adversities, and comedy, built around it.
They open an establishment that goes through several incarnations, until becoming a kind of tea/snacks house come gift shop and meeting place, for want of a better explanation.
The episodes focus on their daily life, plus each daughter's story taking centre stage, as the drama progresses. There are challenges, conflicts, drama, crime/investigations, accusations, and in one episode, an attempted sexual assault.
The attitudes of the majority of the women of local wealthy families, to the mother and girls, is mostly unkind and snobbish. It's pretty infuriating, as it's not like the mother chose to be a widow! Family of the departed husband, just wanted her home and possessions. They are ruthless and aggressive, hence the family packing up and leaving.
The earlier episodes see characters more combined, but the latter becomes about the remaining, individual daughters, with several other characters taking a noticeable back seat. I was less keen on that.
It was a pretty fun watch, with every female in the family being resilient, resourceful, intelligent, and with different strengths. However, there were a number of occasions when it dragged on far too much and got very silly.
More than once I found myself disliking the actions of specific daughters; some I thought deserved their partners and others I felt didn't. What was put up with, I suppose, fit with the era; I'm sure there were hen-pecked hubbies even back then, although I'd imagine it was rare and probably dependent on familial power, or possibly just a man being besotted.
A decent filler, rather than one to binge (which I didn't). Not one I'd choose to rewatch, but would if someone hadn't seen it and wanted to watch together.

Light hearted entertainment
because there were so many couples to cover, each couple only had a few episodes worth of content. this made the show fast-paced and entertaining. the transition from one couple to another was also smooth and logical.every couple in the show depicted different types of couples in real life.
1. the older lady / widowed lady with a younger man - this couple challenges social stigma. why did female lead make things so difficult for the male lead? because she rather live a peaceful life than to go through emotional rollercoasters again after losing a loved one.
2. strong wife, weak husband - provides a diff pov on why some wifes are just so fierce... simply because they think their husbands are not strong enough to take care of them, so they must act to ensure life gets better in future
3. rich man, poor woman - eventhough both of them are equally matched intellectually, outsiders (parents included) will always think the poorer side is trying to leach the richer side off
4. girl likes guy first - perseverence will pay off. how many guys can resist a beautiful girl who opens up about liking them first?
5. i hate you at first, but fall in love later kind of relationship - isn't that life? opposites attract
6. the grow up together couple... rare now but used to be the common thing in the past
i liked how the couples reflect the different types of relationships in society and liked how some of them had solid plots in their relationship development despite only having a few episodes of air time.
all in all, an enjoyable watch. ost not strong... at least i dont remember any outstanding songs

Excellent watch
An excellent watch with a nice set of story plots. Narrated / Highlighted Sisterhood at the best.Try not to bring your righteousness against the characters as they have flaws too, but the misunderstandings / flaws are cleared / handled pretty fast / smooth (or took a comedic undertone which compensated the hard plots).
Character Growth!! Yes, it was there for all the 5 male leads, but the characters of the FL were straight up (not much changes) from start to end of the series. 4th sister had some character growth being a weak to being a strong willed lady which was smooth adding to the sharpy smoothness of the story.
You can feel with the First sister couple, enjoy the bickering of the Third Sister couple, like the couple bonding / innocence with the Second sister couple, live the excitement of the adventures through the Fourth sister couple and at last love the kiddish fights / budding fondness of the Fifth siter couple <3
An overall power-packed series without any dull episodes throughout - Enjoyable to the core!!

Perfect Trash
What a colossal waste of talents! The writer and director have managed to turn what could have been a lovely drama into an unbearable mess. By Episode 17, the idiotic script and nonsensical plot twists became too much to endure. It’s heartbreaking to see such talented actors and actresses squandered on this trainwreck of a production. They should rename this drama *Perfect Trash* because it’s anything but a *Perfect Match*.I’m genuinely baffled as to why Netflix chose to feature this when there are countless superior C-dramas out there. This is a disservice to viewers who expect quality and sensical content. Such a disappointing letdown.

A different attempt on a period piece where ML and FL are not involved with the royal family. They are commoners and facing troubles in normal life. This approach makes it unique and fresh. Family disputes and troubles are often presumable, but not boring. And twists are often stirring earbuds.
After Double, this is Xin Yue’s second attempt in becoming a loving and caring husband. Though he is very gorgeous in his roles, he needs to change his style given the same pattern he is doing.
First lady, Second lady, Third Lady, Fourth Lady, Fifth lady are doing brilliant jobs in pulling the story. They are the main factors to keep the waves and tide flow within the tale.
The tale has been knitted neatly. Graphics and visual added the intrigue elevating the interest of audience at right pace.

The first family costume drama i watched
Perfect match is really a perfect matchI rarely watch family drama but Perfect Match exceeded my expectation. There are a lot of romantic dynamic being portrayed here, and I enjoyed them all! Every and each of the daughter got their own time to shine with their partners. Even though I felt like the fourth daughter's story a little bit cliche, but her dyanmic with her husband is the cutest.

Praises to the MOM!!!
Praises to the MOM!!! Raising so many daughters is not easy. Her being hard on them was only for their own good. It's great to have a mom like that. I didn't watch the trailer for this but I know Wang Xingyue work.I thought that the series was based on him and Lu Yuxiao but surprisngly, it was based on all the daughters. So you get a little bit of their lives after getting married. Some are exciting while others are more laid back.
I do realized that after a while, you dont see much of 1st and 3rd sister.
Listen, I am biased because I wanted to see more about the 3rd sister and her husband.
***SPOILER*** They didn't even show or talked about when she was pregnant. They only mentioned "kids" in the last episode so we can only assume it happened in that 3yrs.
But, I believe the writer did good to keep us entertained with their lives so we didn't get bored.
Overall, it was a decent watch!!!! They all found their perfect match

Battles of the Sexes: Ancient Marriage Edition
This drama is half family drama, half romantic comedy, with an overarching question intertwined throughout all the storylines: Who is more important: man or woman? Son or daughter, husband or wife, father or mother? The premise: The Li family, without a male figure in their family (a dead father and a long-lost brother) escapes their money-hungry relatives to the capital to start anew. The protective and sometimes brash mother seeks good matches for her four daughters (a fifth one is already married) and adopted daughter while trying to make a living and make enough money to provide dowries for the daughters. The sisters and mother stand strong together in the face of trouble and danger, navigating out of different schemes to a peaceful and happy end.
With this kind of story and setup, the story heavily emphasizes on the sisterhood and mother-daughters bond, supporting each other fiercely. Because the father died when they were fairly young, they have faced all kinds of misogynistic, societal, and hierarchal problems, and know they must sometimes trick people. It's not always nice, but it's a method of surviving and gaining a better hand. It's also a way to get justice and revenge for their family because they sometimes can't fight people outright due to their low status and identity.
IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THE POINT ABOVE, then I think you will enjoy this drama because you are sympathetic towards the Li family. And you can understand why the Li sisters (and mother) take certain actions or behave in certain ways toward the male leads.
IF YOU ARE THE TYPE OF PERSON TO "PITY" THE MALE LEADS for any little wrong thing that happens to them, then I don't recommend this drama for you. The female leads often have to take certain actions or make certain plans that aren't beneficial to the male leads. Especially since the male leads are mainly all leads who have a certain high regard/reputation or high status (noble or royal, typically), and they are men in a patriarchal society, so the odds are always in the men's favor. My advice? Don't feel (too) bad for them. They get humiliated at times, but their reputation won't be completely destroyed the way it would for women. Also, they aren't helpless. Because they're smart, they know how to scheme as well in subtle ways to protect their pride, too. So don't feel (too) bad for them because they will always end up fine.
A few warnings and reminders:
-This is ancient times, where physical abuse is tolerated and even expected if an elder needs to discipline a younger person or a wife needs to be rough with a husband to get him under control. So, expect that a certain level of physical punishment is okay in this time.
-The men WILL do some annoying schemes in the beginning of the drama--especially in a few of the couples' storylines. Be prepared to be baffled and annoyed, but if you can get through that, the latter relationships are quite enjoyable!
-The men on this show will say one thing, but do another. This drama shows the complex layers of marriage life and of men and women. Men, in public or in front of other men, will put up a front and try to be all tough. But men in private will not be quite so.
Overall, watch it if you support women's rights (and wrongs). Don't watch it if you're a men's rights activist. (JOKING. But also, I'm half serious.)

Cn ver of bridgerton, but slightly more chaotic
A wholesome watch, I loved the family dynamics, the sisters (Shou Hua loml). The alliance between the brother in laws was my favorite. I loved everyone of the actors/actresses and am keeping an eye out for their other projects. While it did have its flaws, I loved it.A definite rewatch.Something I would like to note, in regards to certain things that deterred people from this drama.
Misogynistic Male leads:
Honestly, yes in the start most of them are misogynistic (some more so than others) but that is a part of the point because after meeting their respective partners all of them went through decent character development. They have flaws but they learn and become better partners. Its actually progressive.
Some pills were tough to swallow to be honest like YangXian but he does go through character developement...
My Favorite couples/storylines
1. Haode/Huizhao AND Shou Hua/Yanxi (both of them had me in a chokehold so they tied)
Shou Hua and Yanxi might be controversial, Yanxi was an idiot in the beginning but he went through a lot of character growth and become one of my faves. He was so adorable, the scenes where he tried to grovel were my favorite.
Huizhao was best boi no other words needed to be said. Would watch the drama a 100 times just because of Huizhao and Shou Hua
2. Leshan/Yangxian
Despite Yangxian being a tough pill to swallow watching leshan beat the shit out of him made me very happy. The scenes between him and Madam Li stole my heart. The found family dynamic they had 33 I would have felt better if they showed his struggles during the 3 years.
3. Kangning/Chai An
They were fun to watch but didnt leave that much of an impression on me tbh. The scheming aspect was fun.
last Fu Hui and her husband
Her husband was a huge loser and definitely shot my blood pressure at the start but he becomes more like phil from modern family. His idiotic antics were fun to watch later on tho

5 dramas in one
I really love this concept of having multiple main couples. It was like watching 5 different dramas in one relatively short c-drama with all the tropes and feels of any regular show. Each couple had their own struggles before rly finding each other and while at times the misunderstandings were beyond annoying, I appreciated how the conflicts always got solved and didn't last forever like in some other shows. The show has its flaws, but it really shines when it comes to the character and cast. The mom was my favorite part of the show. She was absolutely hilarious throughout and held such compassion for all her son-in-laws except for when they did her daughters dirty. She is such a mama bear cuz even when she was afraid after her husband just died and people where taking everything from her family, she learned how to stand up for herself and her family and since then, she did not take no bs. Even when people called her crude, shameless, or vulgar she did not care as long as she was protecting her daughters. She raised all them on her own with such strong principles, she never wanted them to settle for anything less than what they deserved and that is why all her daughter had such successful marriages(eventually😂). The actress for this character was SOO freaking talented. Her comedic timing and facial expressions rly made any scene she was in. Missing Madam Li terribly and hoping to see her in more dramas
The reason I even started this drama was because I loved Lu Yu Xiao in Blossoms of Adversity(which i totally recommend if u haven't watched already), and Wang Xing Yue is fine shyt. Their relationship was a great start to the show, always bickering like a married couple even before getting married. It gave enemies-to-lovers with both plotting on each other's demise. I love kang ning for standing up for her family and not marrying Chai An when his mom was being so disrespectful. Loved seeing the mother beg for kang ning to marry her son afterwards. I enjoyed seeing their domestic life throughout the drama, and their scheming antics being used to protect the li family.
Now the most trifling couple in this show was du yangxi and shouhua cuz he treated my girl so badly so many times. They get married he ignores her and when he finally realizes his wife is a baddie(duh she's from the li family), he starts being jealous of her DEAD ex-husband like bro ur so corny. He had the nerve to be like "i could never kneel to my wife" and then ended up kneeling to gain her favor but after doing all that to make her love and trust him, he divorced her in the most embarrassing and degrading way ever. This girl has asked nothing of him but to stay by her side and he couldn't even do that. I guess his redemption arc was fine but my Shouhua was too good a wife to be treated like that, she wasn't even as hostile as her sisters and he still treated her like that, I can only thank God he now treats her like the Queen she has always been. Anyway, loved HeYi in The Princess Royal and was so hyped to see him paired with Liu Xie Ning(loved her in Story of Kunning Palace).
Now my favorite couple was haode and shen hui cuz their chemistry was unmatched. I was skeptical at first because when Shen hui was advocating for the death of yangxi I rly wasn't fcking with him, he also just looked weird a majority of the time. Idk if it was just me but he looked like a robot and his eyes were always bulging out and it was so weird cuz he's good looking when I see photos of him but in the show he just looked off for some reason. Anyway, this ship was the cutest. The amnesia plot didn't bother me at all(shockingly) because haode told him the truth immediately. She is an absolute cutie, no wonder shen hui couldn't resist falling for her. I loved how she made him a more empathetic person. They were so perfect together and I need to see them in a modern drama together.
While haode and shen hui were my favorite couple, leshan was my favorite sister and her relationship was very entertaining to watch. Yang xian can actually go to hell tho. Cuz what did u think would happen when you did that on her WEDDING DAY!! Also, people praising him for saving haode and the rest doesn't sit right with me especially since my girl had to beg before he even considered going to save them. All the male leads did things that made it hard for the audience to forgive them but yang xian was genuinely so hard to forgive cuz he was genuinely evil. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him get beat up by leshan. So glad she didn't change her violent ways once she got married and started falling for him cuz it was refreshing to see a woman in a historical drama that shamelessly demanded respect in that way. I appreciated how she was given the power to punish the yang family even beating her elders into submission(queen sh*t fr). Anyway, I was glad to see their happy ending, they were rly enemies-to-lovers. Tian Tian did such a good job in this role I was beyond shocked to find out she was a minor. SO glad they didn't make her be intimate with her significantly older co-star
Lastly, I appreciated them completing Qiong Nu's story and giving her a love interest. Her story as the adopted daughter was sad but I could understand both sides. Madam Li did treat her as a daughter but it was hard to forget her son whenever she looked at Qiong Nu and at the end of the day she is already doing her a favor by adopting her on top of having to raise 5 daughters on her own. I also empathize with Qiong Nu being abandoned by her family, losing her betrothed, and feeling left out as the adopted daughter. I'm glad they were able to actually talk it out together.
Overall, I loved all the character and all the ships. I could see why people found it hard to watch, the male leads were mad toxic. But I don't agree with people saying the wives were being abusive, they never beat their husbands without ample reason(cheating, lying, scheming). Fu Hui was being disrespected in her own home by her husband, she was 100% justified in beating his ahh. Now he is the obedient husband to a beautiful wife. I deeply respected the girls telling their mans they will not be allowed to get a concubine unless the wife is unable to conceive by the age of 40 which is impossible since their family is so fertile. That is actually so iconic. Also I was shocked to find out 3 members of the main cast were in kpop groups. Wdym fuhui was in WJSN, Shouhua was in gugudan(with god sejeong), and yang xian is in NCT. Like how did I not know any of this till now. Anyway, while imperfect, this show was so great, totally recommend.

starts out boring, Once you move past that the drama ends up being interesting
it took me so long to move past ep 7 or 8 . I actually watched 2 drama's in between and was so close to dropping the drama. but somehow went forward with it.I binged watched the rest of the drama in like 3 days.it's a lovely drama showcasing the different personalities of the daughters and their significant others and all the trouble the face to become who they are. It is very funny to see some parts in the drama. The drama in a whole has all the genres except horror. there's a bit of thriller, bit of mystery, bit of comedy and lots of love
