The Love Child of AofL,L&R a LBF&D!
This is the love child of Ashes of Love, Love & Redemption and Love Between Fairy & Devil - well, at the very least a cross between them all.I actually do like all of the drama series mentioned above and although this one isn't perfect and has its flaws I've been able to watch 17 episodes in a row without a break - despite not being a fan of romance or rom-com.
The episodes are only like 30 or so minutes long and it seems there are only 24 rather than 49 or more. Must be a first!
Some may get frustrated as to why a certain somebody doesn't kill the night deity given half the chance (early on) or who in their right mind chooses to live lifetime after lifetime only to relive the same dismal fate, but that is what makes the story just that bit more interesting as it all unfolds - the history and background.
I don't think this will ever be quite as popular as Love Between Fairy and Devil or Ashes of Love, but at least this one doesn't have that annoying immature baby girl voice for the female lead throughout the whole series that must irritate most - no end. That is a plus in my books!
Recommend this one if you want something light hearted yet not so light hearted.

The Definition of "Tolerable"
With a mix of multiple tropes from various big name Xianxia-type shows, this show manages to be "watchable".There are absolutely periods of time where the level of investment was higher but then the story would shift focus again and go in another direction. If there were anything positive to say about doing this with so many IP homages, it's that there was a level of not 'quite' knowing where the story would go next in a definite sense.
Watching this with bullet comments enabled does add a level of humor to the show as people who have already watched point out JUST how wet and/or greasy the MLs wig looks, and JUST how much the script reminds them of a Wattspad fanfiction written by a teenager.
The acting goes from not bad and actually sort of good, to 'Please close your mouth when you're not talking'. Personally I found the chemistry lacking for much of the show until the last life.
By and large I felt little with each life's death as it was a "rinse and repeat" story plotline delivered with no emotional buildup. If you know that the cycle repeats, basically per episode at one point, why should the audience care?

A bunch of historical fantasies roled into one
When it first started, it resembled almost entirely like Love Between Fairy And Devil but on steroids because of how fast the story was moving. I actually quite enjoyed it. Even the romance seemed to be moving pretty quickly and I wasn't quite buying it. But as the story unfolds, a lot is explained and it was enjoyable.Somewhere down the line it got a bit boring and then started getting interesting again later. Towards the end, I was annoyed because there were just too many twists by this point. I was a bit irritated with all the characters rather than just one or two. I didn't really like the ML's acting at this point. The FL was carrying the plot.
The FL is actually the best part of the show. She is adorable and acts well. I didn't find the ML attractive initially but he grew on me. But his acting is sometimes great and other times not worth mentioning. Partly because of the story too so I can't blame him completely. He is definitely good at emotional scenes though.
Ep23 was probably the worst for me. It was excruciating to watch but they do redeem themselves in the finale. However, by that time a lot of my interest was gone and I just wanted to end the show.
For the most part it is decent, the episodes are only 30 mins long and the story does move at a decent pace. It's an all right watch. They did mash up and get inspired by other historical fantasy dramas too but it was a good attempt.
I love the opening theme song but there are a few other songs that are nice.
Overall the show is a hit or a miss.

The first quarter was good.. then ehh.
This show had a really good start and the story was interesting. Not familiar with any of the main leads. I enjoyed it at first.. but then the flashbacks began and the show got draggy and boring. One episode started to take me a whole day to watch cuz i would get bored and turn it off. So i had to drop this one.Was this review helpful to you?

Really good at first, but feels draggy after
I was so excited for this drama and the initial episodes was really REALLY good. What can go wrong with this kind of trope right? I love the acting, especially the FL. she’s so cute omg. The ML is also great. The CGI is not that bad surprisingly. I kept watching because it’s that good and I thought that I finally found a drama worth finishing. But oh well… Something happened.I think it started after the FL got sucked back in the divine sword and see her past lives, and we actually get to see ALL her past lives. Now this is the problem that I have with this drama. IT’S TOO DRAGGY. Up until the story of her second life is fine. But after that point, it just gets really boring and feels draggy. I’m currently in episode 16 and they are literally telling us the fifth lifetime. FIFTH. GODDAMN.
I really want to love this drama so bad because they actually have a decent story plot and characters. But the dragging just feels so agonizing for me so unfortunately I’m dropping it.

Perfect Combination Of Short Tempered And Anger Issue
Ya’ll probably gonna hate me for this, but I’m short-tempered — and that’s exactly why I dropped this one. The acting was good, not gonna lie, but the character they gave the FL? Nah. By episode four I already hated the character (not the actor). That trope they used made me roll my eyes so hard my brain short-circuited.I was literally yelling at the screen for the FL to kill the demon. She had so many chances and did nothing but talk. I get the hostage situation, but come on — when she finally gets the sword, I would’ve just slashed the head off. Maybe the demon has a tragic backstory or a power-control issue like ZY in Fangs of Fortune, and maybe it gets better mid-series… but I’m not sticking around to find out.
Short patience and anger issues: my sworn enemies. That’s all. No hate to the fans — just not my vibe.
