A strong award contender this year

This series is shaping up to be a strong award contender this year. After watching Park Bo-young's heartfelt confession to her coworker in a small bar, there's a genuinely moving outburst where she admits she's been lying to herself. Bo-young delivers a perfectly balanced performance—neither overacted nor underplayed. I'm betting that she will at least secure major award nominations for Best Actress.

The story is deeply painful in nature, yet Bo-young brings a surprising sense of vitality to it. I'm also enjoying the twins as characters—they strike a nice balance, being neither too aggressive nor too passive. Their personalities feel authentically shaped by their life experiences. I imagine that, with a bit of help from others, the twins will survive by relying on their instincts and judgment.

10000% worth it !! this drama just had everything!

Wow this Drama is definitely up there as one of my top top topppppp watches!! Laughing and crying and everything in-between! There was romance there was sorrow there was confusion there was mystery there was semi revenge. There was happiness there was growth this drama just had everything in it that you could want!!

This drama was so so refreshing. I would tell everybody and anybody (I already am!!) to watch this drama to feel all the feelings and to ride the journey with these characters 10000% worth it !!! The music is also incredibleeeee and added to my playlists for ever!

There’s so much say!! Firstly Park Bo Young is an incredible actress and I love to watch everything if she’s in it, her skills are just incredible and the way she was able to play twins in this series?! 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️💕

I really liked Mi Ji she’s the character. I fell in love with first her personality the way she came across she was strong but there was so many layers to her and you were so intrigued about the three years and everything that had happened and where she was and why she was there and what she was doing, I was obsessed! The quote her and Grandma came up with will always stick in my mind!!!

“Yesterday is over.
Tomorrow is yet to come.
Today is yet unknown.
Let’s go!”

Don’t even be surprised if that becomes my new life motto where did the screenplay come from? Who wrote this who directed this? Obviously I know the answers 🤭 buttttt I’ll definitely be looking at their other work. This was incredible.!!

Another quote I loved was "love isn't about winning or losing. It's about remaining on the same team until the very end even if you lose. Love is about staying together even if you lose a hundred or a thousand times."

Then we have Mi Rae at first I found it really hard to get on with her because she just came across so closed off and frosty but when you got to know the character she again was just so relatable! I really liked that she got back at everybody at the business and that she didn’t let it slide. What happened I do think that storyline was so clever and so well written! The brother?! Kim Tae I I’m sure I’ve seen him in other dramas and I was just so impressed with his character. I did not expect him to be who he was. I definitely thought he was gonna be a bad guy and he turned out to be so awesome.!

Okayyyyy Park Jin Young who played Lee Ho Su in this drama I’ve never heard of him and now I can’t forget this actor/singer/everything his acting skills was so impressive. I genuinely thought he was just an actor if that makes sense?? to find out he’s also part of a K-pop group GOT7 I’ve already started listening to their music. Lee Ho Su Was such a lovable character he just had adorable written all over him! I was quite concerned at the end thinking it was gonna be a break up and they were gonna leave it like that. I’ve seen dramas where that happens but the fact that he opened up and he grew his character was just so incredible, he didn’t let anything phase him and when it did, he worked through it.

Won Mi Kyung played Kim Ro Sa Restaurant owner and Cha Mi Kyung played Kang Wol Sun, Mi Ji and Mi Rae's grandmother. Both these actresses need a round of applause their characters had me crying full on bawling my eyes out with their stories! Kim Ro Sa Character was so colourful one minute you thought she was just this angry restaurant owner the next minute you looked behind the layers and you saw this beautiful woman who you just wanted to be your neighbour and someone that you knew, I was so worried about the Sun and when it all came out and then it was saved, I was crying!! grandmother … what an actress it was nice at the end to see that final part to see and show just how well she was portraying her ill illness because at the end it was almost a completely different person! I cried so badly when she said to Mi Ji that she could hold on a bit longer if she needed ughhhhh my little heart!!

I enjoyed seeing actors and actresses that I’ve watched before appear in this drama and I am not just taking about the main characters! to highlight a few others would be Shim So Young playing Lee Hyo Gyeong [Planning and strategy team senior] Kim Sun Young as Yeom Bun Hong [Ho Su's mother], Jang Young Nam as Kim Ok Hui [Mi Ji and Mi Rae’s mother] and Im Chul Soo as Lee Chung Gu [Ho Su’s senior] they made this drama so enjoyable and entertaining! The mums were so opposite yet they were both so funny in their own way and seeing the back stories too was amazing! I think I would have liked a bit of back story to Ho Su’s senior Lee Chung Gu his character was so interesting!

All the roles and characters created in this drama was so well executed and all the up-and-coming actors and actresses. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the other dramas that they’re in because they were just so good!! Park Yoon Ho who was Lee Ho Su [Teen] 👏👏 and Lee Jae In who was Yoo Mi Ji | Yoo Mi Rae [Teen] incredible!!

I am curious the choice at the end for Mi Rae and Han Se Ji… where they friends or more?? I could not quite understand I feel like he had feeling for her especially at the airport and then the end scene where they smiled??? 🥹💕

It was wrapped up so well as a series and I can’t wait to see what both writers, directors andddd actors / actresses do next!

didn’t expect this to be so good

I didn’t expect this drama to be so good. the storyline between miji and hosu was so pure and good. mirae and the strawberry farmer’s story is equally as intriguing and makes me wonder what will happen next and if they will end up together. There was many emotional scenes packed into these 12 episodes. This drama also focuses on family, depression, caring for elderly, careers, workplace sexual harassment and bullying, plus much more. It such a wholesome and more realistic drama. Definitely recommend others watch it. The main actress’s acting in this drama was fantastic. I’ve always watched her dramas but wasn’t a big fan. This drama showed her versatile acting since she played two characters.

It has Seoul so far

Better than I expected so far, it tries to reflect the realities of modern life of two young women without the filters or being too light hearted about it but yet doesn't become so depressing you lose hope as a viewer. Park Bo Young plays twin sisters who are opposites but are trapped in their respective lives. One is an academic superstar who has suffered health issues when she was young and is employed in an "office" job in Seoul which helps the family financially. She is overly serious and suffers from depression, anxiety and possible PTSD from her work situation. The other is an athletic superstar with a happy go lucky personality whose athletic career in school was cut short. Fast forward to her 30s, she feels aimless with a lack of direction or qualifications in the shadow of her sister. In the mix is Park Jin Young a teen friend who grew up with them in the countryside, he is a steady kind presence and the first two episodes gives a hint who he may have a romantic attachment to. I am excited to see how their relationship will develop, the last scene in the second episode sent off a few butterflies 🦋.

Both sisters are on a path of taking detours from their lives where they felt confined and one was on the desperate path of self harm to try to have a temporarily reprieve from her circumstances. They are both navigating the often invisible yet deeply felt terrain of identity, burnout, and family expectations. Park Bo Young plays both roles beautifully with subtle shifts in mannerisms, ways of speaking, and maturity.

Will they find the transformation in reclaiming their lives to live not as what they are expected to be but how they were meant to be when they switch places?

Our Unwritten Seoul

grounded, real, and heavy. Our unwritten Seoul is easily the Best Drama this year alongside When Life Gives you Tangerines.

A show that knows what it is and doesn’t try to force some sort of side plot that has no effect on the story being told. It says what it wants to say perfectly. The cast is brilliant. PBY is always a standout in anything she chooses to be in. Jinyoung was also good. Though I preferred the other ML played by Ryu Kyung-soo. Unpopular opinion but I just liked his character more and wished we had more time with him.

There’s an unexpected comfort in this drama that you wouldn’t expect reading the plot. It’s themes are heavy but it’s so true to life that you just can’t help to keep watching. That being said, I can only watch these types of dramas when I’m in the right mood. preparation needs to be made because I know that this isn’t just another light rom-com that follows the same structure, has the same themes, and most of the time the same ending. There’s hope and an open ending because the story isn’t over. Life doesn’t end when you get where you want. Moreso it begins because you start living for yourself and the people&things you care about.

100% recommend.

When Life Gives You Onions, Keep Cutting...

One of the most beautiful and healing SoLs since My Liberation Notes!

So much was relatable, and so much made me cry and cry, especially the final three episodes. The finding oneself again when knocked down by life. The beautiful characters- grandma's warmth, and Hosu's mom(Kim Sun-young) is the greatest. I adored Se-jin and Tae-yi. I loved how the love triangle's a beautiful friendship. The star-crossed poem that was Kim Ro-sa. The genuine way the drama embraced so many things. Even the "bad guys" remain very human despite them seeming 1D. Ho-su's mentor is a one-of-a-kind sort of chara hard to pin down. There are caricatures and tropes and some degree of suspending disbelief and all, but there is also something that strays from the expected in a good way. Some things could have gone on for longer till a 16th episode but the length was perfect. It felt ideal.

I didn't want to watch the last episode because then it would end😭. "Driving Alone at Night..." is still playing in my mind... I don't think I'll be able to let go anytime soon. There is so much in every episode- those quotes will be immortal!

"Yesterday is over. Tomorrow is yet to come. Today is yet unknown. Let's go!"

If you open the door, I'll be right outside.

So where do i start ?
The perfectly written storyline ? Loveable characters ? Solid acting? Unforgettable dialogues? And so on...
This drama has everything of top tier quality.
(And Don't wanna compare, but imo this drama is just as good as WLGYT if not better...these both dramas have become benchmark for slice of dramas...)

So here's my review:)

Storyline:
Absolutely great with focused themes of depression and overcoming trauma...
The swap between twins part is presented with sense of realism to it. And, almost all parts of storyline have realistic and sincere portrayal. The main character's conflict as well as side character's conflict are all resloved gracefully in the end. And honestly, its just a healing story of people.

Acting:
The cast for this is absolutely stacked. Every performance here is so well done. And of course, park boyoung is star of the show with her effortless portrayal of two twins, the way she managed to present different natures of twins is so incredible and dare i say, its her best performance in her career so far. Park jinyoung gives grounded performance as Lee Ho su. Another highlight would be kim sunyoung with her wholesome performance as hosu's mother, she'll make you fall in love with the character. Also, shout out to lee jae in and park yoon so for their portrayal of teenage miji-mirae and hosu, they did awesome job.

Music:
I don't give much attention to music so I'm not really sure about this one. The opening song is cute. And i didn't feel there was any moment where i thought that the music was misplaced or unfitting so i guess it was good overall.

Key highlights:
-Slow buildup of relationships with natural chemistry. Its fresh to see such slow burn romance done right.
-DIALOGUES. You have to pay attention at dialogues here because they're the backbone of this slice of life story. There are so many quotes to take away and learn from.
-there's no villain, just real people with flaws and imperfections.
-Satisfying resolutions to conflicts.

Overall a must watch if you enjoy slice of life, romance dramas. (I'd suggest this to anyone though, its overall mustwatch) and when I'm saying must watch, it genuinely is.
Also, keep tissues close by cause almost each episode has few heart melting, heartbreaking, bittersweet moments.

It’s an experience that touched places in my heart I had forgotten even existed.

Our Unwritten Seoul is more than just a drama — it’s an experience that touched places in my heart I had forgotten even existed. It’s a truly healing drama. The gentle, thoughtful conversations and the unique way it approached life’s ordinary yet complex situations made me pause and reflect on what truly matters.
I fell in love with every character and their dynamics. Watching them grow, evolve, step out of their comfort zones, and face life’s uncertainties with courage was both inspiring and comforting. It’s a rare kind of storytelling that feels like a warm embrace, reminding you that it’s okay to struggle, to stumble, and to start again.
It’s a pity that it had to end, but the journey was absolutely worth it. I will carry the lessons, emotions, and quiet strength of this drama with me for a long time.

lost its shine halfway through

very similar to Our Blues
a story about real life feelings
not a love story, but a story that includes love
pacing stalled in 3rd act and felt repetitive
PBY killed it and carried this drama

30 yo virgins, 10 year misunderstanding, waiting for "the right time" to confess or date, anticlimactic reveal, 1 couple never DTR = feels disingenuous given the authentic vibes
The SA case was built up so much and it felt like there were so many "company villains" that it was hard to keep up

How to Get Unstuck When Life Makes you Stuck

The theme of this drama reminded me a lot of Melo Movie. The trope where some sort of tragedy or event happens and people get stuck just getting by rather than getting past and moving on.

Identical twin sisters growing up with completely opposite personalities and talents discover they can trade places with each other when needed. The drama opens with the adult twins in two different locations and one, Mirae, depressed and stuck in a dysfunctional work environment is thinking about ending it all. Miji, her twin, agrees to trade places with her so she can rest and deal with her emotionally depressed state. It is in the switching that each discover how various tragedies in their lives have brought them both to this point in life. It is also through the switching they discover more in themselves that help lead them out of being stuck in a life that is just existing rather than thriving.

It is also a wonderful story of several women who support and build each other up in order to get unstuck. First the family of the twins, their mother, and grandmother. Miji, Mirae, Ok Hui, and Wol Sun. The bond between these women was the foundation for the movie and the best part about it. There was an absolutely amazing scene when Wol Sun came home and was saying goodbye to Miji that was sad, but amazingly beautiful. I loved the last scene when Miji saw the bird out her window looking at her representing her grandmother still being with her.

These were not the only strong women in the drama, nor the only strong storylines. The story of Bun Hong's devotion to Hosu, the story of Ro Sa and her best friend who was a poet, the relationship between Mirae and Su Yeon were all amazing stories in and of themselves and also showed bravery in moving forward in life after experiencing heartache.

The men in the drama were also outstanding in their own storylines of getting unstuck in life. Hosu's coming to terms with his disabilities left by the car accident that took his father's life. Se Jin resolving the guilt he felt about his grandfather and being able to move past that guilt. Even the lawyer Chung Gu being able to move past the corporate greed to taking on cases that helped the real victims.

It really is a story of getting unstuck. Whether sadness, fear, guilt, there is a way past and a life ahead. That's what the main characters in this story showed us. Along the way, you will laugh, cringe, cry, and feel sad when it all comes to an end. Because it is one of those story's where you want to just move in next door to these people and continue to be a part of their lives.

Well done Park Bo Young!!! It could not be easy playing two roles a t once. Especially when their personalities were so different. She did an amazing acting job with this.

The only weakness in the story, and I have to say it didn't lessen my enjoyment by much, was the story of Miji's track accident. It was completely unbelievable. She is running down the track and sees Mirae and Hosu hugging. This causes her to trip and fall. According to the story, this "trip" breaks her leg so severely that she can never run again, and her athletic future is dead. The physics of this don't work, so it's not believable. Running on a track might cause a fracture, a sprain, but not such a severe break as to end someone's track career. The only possible way this would work is if she had severe osteoporosis. Doubtful considering she was a teenager at the time. Like I said before, this is a small weakness and did not effect my enjoyment of the drama overall.

it's never too late to start over...

I really resonated with Mirae and Miji switching roles... it's something that we all must have wanted to do whenever we were having a particularly bad day.

Our actors, especially Park Boyoung and Park Jinyoung, killed it! Park Boyoung did such an incredible job playing the twins, and creating such a unique differentation between them. It really shines when she has chemistry with one as one twin and then has abosuktely none when she's the other twin. Many props to her.

And then everyone else around the leads, were just as compelling. The mothers were not typical conflict points, but had their own insecurities that were so real to watch. And the story building up to the episode focusing on our restaurant owner had me deeply reflecting. Each point were meaningfully interwoven that brought out such important life lessons in the end. The first half when everything is settling in is particularly stronger. It did move into the angsty route during the latter half, but fortunately it did not drag it out too long and it didn't feel too overdramatized. I loved that the writer didn't take any easy routes.

The only thing I would've loved more is Mirae's journey. The synopsis had made it seemed like the focus would've been on both of the twins, but Miji definitely held more of the screentime and plot points. That's all to say that I loved all the characters and just wanted more.

Yesterday is over. Tomorrow is yet to come. Today is yet unknown.

“𝘠𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳. 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦. 𝘛𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯.” — I don’t know why, but this quote hit me so hard. It felt like a quiet reminder for people who feel stuck.
Feeling I had while watching Our Unwritten Seoul — quiet, uncertain, but weirdly comforting. This drama surprised me.
Our Unwritten Seoul was soft, painful, and very personal. It just sits beside you quietly, and somehow, you start to feel it more and more.

The story follows two twin sisters — Miji and Mirae — who are completely opposite in every way. But what got me is that they’re both quietly struggling, just in different directions. One keeps running away, the other keeps holding it in. And the moment they decide to switch lives? That’s when things start shifting. Not just in their circumstances, but in how they start noticing themselves again — the parts they forgot, avoided, or never understood. I really liked how subtle it was. Not dramatic. Just raw, small, everyday moments where you could see the cracks.

Miji was reckless, messy, loud — but there was so much softness in her. Her smile didn’t always reach her eyes. And Mirae, on the other hand, had that cold, closed-off vibe. But she wasn’t cold — just scared. And tired. I related to both of them at different points.

But Mirae and Sejin… I honestly wish we got to see more of them.
Their relationship had this soft, quiet feeling to it. It was a little clumsy, but still warm in its own way. And I really liked that about them — how they didn’t try too hard, how it all felt natural. But compared to Miji and Hosu, their story felt a bit distant. Not emotionally — just in how the drama showed them. Mirae honestly felt like a side character in her own story.

Most of the time, it felt like we were only shown the surface of their bond — a few sweet moments here and there — but not enough to fully understand what was going on inside them. I kept waiting for a scene that would really let us sit with Mirae’s thoughts or show Sejin in a deeper light. But that scene never really came. I just wanted to know what they were feeling, what they were holding back, how they were growing together. Because I know there was more. The drama just didn’t give it enough time.
So even though I liked them as a couple, and I did feel connected to them in some way, I was left wanting. Not in a bad way, just in that quiet “I wish we saw more” kind of way.

This drama also made space for the struggles of the moms, and I appreciated that. Their moments weren’t loud either, but they said a lot. Just like the younger characters, they were doing their best to carry pain while trying to protect someone else. The contrast between how they expressed pain — one through quiet sacrifice, the other through open frustration — felt honest. They weren’t perfect, but they were real.

This drama doesn't sugarcoat anything. It digs into workplace bullying, family pressure, and all that heavy stuff we deal with in real life. But here's the thing - it never felt preachy or like it was trying too hard to make a point. It just... showed you these people's lives and let you feel what they felt.

The flashbacks were beautiful. They didn’t feel forced at all. Every memory added something new to how we saw the characters. You could tell this was well-made. Thoughtfully written. Emotionally layered. Even the silences felt meaningful.

Acting-wise, Park Bo Young was incredible. She made Miji and Mirae feel like completely different people. Their voices, their eyes, their energy — everything was distinct. I didn't feel confused. And Park Jinyoung as Hosu? He managed to make me cry with a single glance. Ugh. It was all in his eyes. The way he spoke softly. The way he looked at people. It felt so real. He made Hosu feel like someone who’s been holding it together for way too long. I loved how grounded and genuine he felt in every scene.
Now about Sejin — omg I wish he had more scenes because I really liked his vibe.
The supporting cast also brought so much warmth. Especially the younger versions of the twins were cast so well! The mothers — both the twins’ mom and Hosu’s. I loved how layered they felt.
The acting felt real — not exaggerated, not stiff, just soft and believable. Every emotion just right.

The cinematography was calm and beautiful.

I don’t know how to describe the overall feeling of this drama, but this is like a quiet ache — the kind that slowly grows on you and stays long after the final episode. Our Unwritten Seoul surprised me. It didn’t shout or try to impress. It just quietly told a story of pain, growth, and rediscovery. Miji & Hosu’s journey broke and healed me. Mirae & Sejin’s moments were soft and sweet — and I truly wish we got to see more of their hearts.

It’s not perfect. But it’s honest.
A gentle, emotional watch. Raw in a soft way.
