Love Is Better the Second Time Around

Just watch the first 4 episodes and the last 4 minutes of episode 6.

As soon as I watched the first episode, I knew this was going to be a good show. I have not liked most BL shows (I prefer reading the comics) but I really anticipated this show since I am familiar with the mangaka.

We are all aware this is going to be a trope-y romance where they carry their adolescent feelings into their adulthood and we are going to love it.

The first two episodes were so fun with the introduction of the characters which were all enjoyable the majority of the time. Although, I will say that they did not feel quite fleshed out. Iwanaga felt surface level, like his words and responses to Miyata throughout the whole show did not move me. Miyata spent the first three episodes sharing his feelings and it felt like Iwanaga wasn’t actually listening with his flirty coquettish behavior. BUT THIS DOES NOT MEAN I DID NOT ENJOY THIS CHARACTER.
The way Iwanaga reacted and responded were very funny with each and every moment. When he stayed to eat the cake in episode 2 after Miyata walks out on him was great. He has walked away from this man to leave him on his lonesome so many times throughout the show and I love that for him and me. Miyata having his guard up and not trusting Iwanaga right out the bat was to be expected but his reasoning of not trusting him felt like it needed to be fleshed out more since it seemed like he was holding onto the way his young teenage self felt. Made him a bit unreasonable to me, at times, or maybe I am being a bit biased towards Iwanaga.
Shiriashi was adorable with his little schemes and jabs; I was okay with him being a menace for the man he pined for. You can tell I have read way too many dramatic BL comics where revenge on a love rival have been severe so the way Shiriashi behaved was nothing.
I found the dialogue to be so fun and entertaining like each character did respond in the way that I would expect. Sometimes BL dramas/movies have the odd/uncomfortable dialogue that ruins it for me. I do not care for very intimate scenes in shows but the one in episode 3 felt necessary. It broadened my view on Miyata’s feelings with the call back to the past when Iwanaga apologized for his first kiss. “Don’t be sorry. If you like me, don’t be sorry”. THIS LINE WAS SO GOOD.
If there is an episode I have to pick that made this story it would be the fourth one. Episode 4, in particular, was memorable since so much happened and Miyata showed many different reactions/faces and said many surprising things. This wasn’t that surprising cause he has always been blunt but I was kind of shook he said he thought of Iwanaga while pleasuring himself outside right in front of the moon.

Episodes 5, I felt the momentum of my enjoyment and anticipation of the show falter a bit. It felt unnecessary to have that kind of drama and going into episode 6 felt like such a chore but the last scene of episode 6 made it worth getting through. I did not care about what was happening or what was being resolved. Just because I did not like the last two episodes does not mean this was not a good story. Your typical romance/BL has to have the drama.
I have read some of the author’s English translated works on MangaPlaza and on Kindle and their stories tend to have very similar dynamics which felt familiar in this show. I mention that since Miyata and Iwanaga were similar to certain characters throughout their works and I think they did a great job, as well as the show doing a great adaptation. I can see the author’s other works getting adapted.

I would definitely rewatch the first four episodes.

Maybe love is better the second time around

I actually enjoyed love is better the second time around, I felt it was different from the recent Japanese BLs lately because it literally was their love a second time around, from them dating when they were younger and in high school were they broke up from a miss communication and then years later they finally meet again from work. I have to also say that I am a huge fan of Makoto (Miyata) because he’s in the jpop group the rampage from exile tribe and he’s one of my favorites from the group. The plot is how Miyata and Takashi used to date when they were younger and in high school and we’re gonna run away together because Takashi new his parents wouldn’t accept them together, but on the day they were supposed to leave Takashi never showed up so and stopped talking to each other. Later in the present Miyata is a reporter and has to write an article about Takashi who is a successful university professor and they finally see each other after that long break, you do expect that reaction from Miyata that he is done with Takashi and isn’t their to talk about their past relationship together since now Miyata moved on and is dating a girl and is about to propose to her, but on the day he proposes to her she rejects because he doesn’t seem to be paying attention to her anymore after being together for a long time and at the restaurant he proposes to her at Takashi comes and puts the ring on him and later they have a very steamy scene. Then Miyata is frequently at the office that Takashi works at, but Takashi’s assistant Yuto has a crush on Takashi and keeps telling Miyata that he can’t have him because he’s his and calls him a b!tch. Later Miyata goes to Takashis house drunk and Yuto is their, but he got rejected and Miyata goes in and Takashi takes care of him and Miyata is the cutest person while being drunk. Miyata does also get a key that he can enter Takashis house whenever he wants to. Later Sugimoto who is the person who kept Takashi with him on the day they were Miyata and him we’re supposed to run away together, but he sends Miyata a pic of Takashi sleeping while shirtless and sends it to Miyata while he’s at the train station and that is the reason why they lost contact. Turns out Sugimoto had a crush on Takashi and wanted him, but helped Miyata and Takashi get approved by his parents even if he still liked him. They also had a whole lot more steamy scenes, but I won’t spoil anymore. I also loved the younger them because they were a actually so cute together and I would like to see the younger them in a BL together. I really recommend this drama.

I love every episode.

I love every episode until I rewatched the whole thing again before watching the last episode today lol (I follow it every week). This series is really beautiful (cinematography, OST, dialogue), the plot is neat and tight, and sexy lol. I don't know why, even though all the characters are dressed in thick clothes, but the aura is still really sexy. The acting of all the actors is good (especially Senpai) and the chemistry between the MCs is also really good. The premise has actually been used by many BL (or dramas in general?); met the teen first love, when they were already adults. But I think the execution is really good. The explanation is clear and coherent, why do they behave like that when they grow up. The ending also makes you really satisfied, the last episode really answers the first episode. Miyata's gaze at Senpai at the end is the same as when he was a teenager, totally bliss. BTW, I like that they use different actors between the adult version and the teenage version; I'm a bit annoyed by dramas that use the same actors for the school and adult versions, sometimes the actors look too old to wear uniforms.

My favorite is Senpai. From the start, his character is made ambiguous (both when he was a teenager and now an adult) and kind of love bombing so he looks manipulative, till the end we (and Miyata) doubt whether his love is genuine or not? But everything was answered in the last episode.

I will miss this series so much.

O Amor é Melhor na Segunda Vez (2024) é um BL japonês que, apesar de não ser maravilhoso, é definitivamente assistível e agradável. Dei nota 8 porque conseguiu entregar uma história envolvente, com personagens cativantes, e um desenvolvimento razoavelmente bom, que me fez ficar interessada até o final.

Embora o enredo não seja completamente inovador, ele toca em temas interessantes sobre segundas chances no amor e como as coisas podem ser diferentes quando duas pessoas se encontram em momentos distintos de suas vidas. A dinâmica entre os protagonistas foi um dos pontos altos para mim. Eles têm uma boa química, e a forma como o relacionamento deles se desenvolve de maneira gradual e realista foi algo que gostei muito.

O ritmo foi um pouco mais lento em alguns momentos, mas isso não foi um grande problema, já que a história não tentava forçar situações. Os personagens têm profundidade suficiente para nos fazer querer torcer por eles, e o romance, embora não tenha sido o mais intenso ou surpreendente, foi bonito de assistir.

O final, embora não tenha sido deslumbrante, foi satisfatório. Fechou a história de uma maneira que fez sentido e trouxe uma sensação de resolução, o que é sempre bom.

Em resumo, não é o BL mais inesquecível, mas é totalmente digno de ser assistido. Para quem curte esse tipo de história, é uma escolha que vale a pena, e a nota 8 reflete exatamente o que ele entrega: um bom entretenimento com um romance doce e tocante.

Serie incentrata sul tema della seconda chance, dove i due protagonisti si ritrovano nel presente in età adulta. Diversi e apprezzabili i flashback del passato, con il primo approccio adolescenziale finito male. Interessante il concetto di maturità, che sembra voler inizialmente spiegare perchè da ragazzini la storia no avesse funzionato, salvo poi incappare in errori e fraintendimenti anche nella situazione portata avanti nel presente.
La trama non è nulla di innovativo, ma è piacevole. Non è una serie che punta a essere ricordata tra i drama migliori del 2024, ma raggiunge con sufficiente scorrevolezza l'obiettivo standard che si pone, aspetto non scontato e dove molte altre serie falliscono. Mi è piaciuta molto la caratterizzazione del personaggio di Miyata, credibile e con una buona introspezione, il tutto supportato da un attore a mio avviso azzeccato per il ruolo. A tarpare le ali alla serie è invece l'altro protagonista, Iwanaga, dove non solo non ho apprezzato la scelta dell'attore (in generale, entrambi gli adulti erano esteticamente molto diversi - e anche un passo indietro, va detto - rispetto agli interpreti delle versione adolescenziali dei protagonisti), ma ho trovato deludente anche la caratterizzazione stessa del personaggio. Va bene ermetico e che non lascia trapelare le proprie emozioni, ma c'è modo e modo. Ne risulta un personaggio per niente espressivo, anche laddove si sarebbe dovuto percepire il suo intento di contenersi e controllarsi. Invece non traspare nulla, quel poco che si comprende deve essere supportato da qualche sporadica sua uscita tra sé e sé. Anche l'atteggiamento sembra fuori luogo, fin dall'inizio mostra un approccio antipatico, poco sincero, con un sorriso e delle uscite che sanno davvero di superficialità. Ho avuto l'impressione che su carta il personaggio dovesse essere in un modo ben preciso, ma che nel concreto il risultato sia stato totalmente diverso e davvero deludente. Altra pecca è aver dato un ruolo fondamentale agli eventi passati - e mi stanno bene tutti gli spaccati di loro due proposti nei vari episodi - ma il vero nocciolo della questione, che comprende anche una serie di personaggi all'epoca evidentemente determinati ma per la maggior parte del drama mai visti ne citati, si concentra praticamente nell'ultimo episodio, dando l'impressione di una risoluzione sbrigativa e poco curata. Buona la prova dell'attore che interpreta Shiraishi (l'assistente di Iwanaga), che avevo già apprezzato nel ruolo di protagonista nel drama "Tokyo in aprile...": qui il suo ruolo è secondario e centra perfettamente l'obiettivo di rendersi insopportabile e antipatico. Una serie quindi con aspetti apprezzabili, ma non senza evidenti difetti.

Mature. Honnête. Maladroit. Réaliste. Intense. Voilà quelques mots qui peuvent résumer Koi wo Suru Nara Nidome ga Joto. En son cœur, une histoire d’amour qui se voit offrir une seconde chance. Parfois, la seconde fois est bien meilleure que la première…

La vie tranquille de Miyata Akihiro est soudainement chamboulée lorsqu’il pousse la porte du bureau de Iwanaga Takashi. Ce dernier est un professeur d’université populaire, mais ils sont aussi un premier amour partagé. Malgré les années passées et les quelques rancœurs, chaque scène sonne comme une retrouvaille plaisante. Leur relation est fluide, taquine et complice. Cela ne tarde pas avant que les choses ne se mettent en place. Iwanaga Takashi séduit. Miyata Akihiro résiste. L’amour appelle l’amour.

C’est un drama chargé d’une tension qui s’étire au fil des épisodes. Une tension qui se ressent à partir du moment où ils se retrouvent. J’adore la ténacité de Iwanaga Takashi et la résistance de Miyata Akihiro. Cela dit, ce refus n’est pas seulement pour tourmenter son partenaire. Les blessures de Miyata Akihiro sont toujours vives, il ne veut plus être blessé. Leurs sourires sont d’une douceur réconfortante et d’une chaleur enivrante. Hasegawa Makoto et Furuya Robin possèdent une magnifique alchimie. Cela donne ainsi des baisers exceptionnels ainsi que de belles scènes intimes.

Il y a dans ce drama une franchise étonnante. Loin des non-dits de My Personnal Weatherman, par exemple. Nul doute que nous sommes dans un JBL, mais il résonne avec liberté. Avec sa pudeur japonaise, les personnages sont ouvertement francs sur leurs sentiments. Tellement que c’en devient étourdissant de les voir s’entremêler émotionnellement. De même quant aux scènes intimes qui sont d’une intensité puissante. Du début à la fin, c’est une histoire d’amour entre deux hommes qui se sont aimés, et qui s’aiment encore aujourd’hui. On ne sacrifie pas la romance comme dans Perfect Propose, ou elle ne devient pas secondaire comme I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama.

Ils étaient amoureux la première fois, et ils sont toujours amoureux pour la seconde fois. À noter que nous suivons les deux points de vue. Leur histoire commune est le fil conducteur. La musique est discrète, mais entraînante. Celle du générique connaît des notes amusantes, presque saugrenues. En revanche, l’épisode final est un peu trop précipité pour pleinement l’apprécier. Tandis que la tension s’est installée depuis le début, c’était comme jeter un seau d’eau glacée sur l’histoire. C’était mignon et ça faisait plaisir, mais ce n’était pas aussi émotionnellement fort que les épisodes précédents. Encore une fois, le défaut de ce BL japonais est sa durée. Beaucoup trop court pour développer chaque sujet avec profondeur.

Pour résumer, Koi wo Suru Nara Nidome ga Joto est un peu trop court sur sa durée pour développer chaque sujet avec profondeur. Cependant, il connaît une forte tension qui crépite au fil des épisodes, tandis qu’il nous laisse découvrir une seconde chance laissée à l’amour avec des personnages matures et francs.

Gostei do drama, ele aborda o amor na juventude e seus anseios por poder ser quem é, mas a realidade escancara que nem sempre é possível naquele momento, mas no futuro, quem sabe?

O personagem Takashi foi atacante o tempo todo kkkkk, mas eu não sei porque raios não resolve todas as suas questões pessoais antes de flertar com alguém, só pra dar conteúdo em drama. E meu Deus, abre a boca, o distanciamento dele para com o Miyata no sentido de mostrar suas fraquezas irrita. A longo prazo isso não funciona. Já o Miyata, ferido, acreditando que tudo não passou de uma aposta, se mantém distante o máximo que consegue.

No geral é bom, dá para passar bem o tempo, aproveitar momentos engraçados, mas também há momentos dolorosos.
Mas se formos analisar e até pensar se o relacionamento duraria a longo prazo, não sei, só se o Takashi se abrisse, porque ninguém quer estar ao lado de uma pessoa e ainda se sentir sozinho.

bom, porém, poderia ser melhor

Esse BL tem apenas 6 episódios de 24 minutos, e mesmo assim consegue desenvolver a história de forma que parece que passei mais tempo com os personagens. Gostei bastante do redator, ele não levava desaforo e era sempre direto, gosto disso. O professor também era gente boa, mas até o final do BL eu não soube dizer ao certo qual era a personalidade dele, talvez algo misto.
Eles têm boa química, a atuação não é caricata, os beijos não se limitam àqueles selinhos engessados, e os personagens são decididos quanto à própria sexualidade. De bônus, ainda tem o enredo de se conhecerem desde a adolescência. Acredito que esse BL teria ainda mais brilho se mostrasse mais cenas deles jovens, sabe? Criando um paralelo entre o primeiro encontro e o momento em que reacendem a chama no presente. Fica difícil se apegar totalmente ao fato de que eles se amam se isso não é mostrado nem na adolescência, nem de forma mais aprofundada na fase adulta. Eu, particularmente, adoro quando há vários flashbacks do passado, pois eles ajudam a construir o relacionamento e a dar sentido ao presente.
Enfim, é um BL gostosinho de assistir. Não é ruim, mas poderia ter tido um roteiro mais elaborado, com mais camadas. Ainda assim, se você procura algo rápido, leve e agradável para ver em uma tarde, esse é o ideal.

Esse BL conseguiu me conquistar desde os primeiros episódios! A química entre os protagonistas é palpável, e o desenvolvimento do relacionamento deles foi muito bem construído, sem pressa nem clichês forçados. Os atores fizeram um trabalho incrível, transmitindo emoções genuínas que me fizeram torcer por eles do início ao fim.

A trama, embora simples, foi cativante e manteve um bom equilíbrio entre romance, drama e momentos leves. A direção também merece elogios, com belas tomadas e uma trilha sonora que complementou perfeitamente as cenas emocionantes. Se você procura um BL bem feito, com casal carismático e histórias que aquecem o coração, esse é uma ótima escolha!

Uma Boa História!!!

Que BL que foi uma experiência agradável de assistir, apesar de curtinho, ele entregou o que prometeu. Eu classifico esse tipo de série, como um BL “Fast Food”, aquele tipo de história rápida para vocês assistirem quando quiserem algo que não tome muito o tempo de vocês. Além disso, ele não causa indigestão, pois são enredos sólidos, coesos e apaixonantes. O Japão assim como a Coréia tem essa fama, entregar boas e cativantes histórias, em um espaço curto de tempo. E com “Love Is Better The Second Time Around” não foi diferente, não é uma grande e impactante história, mas trouxe o amor e conflitos que eu gosto de assistir. O destaque dessa série para mim foi o amor atemporal de Miyata e Iwanaga (ou Hoshizawa Senpai), que iniciou na doce juventude e teve um desenrolar na vida adulta, me trazendo aquele tipo de desenvolvimento mais maduro com personagens 30+. Miyata me mostrou que nem sempre ser adulto implica ter maturidade e certezas, pois acompanhei suas inseguranças, medos, traumas, reflexões e falta de amor próprio a todo momento, nas suas tentativas de negação de seus sentimentos por Iwanaga. E foi muito bom acompanhar sua evolução pessoal, à medida que ele se permitia viver novamente esse amor, descobrindo sua confiança e resolvendo o passado. Da mesma forma, o centrado, maduro e bem sucedido Iwanaga, me trouxe as certezas, o preço das escolhas, suas batalhas internas, a relação conturbada com a família e a necessidade de recuperar o tempo perdido. Evoluindo também ao ponto de se enxergar e aceitar suas falhas e imaturidade do passado, mas principalmente, de não abrir mão novamente do seu grande amor independentemente de qualquer coisa. Temperando esse enredo, tivemos também como destaque, o assistente de Iwanaga e rival do amor de Miyata, Shiraishi. Ele me deu todas as vibes de uma mona afrontosa, obsessiva e que está sempre disposta a fazer qualquer coisa pelo seu homem, trazendo o caos e a irreverência para o relacionamento dos protagonistas, o que foi uma delícia e hilário de acompanhar. Minha nota vai ser apenas um 07, pois foi uma boa história, divertida, romântica e que ainda me trouxe um pouco de reflexão sobre a vida, o tempo, o destino e sobre as escolhas que fazemos. Não tivemos grandes beijos, mas tivemos cenas de amor maravilhosas, doces e intensas, além de um bom “bolo” japonês batido e úmido. E para completar, toda a beleza, charme e momentos de fofura do casal Myiata e Iwanaga, que não poderia também deixar de mencionar aqui.
