Not fully built out, but still fun, cliche

It was fine:

The chemistry between the leads was good and majority of the parts were well acted. I'm not sure when it was decided that "cold" business leaders must speak in short jilted sentences but it's annoying and gives a poor portrayal. Ahn Hyo Seop did it in Business Proposal as well, where it was also obnoxious. Fortunately, the "cold" portrayal isn't the whole range of his character and I thought he did fairly well outside of this.

The character development made no sense. I get that this drama was short but everyone got over their issues within a day including deep seated hatred toward the grandson. It would take more than 2 people calling her out on her BS for someone to grow from that.

There were cute aspects and parts that made my heart pitter patter but there were enough cliches and holes that I will not watch or recommend it

A Colorful, Rock-Fueled Romcom with a Twist

I aim to keep my reviews short, spoiler-free, and focused on the key points to help you decide if a drama is worth your time. I never fast-forward and always strive to watch the entire series to give a fair and thorough perspective.

If you're a seasoned K-drama watcher looking for something that’s both familiar and refreshingly offbeat, this one's going to hit a sweet spot. Imagine your classic chaebol-boy-meets-humble-girl story, but with a quirky twist. Colorful, exaggerated, sometimes childish, and just enough emotional weight to keep things grounded.

Expect offbeat, over-the-top comedy that’s part slapstick, part sweet. It’s unapologetically playful, sometimes innocent, sometimes borderline cringe, but always fun. You’ll either find it adorable or a little much, depending on your romcom tolerance.

Visually, it’s a feast! From vibrant colors, to playful styling, and a youthful energy throughout. The rock-heavy OST adds a punch of personality, while heartfelt ballads land perfectly during emotional moments, especially as the story deepens.

The ML stands out by not being your usual cool, mature male lead. He's more childish and emotionally raw, which makes him stand out in a genre often full of polished perfection. The FL is your classic hardworking heroine, naive in love but full of charm. The leads have good chemistry and deliver strong performances.

Yes, there are clichés (disapproving relatives, fever scenes, classic misunderstandings), but it also throws in fresh twists and avoids a cliché ending. Some arcs feel a bit forced, but overall, the storytelling stays engaging.

It also touches on deeper themes like toxic work culture, the impact of scandals and public perception, and the internal battles of young professionals navigating legacy and expectation. These moments don’t always get the depth they deserve, but the effort is there.

It’s predictable in structure but surprising in detail. A playful, stylish romcom with just enough bite. Whether you find it childish or charming will depend on your mood, but if you stick around, there’s a rewarding emotional journey waiting.

I’m surprised this was good

At first, I thought this show was going to be really cringe (and it kinda was), but after watching, I actually enjoyed it. The main leads had pretty good chemistry and were cute together. It did annoy me how she was still mad about him lying when he was 15—like, can she not see he’s obviously more mature now compared to ten years ago? The second couple honestly drove me crazy, and I couldn’t stand them. Every time they appeared, I wanted to throw my TV out the window because they were so annoying. I also felt like the last three episodes fell off a bit, but I still had a good time watching it. I wouldn’t rewatch it, but I would recommend it!💗💗💗

Good up to a point...

I have dinner in the instantpot and it cooks in 5 minutes so I have to be fast...

Was this good? Yes...it was a decent little romcom. Extra points that it was a noona romance.

Was it excellent? No...the complexity of the plot faded about episode 8 or 9.

How were the chacters? OK. I really enjoyed the secondary romance. For the primary characters, I liked the female main character. The male lead was a bit wooden and I'm still trying to decide if that's how he acts or if he was directed to act that way (which I can see since the plot has the male lead suppresses a lot of things). That led to the male and female leads kind of being unbelievable in the romance. The "villains" (mild spoilers here...turn back now!) were just ok. There was a superficial villain in the office that didn't really pan out to much and had a "I was wrong" moment in the last episode. The main "villain" (the chairwoman/grandmother) was so over the top in how much she hated on the male lead that it was almost comical. And then the sudden about face halfway through the last episode? Totally unbelievable.

How was the plot? Shallow at best. If you're really wanting an enemies to lovers plotline (which I was), I think you'll be a little disappointed. Sure, they are kind of enemies to lovers, but when it resolves it resolves REALLY quickly and then you'd never know they had a complex past.

Rewatchable? Nah. I'm good.

Minor complaints? Sure, since you asked. The weird little montage on how they ended the final episode was kind of weird and disjointed. What's happening bouncing around to different scenes of them smooching? Is it time passing? Showing that their relationship is strong? What's this doing... It really just kind of seemed like they had an extra couple of minutes they had to fill with something...so more smooching in different scenes and different places with no context or dialogue.

Glad I watched it? Yeah for the most part it was a light and fluffy romance and sometimes that's what you want.

Is my cheeseburger macaroni done? Yep. Perfect timing.

cute but still nothing special

I liked this kdrama and finished it quickly.I like both the main leads and loved the story and how it ended.

The thing is . the chemistry was missing ! I know. hes younger than her and looks very young to be a director ,but still. She seemed way more mature than him.like of course, probably because shes older but in my opinion the age gap was just too much

When I first saw some short clips i loved the idea but while watching it , it seemed like they were brother and sister! she rejected him so harshly and rudly and it should have stayed that way.lit felt like the FL was babysitting him !
it was childish for me and I hated how he had to hide everything from his grandma like ,she was acting like he was doing drūgs or something it was too much!! Its obvious no one should be embarrassed about liking viedeo games or rock music at an "old age"(twenties).Nowdays no one cares abt such things and most people love such games and music.
would not watch again.

really weird

This one was a solid 6. Idk, it wasn't really my thing. It was fine while watching, but after watching it I feel like there was nothing really outstanding about it and wondered why I watched it at all. Now I'm gonna directly quote another review I saw: "What’s even more confusing is the fact I actually finished it, and I did not even have to force myself to watch it. Not many things worked in this show, but somehow I still kept watching the next episodes. Don’t know what weird spell this show put on me, but it worked." This is 100% relatable to me and put my feeling after watching it directly into words. I didn't have to make myself watch it like I do with other not-that-good dramas, but in the end they were the same quality of product. I feel like Baek Su-jeong and Ban Ju-yeon did not fit together at all whatsoever. The maturity of Su-jeong and the immaturity of Ju-yeon did not click whatsoever. Idk what the 'magic' in this drama that keeps you watching but in the end you realize you shouldn't have wanted to keep watching is, but overall: don't recommend. You can watch it if you want and you won't suffer, but in the end you probably won't enjoy it. (Ignore my rating for music, unless it's really good I just put a two for everything)

My Dearest Nemesis – From online crush to awkward office fate

🔹 A teenage crush gone wrong resurfaces years later, when the boy behind the screen becomes the boss across the desk

📕Overview
🔹 12 episodes, modern romantic comedy
🔹 Adapted from the webtoon He’s a Black Dragon
🔹 Moon Ga-young plays Baek Su-jeong, who once fell hard for an online gamer called “Black Dragon” in high school
🔹 Choi Hyun-wook plays Ban Ju-yeon, an awkward middle schooler turned confident head of strategic planning at Yongseong Department Store.
🔹 It begins when Su-jeong realizes her new boss is the same boy who embarrassed her years ago, forcing her to face old wounds and the possibility of something new

🌸How It Felt Watching
🔹 Sweet and nostalgic, like revisiting a teenage memory you thought you’d buried
🔹 At first awkward and cautious, their vibe gradually becomes playful, marked by teasing glances and shy smiles.
🔹 Some story beats were predictable, and the pacing slowed midway, but the warmth carried through
🔹 Themes of first love, grudges that linger, and love that grows when you least expect it

✨ Cast & Acting
🔹 Moon Ga-young plays Su-jeong, a witty character confronting her past while learning to move on.
🔹 Choi Hyun-wook brilliantly portrays Ju-yeon, a poised and capable character, showing us that anyone can transform past struggles
🔹 The office team and family brought humor and warmth, though some side arcs wrapped up quickly.

🎞️ Production Style
🔹 Bright, modern office settings paired well with the romcom mood
🔹 Little nods to gaming nostalgia tied back to their shared history
🔹 Some transitions felt somewhat disjointed, but the overall cheerful tone remained consistent.

☕ Tea Notes
🔹 What I loved most was how an embarrassing teenage crush turned into a chance to love again.
🔹 Would I rewatch? No
☕ SpillTheDramaTea’s Rating: 8/10, a nice brew, I enjoyed it
✏️ As SpillTheDramaTea, this one felt like logging into an old game only to find the story had unlocked a softer path
✨ When did you feel Su-jeong’s grudge finally start to fade into something warmer?

Cute Banter, Soft Romance, and Growth

My Dearest Nemesis is one of those dramas that hits all the familiar rom-com tropes, yet somehow still feels fresh and charming. It is not trying to reinvent the genre, but it executes it with enough heart, humor, and personality that you end up enjoying the ride. From the start, it gives off a light, fun energy, and even when the story becomes predictable, the way it is told keeps it engaging. It is the kind of drama you watch for comfort, laughter, and that satisfying romantic buildup.

What makes the story work is the dynamic between the leads. I really liked that the CEO is the younger one this time and that the female lead has a fiery, confident personality. Their relationship is not sensual-heavy romance but more on the cute, playful, and emotionally warm side, which suits the tone of the drama well. The male lead has to maintain a polished image in front of everyone, but with her, he can be himself, and that contrast adds depth to his character. Watching him slowly mature and grow into the relationship feels natural rather than forced.

The concept of the leads not recognizing each other as adults and falling in love again the way they did when they were younger is handled in a quirky and fun way. It adds nostalgia without dragging the story down. The pacing is smooth, and the drama balances humor and emotion well. It never becomes overly heavy, which makes it perfect after watching intense dramas. This one really feels like fresh air.

The chemistry between the main leads is decent, not explosive, but comfortable and believable. What surprised me was how strong the second lead chemistry is. They bring extra charm and emotional weight without stealing too much focus from the main couple. Even the side stories are enjoyable and do not overwhelm the main plot. The granny’s redemption arc was especially nice and added warmth to the overall story.

Acting-wise, the cast delivers what a rom-com needs. Expressions, timing, and comedic beats land well, and the banter feels natural instead of scripted. The drama knows when to be silly and when to slow down for emotional moments. It has a good balance of romance, comedy, and light drama, making it very bingeable. It has been a while since I watched a rom-com that kept me hooked until the end, and this one did exactly that.

Overall, My Dearest Nemesis is a solid, cute, and funny noona rom-com. It is tropey, but in a comforting way. Nothing groundbreaking, but full of charm, warmth, and entertainment. If the leads had a bit more romantic spark, it could easily be a 8.5-9/10 for me, but even as it is, it delivers exactly what a rom-com should: laughter, sweetness, and a story that makes you want to keep watching. Definitely worth giving a chance if you want something fun and easy to enjoy.

Fell for You Online and Now I Need a Decade to Recover(because someone’s real age is a plot twist)

🫰 VIBE:
Aesthetic: rainy emotional ruin with a side of family drama I didn’t sign up for
Energy: um okay, so imagine getting emotionally catfished and still thinking “maybe it’s fate?”
OST damage: currently crying to instrumental piano like it personally wronged me

🔪 PLOT:
⚠️ No spoilers. Just pure madness.
So you’re lonely, on the internet, trauma-bonding with strangers like any normal person, and BAM—you meet this dream human. Like?Blessed. The mystery? Tempting. The emotional damage? Loading.

And then- you meet in real life, and the second you understand what's happening, your brain goes missing and suddenly you're debating your choice, and why someone made the internet.

They even meet again in real life with no idea they are the reason why therapy is daily routine, and honestly? I was bracing for a chaos ride of "we’re both pretending not to know" acting job but nope, we went full emo mode. Like okay.

🖤 CHARACTERS I WILL NEVER RECOVER FROM:
🧊 Male Lead: Cutie Manga Interior King
Red flag? Kinda beige tbh.
Emotional constipation? Shocking lack of it. He actually talks??
Would I still risk it all for him? Yes. Immediately. No hesitation.

🔥 Female Lead: Chaotic but sometimes... a lil mom-ish
She’s fierce when she’s mad but suddenly goes into “I’ll take care of you, sweet boy” mode and I’m like girl... we were just fighting?
I wanted more “I’ll burn this place down” energy but also she’s dealing with inner demons soooo I’m letting her cook

🕯️ Bonus Damage:
The second leads?? No notes. No flaws. No unnecessary plot twists. Even their sadness was soft and beautiful. I would watch a 60-episode spin-off of them just sitting on a couch in silence.
Secretary: Okay technically a side character, but in my heart she’s the main event. That one cliffhanger where I thought she betrayed us? I was pacing my room like a tragedy drama widow.
Grandma villain arc: Look... she could’ve been interesting. Complex. Redeemable. But they dialed her up to 200% dramatic and never let her question anything and it made her feel like a TikTok comment section in human form.

💌 NOTABLE MOMENTS:
Scene that killed me: when they both realize the truth and react like two nervous goldfish instead of, y'know, actual people with trauma
Line that ended me: something like “does it really matter who I was before if you love me now?” And yeah, it DOES matter. But also no. I’m conflicted and crying.
Kiss that rewired my brain: not enough kisses, but the vibe?? Tension you could cut with a spoon.
Betrayal I’m still not over: grandma, babe. I need you to take a breath and maybe not torture your own family for sport?

✍️ FINAL VERDICT:
aka “Cried a little, healed a little, still mad about grandma.”

Would I recommend this?
Yes, if you’ve ever gotten emotionally attached to someone through a screen and now romanticize identity fraud.
No, if you’re already in therapy. This will undo progress.

Final Rating:
7/10 trauma reveals
9.5/10 baby boy male lead moments
6.5/10 fl making decisions that made me scream in my pillow
11/10 second leads supremacy
120/10 secretary slayage

Now excuse me while I lie dramatically in bed and wonder why I, too, haven’t fallen in love with a stranger online who turns out to be someone from my childhood. Manifesting.

My dearest nemesis

It is perfect drama if you are looking for something light, fluffy, cute and office romance with a little bit of enemies to lovers (or maybe first love to enemies to lovers). Cast and acting was really good. I only wished they did more scenes in game but it would probably cost too much.
Hmm I think that I will not spoiler anything in this review.
Moving on to actors - chemistry between everyone was really good and natural.
Mun Ka Young - first thing I watched her was Link: eat, love, kill and as far as I liked her there more she still did here great job and her character still was great. Her father was one of the best fathers from kdramas!!
Choi Hyun Wook - unpopular but I liked him here so much more than in Weak hero class 1 and in my opinion he had perfect chemistry with MKY, also his character was likeable, yeah he had his cringe moments but it is this type of drama, also loved his casual outftis and the ones with black leather jackets (more than suits but his burgundy/red was really nice)
Age difference is not a big deal, there are dramas with much bigger like No gain, no love - it was literally only 5 years here, pretty normal and they started dating when both of them were adults.
I really liked their game characters, because of weapons they reminded me one of my favourite animations Code Lyoko (they reminded me Yumi and Ulrich) so it was nice "similarity" for me.
Second couple - was cute, chemistry was nice and they felt really natural and normal
Support characters was also great, I would watch if they would get spin-off.
Grandma - .......well, yeah she was a bi*ch, I can understand mourning but blaming child was ridicilous, great that she understood that but still, she does not deserve to be forgiven too fast.
To sum up - if you are looking for some romcom then it is great choice.

I was disappointed to see some of the negative reviews about this series. Personally, I found it really enjoyable, the cast did a great job, and with 12 easy-to-watch episodes, the story flows at a good pace. Everything gets resolved at the right time without unnecessary drama or shocking twists.

The only frustrating part for me was the grandmother. Honestly, her behavior was beyond frustrating — the way she treats her grandson feels like it deserves a psychological evaluation. I know dramas usually have that one character everyone loves to hate, but this grandmother takes it to another level. I just couldn’t understand her!

Still, I really loved the series overall. It’s sweet, charming, and wonderfully romantic.

Perfection, I fully recommend if you like cute couples and lowkey comedy

I see some people saying it's boring, some saying it's badly done. Some talk bad about the acting, about the OSTs, about the "lack" of chemistry. They're ALL wrong!!!!! And I don't care about personal opinion.
This drama is great, incredible!!! I love the duration of the show and of the episodes, I love the pacing of it, I love the music, the photography (omg such a pretty photography!!!), the acting, the couples.
If you don't like romantic dramas, or lighter stories, this is probably not for you. If you still watched and didn't like, it's your fault not the drama's.

The only complain I have about the whole show is Hajin, and she's not even a bad character. She simply sometimes says and does things I don't agree, that's all.

Ban Juyeon is the cutest, most perfect character I've ever seen. He's straightforward and kinda blunt, yes, but he NEVER does it with the intention of hurting the other person. He clearly grew up by himself, the poor thing lacks some communication skills here and there, it's normal. Never in the show you see a major misunderstanding, it doesn't last more than one episode, and if it's Juyeon's fault, he will solve it out and apologize as soon as he can.
I love love Choi Hyunwook, and he nailed this character SO WELL!!!! He's mature when he needs to, cute when he needs to, his laugh it's cute, his crying is convincing, and he has such a charismatic aura omg!!!!

Sujeong was a great character as well, she's my role model, to some extent. She had some faults here and there, some moments I forehead slapped myself, but it got sorted out very quickly too.

I really don't see the lack of chemistry some reviews talk about. They were literally perfect for each other, before and after getting together, in and outside of work. It was extremely clear that they absolutely adore each other, and the tension before getting together was great as well. I truly can't understand what's wrong with those who say they lack chemistry, I can't tell what they were expecting from the couple. Did we watch different shows? Cuz that would be the only plausible reason.

Now, that grandma... God that grandma. She will stress you out!!!! She has her redemption at the end, but I still don't like her. Crazy good actress the one who played her lol she really made me hate the character.

Anyways, it's a drama I would completely recommend, and I'll now carry Ban Juyeon in my heart, in the section of favorite male characters ♥️
