The affair they were talking about wasn't between Pleng and Wan
'Affair' explores the blooming romance between childhood friends who grew up together in the same household but with drastically different social standings; one being the only child to the rich business family, Pleng and the other being the only child to the servant of the wealthy couple, Wanviwa. Some of my favourite aspects on this show in terms story includes the tropes used such as childhood friends to lovers and the interesting dynamics between characters. Besides that, I absolutely think that the best aspect of this show is the casting choice. Both Sonya and Lookmhee killed their roles as Pleng and Wan, all the emotions were properly delivered and most novel readers have complimented their capabilities and ability to potray the original characters from the source materials quite accurately, though I'm unable to clarify that as a non-reader but I can confidently say that their emotions and acting was solid as an avid viewer of dramas.
However, like any other ordinary series, this had its own set of flaws which caused me to drop its ratings. I'd start out with its plot which was the biggest let down of the show. Firstly, the pacing of the show is quite off as the beginning part of the show was so lengthy without much happening which made it a bit boring and draggy. Now, perhaps that's the beginning of most stories as it builds up to more complex aspects that will be explored later but for this show, they seemed to have been moving quite consistently up to episode 6 and then dropping like one of the biggest lore and wrapping it up within 2 episodes when the gravity of the conflict is insanely heavy. Even before starting the show, I was doubtful on whether 8 episodes would suffice and as i progressively watched, I thought to myself that it'll work out fine until they dropped the bomb that I'll like to name as the 'siblings fakeout arc' on us

Fantastic chemistry. Best Thai GL acting IMHO
Totally worth watching even if the ending feels kinda rushed and a bit of a letdown. The chemistry between these 2 is electrifying. Totally recommended and also a worthy series to rewatch again and again! Hoping that both Lookmhee and Sonya will see their stardom rise. Incredibly talented actors with alot of potential! Will continue to support them in their future series and to put the word out for them! Can't get enough of LMSY. Can't wait for their next series! Please make it soon!!!!!!!!!!!!Was this review helpful to you?

HATE it first, LIKE it later
Well, this series in kinda different from other series like Blank, GAP, TSOU, etc.If we know GL series always have a sugar daddy from the begin to the end, this series is totally talking about how to be rich for the one that you love.
Honest to say, I hate 3 first episode when they talk about Pleng and Wan young life. Pleng is a rich kid, while Wan is just a maid kid who is luckily, can attend the same school as Pleng.
But, everything change when Pleng parent die and Pleng decided to leave Wan.
13 years passed and Wan finally find Pleng. The love is still stong, even they have a different status.
Wan work hard to become rich, so she can save and protect Pleng.
Otherside, Pleng is keep feel useless and guilty, and what I hate most is Pleng also the one who easily to hurt Wan.
No matter how hard Wan fight for her.
I like the soundtrack when they sing it together. This series make me think at the first place like, ahh, Pleng is a straight woman ? Really ??
Watch this make me realize that one side love is exist until today.
We love much, we hurt much, and it is soo soo damn tired.
After watching this, I am wonder.
If we act like Wan, if we are really tired and choose to be gone.
Will we find someone like Pleng who will looking us ?
It think.... we will really gone LOL

SOOOO GOOD until it wasn't
At first, it was amazing, I loved the chemistry, I was so into the plot, but then it got progressively worse. I don't know what happened, but after the 13-year gap, everything went downhill for some odd reason. The acting, the story, even the chemistry.I was so disappointed when I finished it because they made my hopes go up in the first episodes and then got crushed with no mercy. It was good while it lasted.
BTW, the amount of TOXICITY and red flags, just wow.

Flawed but addictive. OST is a masterpiece.
Not going to pretend the series is perfect, but for some reason it has a hold on me and it's not letting me go anytime soon.Let's start with the things to critique
- The story felt a bit rushed, mostly in the final episodes, creating some confusion in certain scenes. Adding 1–2 more episodes could have made everything even better.
- It focused almost entirely on Wan’s pain and perspective, which often left the viewer frustrated with Pleng. After multiple rewatches, I’m convinced that giving more focus to Pleng’s experience [especially her practically homeless, orphan, and school drop-out years] would have enhanced viewers’ understanding of her and her actions. The series gives more opportunities to understand Ek than it does Pleng.
- Support cast is solid, except for Ek, which - i'm sorry but - is absolutely terrible.
- While I understand where it comes from, I don't love the - controversial? - scene on regards to consent.
Now just SOME of the good things:
- The lead actresses are FANTASTIC, no wonder they won judge based awards for it.
- Not always easy to find in Thai gl, there's no cringe at all for their acting, just mature and raw emotion. (Excluding Ek)
- Surprisingly good balance between classic couple paring/ship focus and actual plot.
- Even if a bit rushed, the pacing they set - specially for the first 3 quarters - worked well. They managed to pack A LOT there, without it feeling too much.
- Production quality was surprisingly good, better than expected.
- Every rewatch I keep finding new details that make me want to stand up and clap.
- I don't usually focus much on chemistry or steamy scenes, but for this series, hats off. It truly had me shooketh.
- OST and music timing, amazing.
- Enjoyed the sound mixing.
Highlight: THE OST IS A MASTERPIECE. Sonya really has talent and potential to pursue music and singing. Hopefully we get to hear more in future projects.
No offense to LM, I do wish we had a Pleng/Sonya solo version of the OST.

Genie - SNSD
Another one, thank YEWWWW! All of these series make me want to marry a female doctor cuz why they so bad..Anyway, the series itself is good, the storyline? A bit eh, I mean it makes sense but like there was so many moments that had me want to interrogate the writer cuz why why why. When I rewatched it I lowkey skipped a lot of the beginning just cause it was a little hard to watch lowks. Also, they need a better actor cuz why was that EVIL MAN such a terrible actor, holy crap, that scene where he's "crying" omg ijbol I could NOT take it FR. That just further proves LMSY are great actresses cuz I would burst out wheezing. It also should've been longer, the last episode was whatever to me, so much happened but not was explained like huh? Series was a little rushed to say the least. ILY LMSY and I think I prefer their recent series more, but I have a lot to say about that too.Was this review helpful to you?
twists, chemistry, and too many men
i started watching affair the series just because i kept seeing it everywhere, and honestly it did not disappoint. the storyline was super engaging with plenty of plot twists, but the pacing felt a bit off. some moments that should’ve hit harder got brushed over, while scenes with no real impact dragged on too long.the lead actresses were amazing and their chemistry carried the show. i liked their adult characters way more than their high school versions (probably a good rep of dumb teenagers maturing), though pleng’s adult version still felt a little short on growth. as for the side characters… too many men lol.
the visuals were really pretty and the cinematography was well done, which made it even more enjoyable to watch.
overall, despite the pacing issues, it was a really solid drama. i’d recommend it if you want a gl with strong leads, pretty visuals, and drama that keeps you hooked. 8/10.

One of the best GL series
I guess I won't be the only one if I say it's one of the best GL series we have at the moment.Starting from plot; I'm big sucker for Friends to lovers so no wonder I was sold from first minute. The side plot including Wanwiwa's trauma and what happened with Pleng's father was also great and actors did amazing job.
LMSY chemistry is INSANE, and I'm hoping they get another series soon because both Sonya and Lookmhee did spectacular job. Other actors also was amazing and tbh it's hard to find an actor who was bad imo.
On the other hand I find that "sisters" plot unnecessary and disgusting. Idk but I feel like author of novel have some weird fantasizes about "forbidden" topics. Also I'm kinda sick of homophobic mother/grandmother characaters in every GL. Like, been there done that, NEXT.
Overall; I adore this series and LMSY. Can't wait for their next project.

miss opportunity..
The story is too toxic and problematic for me. I want to give it a chance so i watch it but It's a bit too twisted and it revolves too much on violence and cheating. I feel like kinds of stories romanticize this kinds of things. Maybe a lot of people like this kind of things but this kinds of plot normalize this kind of things.Plus the ending is such a disappointment...

A mess but in the best of ways
I was reluctant at first to even watch this series as I have never been much of a fan of Dramas but was pleasantly surprised with this show. The story can get pretty messy sometimes but even then I couldn’t look away for a second, it’s a constant roller coaster of emotions. The best part of the show for me was definitely Wan and Pleng’s chemistry, it was off the charts.Though, Pleng can sometimes be quite a confusing and frustrating character, you like her regardless. Her constant inner turmoil is what makes her a very interesting character. Wang on the other hand, I absolutely loved, her possessiveness and cold demeanor as well as brilliant acting on the actress’ behalf made all the time she spent on screen, exhilarating. Great show, definetely rewatching.

horribly named okay show
the name affair makes you think the whole show is about an affair. honestly even the idea of an affair only comes into play over half way through the show. also there's so much heterosexual drama that i don't care about lol. ek especially was super weird and creepy and that definitely wasn't addressed enough.the actresses were great and i thought the plot was interesting but i genuinely couldn't get into it cause i was just waiting like "when is this show gonna be about an affair" 😭 i think the title gave me false expectations of what the show was gonna be lol.
wan also becomes very weird and toxic after the time skip and lowkey forces herself on her. it was honestly uncomfortable and bordering on criminal at times.
overall i think it could've been a lot better than it was and definitely has it's share of problems. i enjoyed it but i definitely had issues with it lol
