My favorite series of 2024! The best!

The series is based on Cha Planoy's novel of the same title. I have read the novel before episode 1 started airing and was eagerly waiting to see this series because the story in the novel is so good - full of drama, plot twists and a very genuine solid love between childhood friends, Wan and Pleng.

I have been watching a couple of GLs lately, some I don't even continue to ep 2 or finish because of cringey acting or unlikeable characters. But, trust me, Affair is totally serving natural, raw and convincing acting. No cringe, no awkward scenes. And, because of this, I have been obsessed with this series. Sonya (Pleng) and Lookmhee (Wan), the leads, gave it their all in portraying their roles and did the scenes wholeheartedly and without hesitation. Their intimate scenes reflects the passion, desire, longing and love that they feel for each other - and will totally keep the audience wanting for more. Their acting is impressive that's why I am grateful for these two for giving us such a great show.

The story, if you have not read the book, is very unpredictable. But even if you have read the book, it will still leave you wanting to see the next episodes. That's how good it is.

I think if you're a sucker for true love films, or for fighting for love against all odds, you have to watch this series. I think this is for everyone - straight and non-straight. It is a masterpiece.

A great show that doesn’t quite stick the landing

Over the past eight weeks Affair the Series has been a big part of my fridays and given me something to look forward to at the end of each work week. I deeply miss wanpleng now that they they have gone back to the book. The first six episodes of this show really showcase what a peak gl series can be. Intriguing complex characters, usually pretty solid editing and sound design but the best part of this show is the the lead actresses.

Sonya and Lookmhee really put so much love and hard work into this series and it shows. They have to be the best actresses that I’ve seen in a GL thus far. Whenever a scene called for high emotion the two did amazing jobs at portraying it an a realistic way. A standout scene that sticks out to me is when Pleng’s father kills himself and her mother goes into cardiac arrest. Sonya’s screams are filled with so much intensity, pain and despair that it geniuenly haunts me.

The chemistry between these women is just amazing to see. They portray pleng and wan’s love for each other in such a palpable way that even with the many flaws that both characters have you are still rooting for their love in the end. And that’s not even mentioning the NC scenes which are just. Wow! They have really brought a new level to GL love scenes.

I love this show dearly but it doesn’t not come without it’s flaws. The biggest two being the pacing and plot, which a stronger emphasis on the latter. Both of the issues are strongest in the last two episodes of the show.

The biggest issues having to do with pacing are in large part due to the episode count. 8 episodes was not enough to portray this story in a satisfactory way. Many scenes were scrapped that you see in BTS footage that would’ve been a delight to see in the show. Simultaneously however it feels like so much screentime was given to explore side characters. I wouldn’t be against this in a longer show but since this show only has a limited amount of time it was unnecessary. As mentioned before the weakest part of the show is the plot in the last episodes. It’s odd but in a way I can’t find words to describe it like some dialogue choices and character decisions just makes it feel like things are happening without reason.

Overall, I do think the good far outweighs the bad in this show. And if you are interested and haven’t checked it out yet then I highly recommend you to.

P. S. Pleng is babygirl.

Why the fuck were they siblings?

Honestly, only one thing concerned me and it was that Pleng is an absolute idiot. She constantly acted like she either knew everything or nothing. Terrible choice in partners on Wans side. Also disgusting plot point of them being siblings. However, the acting and chemistry between the actresses was amazing and worth the ride.

Great acting, the story is good but unnecessary ending.

I loved the chemistry between the actors and the story is very captivating. The OST sticks in your head and the characters are very well built. It was the first time I see something from Sonya and Lookmhee and I was surprised with their good acting. The drama quickly escalated and it made sense until some point.

The only reason it is not a 10 for me is because the jealousy was too much, it was hard not to see it as toxic. Episode 8 is completely unnecessary, I prefer to think it didn't exist :(

Okay, so it’s not great, but...

Let’s get this out of the way: If you’re looking for healthy relationship dynamics, Affair is not the show for you. Wan and Pleng share exactly one horny brain cell, and they don’t share nicely. If you’re looking for thoughtful and nuanced writing…Affair is also not for you. The plot is, to put it kindly, bizonkos. The character dynamics are pretty one-note as well—Wan is jealous and possessive, Pleng is guilty and repressed—so the script feels repetitive, despite the melodrama of it all. If you’re looking for something well-made and aesthetically pleasing, um, well, Affair looks pretty good at least, by GL standards, though a bit sterile for my taste. The soundtrack unfortunately is pretty bad, and it is playing CONSTANTLY. I swear to god a single conversation will have as many as four different BGM tracks play one after the other (and always the same four tracks, on endless loop). It’s as if the sound editors are allergic to silence.

But at the end of the day, there is really one reason to watch Affair, and that is the mesmerizing set-your-screen-on-fire chemistry of Lookmhee Punyapat Wangpongsathaporn and Sonya Saranphat Pedersen. Is that enough reason to recommend it? For me, yes. They are masters of the “I am devouring this woman head-to-toe with my eyes” stare. And, while the script might be objectively bad, it is very good at engineering situations where Wan looks at Pleng like she’s a big steamy bowl of noodles while their lips hover two inches apart. The tension is simply unreal.

The best parts of Affair are when the tension is at its highest, when it’s about how desperately down bad these women are for each other, and nothing else. As soon as other characters start to intervene, it suffers. I can accept one boring man being used as a pawn in Wan and Pleng’s jealousy-revenge schemes, but three?? Ultimately, with the focus on the main couple so tight, and the other characters so irrelevant, Affair feels limited—confined by the source material and the eight-episode format. It’s hard to believe these women have lived more than a decade apart from each other without apparently having any other romantic relationships with women, or making any friends. Their lives feel so empty aside from their devotion to each other.

If you can surrender to the fantasy, though, and ignore the fact that if this were real life, Wan and Pleng should be seeking psychological help, Affair is a fun romp, mostly thanks to the talents of Sonya and Lookmhee. I hope their next project is worthy of them!

spectacular give me 14 of them

this is my first time watching a thai gl series and i can say that i'm not disappointed at all!

i loved everything about it - the acting, the story and the chemistry between the two main actresses. it has the perfect combination between wholesome and steamy, i couldn't get enough of wan and pleng scenes i wanted more and more

my only problem was with the music that was really repetitive but i learned that since there was only one couple that's why there was only one song that was played over and over again. another thing that was kind of weird was the siblings storyline

other than that it is a really good series and i recommend it wholeheartedly! it set a standard for other gl series

my opinion!!

I've never been into Thai gls until I started tsou in late July, I liked it, so I explored more into the Thai gl shows, I've watched blank, 23.5, dream and when affair was released it was suggested on my YouTube and I watched it cause why not, I had no idea what goes on in it, or how the storyline would play out but let me say, right after watching the first episode I said I think this one would be a rlly good one, and man I was right I was hooked!!

after the 3rd episode I could NOT be patient at all to wait so I read the novel in 7 hours.

my point is this is the best show I've watch and the acting, the storyline/plotline is amazing, it has drama, emotions everything is involved and it's beautifully carried out in Affair.

Lookmhee and Sonya's acting in Affair is absolutely stunning, how they convey the emotions of wan and pleng, the longing need for eachother after 13 years being apart it's insanely good. They're so good at showing emotion that I could feel what they feel, it's beautiful.

For music yes, I'm literally obsessed with the OST that I listen to it on repeat on Spotify. beautiful meaning, great beat it's a great Ost song.

As for love scenes. it's great. no words. great chemistry just great omg. and the whole show is just a cinematic masterpiece sooo guys pls watch it!!

Rewatch value is 10/10 cause I've been rewatching since the show came out while waiting for the epsiode to come out, it's such a good show I'll definitely rewatch the whole thing after a few weeks cause rn I'm real sad about it ending and to rewatch I need to mourn the show a bit.

I'm so glad LMSY got another project together, they did amazing in Affair and I'm so happy they're well known now. still quite sad on how Affair being underrated.

SPLENDID

I love the dynamic duo of the two heroine.
Acting was really good.
Story was good.
Love Scenes? Top1 from all the GL's I watched. ( The moaning is realistic)
The two actresses are really comfortable with each other. You can feel the connection.

CONS:
Too much drama 5555, it's already the last episode but there are still lots of problems.
Maybe everything was rushed because it's already the last episode.
My goal now is to buy and read the book, I just want to know more about what happened to them.
OVERALL: I recommend. Will Watch AGAIN.

Review of Affair

The series Affair is a beautifully crafted drama with an engaging story and exceptional performances. The plot is deep and emotional, capturing the complexities of relationships, love, and personal struggles. Each character feels real, making the audience connect with their emotions.

One of the strongest aspects of Affair is the acting. The cast delivers outstanding performances, making every scene feel authentic. Their expressions, dialogue delivery, and chemistry add depth to the story. The OST "I'm Yours" is another highlight of the series. The song perfectly matches the show's tone, leaving a lasting impact.

However, the pacing of the series feels slow. Some episodes are quite dull, making the overall experience a bit heavy and emotionally draining. The melancholic atmosphere might not be enjoyable for everyone, as it can leave viewers feeling sad. Wan’s character, in particular, is heartbreaking. Her journey is so tragic that it’s hard not to feel deeply for her. She is a character that stays with you even after the show ends.

Despite its slow pace, Affair is a well-written, beautifully acted drama with strong emotional depth. If you enjoy serious, thought-provoking stories, this series is definitely worth watching.

The affair they were talking about wasn't between Pleng and Wan

'Affair' explores the blooming romance between childhood friends who grew up together in the same household but with drastically different social standings; one being the only child to the rich business family, Pleng and the other being the only child to the servant of the wealthy couple, Wanviwa.

Some of my favourite aspects on this show in terms story includes the tropes used such as childhood friends to lovers and the interesting dynamics between characters. Besides that, I absolutely think that the best aspect of this show is the casting choice. Both Sonya and Lookmhee killed their roles as Pleng and Wan, all the emotions were properly delivered and most novel readers have complimented their capabilities and ability to potray the original characters from the source materials quite accurately, though I'm unable to clarify that as a non-reader but I can confidently say that their emotions and acting was solid as an avid viewer of dramas.

However, like any other ordinary series, this had its own set of flaws which caused me to drop its ratings. I'd start out with its plot which was the biggest let down of the show. Firstly, the pacing of the show is quite off as the beginning part of the show was so lengthy without much happening which made it a bit boring and draggy. Now, perhaps that's the beginning of most stories as it builds up to more complex aspects that will be explored later but for this show, they seemed to have been moving quite consistently up to episode 6 and then dropping like one of the biggest lore and wrapping it up within 2 episodes when the gravity of the conflict is insanely heavy. Even before starting the show, I was doubtful on whether 8 episodes would suffice and as i progressively watched, I thought to myself that it'll work out fine until they dropped the bomb that I'll like to name as the 'siblings fakeout arc' on us

Fantastic chemistry. Best Thai GL acting IMHO

Totally worth watching even if the ending feels kinda rushed and a bit of a letdown. The chemistry between these 2 is electrifying. Totally recommended and also a worthy series to rewatch again and again! Hoping that both Lookmhee and Sonya will see their stardom rise. Incredibly talented actors with alot of potential! Will continue to support them in their future series and to put the word out for them! Can't get enough of LMSY. Can't wait for their next series! Please make it soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entertaining, but Lacking Depth

This series offered some good entertainment, and the acting was solid. However, the rest left me wanting more.

The main issue? A lack of in-depth character development. We're left with many unanswered questions and storylines that often feel **rushed or unfinished. It's frustrating when characters don't evolve or when their arcs remain incomplete.

The relationship between Wan and Pleng particularly bothered me; I found it clearly toxic. Wan is constantly insistent, both physically and morally, making it seem like Pleng has no say and is subjected to heavy guilt-tripping. Despite this, I must admit that the sexual tension between Wan and Pleng is remarkably well-executed. It's an interesting paradox, but it's not enough to redeem the core dynamic of their relationship.

One positive point worth highlighting: the character of Ek genuinely made me laugh. Their appearances brought a welcome touch of lightness.

In conclusion, while entertaining at times and well-acted, the series suffers from significant shortcomings in terms of character development and narrative coherence.

I don't recommend it
**Rating: 4.5/10**
