A drama with a predictable plot, difficult to watch until the end
My opinion: A drama with a predictable plot, difficult to watch until the end, and overrated due to the marketing strategy of disagreements between the actress and her agency. The plot is an adaptation of a web novel by Zhang Yue Ran, which was also used to film a drama focused on family tragedy.Loves Ambition is very predictable because it focuses on a romantic drama with plots of lies and the protagonist's situation, which doesn't represent a story of personal overcoming. The leads are good actors who deliver good scenes, but the emotional depth isn't there. The mystery surrounding the release date created an atmosphere of euphoria and masked the audience numbers, based on the expectations of a drama released after the controversy between actress Zhao Luzi and her own agency. I think that if it hadn't been for the clash between the agency and the actress, and the actress's absence from the set to undergo treatment for the mental illness that had emerged (in my opinion, largely due not only to the high stress of filming), but also to the high level of malnutrition she put herself at risk of to meet beauty standards and combat criticism from internet users about her image, the drama wouldn't be attracting so much attention from viewers. Unfortunately, the actress put herself at risk and used her presence in the entertainment industry to confirm that beauty standards are important. She wasted the opportunity to help other women suffering from bullying and continued and supported this disgusting situation to which women around the world are exposed with unnecessary demands regarding their bodies. It's a shame. People sympathize with the actress, but they overlook this very important detail that puts the mental health of other women at risk because the actress wasted the opportunity to maintain her authenticity and not give in to the aesthetic standards demanded by the entertainment industry. This cost the actress's mental health, because weight loss evidently depletes the body of nutrients that support proper brain function, such as vitamin B12, among other vitamins and minerals. Regarding the drama, in addition to this aspect of it attracting public attention due to the controversy that arose before its release, in my opinion, so far, with the plot's predictability, the drama is similar to other short dramas on Douyin, with the difference that this drama, "Loves Ambition," demonstrates a high level of investment in staging, costumes, and casting. I won't continue with the remaining episodes because I'm not a viewer who is fooled by the cast, but by the quality of the plot and its proximity to reality. This drama is heavily edited to present polished and softer images of the toxic examples used to support the plot, such as polishing the image of the individual playing the role of a rich and arrogant husband and the wife who uses lies as excuses to make the audience identify with a supposed case of overcoming childhood difficulties. Audiences enjoy watching romance, and this drama has no additional value that adds a moral weight to the story's ending. It serves only for entertainment purposes and to pass the time. In my opinion, all the events I mentioned above contributed to overvaluing this drama, which, in my opinion, is not a drama whose quality warrants watching until the end. I wish good fun to those who decide to watch the remaining episodes.

I can't wait for the ending
Finally another masterpiece,I didn't really count down the release date since its not my kind of genre. But im happy i gave a chance after seeing Zhao Lusi's acting in reels. The first 4 episodes were hard to digest, she was giving her all. Also little Xu Yan did give me a heartful cry.
Next 2 episodes were more like we felt how she turned to this cold stone attitude to Qiao family. All she has for them to be out of sight and never intervene with her but still she can't let them go as well.

Struggling to continue this drama but lost the battle after episode 4
I watch loads of C-dramas and so I want to be fair in this review. I was excited to start Love's Ambition firstly because of Zhao Lu Si (I adore her previous work) and because of the 8.4 rating on MDL. Unfortunately, after only 5 episodes I have never been so bored by a C-drama in my life. Love's Ambition has criminally slow pacing, uninspiringly dull conflicts, a dull, uninteresting male lead, a lack of plot twists, and a female lead exuding Cyborg-vibes while posing like a frail weed with an eerie smile across her face as she takes dished-out insults like a champ! None of these elements is compelling! Now I'm struggling to start episode 6 but don't think I can honestly continue.I love narrative styles that create quiet emotional conflicts and build long-term character growth with subtle shifts - rather than the more dramatic turns, sharper stakes and huge emotional pay-offs we usually get in K-dramas, but Love's Ambition's pacing and story-telling narrative structure is just dead in the water. And I'm talking as someone who absolutely adores loads of C-dramas like "Go Ahead", "Find Yourself", "The Rational Life", "Amidst a Snowstorm of Love" and "Nothing but You" just to name a few. If the first 5 episodes have left me unimpressed, i doubt anything is going to suddenly pick up after episode 6, so I'll bow out now and choose to be wrong on this one -- or right.

An explosive and unusual modern story.
If you're looking for a story with mature characters, good acting, and a plot so interesting it keeps you guessing about what will happen next, this is your story. From the soundtrack, camera work, colors, fashion, and acting, everything in this drama is perfect. These first episodes let all the actors shine, including the performance of the main character Xu Yan (Zhao Lusi).

Love’s Ambition: The Echo of What Remains
Finishing Love’s Ambition leaves behind a feeling that goes beyond narrative. This work carries a blend of tenderness, emotion, and unease that invites reflection on the nature of ambition, love, and the fragile balance of human ideals. Its rhythm oscillates between serenity and storm, and in that ebb and flow, it leaves the impression of having witnessed more than a drama — perhaps a quiet mirror of the passions and contradictions that define us.The production stands as one of the drama’s strongest pillars. Its refined aesthetics, the precision of its direction, and the atmosphere that intertwines the epic with the intimate create a cinematic sensitivity that captivates. There is a clear sense of commitment from a creative team that strives not only to entertain but to communicate emotional truth. Yet, in certain moments, one feels an excess of restraint — as if the work feared allowing emotion to spill beyond its elegant frame. Still, that very containment lends it a melancholic grace, and paradoxically, makes it feel more human.
At the heart of it all is Zhao Lusi, whose performance reflects an ever-deepening artistic maturity. She retains that rare ability to connect through quiet expression — to turn vulnerability into strength. Here, she appears more introspective, more assured than in the early episodes, delivering a truth that transcends words. Her presence embodies the balance between complete artistic devotion and the longing to remain whole. It’s impossible not to wish that her light, so vivid, always finds harmony with her personal well-being.
William Chan complements her beautifully with a poised, grounded performance. His connection to his role — and to his co-star — feels natural, even seamless, forming a chemistry that sustains the story through its more subdued beats. Together, they bring to life a tale of trust, loss, and quiet redemption, steering clear of empty melodrama.
Among the dialogue, a line lingers like a whisper of truth:
“The truths we deny are the ones that later return, asking for tenderness.”
And another, almost casually spoken, yet heavy with meaning:
“A life built upon lies is as fleeting as a castle before the tide.”
Both reveal the heart of the script — its awareness that beauty and deception often share the same stage.
The narrative unfolds like the sea itself: turbulence followed by calm, loss followed by reconciliation. And while the ending offers closure, it leaves behind a trace of incompleteness. The secondary characters deserved more space to breathe; there was a world of emotion merely brushed against. That haste, though subtle, lingers like a half-finished melody.
Even so, Love’s Ambition enchants with its grace, its quiet introspection, and its sincere homage to Chinese culture — not as ornament, but as essence. It stands beside other recent productions that celebrate cultural identity, though here it feels more introspective, less patriotic and more profoundly human.
Beyond the screen, one can only feel gratitude toward everyone who made this creation possible: actors, directors, writers, technicians, and the countless invisible hands behind the scenes. May their effort translate not only into recognition but also into personal fulfillment and peace. Because a work of art is not measured solely in its numbers or acclaim, but in the quiet impact it leaves upon those who make it — and those who receive it.
Love’s Ambition may not be flawless, but it beats with sincerity. Its greatest virtue lies in reminding us that even within artifice, art remains a sanctuary for what is most real within us — the simple, unyielding capacity to feel truthfully.

Quase Perfeito

Zhao Lusi is back!!
