Very funny

If you have seen NGNL you know then that these couple were the pole of the comedy in it, their interactions were super fun and here they just raised the bar a notch and successfully delivered.

The mini series was super fun, it has a duration of a movie and they used every single minute well, acting was good, even the cringe parts were watchable and that's a good point.
We got to see the web novel everyone was talking about in NGNL and the perfect life Jayeon dreamt about, and the scene with her father sent a direct arrow to my kokoro!

What I didn't understand was the switch from YooJin to SangYi, I mean I know that Jayeon and Hajun (SangYi ver.) were end game IRL but the point in the story IRL where she had the accident and dreamt of the whole thing they were still enemies, The Real life Hajun was still the hater and she told him to go die just a few minutes ago, so it came off weird and odd that she fantasised about him.
Also due to that, now the scenes in NGNL was slightly changed or adjusted to fit her dreams, she was never "relieved" that he didn't actually die because of the truck, yes she didn't want him to die but she didn't say that she is relieved nor did she smile at him in the original series which would change the whole thing, because the first time Hajun saw Jayeon smile IRL and started to have feelings for her wasn't in the hospital so this kinda shift a lot of minor moments from NGNL that they could have skipped easily.

Overall abd despite the one point I mentioned this is very good mini drama that is very enjoyable and re-watchable.

Cute with a wild element

I didn't enjoy the ML's character in No Gain No Love but I did like him better in this since he was written as a perfect character. I had an idea of what the plot was about and it turned out to be right so there was no surprise element but I liked some of the comedy. It isn't as good as NGNL but it isn't bad. The story is fun and cute and I enjoyed the bold elements. I am glad they took us into the world the FL created. I would recommend watching No Gain No Love first so you can appreciate this drama more. I think the 2 episodes were perfect for Spice Up Our Love.

I also liked the secretary's character and how different it was to the parent story. He is a pretty good actor and did great in all the different roles.

I was really blown away by Lee Sang Yi singing 'A World For Us'. Didn't expect him to be such a good singer. I enjoyed the song.

The leads carried the drama all by themselves

They really got chemistry. And they carried the drama all by themselves. The plot is weak and, once again, it is carried solely by the leads. The fact that Ja-yeon has some intimate scenes with the secretary kinda bothered me. And that scene where the president catches her in the air was too much for me. But, like I said, they have chemistry so I endured.

However, this drama is empty and it brings nothing new. Basically she ends up inside her webnovel, as the FL, but the ML is not her teenage crush but the guy she's sueing for hate. In the beginning, the president doesn't believe her and the drama plays this for laughs, making her run away from him. Then, she convinces him of what's happening to her, he gets sad bc his life is fake and, suddenly, she falls for him. Seriously, it's like from one moment to another. After this, they get to spend some good moments together, until he gets in an accident, he confesses how much he loves her, and she wakes up from her dream. Then she just forgives him and that's it. End of story. The drama wasn't even that spicy, she barely has any hot scenes with Lee Sangyi.

I know this is a just a 2-ep drama. But I expected more. But seeing that No Gain No Love's ending was disappointing, this one couldn't be no different.

This is how spin-offs should be done

An enjoyable fantasy spin-off with the fan-favourite second couple of no gain no love. It's really enjoyable and sits at a particular moment in no gain no love which connects the 2 dramas really well.

The story is as wild as her novel 😂 and sets itself apart from other dramas. Kissing scenes are wild and comedy is hillarious

My Secret Romance meets Extraordinary You

This little spin off is definitely cute and ads a little spice to the original, giving us the viewers more of these two in a lovely display of cliches and things I have seen before... Which I assume is intentional.

An easy watch, short to the point rom com CEO webtoon parody, at ist most neutral. There to compensate us viewers who made it though No Gain No Love wishing these other two where the leads.

I am however not truly satisfied and wish they would have gotten their own series to begin with instead of being stuk as side kicks to the first drama.

But since it is to late for that I guess this will do....

Fun fact: My Secret Romance is a drama that I once started re watching by mistake...one that took me 2 episodes to realise that I had seen it before... So pretty much as forgettable as No Gain No Love...

Excellent Spin-Off!

The spin-off from No Gain No Love! This spin-off really shows how good is the second lead story in NGNL. The whole story is excellent and hilarious. HJH and LSY do a fabulous job playing both character. It's great that they made it just into 2 episodes, rather than a series of boring and pointless story. And apparently, this spin-off also explains the reason how Ja-Yeon fell in love with Gyu-Hyun in the parent series.

Though I think they should add 1 episode. It should contain the ending of the novel, since Ja-Yeon wrote the ending after being together with Gyu-Hyun.

I really recommend it! The story is very light and enjoyable. However, I recommend to watch NGNL prior watching this spin-off, so you can understand why Ja-Yeon really hated Gyu-Hyun so much.

watch for fun!!

Honestly for this spin-off you cannot go in expecting an insane plot etc. This drama is meant more for the casual fun perspective without much deep meaning. I went in just expecting some romance between the second leads but i was actually shocked there was a story inside.

It felt like i was watching a Mini-W series (W-two worlds). I also felt like there were alot of adlibs in the show. The way he kept emphasizing her name "SEO Yeon Seo" and the sudden superman moments. This show was really for a light comedy romance between the second leads.

Will re-watch because their chemistry is so good...!

Lighthearted Fantasy Meets Romance in Spice Up Our Love: A Fun, Quick Rom-Com Adventure

Spice Up Our Love delivers a light, playful twist on typical K-drama romance, making it an enjoyable but brief experience. This two-episode spin-off of "No Gain No Love" gives us a unique setup: Nam Ja-yeon, a web novel writer, is suddenly thrust into her own story, taking the place of her protagonist. This premise leads to plenty of comedic and awkward moments as Ja-yeon navigates her fictional world, especially in her interactions with the male lead, Kang Ha-Jun.

While the plot doesn't dive deep into character development, it maintains a lighthearted tone and fast pace, which works well given its short format. The drama blends fantasy with romance, and the interactions between Ja-yeon and Ha-jun are both fun and relatable, making the drama a sweet escape for viewers. However, being just two episodes long, it might leave you wanting more in terms of plot depth and resolution.

Overall, "Spice Up Our Love" is a delightful snack-sized rom-com, perfect for fans of the original series or anyone looking for a short, refreshing drama. Rating: 7.5/10.

✒ ☕️ Just Desserts °6.5° °good°

This is a 2-episode follow-up to the show No Gain, No Love-7.4, which is a medium-low IQ romance made just-for-fun. NGNL is a pre-requisite to this show; there's no “getting it” without watching NGNL first. In SUOL, we dive into the plot of one of Bora's novels. They cut from the novel to the scene where she faints and Bok Gyu Hyun takes her to the hospital. When she wakes up, SHE'S inside of her script as the heroine. She looks great with the long black hair, BTW. This 2ndary couple's is FUN.

Her novel's ML is based on her longtime friend (crush) Yeo HaJun, so that is who we see with the heroine in the opening scene. When Bora wakes up, she is inside her FL and the ML is not HaJun - it's that loathsome hate-commenter! They are still enemies at this point in the story. I'm becoming a fan of actor, Lee Sang Yi, and it has nothing to do with looks. He sings for the soundtrack too.

Awesome special effects augment one scene. She's in a bus and is startled to see him on a billboard. His billboard image comes to life and starts talking. It even breaks the 2D plane and leans down towards her, coffee in hand. Later, he flies through the air and catches her when she's in danger, in another scene. When they land, it's with enough force to crumple the pavement. That whole scene is right out of Chinese fantasy, which is arguably the best fantasy entertainment in the world. In fact, the plot is not unlike the absolutely marvelous The Romance of Tiger and Rose-9.8, where the writer falls into her script. In TROTAR, the FL is transferred into a character that gets whacked in ep3, so she must scramble to save her life and then complete the plot so that she can go home. Every move she makes creates a ripple effect, though, and her villain isn't as villainous as she wrote him. In fact he's…. Ha! Just watch the show.

In TROTAR, the FL maintains her autonomy. In SUOL the FL has bouts where she must engage in the plot (one steamy encounter after another), despite her desperate desire to not do so. She LOATHES The ML. Yet she can't push his lips away from hers. And she doesn't loathe what's going on completely. She's fighting against herself.

It's a bit of afterglow fluff. It could have been better, but it's 2 fun little episodes. If you like the main dish, NGNL, there's no reason you won't enjoy dessert.

Cheesy but fun

I haven't watched the parent story No Love No Gain but it wasn't necessary to enjoy this spin off
its silly and over the top but definitely a good watch. Its a story that makes sense as a shorter spin off as 16 episodes would have ruined it.
its somewhat steamy but honestly i liked the bickering and bantering and comedy more than the steamy aspects

cutie!

YAYYY!!!! i loved these two in no gain no love so ofc when i heard they're having a spin off, I HAD TO WATCH!!! this was rly cutiee, lowkey hoping for more scenes of what actually happened in the novel LOL but so cutie. i dont rly like how ha jun and the hater guy switched places. mad weird. but otherwise was rly cutie, but chemistry could've been better, the guy was mostly just desperate for her and not rly a main lead. UGHH i wanna read the novel myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also rewarched NGNL, theres a few changes in the lines!! I wonder if juyeon rly remembers what happened in her "dream" and thats what led to her falling in love with the hater guy IRL. anywho, cutie

Good Enough

Korean Drama '' Spice Up Our Love '' is a spin off of the drama '' No Gain, No Love'' and it proves that the side couple was actually the best one of the original series.

This time around, the relationship is explored through the lens of fantasy, as the main character transforms into the main lead of her webtoon. The story offers a lot of cute and sweet scenes, along with more spicy ones, that all work as fan service for the couple's shippers.

In addition, the fantasy element was well handled and worked nicely with the comedy one.

Finally, the performances were all great by everyone in the cast and the main couple had tons of chemistry.

So, overall, seven out of ten.
