Terminally ill main leads who want to make the most of the time before they die
“Mr. Plankton” the main lead goes on a literal and emotional journey, a road trip to find his roots
“Our Movie” there’s a personal or creative journey, main lead is making a movie, documenting memories, or living life to the fullest

Crying and more crying but still very lovely and that's what matters i guess (? ???? ????? ???? ?)

In both dramas, one of the leads is terminally ill and has numbered days to live. Melodramas with romance focus as the leads try to spend their remaining days with each other.

One of the leads in both dramas is sick and has limtied days to live. they fall in love and try to make the best of their remaining days together and live.

its been a few years since i watched doom at your service so i don't remember it that well but while watching our movie, it just kept reminding me of it sooo much (and now I'm planning to rewatch it lol). in both, the female leads have terminal illness and the male leads are a bit more cold at first but then caring. both will make u cry a lil but they're overall amazing dramas and i just realised they also both have the exact same rating on mdl rn at 8.4!

You may want to take this recommendation with a grain of salt, because even I have to admit this may be a stretch. There are few clear similarities between these dramas in terms of story, relationships, or characters, but I finished rewatching Mr. Sunshine while Our Movie was airing and somehow I just felt there was some kinship there. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. Probably the classic melodrama elements? Perhaps the rather reserved older MLs? Both are quite artfully made, though in somewhat different ways (for example, Mr. Sunshine uses visual motifs while Our Movie seamlessly edits in flashbacks and movie sequences). I think the writing also has some similarities—the scripts are not necessarily thematically profound but they can be somewhat poetic with foreshadowing or lines that make subtle call backs to earlier scenes. The stories have emotional poignancy and an old-fashioned romanticism.

Although set in different time periods, When Life Gives You Tangerines and Our Movie share a common essence.
The message that life is worth living despite hardships and even in the face of bitter realities like death, whether of people or dreams is the emotional backbone of both stories. While When Life Gives You Tangerines carries an autobiographical tone, Our Movie unfolds through the lens of metafiction.
Both dramas are rich in symbolism, visually stunning, and accompanied by unforgettable soundtracks.

Starting from the same premise “what would you do if you knew your days were numbered?” Our Movie and Way Back Love connect through an emotional narrative that divides lives into before and after.
However, Way Back Love unfolds through mysticism, an encounter with death itself, and deeper reflections on the past.
Visually, both dramas offer extremely satisfying cinematic aesthetics.
