Worth every single tear I shed for it!!!

Hopeful, beautiful, painful, heartwarming, classic, and real—no single word encapsulates the experience of this drama. Knowing the ending didn't diminish my resolve to dive in; in fact, I'm grateful I did. From the storytelling to the directing, the acting, the dialogue, the characters, the cinematography, and the OSTs, everything screams cinema!

This melodramatic story follows a terminally ill girl who pursues her dream of becoming an actress. She crosses paths with a once-famous director on hiatus. Together, they embark on a journey to make a movie: her first, and likely last, and his comeback. The storytelling is deliberate, neither rushed nor sluggish, allowing you to savor each episode quietly. It's a delicate dance of words and emotions, where every story, character, line, and event unfolds with grace.

"Jeon Yeo-been's portrayal of Lee Da-eum was nothing short of amazing. Her character was a beacon of positivity, embracing life despite her illness. She remained hopeful, bright, and vibrant, a character you'd root for, and one that both hurts and warms you.

Namkoong Min's portrayal of Je-ha was equally perfect. His nuanced acting shone through, expressing so much with subtle gestures and expressive eyes. He didn't overact but delivered a complex character. Je-ha was often gloomy, yet he wasn't purely cold or warm; he was both, with his own shortcomings.

The other characters were also excellent, with a special mention for Seo-young. She was flawed but complex, eliciting both love and frustration. Yet, her character underwent the most realistic development. These characters elevated an already amazing show, making it even more beautiful."

"The romance in this show was beautiful. It was a slow, yet not too slow, burn, mutual and delicate. The romance had a distinct Melo touch, as two people meet to make a movie and slowly fall for one another, all while one of them is facing a terminal illness. The emotions that come with that kind of love story are palpable.

The chemistry between the leads was the cherry on top. They had a subtle, beautiful, and natural chemistry that flowed through even the smallest scenes and conversations. It felt effortless, yet deeply moving.

The ending... Even with just the synopsis, you could have an idea of what's coming. You think you've emotionally prepared yourself, but then you realize you've become too attached, and you're not ready. We're literally experiencing the same emotions as the characters. You know the end is near, and you think you're ready, but when it arrives, you realize you weren't, and you're already in too deep.

The ending was exactly as expected, and it still crushed me, as I knew it would. But what truly matters is the journey, right? Overall, this drama is beautiful, painful, yet beautiful. It's the kind of show you get lost in, savoring it slowly, a step at a time. You get attached to the characters and their stories, appreciating the beauty in every moment.

I wholeheartedly recommend this show to those looking for amazing storytelling, acting, and everything in between. Yes, it's sad, but it's definitely worth it. At least, it was for me."

One of the best melodramas I've seen for the past decade

The subtle gestures and microexpressions of the leads (particularly Nam Goongmin) are just stunning and perfectly timed. Cinematography and OST also fit so well with the intensity of emotions.

Plot is very much cliché and we expect the angst so not much surprises on how it progressed - but it's the delivery of lines, flowy dialogue and the execution of scenses, it's such an art.

Nam Goongmin never disappoints - he may seem monotonous but the development of his character while taking the courage to love is something to look forward to in every episode. Jeon Yeobeen's also a natural - she still got moee to give especially with the comedic timing but she gave justice to the terminally ill character.

I rarely finish kdrama episodes without much skipping - since this is a slice of life / slowburn type, made me enjoy every moment of it (up to the point of pushing me to finally create an acct here after yeaaars).

A classic in the making

Hits all the right spot of what you want in show : acting, leads chemistry, directing, ost, and cinematography.

The chemisty of the whole cast blends well with the whole them and atmosphere.

I could not ask for more. The only thing they could improve is this should have been 16 episode drama.

Poetry on screen

This may be a done and dusted genre but it still tugs at people's hearts every single time - the cast is just perfect and my favourite song Mimi is on a loop on my music player. Thought I will watch this series after all the episodes come out but my situation made me jump on it much earlier and I cannot have enough of it. Both ML and FL have been my favourites ever since I watched their dramas - FL nails it every single time. I dont have to say about the legendary ML. Namkoong Min rescued me when I watched Hot Stove League while I was battling self-blame, now he rescues me again as I have a terminally ill patient in my family. Call it serendipity but many a time Kdramas have rescued me from spiralling on my own.
Will treasure this series.
Like the FL says, give me more sadness. Life's like that.

Live each day as you've been given. And do it shamelessly

SYNOPSIS

This is a drama that highlights the gripping reality of dying and the raw emotions that tag along. Daeum, the FL, has only months to live, but chooses to spend what little time she has left acting in what would be her first and last film. The male lead, Lee Jeha is a director who struggles to escape the large shadow his father, also a director, created before his passing. His dark world changes when he meets Daeum and casts her in a movie. What follows is a not just a love story, but a story and celebration of the human life and its precious and fragile nature.

My Thoughts

I know many drama watchers want escapism. You want romance, happy moments and a happy ending that'll leave you feeling hopeful. I know you may think that the last thing you need is to watch a drama about someone with a terminal illness. The premise may remind you of a loved one who passed or maybe get you to reflect on your own mortality. But you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you skip out on watching Our Movie.

Our Movie is the type of grounded melodrama that makes you to see life through the eyes of someone whose dying and those who surround her. At times it's painful to watch, but it's also joyful. But of course, no matter what emotion the scene is trying to convey, there's always the somber calm that lurks in the background in every scene. There's something as frightening as it is predictable waiting for us at the end of the drama: The knowledge that we know how it's going to end. And that scares us. It makes us brace for the impact. We know there's only one way for the story to conclude.

But it's not as sad as it all sounds. It's actually pretty normal. What I just described is life, right? In life, there's pain, sorrow and joy littered about like confetti. There's also the inescapable truth that we will die someday. There's only one way out of this. But Our Movie doesn't portray everything is such a way that makes us fearful of what's to come. Instead, it teaches us how to live in moment. It teaches us how to "live each day as you've been given."

Oh and some thoughts that I forgot to add:

There are no bad guys or good guys which I like. There are just people caught in a major toxic "main character syndrome" type of cycle. You know what I'm talking about: every character projects their insecurities and worries onto others because they feel a persons actions personally affected them and only them. "They must hate me. How could they do this to me?! That bitch thinks they're the main character."

There are a lot of moments where the mean-girl archetype would lash out while we the audience sat back and said "gurl if only you knew how little this situation has to do with you!" I think this is a great example of how little we know about what anyone is going through. Everyone at some point (Unless you're like me and avoid socialization) has walked around thinking someone hated you or were the hater yourself. Even as I type this, someone could be hating on you right now! And you'll never know why. All of it is just projecting. I mean, unless you have a legit reason to hold a grudge against someone or vice versa. In which case, ignore this. Anyway, the drama excellently highlighted how petty we can be only for something like impending death to wake us up to what truly matters in life.

Painful but beautiful at the same time. Definitely a must-watch for Romantic Melo lovers!

The first episode literally shouts what's going to come: heartbreak, pain, and, most important, LOVE.

If you're familiar with Korean melodramas or Ktraumas, you will know how this is.
Two people from two different worlds are met by fate. One is emotionally shut down, and the other does not have much time to live. Each is going to light the other's life, but they don't have forever to give or spend with each other.

The cinematography and OST are all amazingly beautiful. the scenes, the landscapes, and, most importantly, the songs used pierce the soul.

Updated Review:
If you look closely, episode 1's beginning is actually the ending of the drama. why?

Story:
A terminal patient with hopes of fullfilling her only wish to become an actress, finds the rare chance to star in a movie about a terminal patient directed by someone who has his own baggage of issues. The path is bumpy with so many problems, from her illness and those around her, to the ML being under pressure to make the movie happen. But the story goes on and these two also fall in love. not just a platonic superficial love, but a deep one that lasts a lifetime. "Our Movie" is made in the end and the leads get to watch it, one in this world and the other from the other side. Heartachingly beautiful.

The Cast:
I have seen previous works of Nam Koong Min and Jeon Yeo Been. Both are talented artists. I wasn't expecting to see their chemistry flourish into what we just saw. They literally delivered the best versions of Lee Jeha and Lee Daeum that will stay in the hearts of the fans for a long time. The second leads albeit annoying a bit, delivered the respective roles quite beautifully.

Production and writing:
Simply poetic and artistic. the colors, scenes, and the characters emotions conveyed is so deep in this drama. there are a few minor issues in the writing but in my opinion, these issues and faults are what make a drama so beautiful.

overall, this drama became one of the best of 2025 for me personally. 10/10 recommended to those who love this genre and this marvelous cast!

The Best Melodrama

OMG I’m already obsessed with Our Movie
The first 3 episodes had me feeling everything—the looks, the tension, the heartbreak 🥹
The chemistry is sooo good, and the story just hits right in the heart.
Episode 3 totally broke me (in the best way), and now I NEED more.
Seriously, this might be the best melodrama I’ve watched—I can’t wait for all the episodes!! 💔✨

I just know this gonna break my heart...but isn't life like that sometimes?

The premise isn't that original and yet this drama still grasped my interest thanks to the top tier acting and the palpable chemistry. It's a bit slow but the cinematography is beautiful. I LOVED the cam recorder snippets, the different use of cinematography practices, such as the black and white silence movie sequence, the 360° under the rain kissing scene. It all certainly adds to the nostaligic aspect of it all and enhanced the importance of memories and how, with the love, they are all that is left behind. It also feels like a acclamation to the seventh art, some sort of story into the story, which I appreciate a lot. Some interesting pictures too!!

Stunning music throughout the drama that definitely highlights the emotions and dialogues that seemed to be an hymn to love and life. My heart ached and broke but there was this utterly warm feeling too, because of Lee Daeum and how she lives her life and all those people gathering and moving forward together.

I believe, this was a beautiful tribute to cinema, to these people working in that industry, putting their life at risk but also a testimony of the medical staff that sometimes feels like family and of course an homage to love, romantic, familial and friendship.

Our movie is a warmhearted stunning piece that almost grasped the entirety of what life is and can be and I hope as you watch, you will remember that you are not lonely <3 Highly recommend!

This is a heartfelt story about a film director who falls in love with an actress who is terminally ill.

Love works in mysterious ways; some lovers elope, while others willingly forfeit their inheritance. In this case, FL's father warned ML about the consequences of being left behind, but ML did not hesitate to pursue his feelings.

What makes this drama unique is the absence of artificial misunderstandings, and characters whose sole purpose is to seek revenge. What initially appeared to be a love triangle quickly resolved without animosity. Those who seemed cruel and selfish were merely fulfilling their professional responsibilities.

For instance, the journalist who suggested that the photo he took of the protagonist leaving the hospital was scandalous, inadvertently caused the investor to withdraw his funding to protect his shareholders.

The scenes depicting declarations of jealousy are beautifully crafted.

FL to 2FL: I'm so insanely jealous of you. You get to have another movie, and another one, and another one after that.

2FL to FL: Actually, I've been jealous of you since the moment I met you. Figuring out why ML cast you as Gyuwon.

However, the best scene was when Jaein (FL's co-actress) recalled her jealousy towards FL: Must be cozy, just lying there to act. You lie there, frown a bit like you are in pain, and a movie with your name on it gets released. Jaein was so ashamed that she left without completing her audition for another new drama.

If you're uncertain about whether to watch this melodrama, I encourage you to tune in for the penultimate episode this Friday night.

As long as love exists, the memories will remain sweet and everlasting

What moved me the most was probably this part…

At the end of Episode 8, what Lee Jae-ha says to Da-eum when he confesses his feelings can be understood on so many levels. The dialogue was absolutely incredible:

“Whenever I’m with you, I keep forgetting so many things.
You were sick, yet I couldn’t even tell.
Even though there wasn’t much time left, I kept believing there was still time.
I like you, but I thought I shouldn’t.
I thought love was just an illusion… but I know this feeling is real.”

Da-eum’s father says that the worse Da-eum feels physically, the brighter she smiles.

Namkoong Min delivers a kind of performance in this drama that I’ve never seen from him before. While watching, I kept wondering, “Is this acting, or is this simply his real self showing through?” Even now, I can’t quite explain it. His portrayal feels understated and quiet, just like how the people around Lee Jae-ha describe him — someone who rarely shows much expression, doesn’t talk much, and often lets his actions speak for him. Yet those who have worked with him for a long time know how warm-hearted he truly is.

Although Da-eum is terminally ill, the drama rarely focuses on showing her looking weak or exhausted. Instead, she keeps smiling brightly and faces life with positivity.

In the real world, do people like Da-eum truly exist?
Can someone who knows their life is nearing its end really live so fully in the present moment?

I’m grateful to have come across such a wonderful drama. And I’m grateful for Namkoong Min’s healing presence, both inside and outside the drama — appearing exactly when I needed something emotionally reliable to hold onto.

Our Movie pays extraordinary attention to small details. It feels less like a typical TV series and more like a film unfolding over several episodes. The first time I watched it, I was so focused on the plot that I missed many of the subtle moments between the two leads. But during my second viewing, I slowly began to appreciate the delicacy of the storytelling — the gradual process of two people growing closer, understanding one another, learning to empathize, and eventually falling in love.

Da-eum, knowing she has little time left, holds nothing back when experiencing the first profound love of her life. Jae-ha, meanwhile, constantly restrains himself because of the conflict between his morals and his emotions. In the end, he finally realizes that this is a kind of love he has never experienced before — this is what love truly is.

Even the movie Jae-ha is directing within the drama gradually changes alongside the development of their relationship, until its ending becomes the complete opposite of what it originally was meant to be:

“Life is finite. Eventually, everyone must say goodbye to the people they love and who love them. But as long as love exists, the memories we leave behind will remain sweet and everlasting.”
