Surely Not Together
This was pretty bad and the only redeeming quality it had was the acting, that's about it. I started watching it mostly because I like Park Seo Joon and he has done stuff I enjoyed but I think this might be the weakest kdrama of his I've seen (not in his acting but overall).Maybe it's because I've watched my fair share of kdramas at this point or maybe because I've actually never been into it, but I'm getting at my limit of CEO's, rich and other chaebol people as main characters or romantic interests, it makes it very difficult for me to sympathise with their supposed struggles when they're crying while holding a Louis Vuitton bag in their hands, even more so when their sorrows are self inflicted, like in here.
I think their claims of this kdrama to be more realistic than others end with their separate personalities and the portrayal on the difficulties of getting divorced due to patriarchal systems. Yes, people like the main characters exist, but it's not like characters in other kdramas are unrealistic, there are plenty at the same level and way better too.
Their relationship? sure, it can be realistic, it can happen. Problem is when they're trying for me to root for them when clearly they're in a toxic dynamic that they should have already broken up for good a long time ago. ML should have moved on already when she just left him without explaining herself, her excuses are as weak as their relationship.
We're seeing here a woman that conveniently remembers the guy when she's in need of him, that is entitled and egotistical, and a guy that is a hopeless romantic and gets easily manipulated. Realistic? Sure! but not exactly a relationship I personally like to watch, less idiolise or think that it's nice and beautiful. If I was his friend I would be telling him to move on and go to therapy because he has clearly a bad case of dependency and unhealthy idealisation. If I was her friend, I would no longer be because I would have told her I'm not a fan of how she's using the guy and dropping him when convenient and making him do whatever she wants. All their breakups are pretty stupid and nonsensical, for people that technically wants to stay together that is. Realistic because she's not going to blow up her entire career for him? sure, realistic because he leaves his life and goes one year abroad to get space? not so much. All people around them also enable their relationship and no one seems to see the problems, not even their closest friends....okeeey.
In the constraints of ML character's portrayal is kinda realistic he didn't have any other partner because he was that obsessed with FL, but realistically in the real world? no. In real life if he had been that level obsessed to not get with anyone else probably he would have become a stalker or would have tried to end his life. Harsh, but let's be honest, his dependency of her passed as love is not exactly healthy. But anyway, this is kind of contradictory because it was not realistic in the drama that he would only obsess about her when she was around but seemingly he was capable and ok of letting her live her life when she was not around. Both of them use this IN-OUT in the relationship all the time, but it's not very realistic (especially on his side) with that level of dependency.
They have good times together, but they're very ready (when I say "they" here I mean mostly her though) to drop the other at the minimal inconvenience instead of talking to one another and deciding things together. Realistic? maybe in some doomed relationships, but either way not exactly a portrayal of a long lasting or meant-to-be relationship.
So overall, I think their portrayal of the relationship is ok on trying to show nuanced characters and a non healthy relationship, but again, the problem is when it's spoon fed to the audience as a healthy or fated relationship and trying for you to sympathise with their struggles (that they inflected on themselves), then I do have a problem with it. It's almost like they're trying to say that because they have been together and broken up so many times that that makes them fated lovers. I don't personally like it.
The plot is very thin and drags a lot. It's curious that I found the last episode of the series a lot more entertaining than any other in the series, mostly because it was more dynamic with seeing more of his work as a reporter, because let's be honest, the rest of the series he's pretty much just sat at this office table for a few scenes more than doing his job (and doesn't change the fact that most of the work he does is to help FL).
Meanwhile we get an FL that gets a position thanks to nepotism and we're told that she's good at it, even though she was not previously even interested. I guess the nepotism had to be excused in some manner.
Plot wise, FL's sister is more interesting, but even this plot was a bit dragged (paused at times for other subplots) and the resolution was not bad but not great, it felt a bit underwhelming because of how long it took to solve and how fast it was in the end.
FL's mother was presented as a conflict point at the beginning but then it was dropped and I guess the mother is amazing after all, a couple of words solved years of trauma of FL. Other than the plot with the sister, anything that came up plot wise on the side of the FL was kind of chaebol cliché and boring.
The last episode also has way more longing and feels than the rest of the series did for me, and it would have worked if the rest of the series had been different. One second you're feeling that longing, the rest you remember they're who they're and the history they have and you're like "I hope they actually don't find each other". But funny enough, them finding each other at that point would have actually have been better than what we got.
"Kids, your mother and I rekindled our relationship because our mutual best friend died and we met again at his funeral". Who thought this was a good idea? why did they kill that character anyway in the last episode? what was that??????? Bad writing!
Sorry to say at that point I started laughing at the sheer level of bad taste, it felt like a joke (this actually made me take half a point in my score of the series, you don't pull stupid moves like this 10 minutes to the end of the series). No, this specific move with the funeral doesn't make this more realistic. Them not meeting in Málaga? sure, although it wouldn't have been super unrealistic them finding each other there when she's actively looking for him, but it's ok.
Not like they could have made a million other reasons why ML would go back to Korea and meet her...
But I guess that since they couldn't just straight up start it and talk during the funeral (although technically she tried and it was not a cute move), they had to move the scene to the airport. Realistic? no, but cliché yes. Even ignoring the airport as a setting, realistic would be the guy saying "ok, yeah, let's talk when I come back maybe, as I said I came in a rush and I have things to wrap up back in Málaga. Plus I'm not going to waste the ticket I paid for, it was not cheap" (I mean, I imagine money doesn't matter in their case since she's loaded).
I guess this had the vibes of inverse Cinderella too in that sense.
Product placement is often and very on the face, I found it annoying.
Flashbacks with that blurry effect were terrible!!! It was...well... blurry, and very annoying to the eyes. They could have used a colour filter, a frame, grain , anything other than blurring the picture. I disliked every time there was a flashback because of this.
Overall I can't recommend, acting is good, there are a couple of cute moments if you forget the character's personalities and history but otherwise the writing/plot is boring, dragged, uninspired and their relationship is not healthy but presented as somehow fated.
I guess if you enjoy dramas like Lovestruck in the City you might like this too.

How second chance romance should NOT be done
I never really liked second chance romance (after all, what's interesting if the characters already know they like each other?) but then The First Frost came out and I realized how good the angst could be, so I tuned into this one, thinking it would be a great melodrama.Unfortunately, I did not click with anything here at all.
In the main leads' story in the past, the FL was just really pushy and the ML really bland; their relationship happens at the speed of light without any sort of good build-up.
And then in modern day, their reconnection just really made me angry. The FL is extremely self-righteous and rude, while the ML just sits there and takes all the snarky comments she makes about him because he's supposedly so in love with her still. It gives pathetic more than it gives yearning and I just cannot fathom a person ending up with someone who seems to have such little respect for them.
The reignition of their romance is portrayed as a "I just couldn't help loving you" type of situation, but it comes across as codependent and unhealthy instead of romantic. I ultimately just don't see any reason why these characters could, should, or would end up together and not break up again, especially since they just don't communicate at all, even until the last episode, where we're given ANOTHER separation and time jump that makes even less sense.
The plot doesn't help much. Corporate warfare is a very common trope and I found certain plotlines — the poisoning of the sister — interesting, but ultimately we end up with a hodgepodge of tropes and antagonists, none of which are really clear: the lady who is in jail, the mom who started out evil but then I guess was okay, etc.
The last episode was the nail in the coffin. They separate again and then are brought back together by a random side character death. While the side characters were just okay — they weren't memorable and lovable but also weren't annoying — it just felt very random and made it seem like there had to be an external reason for the leads to reconnect; they couldn't do it on their own. The final scene...well let me just say that excitement and big grand gestures such as an airport chase scene will never sell me on the feasibility of a relationship. It's too short-term and just doesn't provide much depth.
2/10 (instead of 1/10) because the cinematography was nice.

“Surely Tomorrow… But Not Today”
I had high expectations for *Surely Tomorrow*, especially with Park Seo Joon returning in a more emotional role. Unfortunately, this drama turned out to be a real disappointment for me. Despite a polished atmosphere and a promising cast, I never managed to emotionally invest in the story. The relationship between Lee Gyeong-do (Park Seo Joon) and Seo Ji-woo (Won Ji-an) is supposed to be the heart of the narrative, but it left me indifferent. Their breakup, built on unspoken words and differing life choices, lacks real impact. Everything feels too smooth, too restrained, as if the drama deliberately refused to confront its emotions. Conflicts are never fully addressed, making their separation frustrating rather than moving.
Park Seo Joon does what he can with the material given to him. His performance is fine, sometimes subtle, but his character keeps going in circles. His struggles become repetitive and eventually tiresome. As for Seo Ji-woo, she could have been a strong character, but the story reduces her too often to her past romance, without giving her any meaningful personal development.
Their reunion, which I had been looking forward to, ended up being one of the drama’s biggest weaknesses for me. It lacks tension, confrontation, and, above all, emotional sincerity. Important discussions are avoided, wounds are barely explored, and the final decisions fail to generate any strong emotion or satisfaction.
The slow and sometimes empty pacing doesn’t help either. Many scenes drag unnecessarily, giving the impression that the drama is trying to fill time rather than tell something meaningful. In the end, I felt no deep attachment to the characters and no genuine emotion.
In summary, *Surely Tomorrow* is a drama I did not enjoy. It’s not disastrous, but it’s bland, predictable, and too cautious to leave a lasting impression. Even Park Seo Joon’s presence wasn’t enough to save a story that sorely lacked audacity and emotional depth.
A viewing I will have no trouble forgetting.

SURELY TOMORROW
I am so glad I found this thread because for all twelve episodes, I felt like I was being gaslighted into thinking that the FL and the ML are not inside a toxic, emotionally abusive relationsship.I mean broken FLs are mostly adorable but to make this FL depressed, abused child, druggie, suicidal, got married to a random drug addict, and ghosts the ML for the stupidest reasons and then comes back when it's convenient, does not give the ML anything but only recieves, letting the ML suspend his life just to help her with all her problems? Now they're trying to redeem the woman in an episode or two?
I mean what kind of person leaves a man twice with the shallowest excuses. And the writer really thought ahe would still be loveable. Most of the audiences are women and more than half of them had been trapped in abusive relationships that they worked so hard to get out of.
And to use the talented Park Seo Jun to gaslight the audience into thinking that this is a fated and healthy relationship. I mean PSJ, I know his character in Gyeongseong creature effectively longed for the FL for 75 years but it was an effin fantasy. This one is supposed to be built on reality. What with all the celibate MLs?
And please don't say that Gyeongdo chose to be a virgin since college because that's what the show has inferred. Is it biplogically, physically, emotionally possible for any man to do that?
And don't get me started with the FL, where is the damn shame? Leaving a man crying his heart out with alcoholism. And she didn't know it will affect him when she left just when he needed her while his father is in the hospital? She's the poster girl for emotional abuse and I don't like that she is the heroine of thia story, not the villain who the ML needs to move on from to find his true love.
And to add insult to injury, she is now the one pining and chasing on the ML right after she got dumped. Typical manipulative moves of a narciccist when her supply tries to leave her.
I mean, does the writer even read up about narcs and abusive behaviour? Surely she is well-read. And surely she researched this character.
I mean Gyeongdo was doing fine in Malaga and has no plans to return just yet. The writer then k*lls off the friend who stayed with the ML all those years he was recovering from the stonewalling he got from the FL. Mind you, Choi Woo Shik is the name of Park Seo Jun's best friend in real life. No wonder PSJ's acting was personal in the funeral scene. This writer is demented.
The friends and parents are all enablers for letting their loved one still have a relationshop with this FL. Even in the ending, Gyeongdo agreed when the FL said he might not want kids because he is afraid they will end up like her.
I am uncontrollably irked right now at the sheer st*upidity of the story. And how unbelievable PSJ accepted the script. Is the FL the kind of woman you want your friend or family to end up with? I hope not. All his other characters were kick-ass.
FL sucks the life out of Gyeongdo and when she's around Gyeongdo loses his dreams. His Malaga scenes looked really good even if he is practically a broke waiter because there is no FL baggage that he is suspending his life for. It is the FLs dramas he had to take a break from not his own.
What I am mad about is for the FLs behaviour to be dismissed as cute and healthy. Isn't kdrama supposed to give us life lessons? She is a glaring example of narciccism, c'mon.
I really hope PSJ learns from this and become more discerning of the scripts he chooses. Right now people are calling his character a door mat, and the more he sacrifices for the FL, the more it is interpreted negatively. Not all sacrificial love are healthy. Some are toxic and harmful.
Whenever I see the FL pouting on screen because she didn't get her way, I want to go punch a wall. All her struggles are mostly self-inflicted. She makes decisions without even caring what Gyeongdo will feel because he will still be there when she gets back anyway.
I hope instead this kdrama becomes a warning to women and also to men to learn how to recognize abuse when they see it, detach, and move on accordingly with a healthy partner.
Seo Ji Woo had no business getting into a relationship when what she needed was therapy.

Don’t pay attention to low ratings
Once again, people have, IMO, rated this drama ridiculously poorly! This drama requires a level of maturity and life experience to understand the complex layers of the leads. The FL had a lot of emotional baggage thru no fault of her own and the ML just got caught up in all of that. He loved her unconditionally and she loved him to the point of self sacrifice in order to protect him. That’s a familiar story, but whatever. Some reviewers tend to over analyze! Quite often, it’s just not that deep. I enjoyed the drama and I’m satisfied with the ending. Watch & decide for yourself! Was this review helpful to you?
Ignore any review posted by someone who did not watch the whole drama.
Ignore every single review from anyone who did not watch all 12 episodes--especially those that only watched the first 4 before bailing out. Their reviews are disingenuous at best. (Two pet peeves of mine: Posting reviews before a drama has even ended, and reviews from people that dropped it after only a few episodes.)It starts out very harsh, an alcoholic reporter wavering over the oversized glass of soju in front of him after just publishing an exposé on the drug-fueled affair of the husband of the woman that had broken his heart not once, but twice. The second time had sent him spiraling down into the bottle, and it had taken him years to put his life back together. The exposé, based on an anonymous tip, was threatening to dredge it all back up again.
The two star-crossed lovers at the center of this story are not well-matched. They come from different worlds--he from working class, she a chaebol heiress, who in her naïveté is oblivious to their class differences. Those differences become the source of much heartache, but it slowly becomes clear that all the two ever wanted was each other and the freedom to be together.
The cast is absolutely terrific, and the chemistry between the two leads is amazing. You feel the two lead character's love, longing, and pain. There are several other relationships peripheral to the romance that are very engaging too: The ML's relationship with his boss, the FL's relationship with her sister and the ML's parents, the Chaos family. All of these grow richer as they propel the story along. I also enjoyed the two guest roles: In something completely different, Go Bo Gyeol was almost unrecognizable as the fallen idol, and Uhm Jung Hwa was delightfully over the top as editor in chief. Finally, at 12 episodes, I thought the length was perfect. Very good drama, well done.

One of THE most UNDERRATED series of 2026 so far!
When people see bad ratings, negative comments they think: "It must be really bad."I always give these a chance. I was right again!
Is "Surely Tomorrow" perfect? No. Is it well-written? Yes. Is there any melodrama that is perfect? Not really. Other than the finale being rushed a bit, and that one MAJOR event, I didn't have any problem with it. Even that was just life. Was it necessary to include it? Well, it's about personal point of view.
This drama is NOT FOR EVERYONE! If you want another cute romcom where the characters don't have real-life struggles, just another fairy tale. Don't watch this. People say it's unrealistic, this would never happen in real life, even though there are multiple instances when a celebrity or a rich person has to break-up with their partner due to their families or backlash from the general public. Especially in Korea.
Our two main characters met as 20 year olds, fell in love, then life said otherwise. When you're young you don't know better, so they broke-up. They got another chance years later, but they had to break-up again because of much more complex reasons. It was totally understandable. It wasn't just another typical "I'm breaking up with you for your own sake" nonsense at all. The drama told us the reason! This isn't a Kdrama where you have to pay attention, because the writer spelled-out everthing, MULTIPLE TIMES.
Gyeong Do loving Jiu for 18 years, and not dating with anyone else is unrealistic? Not really. I could mention multiple people in my inner circle who did the same. Sure, it's not something that happens every day, most people would've moved on after the first break-up. Their love story wasn't just a typical kid romance. Maybe the first time, but not the second. Is Jiu a possessive or even obsessed woman? Maybe, but she's not toxic or a red flag. She's flawed just like everybody else. Just because she's a rich girl, doesn't mean her life is perfect. Her life was anything but perfect. She's a headstrong woman who knows what she wants, but because of her past, and the lack of love and care from her mother shaped her personality. This isn't me making excuses, this is just a fact. The minute she meets with Gyeong Do and his friends, she can finally breath, but it was always ruined because of a family drama. Doesn't matter how hard Gyeong Do is trying, he's just a young guy with no power. This isn't a fairy tale.
Their story is a prime example of what happens when people ignore problems rather than talking about them. Aren't we all the same? People always ignore problems, this is why so many relationships (not just romantic) end on a bad note. We can't really blame the characters when we're making the same stupid mistakes.
When they meet again as adults in their 30s, they're different people with the same feelings. That's why they can handle the situation better. Not to mention, their friends, Gyeong Do's family, and Jiu's sister are also helping them in many ways.
There's not much to talk about when it comes to their friends, because they're just there for them and that's all. Like I said, supportive friends, and that's a good thing to see. As for Jiu's sister, her story was also interesting and well-made. The writer could've done a better job with it for sure, but I don't have big complaints.
As I said above, other than a bit of a rushed finale, I don't have big problems with this drama. It was well-written, the directing and editing were good, just like the acting. Park Seojoon and Won Jian were great together.
What I loved about this drama the most is that it's a realistic teen to adult love story, and they didn't change at all. Even after multiple break-ups and struggles, they still respected each other, and bantered with each other. Even if the scene looked sad or melodramatic, they always made fun of each other or swore at each other, and that was funny.
Even if you don't like melodramas, the two main lead's chemistry and the way they're acting together is a massive postive.
"Surely Tomorrow" is an emotional rollercoaster. If you're not up for something like this, don't bother. If you can watch it with an open mind, and can understand a bit more complex characters, this is for you.
It's definitely worth your 12 hours.

In love with both the leads
I swear, the chemistry between ML and FL is mad crazy. They look extremely cute together and you want to picture yourself in their shoes in those cute moments. Acting and music is top notch. We all know how great PSJ is but how perfect Won Ji An is 🤌🏻. She looks extremely beautiful throughout and is fantastic in emotional scenes. But I have to point out a minor issue in the series, it would be that the actors don't look they aged that much from there initial meet up to the latest one. And a significant time has been mentioned for the period.

Our Beloved Summer in a new shell, i love it.
I am so happy i ignored the ratings and watched the drama.Unfortunatly, the k-drama fanbase does not prefer such shows, not even the korean audience. They prefer shows like True Beauty and Lovely Runner, and when shows do not have similar story they are instantly bashed.
I loved this drama so much. From the poster, the description i knew very well it's going to be a beautiful ride. If you are a fan of Our Beloved Summer, More Than Friends, and slow-burning mature shows you would love this one.
Now let's start with the review, i will keep it short:
I loved the storyline. Although the idea is not new, i loved the excution. The directing and cutting was so on point it kept me hooked.
I knew the FL was charismatic from Squid Game, but did not expect she is THAT good at portraying a character and living a role so well. Yearning is a word used for ML that express their consistent love over a long time, and PSJ did so well portraying his timeless love for her. And FL was so good at yearning, something that is rare to see from a FL.
I loved the bickering between them. Best friends relationship vibe. I loved that each past breakup was valid. I loved that they did not put excessive focus on her mental health. I was so scared that the writers make the FL super toxic and the ML keeps on falling for her. I am glad that was not the case.
I really really recommend this drama for kdrama veterans that love slow-burning shows, shows that are always rated low but when you watch them you find how amazing they are.

Surely Break Up
Surely Tomorrow is unfortunately one of those dramas that start off really strong but end up ruining everything in the final episodes. It feels like the script leaned way too heavily into constant breakups instead of letting the characters simply be together and grow as a couple.Honestly, the title Surely Break Up would fit this drama perfectly. The main couple might have set a new record — three breakups and eighteen years of separation is really hard to top.
Very quickly, the story falls into a clear pattern: a problem appears, the characters give up, cry, break up, fall into emotional pain, and then find their way back into each other’s arms… only for the same cycle to repeat again.
I also struggled to buy into the so-called “realism” of the story. The idea of a man who stays completely alone and celibate for nearly two decades, until almost forty, just doesn’t feel very believable to me.
What disappointed me even more was how shallow the male lead’s character became. Every time the female lead re-entered his life, his entire world seemed to stop existing. Everything revolved around her, her family, and her ex-husband. We learned very little about his own life after their breakup — his college years, or how he went from a theater club to becoming a reporter. Aside from the alcoholism storyline, he was mostly reduced to “the man who loves her.”
The ending itself didn’t satisfy me either. After all that pain and longing, a two-minute reunion at the very end just wasn’t enough. It felt rushed and emotionally underwhelming.
What truly holds this drama together is the acting. The chemistry between the leads was very strong, and I could clearly understand their emotions. The actors conveyed pain and longing beautifully. PSJ especially stood out — it’s obvious he poured his heart into this role. His crying scenes were absolutely top-tier and genuinely moved me at times.
In the end, it’s a real shame. The potential was huge, but it was wasted by repeating the same overused breakup-and-reunion tropes.

Quiet, Mature, but Slow
Surely Tomorrow is a quiet, slow-burn romantic drama that focuses more on emotions than on plot twists. It tells the story of two people connected by their past, meeting again when life has already moved on. Instead of dramatic confrontations, the drama builds its story through silence, memories, and unspoken feelings. The biggest strength of the drama is its mature tone. The characters behave like real adults—confused, hesitant, and emotionally guarded. The performances are subtle and natural, especially in emotional scenes where expressions speak louder than words. The chemistry is calm rather than intense, which suits the story well.
Visually, the drama has a soft and pleasing look, and the background music supports the emotions without becoming distracting. However, the pacing is slow, and some episodes feel repetitive, especially in the middle. Viewers expecting fast romance or strong twists may feel bored.
Overall, Surely Tomorrow is not for everyone, but it works well for viewers who enjoy realistic, thoughtful romances. It doesn’t try to impress loudly; instead, it stays with you quietly.

*******SPOLIERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS*******I liked the series overall but for me it spent was too much time on the flashbacks. This could have been a much better drama but it wasn't. It seemed like we were going to get mature adults but the series wavered through way too much push and pull and when I thought the characters has started to communicate more, and would weather all storms, we get a break up in the 11th episode. Not that the break was unneeded but it should have come 6/7 ep. I didn't mind them getting together in the end b/c on some level it finally showed they could be done with what anyone else thought about the relationship.
I thought the cast was really good and Park Seo Joon and Won Ji An were excellent in their scenes together. l liked the fact the Kyeong Do's mother was understanding about his and Ji Woo's relationship. She could have been bitter about this woman who destroyed her son at one time but she was forgiving. I also, liked that Ji Woo and Ji Yeon were chaebol siblings who loved and cared each other. I am such a fan of Lee El and she was absolutely fantastic in this.
What I hated the most was that the series spent way to much time on Ji Yeo's husband's evil deeds only to not show him be arrested publicly and just be in jail. That really pissed me off!
