Entertaining series (thanks to Lee Chae Min) but not addictive
PLOT: A TT about a star chef during the Joseon era. She encounters, on the wrong foot, the king (ML), a gourmet, reputed to be cruel because he's seeking revenge for his mother's death. She becomes the royal chef thanks to her innovations. But life at court is difficult (his uncle's plot, clans, conspiracies, etc.).+++ Lee Chae Min as ML (´♡‿♡) I'm not a big fan of Lim Yoon A, but for once, I enjoyed watching her.
+++ Well-written, coherent story.
+++ Beautiful cinematography and Korean OSTs (´♡‿♡)
### Beautiful food images, but too much cooking sequences! As if all life revolved around meals...
=> Entertaining series (especially thanks to Lee Chae Min) but not addictive.

Food Can Change People
The story is about a Michelin-starred chef who travels back to the Joseon era, where she must prove herself as a chef who can serve great food that has never been created before. She never thought that it was real until she found out that she could get hurt, and a lot of new era terms that they don't know. It became interesting when she knew the history and tried to change it since it could end badly. Was this review helpful to you?
Yoon-Ah & Chae-Min ❤️❤️ Good Watch!
Another time travel drama? Then I read, it is directed by Jang Tae-yoo, which made it a quick decision for me to give this 12-episode drama a try. Then to discover actress Im Yoon-ah, who is delightful in her role as successful chef YEON JI-Yeong is truly a plus. I really liked her in this role which allowed her to show how talented her acting skills are. Modern chef thrown back to year 1500. Yoon-ah is so good playing witty, intelligent and skillful Chef Yeon, surviving all the trials and tribulation during the tumultuous reign of King YI Heon.
Her chemistry with (last minute change actor for this role) Lee Chae-Min as King YI Heon is perfect. In his first lead role, Chae-Min oozes charisma as the tyrannical King who softens through time as he falls for Chef Yeon. I was so drawn into his acting, with his strong presence, his powerful angry moments, sometimes he grins, then sometimes displays shy demeanor. His suspicion and distrust of members in the palace to the pain, when discovering the truth, as the drama unfolds makes it a good watch.
Supported by veteran fellow actors, beautiful cinematography, the director ensured that the heart of this period drama anchors around creative dishes served royally by Chef Yeon. A fusion of traditional and modern dishes mixed with herbs and flavors. So colorful and vibrant, the dishes lit up on the screen. However, I did find a few episodes dragged out longer than it should.
But, nevertheless, the overall entertainment value is still good with a combination of love, hate, revenge, fun and fantasy, all played out by actors who fell into their role without a flaw.
I enjoyed this drama as it has most of the ingredients I seek. The chemistry between Yoon-Ah and Chae-Min is worth the watch.

What a Phenominal story
Very Impressed with this story line Hollywood is so known for the same old stories but this one was a marvelous excellent of time travel back in time to the present to historic period and romance every woman dreams of that a man would go thru time to find her I cried at the end, who wouldn't want that I am a hopelessly hopeful romantic Korea is getting ready to knock Hollywood of the map and they started this business I went to Film Editing School in Hollywood so when I say you guys keep the attention of the people you do I don't even watch American TV no more I only watch Kdrama's or Japanese or Chinese or even Bollywood films is even better than Hollywood but normally 24/7 Kdrama's either on Netflix, Viki Raketun, Tubi I don't watch cable regular tv or American shows on Tubi or Netflix their not interesting and tired of the same old story lines it's boring, So I find that Korea is the best at entertaining so keep on entertaining and I will keep watching I love the storylinesWas this review helpful to you?

AMAZING DRAMA
i loved this kdrama, I never watch historical kdramas before as I didn’t rlly like them that much, but this one just changed my whole perspective. from the plot to acting this drama was wonderful. only thing that I wish was better is the ending, as it felt rushed and they didn’t show us how the king came into the future, I think once they showed us that it could’ve been so much better, but at least we got the happy ending which they deserve! im so glad they chose lee chae min for his lead role, he fits very well into the role! Now how am I supposed to move on from them🥲, suddenly Saturday’s and Sundays are boring now.Was this review helpful to you?

INDEED A MASTERPIECE
* the references to king’s mother in every episode until now captivated my attention.. well there are many theories about it: 1. It’s simply casual that He just remembers his mother every time he looks at ji yeong. 2. There’s another reason why they are connected and we still don’t know 3. Someone said that probably her mother reincarnated so that’s why the gestures are similar and there are too many references. Can’t wait to know the real connection.
* THE ORIGINAL BOOK THAT GAVE JI YEONG THE POSSIBILITY TO GO BACK IN THE PAST IS GONE!!! well, I definitely knew that the king is the real author of that book but we needed confirmation and it definitely happened so now the older book is gone.. so this means that ji yeong can go back only with the new book ??? Will she able to do that?? Someone else said that it’s probably a time loop. He meets her and writes about her, then the book gets passed on and she gets the book and goes back to the past for him to meet her all over again. And the cycle continues… also, do you remember the missed page ji yeong saw when she was reading the book ??? Well, what was it?
• someone else also said that he probably will reincarnate in order to stay together in the present??? AAAA
* I also want to know what happened in the past too .. they are so many things im curious about.. + his mother’s past + who was the person who hit him in the first episode with the arrow???
* May I say that it always makes me emotional every time the food reminds a special person??!!😭😭 it’s so beautiful. I love so much this thing…
* THE KISSSSSSSSSSS???? Unexpected actually.. I SCREAMED. He won’t remember at the moment because he was drunk but he’ll soon and I can’t wait him to find out.. THE CHEMISTRY IS CHEMISTRYING 😌😌
There are so many theories in general , just hope it won’t be a sad ending . Manifesting good things 😭😅

Miscast, Misjudged, and Missing the Spark
Casting & Lead Performance:The drama’s biggest flaw is its lead choice. YoonA, despite her fame, lacks the presence and charisma to carry a story of this scale. She drifts through scenes without commanding attention, making even dramatic moments feel flat.
Story & Concept:
The royal court premise promises intrigue and grandeur but delivers predictability and shallow character development. The plot feels recycled, and the supposed “drama” rarely lands.
Age Gap & Romance:
Then there’s the elephant in the room: the eleven-year gap between the lead and the king. It’s painfully obvious and borderline absurd. The age difference makes the romance feel awkward and unconvincing, stripping the supposed royal tension of any credibility. No amount of makeup or styling can fix it—this mismatch is glaring and jarring every time they share the screen.
Overall Impression:
“Bon Appetit, Your Majesty” squanders its potential. The story is too simple and obvious, with barely any comedic moments to lighten the mood. A visually appealing setting can’t save a drama dragged down by miscasting and a lead who fails to dominate the screen. The romance is undermined by an implausible age gap, leaving viewers frustrated rather than entertained.
A drama that could have been sparkling falls flat—miscast, misjudged, predictable story and painfully awkward.

Satisfied yet unsatisfied
The ending might raise questions but I am happy that at last Lee Heon got his happy ending with his beloved Cook Yeon. But I would really love a special episode where we can see Jeonha navigating a 21-century life. I imagine Jeonha being flabbergasted by all new creations. I need at least a 1 hour 20 minutes long episode of Cook Yeon and Jeonha together. Was this review helpful to you?
