Fluffy and cute

Fluffy and cute. Not overly dramatic. Just what I needed. For once, they made the time travel make sense instead of something random causing it but never explained. Great cast. I want to try the food!

This drama tries to be the Michelin version of Mr. Queen. But Im Yoonah is no Shin Hye-sun and Yoonah’s overacting grates on me. The so-called romantic connection is dull as dishwater, not just because of Im Yoonah's exaggerated acting but also because the script does her character no favors. There is little spark between the two leads and the eventual kiss is bland. I’m dropping this like a hot potato.

Joseon Food Wars

I really loved it- the ML, the FL, the entire cast, the devilish villains and all that extravagant food... Really wish this adaptation could have been more like an anime spread across seasons coz I definitely wanted to see more of all of them😭 I usually do dig up on the source more often than not but this drama has really got me into the light novel(especially as I love stuff where you can see the skeleton of history lingering in the fantasy). The plot was very much a shoujo Nobunaga no Chef with a hint of shonen(Food Wars), all in Joseon style.

The ML was a standout! The side characters stole as much of the show- the bestest court lady Choi Mal-im, Geum-gil, inventor extraordinaire Jang Chun-saeng, the Ming chef Bai Long, Gong-gil(g.o.a.t) and the cute bodyguard Shin Soo-hyuk. How Gong-gil and Shin Soo-hyuk ended up with insane chemistry after just one episode was magic. And I really started to root for Gil-geum and chef Maeng to be endgame. Consort Kang was so beautiful and dangerous. And don't sideye me but ol' uncle Jesan was kindof sexy in a villain way- he reminds me of Scar and even Jafar.

The drama had it's flaws- mainly pacing and spacing out the stories. I did feel they took too long to only do one single contest with the Ming which while it had segments, slowed down the pace and this felt odd- could have easily been done across two episodes. And they could have added more- if not the other international contests from the LN, then at least more court or character development for the mains and side characters(especially secretary Im, inventor Jang, Gong-gil, guard Shin and the side chefs deserved more). Also more side quests or travels incognito. The ost 'Land of the Morning' is stuck in my head. I could picture it as the FL conducting the trio of the king, his guard and Gong-gil singing(to a very medieval european adventure tune). More outings with them... Really wish there was more than just these 12 episodes.

This drama started with high expectations due to the many positive reviews, but unfortunately ...

Sometimes a drama doesn’t fail because it’s bad — it fails because the expectations become too high.
This was unfortunately one of those cases for me. After being flooded with overwhelmingly positive reviews, I went in expecting something truly exceptional. Instead, what I got was a drama that started well but gradually lost its impact.
The chemistry between the leads is good, and I genuinely enjoyed the cinematography — visually, this drama is beautiful. The framing, lighting, and atmosphere were well done and clearly had effort put into them. On a technical level, it deserves praise.
However, by the time the drama reached episode 5, the story began to feel repetitive. The narrative didn’t progress in a meaningful way, and scenes started to feel predictable rather than engaging. What initially felt charming slowly turned into something dull, making it harder to stay emotionally invested.
I didn’t hate this drama, and dropping it wasn’t an easy decision. But with so many other dramas out there that feel more exciting and fresh, I had to let this one go. Sometimes it’s better to move on than to force yourself to finish something that no longer holds your interest.
This drama might still work for viewers who enjoy slow-paced storytelling and visual aesthetics over plot development. Sadly, it just wasn’t for me.

Good to watch

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is a light and enjoyable drama with a unique food-and-royalty concept. The chemistry between the leads feels natural, and the story stays engaging without being too heavy. The cooking scenes are visually pleasing, and the pacing is smooth. Overall, it’s a fun watch for anyone who enjoys romance mixed with food and palace vibes.

Great watch

A 4-star chef is sent 500 years in the past and begins serving the king. With her prior knowledge in cuisine, she becomes a type of right hand for them. The story follows the progression of their relationship, with people trying to ruin the bond they are building. She soon becomes the only one he can trust and her cooking builds bridges with others in the past. Though soon enough her time comes to an end, and she must return to the present. This was such a good watch. Honestly. I'm the type of person to only care about the main couple and no one else, so when villainous characters were introduced, it felt that they had way too much camera time. Though in reality every frame they are in contributes to the story and paints an even more detailed painting. I've seen people hate on Yoona's acting, but i would completely disagree. She played her part perfectly alongside her co-star. He also did amazing (people complained because he replaced another actor who was supposed to play him. The actor who played the trans woman in squid games s2.) But I can't see anyone else playing his role. I feel like he perfectly portrayed the king's coldness and distrust to a strangely dressed woman. Along with his confusion hearing other languages and tasting spice for the first time. You can tell exactly where he began trusting her and saw her as more than just a chef. Amazing performances from the both of them. I would definitely rewatch. Lastly, I just want to add the ending made me cry (maybe I'm just sensitive), but His performance was SO GOOD! so much so that it moved me to tears. It is a happy ending so don't be too scared to watch.

Entertaining series (thanks to Lee Chae Min) but not addictive

PLOT: A TT about a star chef during the Joseon era. She encounters, on the wrong foot, the king (ML), a gourmet, reputed to be cruel because he's seeking revenge for his mother's death. She becomes the royal chef thanks to her innovations. But life at court is difficult (his uncle's plot, clans, conspiracies, etc.).

+++ Lee Chae Min as ML (´♡‿♡) I'm not a big fan of Lim Yoon A, but for once, I enjoyed watching her.
+++ Well-written, coherent story.
+++ Beautiful cinematography and Korean OSTs (´♡‿♡)

### Beautiful food images, but too much cooking sequences! As if all life revolved around meals...

=> Entertaining series (especially thanks to Lee Chae Min) but not addictive.

=> Série distrayante (surtt grâce à Lee Chae Min) mais pas addictive.

So good that I was feeling hungry all the time!

Bon Appetit, everyone!!!!!!!

To have great dishes on every episode is torturing me! To have a good-looking king is also torturing me! I love their first meet in the jungle while Chef Jeon is looking miserable and confuseddd.

“To be yearned for, to be seen~”

That is the King’s trait. Always always yearning for his Royal Court Cook– Jeon Susu~

I am always loving the concept of Joseon kdrama. the cinematography, the slow-mo moments, the sound of arrows and swords flying, the so many scenes on top of hills and many more!

Please please give a try in watching this series as Lee Chae-min is soooo good with his acting especially when he is mad or cry. I feel like I have to pukpuk him.

A Heart-Stealing Period Drama That Hit All the Right Notes

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty – Review
I absolutely loved this period drama! The story, cast, and screenplay were all on point. The one who truly captured my heart was Gong Il, while Consort Kang was the one I loved to hate. I really enjoyed how the ML was always there for her—quietly protective and sincere—and how his feelings grew over time. My heart skipped a beat when he appeared in that black suit at the climax. It’s been so long since I’ve watched a period drama this satisfying!
I would definitely recommend to watch this..

Yoon-Ah & Chae-Min ❤️❤️ Good Watch!

Another time travel drama? Then I read, it is directed by Jang Tae-yoo, which made it a quick decision for me to give this 12-episode drama a try.

Then to discover actress Im Yoon-ah, who is delightful in her role as successful chef YEON JI-Yeong is truly a plus. I really liked her in this role which allowed her to show how talented her acting skills are. Modern chef thrown back to year 1500. Yoon-ah is so good playing witty, intelligent and skillful Chef Yeon, surviving all the trials and tribulation during the tumultuous reign of King YI Heon.

Her chemistry with (last minute change actor for this role) Lee Chae-Min as King YI Heon is perfect. In his first lead role, Chae-Min oozes charisma as the tyrannical King who softens through time as he falls for Chef Yeon. I was so drawn into his acting, with his strong presence, his powerful angry moments, sometimes he grins, then sometimes displays shy demeanor. His suspicion and distrust of members in the palace to the pain, when discovering the truth, as the drama unfolds makes it a good watch.

Supported by veteran fellow actors, beautiful cinematography, the director ensured that the heart of this period drama anchors around creative dishes served royally by Chef Yeon. A fusion of traditional and modern dishes mixed with herbs and flavors. So colorful and vibrant, the dishes lit up on the screen. However, I did find a few episodes dragged out longer than it should.

But, nevertheless, the overall entertainment value is still good with a combination of love, hate, revenge, fun and fantasy, all played out by actors who fell into their role without a flaw.

I enjoyed this drama as it has most of the ingredients I seek. The chemistry between Yoon-Ah and Chae-Min is worth the watch.

What a Phenominal story

Very Impressed with this story line Hollywood is so known for the same old stories but this one was a marvelous excellent of time travel back in time to the present to historic period and romance every woman dreams of that a man would go thru time to find her I cried at the end, who wouldn't want that I am a hopelessly hopeful romantic Korea is getting ready to knock Hollywood of the map and they started this business I went to Film Editing School in Hollywood so when I say you guys keep the attention of the people you do I don't even watch American TV no more I only watch Kdrama's or Japanese or Chinese or even Bollywood films is even better than Hollywood but normally 24/7 Kdrama's either on Netflix, Viki Raketun, Tubi I don't watch cable regular tv or American shows on Tubi or Netflix their not interesting and tired of the same old story lines it's boring, So I find that Korea is the best at entertaining so keep on entertaining and I will keep watching I love the storylines
