why to watch and why to skip this 仙侠
I was sitting on the fence about watching it, but Zhang Jing Yun is such an eye candy and a pretty good actor that I could not pass. So that is the first reason for my watching. The plot was predictable and typical for short xianxia (仙侠) so that was the first reason for not wanting to watch. There were 2 songs in OST that boosted my interest, but the overuse of generic music borrowed from the short drama stock drove me nuts (2nd reason to skip). The cruel villain overdoing facial expression and a couple playing with the Fate Mirror were the 3rd reason to not watch.
But then the magic happened.
The chemistry between the leads is there (2nd reason to watch), costumes and decor pretty-even if tacky at times (3rd reason to watch). The story of two people trying to figure things out and sticking to each other like a glue - that is 4th reason for watching. Happy ending is the 5th one.
3:5 in favor of watching.
In a complete reversal of the grand Chinese tradition to slow the pace halfway through (boring) and botched ending this drama flipped the order. The beginning seemed botched and boring and then it really went flying. I liked how they showed the summary of reincarnations in ep 23. And I definitely liked the ending.
To be honest - I am emotionally vested into this because of how the leads made me feel - all warm and fuzzy inside, so I would give them 7.75-8 but all things considered this will most likely never go higher than 7.7

My perseverance vs fate
It took me quite a while to decide what exactly should I write in my review on this series ....See !! In the first half of the series, everything felt unnecessarily complicated simply because the real problems were never properly addressed. Creativity seemed like it will commit suicide any minute ... I mean,... if you know you’re dealing with a split personality or a two-souls-in-one-body situation, how about getting some actual treatment before charging into a war? Like Who in the world would lack this common sense ...... ANS : this FL .
The plot leaned too heavily on needless tragedy and repetition. The leads kept getting saved on a kind of “barter system”: take his core, save her; separate the souls, save her; merge them again, save her; return the core, save him… and so on. It wasn’t until episode 18 that the story finally gained some serious traction.
The female lead, unfortunately, stayed quite useless throughout—either lying wounded in bed or dragging everyone else into chaos. She lacked both spiritual strength and basic presence of mind; even her mortal tasks ended in failure (like taking the tiger tally with herself when she clearly wasn’t in the right state of mind thus resulting in the kingdom's doom). The male lead, meanwhile, got completely entangled in her mess. His personal goals and desires were sidelined, and after all that suffering, he achieved nothing. In the end, he just died trying.
That said, Xu Zhenzhen and Zhang Jingyun made a stunning lead pair. Her charm and his intensity balanced beautifully~~~ especially those fiery, passionate kisses of Jingyun’s that could make anyone skip a heartbeat.
It was good drama but maybe I was expecting a better execution of events instead of just using the same characters in the similar events in cycle.

Even if madly in love how can she give tiger tally that harm her country???She made my blood to boil damn... i like the ending OST this is good short length xianxia , give a try. Happy watching..

For Zhang Jing Yun
For a mini drama this was surprisingly good... in the beginning. I was kept entertained and rooting for the main couple despite the back and forth with the past lives. It all started to fall apart around episodes 17-18. The FL can be a bit much. I understand being defiant but she crossed the line from defiant to reckless into downright stupidity.
The rinse and repeat story lines quickly gets old. However if you can get passed that it's not a bad watch.
It's a happy ending, albeit a very rushed one.
It's definitely worth watching for Zhang Jing Yun as the male lead Ye Sha / Ling Cang, he is serious eye candy (and his acting is good too) and wait until you see him with the white hair!

Interesting plot
I was skeptical at first. However, I then binge-watched the drama, and it was enjoyable. There was some confusion in the plot here and there, but overall, it was good. The FL acting was nice, but at times I found the ML to be expressionless. Felt the ending was a bit rushed, and the beginning was a tad bit slow. But the drama was worth watching. :)Was this review helpful to you?
