To My Shore Episode 8 Reactions
This is one of the best drama episodes I have ever seen. The questioning session is absolutely brilliant. First of all, the questions being asked are intelligent, relevant questions, not some nonsensical filler that no one would ask in the same situation that only makes for melodrama as opposed to real drama tension. Second, the responses are truly creatively cunning. Fan Xiao is telling the truth, but in a way that serves him. He twists it just enough to make it seem as though he was in the right, when we all know what his intentions had been. This is a masterclass in writing. All three of the actors are excellent in this scene. It was an agonizing pleasure to watch. Rewatch value: 100!

what a emotional roller costar of an ep... at the start of this BL i didn't care for Shu Lang (& i don't mean i didn't like him, but to me, he was just another side character) i was focused on Fan Xiao. yeah he was toxic & hell bent on causing chaos everywhere he went, it was hard not to be entertained by him & even enjoyed this demonic, manipulative character. *************************but as this progressed Shu Lang & the good in him has shown brighter & brighter, have come to love him. not only cause he is such a green flag, but cause he is a very strong person inside & out, yet he has compassion & a huge heart not just for loved ones, but for total stranger's. he is unique in this day & age where people aren't just jaded, but very self centered. where if they can avoid a situation, that doesn't involve them - they will - Shu Lang on the other hand goes out of his way to help. so seeing him broken by the end, just cause he followed his heart & trusted the lies Fan Xiao fed him. makes me sad & mad. *******************************************************************************************************************************************************Fan Xiao on the other hand isn't just a moron, he is a sociopath & maybe even sufferers from a spilt personality. wont be shocked by this, considering everything he went throw as a child & how he grew-up. dude says one thing & thinks another. he doesn't realize what he wants. i am sure he started hating Shu Lang cause of how good/proper/genuine he was, how he went out of his way to be helpful & kind to total strangers. Fan Xiao needed to "out" him as a fake, cause he didn't experience that type of person in his life (ironic that he forgot that his mother was a good, kind person too) & the more he tried, the more Shu Lang's kind-heart got under his skin. think the fact he fell hard for Shu Lang made him hate Shu Lang all the more. that's why even though in his heart he loves him more then he loves himself, he can't admit to this fact out loud. he is angry that Shu Lang is touching a part of him, he thought long dead. *************************************************************************************this sad & yet i don't pity him any more then i pity Zhen. they both had a gem in their hands & instead of cherishing it, tossed it aside like it was nothing & now they r crying - big whoop. the only one who my heart goes out too, is poor Shu Lang. he Doesn't deserve this heartache. he keeping doing good & getting back bad - the world is a f*cked up place & this is why good people stop wanting to be kind or good, cause there more people ready to take advantage & abuse their kindness. *************************************************************************************************************************************************************Fan Xiao mistook Shu Lang's kindness for weakness, he thinks cause someone got a soft heart they a pushover. i am so ready for Shu Lang to show him that he not one to be messed with. this is also what i loved about Shu Lang - everyone going on about power bottom's like enough with that moronic trope - it means nothing. a person can top or bottom regardless of gender, same goes for personality & Shu Lang in spite of being softhearted, was NEVER a pushover! ***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************side note: found it kinda funny the show these guys were putting on for the old man living in front of Shu Lang.

Was reluctant to write anything before completion, but after watching this masterpiece, I feel compelled to.First of all the whole show is great it just got better each week. This episode had everything, even though it wasn't a surprise that it ended in tears, how they led the viewer here so masterfully, is brilliant. Both actors are perfectly playing these characters and the writing is thoughtful and precise, the cinematography almost made me cry, the way the lighting hit their faces. I'm simply in awe of how good all of these people worked together to create such an authentic piece of meaningful art. I honestly cannot recall when I last felt so immersed in a series or a movie, ....Especially loved the scene of Fan Xiao on his knees going all out with the "performance" and while he was getting into to it more and more I thought to myself well that isn't the best acting right there just to then find out that he actually did just "acted badly" and right after the extremely heartfelt performance of You Shulang before kicking him out, while Fan Xiao was trying not to faint from the guilt and pressure he felt caught between wanting to disappear into a hole but not wanting to leave his side. Both a masterclass.
Whomever wrote these characters is also very psychologically interested and knowledgable, Fan Xiao's dilemma that his urge to control everything that surrounds him and discovering that Love is something he absolutely cannot control which leads to his inner conflict of wants to "win" and to happily surrender everything he is and has to You Shulang.
While You Shulang too is a "control freak" in his own right, he is meticulous, always sharp, notices the smallest details, Such as remembering names he just heard once and passcodes. He too wants to "win" by always being one step ahead, he also can't let things go, like Sherlock Holmes he investigates until he gets to the bottom of the smallest suspicion.
Both of them love each other but both of them struggle to accept the fact, as it compromises their accustomed habits.
No mater what happens next the show so far could not have been made any better. Very much looking forward to how the story continues.

Both Fan Xiao and Shu Lang delivered such powerful acting that it genuinely hurts to think about it. Shu Lang’s tears felt raw and unfiltered, like his entire world collapsed the moment he revealed the truth. You could feel his heartbreak tearing through every second of that scene. He carried that pain so beautifully that it stays with you long after the episode ends. The interrogation scene between the three of them was incredible. The tension, the fear, the confusion, and then that text message arriving at the worst possible moment, adding another layer of chaos and devastation. It was breathtaking in the most painful way.And Fan Xiao... he is absolutely a manipulator and a liar, but the tragic thing is that the love he has for Shu Lang feels painfully real. It is twisted, broken, and selfish, yet you can see it in his eyes that he loves him in a way he cannot control. That kind of love hurts to watch.Whoever wrote episode 8 poured their soul into it, and they deserve a pay rise for creating something that emotional, heartbreaking, and unforgettable.
