Shin Hye Sun steals the show :-) in a good sense

This series caught me off guard immediately! I did not expect too much, even thought I like Shin Hye Sun' acting very much. But here, she is just superb! Such a fresh character after seeing so many one-colored bosses. And on top of that, it is super funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰🤣🤣🤣🥰🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ok, so to add more. I am writing this review after watching the first one and a half epizode. There is still so much to come after this but I have the impression that behind the funny storyline we will see depths in the characters. So I just cannot wait to watch the new episodes!

It's a fun show!

It's a funny thing, isn't it? Viewers dive headfirst into a rom-com, fully aware of what they're getting into, only to get surprisingly upset when it is a rom-com. While it's true that rom-coms can break free from their usual tropes, there's also a certain comfort in those classic elements that often draw us in. When executed well, these familiar beats can be incredibly satisfying, and "Filing for Love" is a prime example of a drama that manages to do just that. It's a show that manages to feel both classic and fresh, keeping you hooked with its charm.

What truly makes "Filing for Love" stand out is its brilliant character development and the undeniable chemistry between the leads. Joo Inha, our female lead, is a force to be reckoned with – competent, strong-willed, yet with a vulnerability that makes her incredibly relatable. You can't help but root for her, flaws and all. Then there's Noh Kijun, the "green flag" male lead.. showcasing a calm, understanding, yet firm demeanor. Gong Myung's portrayal of Kijun is spot-on, adding a touch of golden retriever energy that's simply endearing. The romance blossoms beautifully from the classic "opposites attract" and "can't stand each other, but can't help falling" dynamics, elevated by the leads' palpable chemistry and some truly lovely kiss scenes.

Beyond the central romance, the show also excels in its comedic timing and its exploration of workplace dynamics. While the narrative does lean into more serious territory towards the end, the humor remains a delightful, unforced breath of fresh air. The OSTs are also a beautiful addition, enhancing the overall viewing experience. My only minor quibble so far lies with the secondary characters, who, despite the actors' best efforts, feel a bit underdeveloped. However, with the show still ongoing, there's always hope for more depth to emerge.

A Gripping Story, Stellar Acting, and Breathless Enemies-to-Lovers Chemistry

I watched the trailer of this drama and thought it wasn't really for me. After a second time coming across this drama, I decided to give it a go and at least watch one episode. I am so happy that I tried it, because it was so much better than I thought!!
It just gets better and better every episode and I am eagerly waiting for a new episode every week.

The Story

Gi Jun, played by Gong Myoung, is an ace in the internal audit team for the company Haemu. While he is handling a big corruption case and waiting for a promotion, he gets a new boss. In Ah, played by Shin Hae Sun, is a fearsome manager whose first decision is to pull him out of his current team and put him in the team that handles infidelity and misconduct. From then on, he spends his days looking into things like office affairs. Gi Jun feels like this is definitely a demotion and is very unhappy with his new boss. Not long after that, he gets an anonymous tip about his new boss; In Ah is allegedly involved in a workplace affair. Gi Jun sees this as his chance to take In Ah down and get back to his previous team.

The Acting

Gong Myoung is amazing in this!!! I last saw him in the drama Mercy for None, where he plays a very different character. I already knew he was a very good actor, but with this, he has proved himself even more. He brought 100% of his skills to this drama and made the character feel completely real. As he goes through all his emotions from initial shock, irritation, and disappointment over the setback to understanding, hesitation toward In Ah, and finally opening up, you are right there with him. He made it all absolutely believable. I loved every second of his acting.

Shin Hae Sun is also fantastic in this. She plays the bold, fierce, direct, and strong manager to a T. You know from the get-go that she is not someone to be messed with. As the story develops, you start to see another side of her. Shin Hae Sun also made her character and her emotions very believable. I loved seeing her embody this role.

The acting from both leads is absolutely phenomenal.

I thought of writing a best scene list but there are just too many, so watch it yourself and see which you like best 😉

Their Chemistry

I love dramas where the characters go from enemies to lovers and this drama has the same flow. Gi Jun definitely doesn't like In Ah in the beginning. As the episodes progress, he starts to see her in another light. In Ah goes from being strictly professional to opening up to Gi Jun.

What you end up with is an undeniable attraction that neither can escape from. I loved the scene where they both realize that in the ending of episode 4 / beginning of episode 5—the sparks are completely off the charts there! The actors really gave it their all with the chemistry in this drama. From the way Gong Myoung looks at Shin Hae Sun to every single touch he makes, the sheer emotion and heartfelt intensity he puts into those moments completely draws you in and leaves you totally mesmerized. Shin Hae Sun went right with that flow and added her own chemistry to that. Which leaves you with breathless chemistry and fantastic kisses and intimate scenes. I absolutely loved how their hands kept changing position during those intimate scenes and how they deepen the affection.

I have seen a lot of TV series and films and dramas—from the UK, America, Korea, and some from Japan and China—and I have to say this is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to chemistry and intimacy.

The Supporting Cast

Beyond the stellar main leads, the entire supporting cast does a wonderful job bringing the corporate environment to life. In particular, the supporting internal audit office team is absolutely great. They have wonderful group chemistry, and their interactions add so much depth, warmth, and flavor to the workplace side of the drama.

Visuals and Music

The cinematics of this drama are beautiful. My favorite was the way they filmed the scene in episode 8 with the upcoming sun. How the director envisioned the look of the drama and the execution of it was brilliant.

The music in this drama is also very impressive. The song "Home" from Alexander Stewart was perfect for the ending of episode 4 and "Liquid Dream" from SOLE was perfect for the scene in episode 8. Whoever did the music for this drama, please do more dramas!

I will update the review after watching the series completely.

The Kind of Drama That Slowly Wins You Ove

I’ve watched till Episode 8, and I must say I’m completely hooked already. Both the male lead and female lead are doing an amazing job — their acting feels so natural, pure, and genuinely emotional. Their chemistry makes every scene enjoyable to watch, and the story keeps getting more engaging with each episode. I honestly didn’t expect to get attached this quickly, but this drama has been such a pleasant surprise so far.

Seriously good!

I'm most likely getting ahead of myself but I think that even though the ratings so far have been fairly good, this drama is still underrated.

Seriously even with the great casting I didn't have anything expectations for it but it just so good. It's not the first workplace romance drama, there's nothing really new to the plot, but it's still feels fresh.

Joo In-Ah is such a great leading lady, scary at first but slowly showing her soft side, I'm crushing on her hard! I really admire her strength and dedication, she's not the kind of female lead that would play the victim, cower and cry, she stands tall prideful and strong, love, love, looove her.

Episode 6 so far has been the best, and allthough their love triangle has peeked it's ugly head around the corner, I'm still hopeful that it won't ruin what has been so far a nearly perfect drama, with the only flaw so far being that there hasn't been enough scenes involving Kim Jaewook, but I'm sure that he will be featured more in the second half of the drama. I am excited and hopeful that it will continue to impress me, so let's see what happens next.

Why is this drama only 12 episodes!!?? I'll be so sad when it ends, I just can't get enough of it honestly. I got my wish and the second half features Kim Jaewook a lot more and I love it, so much that I'd watch even if every characters was played by him every single one from the male lead to the rats rummaging tjrough the garbage, it'd be confusing, nonsensical, absurd and stupid but it'd be beautiful and enjoyable for me. With such a strong bias towards the actor playing him Jeon Jaeyeol hasn't triggered my second male lead syndrome. Hes seems to be a pretty nice guy but he doesn't come close to No Gijun, the guy is just perfect in every single way. I love this drama beyond words and simply cannot wait for more episodes!

Decent rom com, Wickedly funny satire/parody/office rom com, great acting, camera, music

THIS DRAMA IS INCREDIBLY WICKEDLY FUNNY, such a satire and parody on so many things!!!! I was laughing in ep 1
It is a decent rom-com, not a masterpiece, but it is still worth a watch. ML actor is a fantastic actor and comedian and he gives a great performance here. FL actress is ... hm.. not my favorite.... to cold. She has some moments where she acts deeper but by ep 6, not enough for me to actually enjoy her acting

==== WRITTEN AFTER EP 6 ========
The cliches are there - FL has a past, is cold and reserved to ML, who is chasing her, i.e. he is trying a lot harder than she is - the classic trope.
Still there are some refreshing takes - FL is a competent professional and his boss.. ML is a green flag, speaks his mind directly, and is a rather realistic male

===WRITTEN AFTER EP 1 =====
There are zillion enthusiastic comments in the Discussion yet 166 ppl gave 7.6 rating, and online 25 ppl gave 6 and 3.5 stars for ep 1 and 2 - CLEARLY THERE ARE ORGANIZED TROLL GROUPS, FAKE ACCOUNTS, WHO DOWNGRADE SUCCESSFUL KDRAMAS
So i wrote this review after just ep 1. the drama is too good to pass :) Dont Believe MDL rating!!!!

yeah there are many issues in the drama, e.g. FL is the only female on her team, etc etc - and I am not sure if HRs really investigate this kind of stuff for real LMAO
but you don't have time to think of that bc it is just so wickedly funny

And the acting, camera and music is amazing! ML actor is such a great actor and a phenomenal comedian. FL actress provides comedic effect in contrast with him. Her character would not be funny at all on its own.
And then there are other great actors in there, like Once Again bro.

I think FL denoted ML bc she/someone saw the staircase kiss, and I suspect she is already hitting on him. He is definitely a catch :)

And... last but not least... isnt it nice to see a real man as ML and a man who CAN ACT a wide range... an not a porcelain doll with plasticized glazed androgenous triangular face and super skinny body AND ONE FACIAL EXPRESSION - gloomy serious. Pursuit of Jade kind that will be replaced by AI bc they all look alike and cannot act. I am so glad we dont have to watch plasticized ppl in this drama. FL kinda smells of it but her acting luckily is ok for her tsundere role.

The reversal of gender roles is hilarious

=====================================
The drama is built on amazing surprises, it is like a roller coaster...

I understand why Koreans are concerned that the end of ep3 can start a new wave of dramas trying to up each other and going the lewd way of Hwood... We already have lots of scenes of guys in a shower, Dynamite Kiss pushed the envelope into bed, now FL almost doing a striptease,.... so what's next... I understand why Koreans are worried we are standing too close to the cliff edge of turning into Hwood cheap.....

I personally think that end of ep 3 was on the edge of acceptable, and it was cheesy, and to me it was made hilariously funny by the comments of the audience, who totally nailed it. Omg the comments are better than the drama in those scenes LMAO

I analyzed why the scene at the end of ep 3 was funny - bc it was so unexpected, bc the drama baited us to believe something else.. yet trained us to trust the drama :) So being so swindled was funny.... See https://kisskh.at/793102-secret-gratitude#comment-25998698
(Hm why is the comment labeled as "secret gratitude"??? )

Also, notice the SOPHISTICATION of this wickedly funny humor and also very compassionate and revealing. The last scene in ep 3 is effective precisely bc we see only their faces. Hwood would destroy that scene by showing everything. Then all the mystery and the fun of seeing their faces very closely and for a long time and feeling compassion and comraderie with the characters would have been GONE.

This sophisticated humor is the trademark of kdramas, it is a certain elegance and intelligence, parody, satire, jestering, exposing difficult heavy serious issues with tact and compassion, that only kdramas have.

In any case, whoever thought of this script, is a mastermind manipulator and jester :) sooo familiar with people and how to play them and in that contrast, make it super funny and also super educational. A master storyteller :) And the director and camera and production and the actors are the same kind, on the same page, they totally understand the concept. VERY VERY VERY SKILLED TEAM.

RESPECT!!!!!

And the audience here in their comments showed they understand the concept too. Very impressive. This is one of the best chat rooms. Respect!!!

On its own, the end scene in ep 3 to me is on the edge of acceptable and also very cheesy, one more step and it would have been gone off the deep end cliff of Hwood
To me, that last scene became funny bc of the comments of the audience - so incredibly funny.

I hope that other dramas will not start a competition to updo this drama... We already have plenty dramas with scenes of guys in the shower, etc... I would stay on this side of the cliff, not go any further, would rather use the time for quality content.

FYI I find it very funny, my review has 11 likes and yet was listed last. Why was that so? I reviewed 1 ep out of 12 and the others reviewed 2 or mistakenly 12.

Mix of explosive chemistry and comedy

Safe to say, I’m having the best time with this drama right now.

I had seen the trailer when it first dropped, so it was already on my radar, but I was originally saving it until at least the halfway mark, however thanks to a very boring Friday night, I unconsciously hit play and I'm officially obsessed.

Now I have to say, I'm a sucker for office romance. The more secretive the better, like the tension alone is too delicious to watch, so I already knew this would be right up my alley. There is also the added flavour of Shin Hae Sun's character Ju In-a being the work superior and Gong Myung's character Gi Jun being the younger, ambitious and fiery junior. It was really nice seeing a decent switchup of a usually pretty overdone cliche in dramaland.

This show also had a great twist for me; it is HILARIOUS. I honestly laughed out loud so many times in the episodes that even I was surprised by the sheer volume of my laughter. Crazy...

I’m obsessed with Ju In-a. She’s such a layered character and I’m genuinely so excited to see where they take her. I’m also slightly nervous because if they ruin her badass character, I will take it personally. Women who are brutal and exceptional at their jobs will always do it for me, and she really is all that. It's the perfect role for someone as talented as Shin Hae Sun.

Gong Myoung is also surprising me in the best way possible. He’s so well cast here and he's definitely on my radar now. I loved how Ju In-a absolutely crashed into his perfect life and turned everything upside down. The way he handles the whole thing is hilarious to watch, and his comedic timing is genuinely great. I love that the show is not holding back on the humor. If anything, it’s fully leaning into it, which makes everything feel more fun. I really hope they keep that energy going.

And the chemistry is already OFF THE CHARTS. We barely started and I’ve caught myself holding my breath during a lot of their scenes (cough..the art room..cough). It’s the kind of buzzy tension where you can feel it building constantly. Their dynamic is just so enjoyable and I’m already excited thinking about where it's going to go. With a premise like this...the possibilities are endless. Also, I'm so ready to see them team up properly and do some badass auditing together which we're already getting a taste of.

Speaking of which, I’m really enjoying the audit team as a whole. There’s a lot of personality, and the team dynamics feel pretty good for now, I'm excited to see where that goes as well. The cases are also looking interesting and serve as a nice layout for the main storyline and keep each episode very entertaining. It has a detective vibe to it, which I enjoy so so much. I'm glad that the auditing parts are just as entertaining and engaging as the main leads dynamic.

I’ve always enjoyed corporate politics in dramas. The messy relationships, the quiet power plays, people being shady in suits… it just works for me. Add in the detective vibes of the audit team, and the comedy and I'm left with no choice but to be obsessed. They've just hit all the marks for me, so I have no way of resisting this show.

The only part I’m not fully connecting with right now is Kim Jae uck’s character, and his secretary. I love love love LOVE him as an actor, but something about that storyline isn’t landing for me yet. It's just falling a bit flat compared to the rest of the dynamic feel of the show. That said, it’s still early, so I’m keeping an open mind.

I'll update my review as the show goes on, and again PLEASE DON'T CRASH AND BURN.

(A bit of a side tangent but am I the only one who thinks Audit Team 3's Chief, kind of looks a bit like Ji Chang Wook? I think he could definitely play his dad in a future project. Or maybe it's the hair styling? Idk)

A fresh romcom that sucks you in

Initial Review at the Halfway Point (Will Post Concluding thoughts after Finale):

I don’t really know what I expected from this, but it’s been a blast so far. I’m really optimistic heading into the second half.

Pros:
• A fresh dynamic of the leads — We’ve got a role reversal drama here that took me by surprise. Our ML is NOT the normal K-Drama male lead, and, frankly, I’m here for it. Our FL? She is not our normal female lead, and, again, I’m here for it. The female is a domineering boss with secrets to spare and plenty of hurts while our ML is a cocky employee who has a thing for strong women (not that he’d admit it) and is more in touch with his feelings because he was raised by and around strong women.
• Chemistry — Oh my goodness. The chemistry is there. It is so there, and do NOT get me started on the kiss scene in episode 4. Good grief. These two are dynamite together. I can’t wait to see their dating era.
• Subplots — To my surprise, this show has kept me engaged so far in basically all its subplots. That is no easy feat.
• Production — Just wanted to shout out the overall production of this. The acting, directing, music, cinematography, etc. is very very good.

Cons:
• Slow start — This wasn’t a huge dea, but the pilot is a bit slow for a romcom. In fact, it isn’t until episode 4 that we really get to know the FL’s character (this begins as a male centric narrative and part of the story is the mystery around her). If it would have dragged out longer, I would have been annoyed.
• A potentially very messy love square — Already I find it weird as heck that the ML allowed his ex girlfriend to move into his apartment in episode 1. For the fist five episodes though, it didn’t seem like a big deal. Now it looks like we are about to dive into a very messy love square that has not been introduced very well so I have fear that it could do some damage in the last half. Here’s to hoping not.

Anyway, I am PUMPED for the second half.

"A Hilarious Start That Wins My Heart"

"The Boss is Tough, But I Can't Get Enough" — Honestly, that is the best way rhymely to describe the energy of this show so far!

I’m genuinely surprised by the low rating—I've only seen two episodes and I'm already cracking up! While everyone has their own taste, this drama hits exactly the right spot for me

I just reviewed this drama from other channel where Im a regular reviewer, just rarely visit and review here in Dramalist and for some reason Im in the mood copy pasting my review from " over there" to " here" 😄.

I wasn't sure what to expect from an audit/office setting, but the dynamic between the leads is pure gold. Gong Myung playing the "fallen corporate prince" as Noh Ki-jun is the perfect foil for Shin Hae-sun’s as Joo In-ah's chaotic energy. She is a total scene-stealer! Her "quirky but lethal" vibe makes the office feel like a high-stakes battlefield, and she brings a brand of comedy that feels so fresh for 2026.

The Audit Team 3 -- "Cheating Specialists" 🤣
The PM team (Public Morals), aka the "Cheating Specialists," is ironically funny. The drama low-key roasts intense Asian corporate culture of nightly overtime. It’s a reality where people are stuck at the office so late that they barely see their wife , families, leading them to bond more with their coworkers than their spouses! While office infidelity happens everywhere East and West , this drama specifically highlights that "night-owl" office grind that makes these forbidden affairs almost inevitable. It’s a witty, light-touch take on a very real social pressure. But because it's a rom- com They handle this "forbidden affair" plot with such a witty, light touch.

Also, it’s so smart how the show uses "audit" as a double meaning. They aren't just auditing the company’s money, they are also AUDITING THE CHARACTER'S MESSY LIVES and failed relationships. It’s social commentary disguised as a rom-com, and I am here for the depth!

Shin Hae-sun is the absolute queen of "eccentric but efficient, in this show " and her role as Joo In-ah might be her best balance of comedy and intensity yet in this drama .She’s essentially playing a "madwoman" with a corporate badge, and it is glorious to watch.

Her "weirdness" feels natural—the way she handpicked Gong Myung for the "Public Morals" unit because she saw him in a stairwell with an engaged woman (talk about a misunderstanding!) shows she’s always three steps ahead.SHS has this unique ability to transition from a playful, prank-loving boss to an icy, bone-chilling executive in less than a second.

Gong Myung plays Noh Ki-jun with this perfect mix of "corporate prince" arrogance and genuine shock. When he gets demoted to Team 3, he doesn't just act sad, he acts offended. You can see the internal struggle in his expressions—trying to keep his dignity while being forced to investigate "menial" office gossip. It makes his character feel human rather than just a caricature of a hotshot.

What I loved GM's portrayal here , he isn't afraid to look a little ridiculous. Whether he's doing a hilariously dramatic "forced" song or reacting to In-ah’s "madwoman" energy, his facial expressions are gold. He knows how to use his "puppy-dog" features to make his frustration look adorable and funny at the same time.

He looks every bit the part of a 2026 elite corporate worker. His "corporate armor" (those sharp suits) makes his eventual "fall from grace" to the messy Team 3 office look even more dramatic. Plus, his expressive eyes really help sell that "cliffhanger" tension at the end of ep 2 —you can see him starting to realize that In-ah isn't just a tough boss, but someone with a secret he might be the only one smart enough to uncover.

What I also love most about this show is how both main leads really carry it as the anchors. In so many dramas, the energy is carried by just one person, but here? Both are absolute scene-stealers.

This isn't just a "watch while doing chores" drama. The wit is lightning-fast—if you miss a line, you miss a laugh! If you like intellectual equals who can’t stand each other but have undeniable chemistry, don't sleep on this one. Definitely my favorite weekend watch!

For the premiere week, it’s a perfect score for sheer enjoyment! Let’s see if this hilarious energy and brilliant drama-comedy balance can actually hold up until the finale. Consider my rating "unsteady". But 10/10 for now!

This is only my second review since coming back to Dramalist this month—The Perfect Crown was my first—and just like that one, I feel like I've found a total gem.
