The chemistry between main roles is insane
I know that Chinese bl dramas is so awesome but this drama is masterpiece so far. We international fans are so impressed and proud of them because we know that ziyu gone through so much in his past. The storyline, the chemistry, the music, the acting is 💯 and we will be supporting you for all the way 🙏 so let's keep it up💪💕Was this review helpful to you?
On second thought Chi Cheng deserves better
EditCame to edit my review after watching ep 18
No spoilers
I think Wu Suowei doesn’t deserve Chi Cheng
The MC is too funny. I haven’t laughed this much in such a long time. I had sworn off BL because I couldn’t stand the bad acting in Thai dramas, too much reliance on smut. I was just reading yaoi manhwa 🙈 But if this is the future of BL, then I’m back for good 😂
Things I liked
This drama feels realistic. The MC didn’t fall for the ML overnight
He wasn’t straight then suddenly gay for the ml 😂
It took time for him to come around.
His dramatic reactions to the ML’s touch were such a breath of fresh air.
The MC wasn’t a pushover, and I loved him for that
. I do wish the ML was less forceful, but I’m still glad he didn’t cross the line.
It’s easy to write MLs who assault their way into a love story, but harder to write strong ones who exercise restraint.
Things I disliked
I didn’t like how much the ML liked his snakes.
I hated that he ordered some guys to gang rape someone who had helped his father take away the snakes. Yes, he told them not to kill the guy, but I was like; bro, you’re putting him through something probably worse than death.
I didn’t like the MC at first. He felt weak, like a pushover, letting Yue Yue’s new boyfriend hurt him more than once. Honestly, it felt like karma when the ML caused that boyfriend to crash and almost die (which, by the way, was a crime, one of many committed by the ML).
I absolutely hated it when Chi Cheng threatened to rape Xiao Shuai if he didn’t convince Da Bao to sleep with him. That’s criminal behavior. Why not just be patient and wait for your straight boy friend to come around? You can’t expect someone to become gay overnight and be okay with being intimate when they’re not ready.
I also didn’t like how Xiao Shuai pressured Da Bao to go all the way with Chi Cheng. It felt like he was impatient to get his straight friend laid. Da Bao isn’t gay (yet), and he’s doing this because of revenge.
P.S. A huge part of my enjoyment is thanks to the Chinese language. Some things that might not be funny in English were absolutely hilarious in Chinese.
I do prefer the second lead
Can the other half just be about them?
I want to see more of them
Their dynamic seems more healthy than the first couple
Chi Cheng is too horny for his own good and I think he take it easy with his boyfriend bc he’s new to all this
I think you can love someone but still not be ready for intimacy

My top tier drama series of all time
I really love this series so much. Enemy to lover, possessive boyfriend, and a little bit toxic relationship, “hell yesss count me in”. I love the chemistry with all the characters. I really love the main couple and the second couple too , they all have interesting chemistry. The story is great and funny too. Well done. Was this review helpful to you?

Where did this show even come from?
It came out of far left field without any warning. Listen, these dramas really need to come with trigger warnings like how books do, because this is not a show about good people. If you don't like a bad guy being the ML character in a romance, and expect there to be some sort of character growth into a "good guy", then this show is certainly not for you. This is a story about bad guys, finding other people who love them despite being bad guys. A villain story, through and through. For those of you who like to suspend belief in reality and enjoy the types of story's that dive into different depths of humanity, and are okay watching a villain get their love story, then this show is absolutely for you. As other reviewers share, you NEED to get to episode 3 before the drama really kicks off, but Chi-Wei will drag you along kicking and screaming. Sure, there are definitely some hang ups through out the show, that you don't really realize you never get a real answer to until it's 4 episodes later. But by then, it doesn't really matter because you're already invested in the next drama shenanigans. And there are a lot of shenanigans.
Be ready for your heartstrings to be wretched several times by the leading men, but don't forget that all the characters reap what they sow and that's a major plot throughout the entire show. The second male leads were the perfect example of this, as they only sowed good between them so they didn't have any of the drama the main male leads had. Those idiots were idiots through and through, but it really worked for their development as a couple. The actors behind each of these characters clearly know their craft well and put so much effort into these roles; I can only hope they all revisit BL dramas in the future. They did not shy away from bringing each of their characters to life no matter how good or bad they were, and I wish other BL dramas out there learned from them on how to show passion and intensity.
Don't forget, villain story here. There were a lot of problematic themes that anyone should be aware of before entering: implied sexual assault, homophobia, victim blaming, clear parental abuse, the lying...OMG the lying, so much manipulation (everyone to each other for reals), and the list goes one. Don't enter if you can't handle these things because you will hate this show. If you are a romance reader, particularly in the dark fantasy or villain, this show will become a re-watch staple.

Why is Revenged Love so adored?
Perhaps this should have been an editorial rather than a review.Regardless, I did enjoy Revenged Love. As a confirmed fujoshi, I do love a good BL (Boys Love) story, whether in book or drama form. If you don’t know what a fujoshi is, just know this was written by a female and directed by a female. There are a bunch of social studies as to why us fujoshis like this genre.
Truth be told, the Chinese do BL better than pretty much anyone else I’ve read. My theory is censorship is so bad, they’ve got to make a compelling story, junk never sees the light of day.
I stuck with this show because of previous reviews, the good and the bad. My hope is this review will help others understand why Revenged Love is worth supporting.
When searching where this was filmed, it is actually a little sketchy, Taiwan or China. Rumors have it filmed in Wuxi which is mainland China.
Why is this important? Censorship.
There are many parts (basically two men kissing) of Revenged Love that are banned in Mainland China. If this bothers you, this is not the drama for you. If this is your first BL, you might want to watch The Untamed, Guardian, or Word of Honor first. They will get your feet wet in this type of genre without the commitment of watching a REAL romance between two men.
If you are a fujoshi like me or want to watch an interesting romance regardless of gender, please fire up the Viki app and enjoy the show.
Characters:
Revenged Love has a primary couple, a secondary couple, and very slyly, a tertiary couple. All six men have some sort of connection to each other. Zi Yu plays the lead character extremely well. Tian Xu Ning made for a compelling broody male lead (I LOVE BROODY MALES) to Zi Yu’s sunny scheming Wu Qi Qiong/Wu Suowei.
Zhan Xuan and Liu Xuan Cheng did well on the secondary romance. I felt their story was fleshed out pretty well and believable.
Story:
The story was engaging, but not the best BL story out there by any stretch of the imagination. When we are talking source material, there are more compelling tales to be turned into dramas.
Wo Suo Wei is a straight man who is violently dumped by his girlfriend. He tries to improve himself, only to be violently dumped again. He wrongfully assumes that Chi Cheng is the cause of all his problems and schemes to get revenge.
Chi Cheng is no innocent. He’s rather a thug until he and Wu Suo Wei grow closer. The other two couples help or hinder this relationship fraught with drama and snakes. Watching them both change because of the relationship is rather sweet.
Oh Yeah. If you can’t stand the sight of snakes, this drama is not for you.
As a whole, Revenged Love seems to be made on the cheap when you compare it to hidden BL stories like Guardian, The Untamed, and Word of Honor. Please don’t let that stop you from watching. This is set in modern day which is much cheaper than fantasy BL.
Dramas like Revenged Love need to be popular and make money.
Why?
So that the really cool banned stories that haven’t seen the light of day like: Eternal Faith (based on Heaven Official’s Blessing), Immortality (based on The Husky and His White Cat Shizun), and Winner is King (based on Sha Po Lang) FINALLY get released.
These are 3 (there are more) FANTASTIC books that were made into drama but NEVER released because of CENSORSHIP in China. My theory if shows like Revenged Love make money and have lots of viewers, some company outside of the mainland will by these unreleased dramas and release them…….because these are amazing shows are on a shelf somewhere rotting away.
Is Revenged Love the best BL out there?
No. But it is the best BL we can put our eyeballs on. So a plea to my fellow fujoshis. Watch. Watch as if the fate of Hua Cheng and Zie Lan depend on it’s success. You may enjoy it like I did.

I loved it and it's totally worth a watch❤️
I think it's right to say that this was one of the sweetest BLs I've watched. I mean the chemistry with them is just awesome, although it really broke my heart when they broke up but the way Chi Cheng looks after Wei Wei later is just so cute, I mean he literally treats him as his kid. I just loved them so much. And of course how can we forget the side character syndrome, (unpopular opinion) Guo Cheng and Jiang were a better and cuter couple. I liked them even more than I liked Chi Cheng and Wei Wei. And the way Jiang smiles at Cheng melted my heart so how could our lover Guo Cheng could not melt on that damn smile.I loved it and it's totally worth a watch❤️

I wasn't planning on watching this
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I really wasn't planning on watching I watch the first 10 minutes of the first episode and dropped it cause I didn't like it than I kept seeing so many people saying it was so good took me a day and a half to finish cause I didn't want to stop watching but I had to do human things I really really recommend it. if your new to BL I recommend this being one you start with if you like some spicy fluff and angst. it's spaced out through the show so it's not all just pushed together. there's some trama that's a bit random and came out of nowhere and didn't make sense but it was still enjoyable. Was this review helpful to you?

A Guilty Pleasure
Ok, I'll be honest. As a straight woman, there are no words to explain how exciting a good BL show is. Plus, I recently learned about the "omegaverse," and that was enough to pique my curiosity, but I wasn't in the mood to read any manhwas.I started watching this show randomly based on a user's list of recommendations on IMDB. Imagine my surprise when I saw the acronym "ABO" spray painted on the wheel in the background at exactly 7:43 minutes in episode one. I squealed because I knew I was in for a treat!
True, the storyline and plot are simplistic, even cheesy at times.... and yet I still couldn't look away 'cause it was so SPICEY!!! Let me tell you (and spoiler alert)... in a certain episode, when Wu Suo Wei finally took the lead and embraced Chi Cheng with a kiss, I started cheering him on. Then when he bit Chi Cheng on the neck, cried, and said "YOU'RE MINE".... I near lost my marbles... lol.
I'm ashamed to have enjoyed this series so much! Normally I'm picky about depth of content and all that.... but a good BL turns me into a simple woman... I see attractive boys embracing and I start giggling like a schoolgirl.
This show gets a 9/10 on the guilty pleasure scale.

Not a masterpiece, but a heartfelt romance that stays with you.
I just finished watching Revenged Love and honestly, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I truly believed in the love between the main characters. Their relationship was strong, touching, and convincing — that’s what kept me watching until the very end. The ending made me happy, and I really appreciated how deeply they cared for each other. On the other hand, the story itself felt weak. I went into this series expecting more serious drama and angst, but instead, the overall tone was surprisingly light and even comedic at times. Because of that, the dramatic moments didn’t hit as hard as they should have. For example, the kidnapping scene felt more funny than tense. The only moment that truly broke my heart was the death of Wei Wei’s mother.
The biggest issue for me was the long stretch of misunderstandings that lasted almost five episodes. Instead of making me feel emotional, it only irritated me and distracted me from the story. I wanted to feel the pain of the characters, to cry and suffer with them, but instead I found myself fast-forwarding. The “revenge reveal” also deserved to be developed as its own strong dramatic arc, but it got buried under those endless misunderstandings.
That said, I still really enjoyed the series overall. The first episodes were fun, the romance development around episode 6 was great, and the last few episodes (21–24) were touching and sweet. The love story is what makes this series worth watching, even if the plot itself isn’t masterpiece-level.
For me, Revenged Love is not a perfect drama, but it’s still special because of the couple’s love. I didn't regret watching it.

WeiWei drove me a little nuts
I liked this story but definitely didn't love it. There was a good chunk of it in the middle that I just found so hard to get through. I loved the first half and the last few episodes though. That middle part was quite unwatchable for me just because Weiwei was driving me insane with his decisions he was making. The actors all had great chemistry together and I liked where all the stories ended up. Overall, it was fine, but I do not fully get all the hype it had around it.
