This unhinged mess is now my favorite BL of all time
Okay, I have to start by saying that this is very, very silly. The plot is mostly dumb. I mean, it's genius, the whole idea of a straight boy coming up with a plan to get revenge on his ex-gf by seducing her new bf is just about absurd enough to be absolutely hilarious AND dramatic at the same time. And this show pulls off both! Still, it's hard to deny that many plot lines feel rushed or unfinished, many things that actually happen to the characters and all the action moments are really chaotic and weird and not believable… But what I realised right from the start is that not only do I not care about any of that but I also genuinely like that for this drama. I'm pretty sure that a lot of the things that make this show look deeply unserious exactly when it's actually dealing with serious stuff are that way because of how little budget they had for it, and then of course there's the fact that Asian BL dramas are generally known for having cartoonish plots of varying degree because that's not the point. But here it's really all so fitting that it made me appreciate it even more, and the silliness definitely adds to how charming this show is. I think I can put it like this: I adore all main character interactions even if most of the time the reasons for them to be interacting are kind of dumb. Anyway, it's brilliant.I know, I'm just being extremely subjective and irrational because I'm so in love, but I'll be irrational then. So yeah, it’s my number one favorite BL of all time now because honestly it’s out of this world.
I’ve felt so many emotions it' s hard to describe. I literally haven’t felt this much about anything in my own life for months — maybe even years. The chemistry between the two leads is insane, and I guess it's a consensus at this point that it's what makes this show so great. All the other characters (except maybe Wang Zhen — I don’t mind him, but I don’t particularly care for him) are incredible too, but come on, Ziyu and Tian Xu Ning are the goats.
Those who watched the show already know how deep and touching their story is, how it's toxic at first, and then dramatic, and of course very sexy and romantic all through, so I won't talk more on that. But let me be a little shallow here for a moment because I just have to share. It's typical to appreciate how beautiful the leads in dramas are, even to thirst over their looks, we're all lovers of beautiful boys here so it's super normal. But I don't remember myself this crazy about the characters' looks in a long time... Like, I literally couldn't shut up looking at their cute little faces, I just had to scream about how cute they are in every frame. I had to voice how much I couldn't handle seeing Ziyu's adorable face and wanting to boop his nose and not being able to... And I just had to whine about Tian Xu Ning's fffffffing freckles... But yeah, it's about the characters, so I'll talk about the characters, like how Wu Suo Wei is the most precious foxy baby angel and Chi Cheng is a stunning drama king and the cutest tall-bean bad boy I remember seeing which is kind of crazy because he's a walking cliche but at the same time he really, astonishingly isn't. Anyway, the two of them are the prettiest, handsomest couple I’ve seen, quite possibly ever. They are just extremely cute and pretty. I’m honestly amazed at how gorgeous they both are — incredible-looking guys. Phew okay I'm done. For now...
And then the humour in this show… I wheezed with laughter more times than I can count. I suspect the translations available to us are far from perfect, not to say that it’s generally harder to translate Chinese and make it clear and funny - and I still was so, so entertained, even when I sometimes got confused by what was said or how it was phrased. I'm now feeling a desire to study Chinese that I can barely keep at bay, I really don't have the mental capacity for something like this right now but it's becoming a sort of obsession.
I also have to say that I hate the voice over aspect of Chinese dramas, but I want to express my appreciation for the voice actors and how perfect their voices suited the characters here, that can be said for everyone but especially the guy who voiced Guo Cheng Yu. I don't know how it would have been had it been possible for them to film like they do (almost) everywhere else in the world, of course it would have been better overall, but as it is I think the voice over (being obviously a voice over including all the fake ass sounds of footsteps, objects, environment, children's voices, etc) was done well - I mean, again, the actors who voiced the main characters. And yes, Ziyu who voiced himself is an especially bright little star and I love his voice with all my heart.
I love almost all the music. There are two English songs that appear only once around episodes 20-21-22 that weren't really necessary, but all the others, like the theme songs for the couples and the op and ed and MOST OF ALL the theme song for Suo Wei's mom and house - gorgeous.
The speed at which disturbing moments (though there weren’t that many of them here, and I’m grateful for that) switch to unhinged hilarity is genuinely insane but then again, it's the world of Asian TV for you (I love it). Korean dramas got me kind of used to simply having absurd comedy and heart-wrenching tragedy in one show, Thai dramas radically closed the gap between how quickly one can replace the other, and here, in this beautiful mess of a Chinese drama, it all gets just kind of mushed together — and I don’t even care at this point. I just watch with my mouth open. I don’t even register whether I’m laughing or gawking or screaming or crying, or why exactly I'm doing any of those things. I’m just enjoyin seein ma boys.
I realise now that the most content heavy parts of this review are the one where I shit on the plot and that other shallowly thirst over the actors' looks............... but you gotta believe me, my love for this show is DEEP. So will be yours, go watch it, or rewatch it, because I'm going to do just that anyway, so see you on Y**tube I guess

hmm... did it counterattack
to be honest, i think this show was just so overhyped and also the main leads, which is okay each their own preferences— i just don't really see the chemistry between the two male leads. although, i do commend tian xuning's acting skills because the dude can act so props to that.the story of the two main characters were skippable at best and didn't really caught my interest that much as i wanted to and i did read the novel of which was based on this series in it's original language. the only interesting arc for me in this show was the xiaoshuai and wang shou arc which were shown in Ep. 10 and ownwards— now it didn't give me the expectation that i wanted but it did have the elements that was needed so it was not really that disappointing for me, the only down side was it was rushed.
i know it is the first acting gig of liu xuancheng (xiaoshuai) and he was lacking in some episodes but his eyes were expressive and also showing emotions which is great, with just the right amount of acting workshop if he really loves his craft and honed that talent of his, i believe he could go far. the downside is really his dubber, it just didn't really show the emotions that the actor was showing and that thicked me off so bad.
i also enjoyed the chemistry xuancheng had with zhan xuan — albeit they lack of screentime in this series. these two actors, although, they are just the second leads looked so natural in a way that you just can't keep your eyes off them and just really wants to know more of their story and the show just did not deliver that much of, which was totally disappointing.
now would i watch this show again? it really depends on my mood, but i'd rather just watch the cut scenes at most if i wanted to.

Worth to Watch!
The story is refreshing, typical of Chinese series with many episodes, but this is truly BL. So, each episode has its own story and problems, which is what keeps the series from getting boring. While it sometimes feels like it jumps too far, it eventually comes back to the main theme. Worth to watch! Was this review helpful to you?
their chemistry
Just finished Revenged Love and it's BTS and I honestly didn’t expect to get this invested and what stood out the most was the chemistry between Tian and Ziyu. they has this perfect mix of tension, intense and everything was filled with unspoken feelings. Their dynamic feels beautifully complicated. Overall, the story itself has a very emotional, almost poetic atmosphere that makes the story linger in your mind. Definitely worth watching if you enjoy strong on-screen chemistry. Was this review helpful to you?
The Ultimate Chinese Masterpiece
Every once in a while, a drama comes along that completely rewrites the rules of the genre and becomes your absolute "top of the top." Revenged Love (2025) is precisely that kind of rare, unmatchable masterpiece. Produced as a high-quality live-action remake of the classic novel Counter Attack by Chai Ji Dan, this Chinese Boys' Love series has taken the international community by storm. It is a show so spectacularly executed, intense, and emotionally addictive that no other country can even come close to replicating its magicThe absolute heartbeat of this entire series is the chaotic, complex, and beautiful relationship between Chi Cheng (Chi Chi) and Wu Suo Wei (Wei Wei). The plot starts with a wild, hilarious premise: after being humiliated and dumped by his wealthy girlfriend, the poor but determined Suo Wei decides to exact the ultimate revenge by seducing her new billionaire boyfriend. Watching this revenge plan slowly transform into an overwhelming, deeply sincere, and unbreakable real love story is an absolute joy. Chi Chi and Wei Wei have genuinely become everything to the viewers—their happiness, boundaries, and playful banter are the ultimate comfort, making them an unforgettable pairing that you want to protect at all costsWhat elevates Revenged Love into the stratosphere of elite television is the phenomenal casting of its leads, Tian Xu Ning (Chi Cheng) and Zi Yu (Wu Suo Wei). The sheer, unadulterated chemistry between Tian and Zi Yu is nothing short of a miracle. They possess a rare, electric on-screen synergy where even the smallest glance, the deepest smirk, or a subtle change in posture leaves the audience completely breathless. Every single interaction between them feels incredibly intense, raw, and heavy with emotion. Tian portrays the dominant, fiercely protective heir with magnificent charisma, while Zi Yu brings an endearing, sharp-witted vulnerability to Suo Wei that captures your heart completelyBeyond its narrative perfection, Revenged Love holds immense historical value for Asian entertainment. For years, mainstream full-length BL productions from mainland China faced heavy censorship roadblocks, forcing fans to rely on heavily watered-down bromance narratives. This 24-episode masterpiece completely shattered those barriers, effectively opening the doors wide for high-budget, uncensored, and authentic Chinese BL productions. The success of this series has revolutionized the industry, paving the way for a brand-new era of storytelling. It is a massive triumph, and knowing that it was brought to life by such dedicated creators makes the experience even more rewarding.Without a single shred of doubt, Revenged Love is a flawless 10/10 masterpiece that stands completely undefeated. It is a magnificent blend of witty comedy, raw romantic tension, and revolutionary significance. Tian and Zi Yu have set an impossibly high standard for acting and chemistry in the industry. One can only look toward the future with immense hope that these two phenomenal actors will be cast together again in future projects, as their magical connection is far too precious to ever be forgotten. Was this review helpful to you?
A Mind-Blowing Series That Truly Caught Me Off Guard
What I want to say about Revenged Love, it’s truly an amazing series. I honestly don’t remember the last time I enjoyed a show this much after "Love in the Air" (Thai series). I’ve watched so many series since then, but this one completely caught me off guard. The acting is absolutely mind-blowing. The actors are incredibly handsome—WoSo Wei’s cuteness, Chi Cheng’s attitude, Guo ChengYu’s cunning smile, and of course, the doctor’s innocent expressions… each one leaves a lasting impression.
Everything about this series kept me hooked till the very end. The comedy is top-notch, the emotions are overwhelming, the friendship feels genuine, and the love is beautifully non-judgmental.
However, one thing I didn’t quite like is how BL series often prioritize the main couple over the second one. I’ve always found second couples just as cute and sweet, and here too, the doctor and Guo ChengYu deserved more screen time. Even if their relationship wasn’t as central, it still had the potential to feel deeper and more complete.
That said, if you’re feeling stressed, this is definitely a must-watch. It has everything to lift your mood, I laughed so much while watching it.
Overall, it was an incredible journey… and honestly, it’s a must rewatch.

Overall a cute Drama
I hope I won’t step on any feet here with this one but even though I quite liked the Drama, it has a lot of flaws. I understand the hype around it since it’s kind of one of a kind drama if you just watch Chinese dramas but I find it overrated.the couples are sweet and the chemistry is amazing, but I feel like the whole story is missing something. there was plot but I don’t feel like it helped their individual character development.
I have a bit complicated feelings towards the characters and their choices during the drama. I felt like they were being displayed as smart but in the end it didn’t feel like they are smart.
somehow it all didn’t really work out for me.
but maybe I made the mistake to watch 12 letters and Legend of the female general before revenged love. my standard was quite high and it did not reach my expectation. So overall it’s not a bad drama but it could have been better.

Might Be the Greatest BL of All Time
The story. The cast. The acting. The freaking OST. Everything was amazing. This is probably the most well done BL we’ve ever had. I am just overwhelmed with how great this show was. I even loved the secondary couple, and I usually can’t stand them lolWow. Just wow!
That moment when you finish a masterpiece, be it a drama or a novel and are so lost because you don’t know where or when you’ll be able to get your next fix…
Is the novel this good? Excuse me while I go hunt down Chai Ji Dan’s novels…except Addicted, been there lolz
If we could get Thai BLs to be written and acted as well… 👀

Revenged Love — The Adaptation This Novel Always Deserved
I absolutely loved Chai Jidan's novel, so I went into Revenged Love with very high expectations. After the disappointment of Falling in Love with a Rival back in 2015, I honestly wasn't sure the story could ever receive the adaptation it deserved. Thankfully, this series proves that sometimes it's worth waiting. This is everything I wanted the first adaptation to be.The story remains one of the most original premises in BL. What begins as a ridiculous revenge plan slowly transforms into a genuine love story that constantly surprises both the characters and the audience. The beauty of the narrative is that it never asks whether someone is gay or straight. It asks a much simpler question: what happens when your heart falls in love with someone you never expected? That's what makes the story so compelling. Love doesn't always follow the labels we create for ourselves.
The adaptation is remarkably faithful to the novel. Unlike the 2015 version, which had to compress hundreds of chapters into a handful of short episodes, this series finally gives the characters room to grow. Their emotions evolve naturally, the relationships make sense, and every major turning point feels earned instead of rushed. As someone who already knew the source material, I couldn't have asked for a better adaptation.
The cast is outstanding.
The main couple immediately convinced me, but what surprised me even more was the second couple. Too often, secondary romances exist simply to fill screen time. Here, both relationships are equally interesting, equally believable, and equally important to the overall story. I never found myself wanting to skip one couple to return to the other because both storylines kept me completely invested.
The chemistry is exceptional across the board. Every relationship develops naturally, allowing the emotional moments to land with real impact. Whether the characters are arguing, teasing each other, or slowly admitting their feelings, everything feels authentic. The performances never become exaggerated, which is exactly what this story needed.
The production also deserves praise. Despite the limitations surrounding Chinese BL productions, the series never feels restrained emotionally. The direction understands when to embrace comedy, when to slow down for romance, and when to let the actors carry the weight of a scene without unnecessary melodrama. Combined with an excellent soundtrack and polished cinematography, the result is a series that constantly feels confident in what it wants to be.
Final Thought
Revenged Love is the adaptation I had been hoping for ever since I finished the novel. It captures the humour, the romance, the emotional growth, and the unforgettable relationships that made Chai Jidan's story so popular in the first place. After the failed attempt in 2015, this version finally gives Counter Attack the justice it always deserved. For me, it's simply a perfect BL.

Elite Contender For Best Bl Ever
One of the best shows/bls I ever watched. I remember the hype it got last year but never watched it (I was out of bl) but I seriously missed out on such a gem of a show. Wei truly defies expectations, he is is such a fascinating and dynamic main character for us to follow. I thought the first episode of it was very comical, and even the premise of the show is a trope within itself, yet this show just defies the sort of stale expectation. I really loved the dark introduction to Chi Cheng/ Cheng yu. It gave me that the show was gonna be dark with toxic mafia-esque tops which I LOVE mind you but I liked the layers that were pulled out of them.Starting off with a fighting snake ring and overall understanding that Cheng is enamored by snakes and also adores them as they are his children. All of that leading with his trauma of his ex pressure from family, absolute fucking cinema. I feel like everything in this show, while the budget wasn't the best, obviously, it's like, I'm sorry, some shows can't even write this much plot twists, yet depth into their characters and growth within their characters in five or six episodes. I mean, we saw him literally kill the snake for Wei. Don't get me started on Wei and Shuai's dynamic. I love them so much. I think it just, with Shuai, he is such a light in this dark world, and it's so easy to fall in love with him, and it makes so much sense that Cheng Yu is in love with him and shines in his scenes with him and even Cheng Chi (I loved their bromance it was so funny and real). Both Cheng Yu and Shuai chemistry was so good! A good balance to Wei and Cheng Chi's. Shuai is so inviting and I was praying for even more screen time with him, with all he has experienced he is still so giving, to wei, to his community, to strangers. I have so many praises to sing about this show and how it understands its characters.
I loved the bringing back the toxic ex. He was MY messy gay. I loved what he stirred in the characters, the drama, the diva of it all. I even loved how careful the characters took care of mental health and illness, even when I wish and somewhat the dramaticness in me wanted them to stoop low (Shuai grounded Wei so much I loved their dynamic lol). So many characters just exceeded expectations, which really made them feel more human and grounded to the story. I enjoyed the pacing of this show so much as well. I think that towards the end (not way end but maybe), with the major conflict, I do think things got wrapped up a little bit quickly with a major plot point. But other than that, I'd say the pacing was amazing and it felt like we could feel the weight of the decisions and the emotions of the characters. In general I just need more time with the story cause IM GREEDYYY and need more EPISODESSS. Still, the dialogue and the couples sold me everything I needed: tears, butterflies, sexual tension, guilt, shock, everything I needddddd! The actors did their absolute fucking big one in this show. I truly think with such a variety of characters and different perspectives, they honored all of them so well and their dynamics paid off so well when the boys got together as couples. Long live Cheng Chi X Wei Wei you guys are so hot!!! And long live Cheng Yu and Shuai Shuai the best second leading couple ever. Shout out to my fav bestie bottom twins Wei Wei and Shuai Shuai I hope yall do something fruity behind your tops back for the fun of it and get a spanking 😜😜
might watch the behind the scenes now and be hella involved in this fandom cause truly this show has fixation power over me, thats how good it is. GIVE IT A TRY! you will love it and adore it as I do 💞💞 thank you for reading 💞💞

This series will own space in your head after watching it
I will never be over this one. Ever. I can't stop watching the bts footage either. In fact, the bts is actually way sexier than the final product! This was so good! There were some moments that felt like they couldn't do what they wanted to because of censorship limitations. That really sucked. But overall this was so sweet and funny. I did not expect to fall in love with both couples. Or to be crestfallen when it ended. But here we are!
I felt like the ending could have been less rushed, but overall this is funny, cute, heartwarming, sexy, etc. If your'e into BL this is a must watch. If you aren't you should still give this one a look.
