Revenged Love

I finally watched it after hesitating

I finally decided to watch this series after some hesitation, fearing it would suddenly be banned mid-stream.

This first review focuses on the storyline. I apologize, I haven't read the novel, but I've only seen a few spoilers. I found the story of this series interesting and quite fresh for me (since I've been watching ThaiBL more lately). The story begins with someone seeking revenge on their ex, but then finds true love. It might sound simple, but the story seems to change the personalities of many of the characters, which is very interesting.

However, this series has some toxic plot points that may be triggering for some viewers. There are several abusive acts explicitly depicted in the story. While some may be interested in these scenes, others may not. Unfortunately, the resolution of these abusive acts is poorly delivered, creating plot holes in the series. Like when Chi Cheng punished his subordinates who betrayed him to the R*** gang, but after that, there was no further explanation about his situation. After rewatching it, I felt that part made Chi Cheng's character feel uncertain. Initially, they wanted to show Chi Cheng's dirty and abusive character, but after that, they didn't continue, making it seem like his character was just a normal red flag, when in fact, it was more than that.

The second one is not delivering Xiao Shuai's trauma well. Even though they are only the second couple, I think the story should be highlighted well. Especially when there is a trigger that should trigger Xiao Shuai's trauma but in the scene it seems normal, such as when Weiwei's prank scene was about to commit suicide and Xiao Shuai found out. It would be better to show Xiao Shuai experiencing a trigger for Weiwei's actions, such as anger or crying. Besides that, when Meng Tao came and apologized to Xiao Shuai, it was not delivered well so Xiao Shuai's angry and annoyed emotions were not shown even though I as a viewer felt annoyed and hit Meng Tao who didn't know himself.

The third one is more of a personal assumption. While watching this series, I was a little curious about the relationship between Weng Shou and Weng Zhen, as well as Chi Cheng and Cheng Yu. It's a shame that they only gave a little description of their relationship and their feelings for each other because while watching, I wondered what kind of relationship they were trying to describe, and it seemed like it was still hanging until the end of the story. If only they had screentime for their past flashbacks, it might have been very interesting.

Next, I'll discuss the acting. Overall, I think each actor's acting is quite good; they're quite good at getting into their roles. They're also quite good when filming begins, so the audience can be drawn in without feeling awkward. However, there are still some actors who are stiff and lack fluidity.
Roles:
- Chi Cheng: The actor is good at getting into the role of CC, even being able to express himself as a Red Flag.
- Suo Wei: I think the actor is quite good at delivering the role of Wei Wei to the audience. Although there are still some stiff and awkward expressions, he has managed to portray Wei Wei well.
- Xiao Shuai: I think the actor still feels stiff when acting. Sometimes the expressions in some scenes don't match, so they don't convey the desired atmosphere. However, after a few scenes, we can see quite good development, especially in the final scene of episode 24. I was quite surprised by that episode.
- cheng yu: I'm quite amazed by the actor who is very expressive and really brings the role of CY very well. I feel like he really lives the role with great detail. Even in every scene he delivers well. Anger, touched, sadness, smoking, drunkenness, 18+ scenes, etc. all work well. He also seems to guide the character of Xiaoshuai so that it can develop well.
- wang shuo: The villain character successfully annoys me and wants to grumble every time he appears. The actor is very good at delivering this character without seeming awkward and like a pro player. He can convey the emotions of anger, depression, annoyance, spoiled, and troublemaking well to annoy the audience. It's very cool.
- wang shen: Honestly, he's a mysterious character and the actor brings this character to life well. Unfortunately, his screen time is limited and there is rarely any dialogue. but he can carry his role well because the audience can feel the feelings of the character Wang Zhen where he admires Weiwei but on the other hand he has feelings for Wang Shuo which ends up choosing to protect Wang Shuo. with not many scenes he is good enough to show those feelings to the audience.

The next part is for music and visuals. I really like the OST of this series and enjoy listening to it repeatedly. For the cinematic visuals, I think it is very good. The lighting and space director are very good. Throughout the series, the audience is treated to a very epic indoor and outdoor space arrangement. The lighting background used also seems good and suits each character who is acting. As a result, I really enjoy it as a viewer. Because sometimes the BL/Bromance story genre in China usually has a low budget and is minimal. But in this series, even though some fans say the production house uses a low budget, for me this is really a proper budget. Maybe they cut costs on makeup and clothes because there are some characters whose clothes are rarely changed and not full makeup, but that doesn't matter because they are all handsome without excessive makeup.

Overall for me this series is very good and good, considering the story of chai jidian which was adapted into Live Action did not end until it was finished and hanging. while this revenged love can be shown until it is finished and happy ending we need to appreciate it. The actors who acted in it have also never acted BL with that much skinship so it is understandable if there are scenes that seem stiff and strange but still very enjoyable. is this drama worth watching? YES VERY WORTH it. but keep in mind that there are several scenes that bring the trigger of "toxic relationship".

love this series!

Okay, damn, I enjoyed this series!! This series has it all: comedy, romance, and angst. The cast was excellent; I actually sobbed when Su Wei's mother died; everyone had good chemistry with each other... (even Zang brother... they weren't real brothers, but still) I loved the tension between CC and Wei Wei. Along with this, I particularly liked the second male lead and the doctor of course (Uff); their chemistry was incredible... ugh! I have a problem with the fact that both protagonists' kisses felt forced... Anyway, I adored this one!!!! 10/10 (PS: it was my first ever BL)

This is the one of the best series of my life!

Tian performs his role to perfection. A character who clearly starts as a red flag and gradually evolves into a green flag, and that transformation truly works because of the actor’s skill. He conveys emotion without exaggeration, and much of what we feel comes simply from his eyes, the pauses, and the micro-expressions. Nothing feels forced or empty.

Ziyu is equally impressive. Even in the more intense and stylized moments, almost anime-like in tone, his performance never becomes cringe, which is very rare. He balances emotion, vulnerability, and restraint in a very natural way, always keeping the character believable.

The story itself is excellent, especially in the first part, when they begin to fall for each other. The relationship development is careful, gradual, and emotionally coherent. We see interest growing, hesitation, restrained desire, all built in a very organic way without artificial rushing.

It is even more admirable knowing the series was made with a limited budget. Nothing feels cheap or careless. On the contrary, you can feel the dedication, the smart creative choices, and the respect for the story they wanted to tell.

Above all, the strongest point is the acting. Unfortunately, in many BLs we often see inexperienced actors without much talent, relying only on the genre itself. That is not the case here. These actors truly know how to act. They work beautifully with micro-expressions, silence, and emotional tension. There is truth in their performances.

It would honestly be a dream to see them together again in another series.

Best BL in 2025 ~~ so far ?

I've finally finished this, and I'm obsessed!! So this is going to be a very long review ... Buckle up!!

I have to point out that I haven't read the novel so I had no idea what to expect story-wise, and despite being one of the few Chinese BLs I've watched that openly shows the BL part ( not bromance in disguise) I believe it hides more than it shows and the main story must have tonnes of other details that was cut from the series so I plan to read the book later, but for now this review is only about the show, if it's lacking then my bad ~

Now back to the review ~

Story:
I loved it, it has everything, it was slow at first with many twists and turns but every few episodes you are faced with a new challenge that keeps you interested and invested in the story.
You can't find one dull moment, the interactions between all the cast is beautiful, even Chi Cheng and Xiao Shuai!! Call me a sadist but I loved every scene Chi Cheng was bullying Xiao Shuai or intimidates him, even the rivalry between Chi Cheng and Cheng Yu.
What I didn't like was how random everything was happening, direction was a mess and it's obvious that it was heavily edited, no idea why or if it was necessary but the overall quality of the whole series is below bar, raised only by the interesting story and great cast, but the transition is absolutely terrible.

Also at some points I think they did the two leads dirty.
Sou Wei with his mother's arc, and Chi Cheng with the whole revenge/jealousy/misunderstanding part that parallels with the former. I won't say much but I hate when two people so in love yet can't manage to do basic human interaction which is "talking" ... But this is a very specific matter that I hate personally.

Cast:
The whole cast is spectacular! I'm not saying acting was Oscar worthy, but the chemistry, guys!!! The chemistry between every👏single👏 character👏is👏 FIRE!!! 🔥
just name any two characters, I even loved Sou Wei and Chi Cheng's dad scenes together 😂
I'm serious!! Those people are comfortable together!! They are friends behind the scenes and it shows!!
I wish I can watch Tian Xu Ning and Zhan Xuan in another drama 😂 those two were the best Frenemies I've even seen in a BL and I loved them here very much!! I don't care what their roles are I want to see them interacting together, I can watch them for hours and I wouldn't get bored!
And I may be crazy but I literally shipped everyone with everyone, the two tops?? Shipped! Exchanged partners? Shipped, even the two brothers ? Shipped 🤣 that's how bad I enjoyed all the characters together.
On the other hands, aside from the two main characters every other couple story is very underdeveloped, Cheng Yu and Xiao Shuai story was very abrupt, the two brothers story was vague and unclear what was going on or what might go on in the future, while there are other scenes that added nothing to the story and could be easily removed and add some clarifying scenes, also the end is like Boom! A sudden finish, it was so random, I wish they added something aside from just ending it like that, any hint for the work/relationship, parents acceptance or anything that indicates how are they going to live in the future.
Even Cheng Yu and Xiao Shuai had better closure 😂
Underdeveloped story with good end VS excessively explored story with abrupt end!

Characters:
As I said the cast were fantastic, which mirrors how we loved the characters too, Chi Cheng is the worst character I can even dream of meeting IRL yet! He is the best ever, very kind, lovable, cute and surprisingly obedient 🤣🤣
And not just towards Sou Wei, but also Cheng Yu, his BFF and his sister, it shows that he's not "only listens to his husband" type ... But genuinely listens to people who he loves and know they love him back.
My favourite characters has to be Cheng Yu, sorry everyone, but I love how flirty and very smart he is, cause let's face it... SW and XS are dumb and dumber compared to others also they are easily manipulated, maybe SW more than XS, he is kinda smart tbh and CC simply had so many hints but couldn't put two and two together, Wang shou was too destructive for my taste.
So for me, the one that shines the most as the smartest with the most mischievous ideas is my man, Cheng Yu ❣️❣️

I don't know what else to say, I will miss this drama, if you like BL then put this on the top of your list, it was fun, fluffy, sad, dramatic, sexy, hot, cute, suspenseful... It was a collection of emotions in it you don't want to miss ~~

speechless ❤️

when I just completed to watch this series, I was so fulfilled and satisfied with all the feelings this series gave me. There are very rare series which make a lasting impression on you, and this is 1 of that.
I don't think it was anything special to fell in love with a series, if it's Chinese bl, but the uncensorship got me. The way when actors eyes speak and it reaches to heart of audience, it always makes me feel special about those acting.

Apart from story and acting, the actors were eye candy for me. I specially took so long before dropping review but still getting tongue- tied, I rarely behave like this...lol. But this is really beautiful and awesome to even pen my feelings.

I highly, absolutely recommend this, if u have not watched it till now, which is definitely rare😂. Because everyone was watching in priority even painfully waiting for every week. But the future bl lovers can definitely watch it, and believe me, you are lucky, as u don't have to wait for next episode.

I am definitely gonna rewatch it innumerable times, so let's meet randomly in comment, reels, etc in future, my fellow bl lovers🥂

such amazing chemistry

I was hesitant about watching this show since I've never watched bl before but this did not disappoint!! such incredible actors with great chemistry throughout the entire show. the story line was good not anything amazing tho, got a bit lost with the whole snake storyline but oh well... everything else was perfect . i liked how there wasn't that much "scenes" and u actually got to enjoy Their relationship as a couple on a deeper level then just s$x etc. overall this show is really good ,definitely a rewatch kind of show. hope to see more of the actors in the future

build up done right

this show had some silly moments (I feel that basically all Chinese shows I’ve watched falls into a pit of filler episodes where the realistic story goes off the rails and some odd things happen, here when the Wang brothers came I was a little like, okay this is ridiculous) but it was overall done well. the beginning was a bit slow but I loved how we did get a realistic build up of the two playing basketball and slowly getting to know each other. also the ost is so good (especially loved the English songs included in the soundtrack)!!

maybe a tad too much focus on the snakes though lol

if someone's first bl series is Revenged love then babe lower your expectations and then ask for recommendations. Nothing is like revenged love . no other series can beat this series, well I'm not saying thai bl series are not good , Chinese bl series are like going on a vacation and thai bl series are HOME. but revenged love is next level. the story, the chemistry between the actors, the songs, the acting everything is just perfect. if you haven't watched it yet then what are you waiting for????? go and watch it right nowwwww
