Another example that it doesn't need many episodes to make a good GL.

Here's another proof that an awesome series doesn't require a lot of episodes. It's all about the storytelling! While book-adapted series would usually generate more buzz and excitement, "AI Girl" proved that a unique concept combined with great execution are the keys to making a series stand out.

Mame, the brain behind this series proved her writing skill once again with how well-structured the story is. While 7 episodes may seem short, "AI Girl" manages to pack a punch with its concise storytelling, solid pacing, and well-defined character arcs, without relying on unnecessary subplots. The focus remains on the central theme of forbidden love between a human and a AI-powered robot, creating an entertaining yet emotional journey for viewers. The 50-60 minutes runtime of each episode allows for ample time to flesh out the story and develop the relationships between the characters. The balance between comedy, romance, and drama is handled masterfully, keeping viewers engaged from start to finish. And the best part? No annoying parents or exes!

Other than the story, the acting is something worth mentioning about this series. Despite it being Myyu Khawisara's first series, she delivers impressively. Her years of stage experience allow her to bring Gen to life effortlessly, conveying the layers of emotion and conflict within Gen with such depth and nuance. Meanwhile, Chanya Amarit nailed the contrasting characters of Ai and Irene, enriching the story's complexity. Plus, the chemistry between Myyu and Chanya is palpable, drawing viewers into Gen-Ai blossoming romance. In addition to its well-developed story and impressive acting, this series also excels in its execution, production quality, and attention to detail. Hats off to the props and makeup departments for their amazing work in designing the sets and giving Ai such a believable humanoid look.

Out of many good points, one drawback of this series, in my opinion, is the lack of proper backstory, which I think lowers the overall emotional impact. Irene's story unfolds very slowly, to the point that the mysteries around her make her seem more like a filler than a central figure. Also, Gen's family issue feel quite shallow. Hence, I don't think it deserves more than 8.5. And while the love story between human and robot might not sit well with some people, it's a fiction anyway.

Overall, "AI Girl" takes a refreshing turn from conventional romance plots by exploring the complex dynamics between the human protagonist and a humanoid, and it worked! In a saturated market of GL dramas, this series exemplifies how prioritizing overall quality over mere chemistry and hype can create a good GL series that will definitely stick with viewers for a while.

My heart is broken - in a good way i guess?

I never write reviews
Ever

But oh god this one hurts
I was Team AI all the way, and I was smiling at the end because it’s beautiful, and then the last scene… I broke in tears
It’s a beautiful ending, so beautiful, but so hard to watch
In the end she did complete her mission, she made Gen happy until the end
And then she left with her

Overall I really loved this show, it’s original and new, the actresses are amazing and honestly the plot was so cool
We all had theories for weeks and every time something new happed we had other ones
Anyway, I can’t say anything but you should watch this GL
This is my new favorite of all time
Really

How to Make a Great Robot Love Story

What initially looks like it could easily become a clichéd and rather silly romance between a human and an AI turns into a surprisingly wholesome, emotional, and character-driven story. It doesn't reinvent the concept of falling in love with an artificial human, but it understands how to make that concept work by putting the relationship and gradual character development at the center of everything.

The biggest strength is Ai herself. Her development throughout the series is wonderful to watch. She doesn't simply start behaving like a human from one episode to the next. Instead, she slowly learns about emotions, relationships, jealousy, affection, and what it actually means to care about another person. The little robotic mannerisms, reactions, and even sound effects constantly remind you that she isn't human, which makes the moments where she starts showing genuine emotions even more effective. The acting does a great job of selling that transformation as well.

Just as important is the chemistry between the two leads. Gen and Ai are simply incredibly wholesome together. Their relationship develops naturally through all the little interactions between them, and the series gives them enough quieter character moments to make their growing connection believable. It also knows how to use familiar romance clichés without becoming completely dependent on them. Some situations are deliberately ridiculous, but that's exactly where much of the comedy works so well.

And that's probably one of the things I enjoyed most: the balance of tones. One moment the series can be genuinely funny and cute, and shortly afterward it can become surprisingly serious, emotional, or even tense. As the story progresses, the sci-fi elements and questions surrounding Ai's existence become more important without completely taking over the romance at its center.

The supporting story is interesting as well, particularly everything surrounding Ai's creation and the people connected to her. It adds some mystery and eventually gives the series a much bigger conflict than the initially rather simple premise suggests.

Not everything works equally well, though. Some character decisions happen a little too quickly, certain motivations could have been explored in more depth, and several supporting characters remain little more than exaggerated clichés. The later part of the story also introduces interesting ideas and conflicts that don't always receive the amount of development or resolution they deserve.

But those problems never really damaged what I cared about most: Gen and Ai.

It's funny, adorable, occasionally ridiculous, surprisingly tense, and at times genuinely heartbreaking. Most importantly, though, it's just an incredibly wholesome love story with two leads I loved watching together from beginning to end.

Not your basic GL

So overall this show is very good in terms of production, script quality and acting. I have to give extra credit to Chonyas performances because she did amazing portraying a robot and a human. Me mind you really took a chance with this one because it is controversial to make a robot and a human fall in love. I liked the show a lot but i must admit they were times realization hit me that it is indeed a robot and it was kinda hard not to feel weird about it.Suming up, IT IS absolutely WORTH the watch and greater than a lot of GLs out there that have no plot.

One of the most underrated GLs of the year deserves more attention

Three episodes in and I'm already attached to these two.....I was anticipating the trope like " Human falls for a robot" but it is much more charming and deep. Its a story about loneliness and companionship where you let a special someone in your life. What hooked me is not only the AI concept but also the chemistry which is off the charts. We all have met someone like Gen who are awkward ,quiet and a little lost. Then Ai comes and literally changes her life into a more meaningful one. The series also does a nice job balancing comedy with emotional moments. One minute you're laughing because of Ai's innocent behavior, and the next you're thinking about Gen's loneliness. The pacing has also been solid though we only have 7 episodes...saddddd. Then we have Irene who is watching every move of Ai. She might fall in love with Gen through Ai's eyes....thats poetic lol.

Of course, with only three episodes released, it's still too early to judge the overall story. The biggest challenge will be maintaining the quality and delivering a satisfying conclusion. However, based on what's been released so far, the series has exceeded my expectations like Love Beyond Dreams. Can we have a little cameo of Rann and P'Le pls.

If you're looking for a GL that's a little different from the usual college or office romances, I'd definitely tell u to give AI Girl a chance. It has heart, it's genuinely entertaining, and after only couple of episodes, I'm already invested in where this story is going.

Now comes the hardest part... waiting for next episodes.

This is SO GOOD!

Although it sounds berserk, I was relieved the series didn't shift to "But she's a robot!" midway through. They stuck with the robot concept and faithfully represented how a thing like Ai—a robot—once brought to life, has a life of its own. It did take me back to Frankenstein—realizing how we humans build things for our own comfort and needs, and then forget their value and importance so easily.

To see Ai as her own person—an individual who deserves all the respect, affection, and care just like humans do—through Gen's eyes was deeply heartwarming. Irene is such a good character, too. Even though her past meeting with Gen felt a little illogical, it was still highly enjoyable. Chanya was amazing in both her roles; I was awestruck by her beauty and acting.

The ending was bittersweet. I am glad they went all the way and showcased Gen's old age. Ai shutting down her system because Gen had died, and that means she had no purpose or reason anymore—that was such a beautiful way to show that they were both completely all in with their love.

Easily one of my favourite GLs of this year, I must say! ><

The Best Philosophical GL Series of 2026

⚠️Finale SPOILER Alert⚠️
AI GIRL Ep 7 - Hmmm, how do I describe/explain what I went through during this Finale Episode? First, I was downright bewildered, discombobulated, aghast, stupefied, flustered, and dumbfounded and flabbergasted that Gen chose Ai over Irene! My goodness, there was the living, breathing, warm, gorgeous, sexy A.F. Irene, practically throwing herself at Gen, offering herself to Gen, to sub for Ai! That one line from Irene, "Why can't it be me instead?", tore at the core of my soul.

And what did Gen do? Rejected Irene (c'mon Gen, another major heartbreaking rejection for Irene, after she told you what her Thai dad did to her?! you're so mean, Gen). So I thought, hey Irene, if Gen doesn't want you, why don't you come over and stay with me instead. Delulu.

** That walk-on part of P'Le and Ran? Absolutely divine! I ❤️❤️❤️ Mie. **

And I continued watching and everything was kinda cringe coz, well, Ai's a robot!!!!

Until the final scene came. 45 years later, Gen and Ai are still together.... And I found myself bawling my eyes out😭😭😭😭😭😭

And this show made me - the jaded, commitment-phobic, overprotective-of-my-own-heart me - think: If I REALLY had to choose between a human who would eventually cheat on me and break my heart again, and a robot who would be loving and loyal and faithful and sweet to me until the day I croak, wouldn't I choose the robot, too? Oh man, so many existential questions now running sprints and marathons inside my head!

AI GIRL, you started as a cute sci-fi fantasy romance.... And ended as one of the most thought-provoking philosophical, metaphysical, ontological works of 2026. Good job, Me Mind Y!

Oh my oh my, Me Mind Y - You blew our minds with LOVE BEYOND DREAMS. And now you're making us think about the very essence of love and mortal existence with AI GIRL.... What would you come up with next? I LOVE YOU!

Another brilliant concept from Me Mind Y

Me Mind Y has done it again with another unique series. This time, they are telling a refreshing story about an AI robot. They are truly great at making new concepts, just like they did with their previous time travel series.
The OST is just as beautiful and catchy as always. The series is currently airing right now, so please check it out. If you were a fan of Love beyond Dreams, you will absolutely enjoy watching this series

Not for me

The concept of the series is really interesting, and I really like the initial idea. But falling in love with a robot that literally has the face you created yourself is kind of crazy 😭. I’m sorry, but I feel like the build-up happens way too fast. A kiss by episode 3, when AI hasn’t even been around for a month, and Gen is already starting to develop feelings… Even though we know everything tends to move quickly in fiction, that was already a small issue for me.

However, I love the fact that AI, the robot, and the scientist can switch places. I think the concept is super interesting, and I was genuinely curious to see how they were going to explore that later on.

Episode 4 was so crazy, but I really liked it! We got to learn more about Gen’s relationship with her mother, but also about what it means to be the eldest sister when a parent leaves. The whole idea of responsibility, sacrifice, and the pressure that can be placed on the eldest child was really interesting to see.

Well… I finally finished the series, and I really wanted to love it, but honestly, I just couldn’t get into it. I felt like Gen and AI’s relationship was much more physical than emotional. Every time I watched one of their intimate moments, I kept thinking about the movie Companion 😭.

It was mainly the emotional development of their relationship that didn’t convince me. And it’s not even really about AI being a robot, because I’m used to these kinds of stories and that doesn’t bother me at all. It’s more about the way their relationship was developed that just didn’t work for me. I think I’m simply not the target audience for this series.

That being said, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the actresses or the production. They clearly did a great job.

AI Girl Takes a Bold Swing at Love and AI

Me Mind Y took a major creative swing with AI Girl, asking audiences to invest in a romance between a human and a robot — and somehow, it worked. The series delivers standout performances, big questions about love, identity and autonomy, and an ending fans won’t soon forget. But did its storytelling fully match its ambition? Def. My Fav Thai GL serie so far ❤️

It’s been a long time since a series made me feel this excited again: genuinely wanting to watch the next episode, curious about what would happen, emotionally invested in every twist.
As a developer working in tech, “AI Girl” hit me directly. It’s not just a love story between an AI and a human; it’s about someone trying to build, from scratch, the “woman of your dreams” as an artificial intelligence and discovering along the way that what truly matters isn’t control or perfection, but connection, choice, and mutual care.
The ending took it even further: it showed how far real love can go. Two souls one human, one technological choosing to stay together, to accompany each other, and to wait “until the end,” no matter the cost.
It’s rare to see a story that mixes emotion and technology so honestly, and makes you believe that love can exist between flesh and code, as long as both sides are truly present.

Def. My Fav Thai GL serie so far ❤️
