Love is Ordinary

Love doesn't have to be something big or grand; sometimes, it only needs to be written on paper.

This series was not extraordinary, to be honest. It was quite a bit bland but really showcased how ordinary it felt. I commend the actors for their acting, one of the most natural acts I have seen from recent series. It was all in all a heartwarming show. While it may not be like other series, and it has cliches and tropes, it still managed to captivate me since I finished watching it rather than dropping it.

A good series, good acting, and a decent story.

Another light Japanese BL

I liked this BL, it was fun to watch and really light , althought the MC has a lot of self-steem issues with himself, I liked the story, for some people maybe it would slow, but for me the pacing was good. The actors were fine and a the ending song is a catch. Streaming NPC!!!!

(P.S.: Why does it look like I am watching a BL with Yeonj*n and Taehy*n? I am the only one who find they similar, maybe I am crazy)

What I thought:
This was such a cute and fun little watch. 🥹🤍 I really enjoyed the school setting and the sweet, slightly awkward feelings between them. The chemistry between Gennosuke and Konishi Eito definitely made me smile. 💕✨

It had plenty of adorable moments, and sometimes you just need a simple, feel-good BL like this. 🌸📺

8/10 from me! ⭐💕

Yet another Popular guy x Loner plotline, but oh boy do I eat it up every time

The plot is really basic, nothing that has not been done before, on the contrary, if you have been watching dramas and/or anime for quite some time you can name another hundred variations of this show. The dialogue is predictable, the characters don't particularly stand out, the plotline is a bunch of clichés following one after another. At this point you might ask why I rated so highly. Well, there are two reasons. The first is the chemistry, even if the plot is basic you can't help but be pulled in because of the organic chemistry between the two leads. The second reason is that this trope is like chocolate, you have had it a thousands times before, yet you still crave it and want more of it. This trope is my chocolate, I will eat it up every time.

Its so fluffy

Sep 27, 2026

This show is so cute and fluffy. I truly think that Japan has a knack for making very similar show and making them entertaining!!

I think that it is very mellow and easy to watch, it holds and moves my heart strings for sure. Though, I won't lie, I did quite have a hard time watching the last couple episodes. Maybe because of the pacing, I felt that I was more inclined to fast-forward some scenes. Regardless, I still think that this was a cute show to watch. The chemistry of the leads are truly amazing and so cute. A good show to start the fall and cozy season!

Cute, Simple, and Just What I Needed

I honestly didn't know what to expect from this drama.
Not only because of the title — which already tells you pretty much everything that is going to happen 😂 — but because this was actually my first Japanese BL. So I went into it with absolutely no idea what kind of experience I was going to have.
And in the end, I think this was probably the perfect kind of drama for me to start with.
It's not complicated, it's not overly dramatic, it's simply a cute, light and very easy-to-watch school romance, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.

The story begins after a classroom seat change puts quiet, rather introverted Mayama Har in front of Asamiya Kosei, one of the most popular and handsome boys in the class.
Then Mayama finds a confession written on a worksheet:
“I like you.”
Naturally, he assumes there has been some kind of mistake. Because why on earth would someone like Asamiya be interested in him? Except… there is no mistake.
Asamiya really does like him.
And apparently, he has liked him for quite some time. From there, the drama basically becomes a very cute exercise in watching one boy trying to understand why someone could possibly like him, while the other has absolutely no problem making his feelings known.
And honestly? I had fun watching them figure it out.

Asamiya, let's talk about him.
Once he decides that he likes Mayama, he basically goes all in.
He waits for him.
He finds excuses to be around him.
He tells him what he likes about him.
He makes his feelings very, VERY clear.
What makes Asamiya's personality work, though, is Mayama. He isn't cold. He's just inexperienced and genuinely doesn't know what to do with this sudden amount of attention.
I actually liked that he doesn't immediately fall head over heels.
He needs time.
He needs to understand his own feelings.

One of the things I appreciated most is that the romance doesn't feel unnecessarily heavy. There aren't endless misunderstandings created simply to stretch the story. There is some hesitation and some emotional uncertainty, obviously, but the overall feeling remains warm. It's about first love. It's about the excitement of realizing that someone likes you.
It's about discovering what it means to like someone back. It's about jealousy, awkwardness, little gestures and those tiny moments that suddenly feel much more important because you're falling for someone.

Maybe this is completely subjective, but I can't imagine having watched this at a better time.
There is something about After Moving Seats that feels very summer.
The school setting.
The young characters.
The uncomplicated romance.
The light comedy.
The feeling that everything is happening for the first time.

It was exactly the kind of drama I needed: light, sweet, funny and uncomplicated. There were moments that genuinely made me laugh, and plenty of others that simply made me smile because the two leads were so cute together.

Great Binge Watch

This was a cute series. It had the quirkiness I’ve grown to love in Japanese series and the characters were adorable. The script was good, but had some weak aspects. On the positive side, I thought the backstories of both leads interesting. They gave just enough info without getting to bogged down with unnecessary details, especially considering the number of episodes. I also like how the relationship development between the main leads had a nice, even pace. As for the only negative aspect for me, some of the dialog can get a little cringy/weird at times. The cast was wonderful in their roles. This also had nice cinematography

Random Note:

This is definitely one of the series that is better as a binge watch.

The Boy Always Had a Crush On You, Silly!

It is a pleasurable adventure and admittedly appealing but, in the long run, there is nothing new in the execution of the tropey theme that we have not seen before. In fact, it does so even less. What saves and salvages this story is the spectacular acting by our protagonists. They are both its salvation and its downfall. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but I assure you it is not. The story is another version of a sad sack that nobody wants or thinks about that suddenly becomes the love object of the most popular student in class. The lines are executed with clear, clean, crisp elocution much like an adult would. Because that is exactly what the protagonists are. They are adults, each in their mid to late 20s trying to act like high school boys. It just does not work. I have stated this over and over that adults simply cannot, with conviction, play teenage boys with any type of efficacy or proper emotional impact. There is no angst or hesitancy in their performance. They have been through their teenage years and no matter how much we might not want to think that will not affect a performance, it certainly does. There is no element of surprise; no sense of true awkwardness or true timidity. It is all feigned. In addition, they are simply chronologically too old to play the parts of teenage boys as they honestly do not look like teenage boys either. No amount of makeup or coiffing of hair can guise it, otherwise. Perhaps I am being overly harsh or critical with this series. However, these types of series are being cranked out at an alarming rate with no real thought about the serious quality to them.

A simple, feel-good drama that I wouldn't mind rewatching.

Aside from the provocative concept of a seat change-induced confession, there is nothing particularly remarkable about After Moving Seats (AMS) at the beginning - however, the steady, increasing growth of character personalities and dynamics allows the audience to build a connection with and form opinions on each aspect of the drama.

Mayama is presented as an overly accommodating, incredibly reserved individual (which we later find is due to his past entanglements with undesirable folks) - easily prioritising others over himself and refusing to take a stance that is overtly selfish. Asamiya, on the other hand, is the typical, stoic tsundere type - untouchable in a way that is reminiscent of many other drama semes (e.g. Watarai from School Trip and Kurosawa from Cherry Magic) mainly due to the duality between his appearance and the subsequent expectations others have of him.

Acting-wise, Konishi Eito has definitely improved from his previous role as Taishin in Takara's Treasure - with varied facial expressions and an evident comfort with enacting comedic scenes (at least, to me). (His scrunchy smiling expression is cute :)) Gennosuke initially appeared flat and expressionless, however, I am inclined to believe it was an overly stylistic choice considering his facial expressions became more varied and vibrant later on. I think he definitely could have conveyed Asamiya's frustration with being seen as a mere pretty face much better, though I definitely don't hate what he managed to portray as is. Both actors' chemistry is very good, too - not as awkward as I'd noticed in Konishi Eito's former role in Takara's Treasure - and believable enough to last in the watcher's mind as a good ship.

I really, really liked the side characters in this drama - I think both actors did a really good job of supporting the main actors in their characters' distinctive ways. On the surface, Sakaki appears to be the more lively, unrestrained one - though he has his thoughtful, considerate moments (both when internalising his own feelings and when providing advice to Mayama during a chance encounter midway through the summer holidays). Tsunekawata is the quieter, more level-headed friend who contrasts Sakaki's personality well, and the two work well as a dynamic duo (that final pan-shot to Tsunekawata from Sakaki's viewpoint after that second seating plan change left no doubt in my mind that Sakaki has feelings for Tsunekawata). I would love to see a second season (that doesn't fall flat from the first, of course) solely dedicated to the development of their relationship.

Side note: Iijima Hayate looks good with black lipstick

Tropes Done Right

“After Moving Seats, the Boy Behind Me Has a Crush on Me” gave me so many fun BL tropes to enjoy... the popular guy falling for the introvert, a lovable and chaotic friend group, and, most importantly, SO much chemistry between the main couple. Everything came together in such a light, fun, and genuinely enjoyable way!

It’s definitely not trying to be anything groundbreaking, and honestly, it doesn’t need to be. It knows exactly what kind of story it wants to tell and fully embraces its tropes without making them feel boring or overused. It’s just such a cute, easygoing BL that’s perfect to sit back, have fun with, and enjoy the romance, the characters, and all the chemistry between the leads. ❤️

Very cute!

This show was very cute! I loved seeing Mayama get closer to Asamiya and the other boys. I think the four boys were really fun together and had great chemistry between them. I loved Mayama and Asamiya as a couple. I think they brought out different sides of each other and were very sweet together. The show was a great length as well. This was really enjoyable!

Easy watch. Cute romance!

A cute fluffy story about a romance unraveling between two classmates. Each of them have their own issues that they deal with, and together they learn from each other and help each other slowly get past their troubles.

There isn't much conflict, so the series itself is easy to watch. No risk to your sanity! Some aspects are very much cliche, but this series goes about it in a way that's not very frustrating or tiring. I found myself feeling some frustration during times of conflict, only for them to be solved almost immediately. What amazing communication these two have... If only we had more of that in the BL world.

Overall, this series is an easy watch. If you're ever watching a scary series, you can watch this series to calm your heart and mind. At times, it can be a bit cringey. But, overall it’s a good series.
