Lee Jong Suk's 'Iseop's Romance' announces female lead

JTBC's upcoming Saturday-Sunday drama The Sacred Jewel has released its first teaser.
The Sacred Jewel takes place in 1258 (Goryeo Dynasty), when defeat loomed after 30 years of war with the Mongols. The story follows the heroic struggle of an expedition unit that sets out in search of a sacred relic believed to protect the nation, as well as a princess who strives to save them.
The Sacred Jewel brings together director Jeong Dae Yun (Reborn Rich, I'm Not a Robot, She Was Pretty) and writer Jung Hyeon Min of The Nokdu Flower. The drama stars Ahn Bo Hyun, Lee Sung Min, Claudia Kim, Ha Yoon Kyung, and Yoon Kyun Sang.
The first teaser opens with Baek Gyeol (Ahn Bo Hyun) saying, "In the early 13th century, the Mongols invaded Goryeo." The war begins. As deep, resonant drumbeats echo through the scene, an ominous vibe settles in.
It then vividly portrays the dire situation Goryeo finds itself in, with a blood-soaked battlefield, fierce and desperate clashes, crumbling fortifications, and soldiers falling one after another. Even Choi Gu (Lee Sung Min), the commander of Goryeo's Yabyeolcho special forces who has fought across countless battlefields, is shown helpless.
The story truly begins when an order is issued to recover Gwaneumboju, the sacred relic that protects the nation and could change not only Goryeo's fate but also the outcome of the war. Led by Baek Gyeol, the escort unit's special commander, the veteran warrior Choi Gu and Gil Seung (Ha Yoon Kyung), a guide, embark on a perilous journey with their lives on the line. Meanwhile, Wang Hee (Soo Hyun), the emperor's youngest daughter, Princess Gyeonghwa, is also swept into the vortex of fate.
It remains to be seen whether the group, carrying the fate of the nation on their shoulders, will be able to fight their way through the blood-soaked battlefield and recover Gwaneumboju.
The Sacred Jewel will premiere in December. Stay tuned for more updates, and watch the teaser here.
