Cha Joo Young is a force to be reckoned with in 'Climax'

Cha Joo Young is commanding attention with a powerful presence in Climax.

Climax follows prosecutor Bang Tae Seop (Ju Ji Hoon), who plunges into a cartel of power to rise to the top, and the people around him.

In the drama, Cha Joo Young plays Lee Yang Mi, the owner of WR Hotel and a force to be reckoned with in the WR Group. She is a woman who has long molded the power landscape where politics, business, and the entertainment industry intersect. She is introduced as a strategist who, ahead of the presidential election, has supported Seoam Mayor Nam Hye Hoon — a rising presidential candidate — in every way, while forging a web of connections.

Lee Yang Mi is the kind of person who reads the flow of events and chooses what works in her favor, rather than letting herself be swept up by circumstances. On the outside, she exudes elegance and composure, but underneath, she conceals meticulous calculation and an appetite for power. She will make even bolder moves the moment the board she designed begins to wobble.

The newly released stills capture contrasting moods. In the shot where she looks back over her shoulder in a fur coat with a bold pattern, her calm gaze hints at her calm judgment beneath the glamorous image. In the shot styled in black fur, where she wears a relaxed smile, her gentle expression is offset by an unreadable look, revealing a drive to take control of the situation.

Climax follows the process by which desires and interests clash within a massive power structure, and the cracks widen. Anticipation is mounting about how Lee Yang Mi will position herself in the game.

Climax premieres on March 16. The K-drama will be streaming on Disney+ (select regions).
