Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran's 'Overdo' announces premiere date

On April 13, the organizers of the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards officially announced this year's nominees through their website and other channels. Among them, the Best Actress in Television category drew particular attention due to intense competition.
This year's nominees for Best Actress in Television include Kim Go Eun and Park Ji Hyun for the Netflix series You and Everything Else, Shin Hae Sun for the Netflix series The Art of Sarah, Park Bo Young for the tvN drama Our Unwritten Seoul, and Lim Yoon A for the tvN drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty — all acclaimed dramas of the year.
Judging solely from the listed works and actors, the selections may appear reasonable. However, the omissions have raised questions. Particularly, Kim You Jung's exclusion from the list for her role in the TVING original series Dear X has drawn attention.
Dear X tells the story of Baek Ah Jin (Kim You Jung), a woman who, having endured domestic violence and having lived a tough life since childhood, wears a mask to hide her emotions and escape a hellish life and climbs to the top by manipulating people.
The series was released as a TVING original from November last year through the end of the year and garnered quite a buzz throughout its run.
Especially, Kim You Jung's performance drew praise in every episode. She not only embodied the character from the original webtoon but also underwent a complete transformation, shedding her previous sweet image. The result was a performance of unnerving precision, effortlessly portraying icy, dispassionate calculation and eruptions of unrestrained, almost wild rage.

Thanks to this, Dear X has been cited as a work that solidified Kim You Jung's presence as a versatile actress not only among fans but also among the general public who have followed her since her child actor days. Even before the Baeksang nominations were announced, she was widely predicted to be a strong contender among various drama fans. However, when the official nominations were finally revealed, her name was nowhere to be found.
What makes it even more surprising is that not only Kim Yoo Jung but also the drama Dear X failed to receive a single Baeksang nomination in any category. This has led to perceptions of deliberate exclusion, with some even calling it "Kim You Jung being snubbed" and more broadly, "TVING being snubbed", since no work from the platform made it into the nominations at all.
Moreover, not only Kim You Jung, but also Park Shin Hye, who also received praise for the tvN drama Undercover Miss Hong, was likewise shut out of this year's Baeksang nominations.
This leaves much to be said. As a result, debate and differing opinions continue to swirl around this year's Baeksang nominations. Even before the ceremony has begun, the controversial selection process is expected to keep casting a shadow of questions over this year's ceremony.
62nd Baeksang Arts Awards takes place on May 8 and will be broadcast live via JTBC.
