Chinese actress and idol Ju Jing Yi in war against her agency.
Recently, a lawsuit filed by management agency Siba Media, claiming that her contract runs until 2033, is garnering attention in Chinese media. On December 15, Ju Jing Yi's team issued a statement saying that her management contract with Siba Media had already been terminated in June 2024 and also accused Siba Media of forging the artist's signature and authorization. On December 16, Siba Media released a handwriting analysis report, denying the forgery of the artist's signature and authorization.
Ju Jing Yi's legal representative, lawyer Yang Shu Guang, issued a statement addressing the facts and case details.
The detailed statement is as follows:
According to previous reports, on December 15, Ju Jing Yi's side released a statement saying that Ju Jing Yi's contract with Siba Media had already been terminated in June 2024. The contract was originally scheduled to expire on June 18, 2024, but due to Siba Media's multiple breaches of contract and even the forgery of a supplementary agreement, the artist requested to terminate the contract on June 15, 2024.
The statement also accused Siba Media of forging the artist's signature and authorization and even of indiscriminately "harassing" the partner. It added that Ju Jing Yi's team reserves the right to pursue legal liability for Siba Media's malicious litigation conduct.
Earlier, on December 16, Shanghai Siba Culture Media Group Co., Ltd. issued a statement regarding matters such as the signing of the "Supplementary Agreement to the Exclusive Artist Contract" issued by Ju Jing Yi's side.
The full content is as follows:
On August 2, 2024, Ju Jing Yi filed a lawsuit against our company, unilaterally making successive requests to terminate, rescind, and end the artist management contract. During the trial, a judicial appraisal institution designated by the court and confirmed by Ju Jing Yi herself conducted an appraisal. The appraisal did not reach a conclusion that the "Supplementary Agreement to the Exclusive Artist Contract" dated September 10, 2018, was not signed by Ju Jing Yi herself. In September 2025, Ju Jingyi voluntarily applied to the court to withdraw the lawsuit.
Previously, in response to the false statements made by her side, our company had entrusted a qualified judicial forensic appraisal institution to conduct her handwriting analysis. After Ju Jing Yi withdrew the lawsuit in September 2025, our company again, on September 30, 2025, entrusted a judicial appraisal institution with professional qualifications to conduct another handwriting analysis.
The re-appraisal result received on October 30, 2025, stated that "Ju Jing Yi's signature at the signature position of Party B on the 'Supplementary Agreement to the Exclusive Artist Contract' dated September 10, 2018, and the signature of Ju Jingyi in the samples provided for comparison, were written by the same person.
Based on the conclusions of multiple appraisals, it can be determined that the claims recently stated by Ju Jing Yi's side regarding the handwriting analysis are completely inconsistent with the relevant documents to date and constitute a distortion of facts and a malicious attempt to mislead the public. Our company will, in accordance with the law, submit the aforementioned appraisal report documents in full to the authorities.
Handwriting analysis report released by Siba Media
According to previous reports by Cover News, information from the Qichacha APP shows that the court recently publicly disclosed the first-instance ruling in the copyright ownership and infringement dispute between Shanghai Siba Culture Media Group Co., Ltd. and Xin Shixian Magazine, as well as Boutique Shopping Guide Newspaper Co., Ltd.
The content shows that the plaintiff, Siba Group, requests that the court order the defendant to immediately take down magazines containing Ju Jing Yi's portrait and name and to delete related promotional content; and to compensate for losses totaling RMB 300,000.
Facts and timeline: On August 16, 2013, Siba Group entered into an exclusive contract with Ju Jing Yi, and on September 10, 2018, the parties signed a supplementary agreement, stipulating that Siba Group is Ju Jing Yi's sole and exclusive management company, and that it exclusively owns the proprietary rights to use Ju Jing Yi's name, portrait, image, voice, and such.
The term of Siba Group's exclusive management rights over Ju Jing Yi is from August 16, 2013, to August 15, 2033. During the effective performance period of the contract, it was discovered that the defendant, without authorization, collaborated with Ju Jing Yi to shoot multiple magazine cover photos, inside-page photos, and a large amount of promotional materials, and publicly sold them. Therefore, the case was brought before the court, requesting a judgment as sought.
The defendant raised an objection to jurisdiction and applied to have the case transferred to the Beijing Haidian District People's Court. The court ruled that the objection was valid.
On December 16, Siba Media issued another statement. Under the hashtag #Siba claims to have even covered Ju Jing Yi's friends' travel expenses#, the statement alleged that its artist Ju Jing Yi had spread statements within the industry stating she only received an extremely low wage, had no share in business revenue, and was subjected to long-term exploitation, which Siba said seriously deviated from the facts. The statement said that a studio was established for Ju Jingyi, that a total of RMB 139,044,543.5 has already been settled to her, that a fixed monthly income of RMB 250,000 was paid on time, that high-end apartment accommodation was provided, and that it even covered travel expenses for her friends.
The full statement is as follows:
Statement of Facts and Declaration Concerning Our Company's Artist Ju Jing Yi
Shanghai Siba Culture Media Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "our company") has noted that our company's artist Ju Jing Yi has disseminated statements within the industry and on platforms, such as "only receiving an extremely low salary, having no business revenue share, and being subjected to long-term exploitation," among other claims. The above content is seriously inconsistent with the facts, is liable to cause public misunderstanding, and has adversely affected our company's reputation and normal operations.
To clarify the facts and respond to concerns from all parties, our company hereby makes the following explanations and statements:
I. Regarding artist treatment and income distribution
The basic treatment our company has long provided to Ju Jing Yi is as follows:
1. Establishing a personal studio for Ju Jing Yi and assigning multiple full-time staff members.
2. After Ju Jing Yi established her personal studio and pursued independent development starting in 2017, our company bore 100% of the risk. Without obtaining any platform distribution guarantees, our company invested more than RMB 160 million to plan her film and television development path, and to custom-produce an S-tier "female-lead-centered" costume drama, Legend of Yunxi, which achieved notable success after broadcast and opened up her path of development in the film and television performance field. Based on her past business performance and an actual assessment of her future commercial value, our company provided corresponding arrangements for her income. As of May 2024, our company has settled RMB 139,044,543.5. The [payment of] income was already supported with ample evidence submitted to the court during the previous round of litigation.
3. At Ju Jing Yi's own request, to ensure that she met the income and tax-payment conditions required for Shanghai's talent-introduction, the company pays the artist a fixed monthly income of RMB 250,000 in accordance with the same income standards applied to its other artists, with no arrears whatsoever.
4. The company also provided a dedicated driver and vehicle for her use for many years.
5. It also provided a high-end river-view apartment in Shanghai's urban area, which covers over 155 square meters, for her long-term residence, and later, in line with her subsequent relocation requests and living needs, further provided a larger urban-area residence for her and her assistant.
6. In addition, based on Ju Jing Yi's frequent requests, our company reimbursed expenses for her travel and even her friends, as well as her daily living expenses, and other various expenditures incurred by her, which should have been borne personally. Our company fully complied with his requests and reimbursed all such expenses in full.
II. Regarding her fabrication of facts, groundless rumors, and smearing of our company
In view of Ju Jing Yi having no minimum sense of gratitude toward our company for cultivating her from an ordinary person into a well-known artist with a certain degree of social influence, and instead, on multiple issues, including the validity of the agency contract and artist income distribution, distorting facts, reversing right and wrong, misleading fans and public, and disseminating false information to major platforms and commercial brand partners, continuously smearing the company, and even guiding fan groups who are unaware of the truth to carry out "online violence" against our company.
Our company hereby declares that, depending on the circumstances, we will continue to disclose to the media and the public multiple forms of evidence in our possession to clarify the facts and refute herfalse allegations.
