Lee Byung Hun cast in new Korean historical action film
Cho Han Gyeol shared his reasons for joining Undercover Miss Hong.
Undercover Miss Hong follows Hong Geum Bo (Park Shin Hye), an elite supervisor for the Financial Supervisory Service, who goes undercover as a 20-year-old entry-level employee at a securities firm after detecting suspicious fund flows.
In the K-drama, Cho Han Gyeol plays Albert Oh, a cinephile and the grandson of the chairman of Hanmin Securities, who crash-lands in Yeouido on a golden parachute. The actor shared his first impression of Undercover Miss Hong, saying, "From the moment I first read the script, I really found it an enjoyable and easy read. And the fact that it’s an office drama set in the late 1990s also appealed to me."
Talking about his chemistry with the cast, he said, "I felt that my chemistry with all of the actors was top-notch. Since I was the youngest, the senior actors took great care of me, and thanks to them, I was able to wrap up filming happily."
Cho also shared a few words about his character, saying, "Albert Oh, my on-screen character, may seem like a carefree, immature kid on the outside, but in fact, he's a smart and sensitive character. He's cool and also has an unexpected sociability that allows him to easily befriend adults as well, so I hope viewers will look on him fondly." He added, "He and I have some similarities and some differences as well. If I had to put a number on our synchronization, I'd say about 50%."
The actor asked prospective viewers to pay attention to the "comedic elements" among the many aspects of Undercover Miss Hong, adding, "While our drama does have serious moments, there are many comedic elements sprinkled throughout. I hope viewers will enjoy those aspects."
He continued, saying, "If I had to describe Undercover Miss Hong in one word, it would be 'love'. It's a project I'm very much attached to, and I really love all of the actors and staff members on set. I hope viewers will also show the drama lots of interest and love."
Undercover Miss Hong premieres on January 17. The K-drama will be available to stream on Netflix.
