Cooking Monster (real name Lee Ha Seong), of the Netflix variety show Culinary Class Wars Season 2, shares thoughts ahead of the final showdown.

With only one episode remaining until the finale, Netflix released a pictorial of the TOP 7 along with a short interview.

Culinary Class Wars is a Netflix original variety show themed around a cooking competition between "White Spoon" chefs and underdog "Black Spoon" cooks.

Cooking Monster explained his reason for appearing on the show, saying, "I was facing many difficulties while preparing to open my restaurant, and I wanted to test myself through cooking."

Cooking Monster is a chef who previously worked as a sous-chef at "The French Laundry" in New York. He is also reported to be in preparation to open his own restaurant in New York in the near future.

Cooking Monster defined "cooking" by saying, "I started because it was fun, but as I kept going, I realized the seriousness of it, and it turned into something that requires study and effort."

He went on to say, "I feel like I'm starting anew," adding, "I'm not taking [cooking] as lightly as I used to before, but it's not just a burden either. I've become curious about what cooking will come to mean to me in this new chapter. Going forward, I want to show more of myself through cooking."

He also spoke about what he took away from Culinary Class Wars. "I realized just how many people there are, regardless of age or specialty, who pour their passion and effort into cooking," adding, "I was able to immerse myself completely and focus solely on making food without any other distracting thoughts. Unlike my usual work of cooking and providing an experience for guests, there was also a sense of thrill in carrying out the missions in the unique setting of a competition."

He also indirectly addressed the controversy concerning his attitude that arose from his remarks and behavior during the program's filming. Cooking Monster said, "I tried to appear confident and not look intimidated, but I guess that must have made people uncomfortable. But I'm grateful for all the support viewers given me." He added, "Throughout the filming, I tried to prove myself through my skills. I will continue to work hard. I ask for your continued support."

Culinary Class Wars Season 2 is scheduled to release its final episode on January 13. In episode 11, White Spoon contestant Choi Kang Rok advanced directly to the finals, while in episode 12, Black Spoon contestant Cooking Monster and White Spoon contestant Chef Hu Deok Juk competed for the last spot in the finals. In the final episode, the last finalist and the winner of the show will be revealed.
