Disney+ is treading carefully with the rollout timeline for Portraits of Delusion.

On February 3, a Disney+ representative stated to Xports News, "The specific release schedule (for Portraits of Delusion) has not been finalized," adding, "We'll let [you] know if there are any updates."

Set in 1935 Gyeongseong, Portraits of Delusion tells the story of painter Yoon Yi Ho (Kim Seon Ho), who is commissioned to paint a portrait of Song Jeong Hwa (Bae Suzy) — a mysterious woman, shrouded in rumors and suspicion, who has remained hidden from the world for over half a century.

Director Han Jae Rim is at the helm, and the highly anticipated drama features Kim Seon Ho and Suzy as the leads.

Portraits of Delusion was included in this year's Disney+ lineup (second half), but its premiere date is yet to be announced. With Kim Seon Ho facing tax evasion allegations, speculation is mounting that the drama's release could be delayed.

The situation has prompted comparisons to how Disney+ has responded to past controversies. The OTT previously postponed the release of Knock Off after its lead actor, Kim Soo Hyun, faced allegations that he had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron, starting when she was a minor.

With a production budget of 60 billion won and high anticipation from K-drama fans, Season 1 of the drama was set to premiere on Disney+ in the first half of 2025. However, in light of the controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun, the decision was made to postpone the release indefinitely.

Now, Portraits of Delusion faces a similar cloud of uncertainty, as critics wonder whether its rollout could be pushed back or postponed indefinitely.

However, sentiment is different for the upcoming Netflix original The WONDERfools, starring Cha Eun Woo — another celeb from the same agency (Fantagio) embroiled in tax evasion allegations — as the OTT has previously released shows even when the starring actors faced scandals.

Moreover, at "Next on Netflix 2026 Korea," the drama was also introduced as a representative title among the series scheduled for release this year.

Set in 1999, when doomsday theories were on the rise, The WONDERfools follows a group of people who unexpectedly gain supernatural powers after an unexpected incident and fight against a villain who threatens the peace of Haeseong City.

Meanwhile, Kim Seon Ho is also awaiting the release of the six-episode drama, In the Net (filming reportedly completed in November 2023), in which he stars alongside Park Gyu Young, and is set to appear in tvN's upcoming drama, The Congressman Sends My Condolences.
