Actor Hong Min Gi's side has filed a complaint against his ex-girlfriend, "A", on charges including stalking and defamation.
On August 27, Hong Min Gi's agency, Parable Company, stated, "Considering the recent series of actions by 'A', Hong Min Gi has submitted a complaint to the investigative authorities on charges including forgery of private documents, attempted extortion, violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation), and violation of the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, etc."
"The agency and the actor will faithfully cooperate with the investigation going forward, and we believe that the substantive truth of this case and the legal responsibility involved will be clearly established through the investigation."
The agency also urged, "Until the truth is revealed through an objective investigation and decision by the investigative authorities, we ask that you refrain from making rash judgments about unverified claims or indiscriminately expanding and reproducing information that differs from the facts."
"A" had alleged that she was subjected to dating violence, verbal abuse, gaslighting, and pressure to undergo an abortion while she was in a relationship with actor Hong Min Gi. In response, his agency completely denied the allegations, stating, "'A's claims contain numerous details that differ from the facts we have confirmed."
Local media also reported that "A" had caused a nuisance after going to Hong Min Gi's home in Yongsan, Seoul, in the early hours of August 23. Regarding the allegation, his agency explained, "That is correct," adding, "The police were dispatched following reports made by Hong Min Gi and nearby residents."
However, side representing "A" presented a completely different account. "B", who identified himself as older brother of "A" through her social media account, claimed, "In the early hours of August 23, my younger sister was found having overdosed on medication due to the shock caused by the injustice she had experienced and circumstances that were too difficult for an ordinary person to endure, and she was immediately taken to the emergency room."
He also refuted reports that "A" had written a statement at a local police substation after going to Hong Min Gi's home and causing a disturbance, saying, "That is not true."
"B" said, "After being taken to the emergency room, my younger sister remained unconscious in the intensive care unit until the early hours of August 25th." "She has now regained consciousness and has recovered to the point where she can communicate, but she has suffered severe psychological distress and needs treatment and rest."
The post has since been deleted.
Following the claims made by "B", Hong Min Gi's agency released a second statement. The agency stated, "At around 2 a.m. on August 23, 'A' went to Hong Min Gi's home in Itaewon, rang the doorbell, cried loudly, and hurled abusive language, among other actions."
The agency continued, "The police were dispatched that day and requested a joint response from 119 [emergency services], and 'A' was subsequently transported by ambulance." They emphasized, "We would like to inform you that, under the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, etc., the police imposed emergency measures on 'A' that day, including a prohibition on approaching within 100 meters and a prohibition on contacting [Hong Min Gi] through telecommunications."
